Silesian Independence [IC, MT, TG to enter]

Postby The Silesian Federation » Sat Feb 13, 2016 4:40 pm

Silesian Independence

This is a rp about the beginnings of my nation, all fictional of course.

One day, I wish for the Silesian Federation to be a country spanning what used to be Upper and Lower Silesia and the Sudetenland, in Poland (partly Germany) and the Czech Republic respectively. For this to happen, however, the people still have quite some way to go... let us see what this first push brings.

I will be controlling Poland, the Silesian people and, should the need arise, the Czech and/or German governments.

1. Act upon the standard forum rules
2. My word is to be taken as law
3. This does not have to end (too) violently, maybe try something diplomatic first
4. Be polite
5. MT
6. No one-liners
7. No Metagaming or Godmodding
8. Have Fun

and maybe be easy on me... while it is not my first rp as a player, it is the first time I have initiated one. ;)

Background:

With lower house parliamentary elections coming up in Poland, the newly founded Silesian Solidarty Party, active in the provinces of Lower Silesia, Opole and Silesia, have been estimated to reach a qualified majority in the constituencies of Walbrzych, Opole and Rybnik. The SSP represents a large part of the Silesian population who, having been ruled over by Austria, Prussia, Germany, Poland and Slovakia in the last century, have been greatly alienated by the national conservative governing party PiS.

The main party line is independence for all Silesian territories currently Polish possessions. The Polish government, which cannot accept such separatist views, has responded to the SSP's growing popularity and increased protests against PiS policies by reinforcing police presence in the affected regions. Branded as provocateurs paid by the EU to destabilise Poland and condemned for harbouring anti-polish sentiments, the people of Silesia grow increasingly restless.

The situation at hand:

Wroclaw, Silesia

Julian Figiel massaged his temples as he leaned against the wall of his new office in the Old Town Hall. He had been placed in charge of the newly established administration of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, which was currently almost entirely under separatist control.

He pondered the events of the day, how a popular uprising, going almost unopposed but for the police officers sent in directly from Warsaw to maintain order, ceased the city and soon enough most larger cities of the entire province. He was proud, but scared: the polish army numbered almost 65,000 active members and they were just a group of enraged political activists. It was time to address the international community

Communiqué from the Temporary Government of the Silesian Republic

Honoured Governments of the World,

Today, our land was bloodied as we were given no choice but to fight in order to live according to our political ideals.

We tried to make our cause peacefully, while retaining an air of friendship with the Republic of Poland but we do not know if this is still possible. After the Silesian Solidarity Party SSP was banned on questionable grounds, we had no choice but to take the province of Lower Silesia by force.

We ask for aid to secure our newly created republic, to mediate and possibly to de-escalate the situation. We hope that you can see the need to back the under-represented and oppressed people of Silesia.

Begging you to help us,

Julian Figiel,
Temporary Head of the Silesian Republic's Administration

24 hours earlier

Julian Figiel burst through the door of the local SSP headquarters: “They just banned our party! The PiS has publicly outlawed us, the police will be here any second now.” With that, the room immediately filled with the voices of around two dozen activists, men and women alike who were only too aware of the tactics used by law enforcement to make political critics stand down.

“Quickly, this way”, a young woman shouted towards Julian, grabbing hold of his wrist and pushing through the crowds of people emerging from various offices and blocking the corridors: “what are you waiting for?”

She sprinted along the hallway, Julian panting behind as she pushed open a fire escape door. Springing down the fire stairs, taking multiple steps at a time, they could hear sirens approaching the building- they had made it out just in time.

She had taken him to her place, where he had finally gotten the chance to ask her name, Gabriela. She had told him it would not be safe for him to go home, the police would be looking for him. He could not believe it. If they did not want to go down in history as just another pesky political party, they would have to rise up...

Press Conference of the Republic of Poland,
Warsaw,
Poland

Image

The newly appointed press secretary of the Foreign Affairs office cleared her throat as she quickly skimmed her notes one last time before turning to face the assembled journalists in front of her. The room was packed with men and women from all over the world, filming her standing before the six large white and red flags of the Republic.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the press, thank you for being here.

The reason for our conference today is the so-called separatist movement in the southernmost Polish provinces which has, not content with destabilising our country, violently attacked the regional administration. It has become apparent that these traitors are here only to bring destruction to Poland and the Polish people and therefore, military action will be taken to ascertain that these terrorists no longer threaten our beautiful country.

The Polish government asks all their allies to be vigilant and make sure that these terrorists are not backed or encouraged, lest they wish to turn their minds on sowing discord in the entire region.

Thank you for your time, are there any questions?”

“Yes,” a middle-aged man jumped up, “what exactly happened in Silesia? The SSP stated that they were in control of the entire Lower Silesian Province.”

“Well, that must be propaganda. If they are in control of any territories, the military will undoubtedly deal with this threat to the people...”

“Miss!” a woman standing in front of a camera raised her hand. “our sources say that the PiS outlawed the SSP before events of the last day, do you believe they were provoked?”

“I… no. The government was attacked by the terrorists of the SSP before they were outlawed. We are still a democratic state and we do not simply ban political parties without a valid reason. Seeing as this is all we have time for, I wish you all a nice day.” She turned her back towards the journalists and walked towards the door, leaving the conference room in disarray as press representatives desperately tried to catch her attention and submit their own, unanswered questions.

The Old Town Hall,
Wroclaw,
Newly called our Republic of Silesia

“The people have called for liberation! It is God's justice, that the people shall have it. The oppressors in Warsaw have vowed to destroy us, called us terrorists and believe that they can make short work of us. Comrades, we will prove them wrong!

To defend our homeland, we must create a military structure to combat the aggressions of the PiS party. Therefore, on this historic day, we have created our first national guard regiment, the 1st Silesian Guards under General Roman Durkin! May God bless those men and women ready to die for our youngest of nations, ready to give up their lives for the dream we all share.

This light infantry unit will be the first in our armed forces and will make us all proud to be Silesian.

Let us fight, for our brave and beautiful homeland and never shall she be forced give up her pride. Thank you.”

Julian Figiel stepped down from the makeshift stage, nodding to the SSP members waiting for him as his speech was responded to with a torrent of applause from the energetic population of the city.

“This should give us a few volunteers, we are lucky that there has not been an armed reaction yet” he turned to Gabriela, dressed in a grey one-piece uniform and wearing a matching cap proudly displaying the white and yellow Silesian colours.

“Luck has very little to do with that” she responded, cold as ever, “the government in Warsaw is simply afraid of conceding that we are a threat to be reckoned with. A lonely terrorist organisation can be suppressed, while they will have to reconquer lost territories in order to beat us.”

“Indeed.” He nodded: “Then we are lucky that they are too proud to understand the gravity of their situation.”

“Let us just hope that we can somehow show the world that we do not wish to conquer all of Poland, but just wish to be independent...”

“You make it sound easy.”

Imperial Relations Office Headquarters,
City of Redport,
Wrosk Aijt,
Imperial Territory of the Carlistinian Isles

Jannik van Hootje, Foreign Minister of the Empire, strolled along one of the paths of the building's inner courtyard, rows of bushes leading up to a small fountain and Imperial standards swinging softly in the breeze coming in from the sea. “You would go?” he let his gaze drift along the walls of the courtyard before letting them rest on the blond man walking beside him.
“Anything for the Empire.” Clasping his hands behind his back, even the expensive suit could not hide the young man's military background, something all Imperial citizens of his age shared. “I believe,” he added, “that this is an opportunity for us. The Silesians seem dedicated enough, if we help them, they could make a useful ally.”
Van Hootje inclined his head by just a fraction: “Then we are in agreement. I will have my aide prepare the written communication and will call you the second we receive a response. It is a shame that Veerle is in Monahtan, I am sure that she would have been perfect for this assignment.”
“She would have been, no doubt.” The young man agreed, “But we do not intend to disappint.”
“Good. Await my call. Imperator vivat.”

Diplomatic Communiqué from the Imperial Relations Office of the Empire of Great Carlistan

To: the Government of the Republic of Silesia
Subject: Decleration of Independence and International Aid

Ladies and Gentlemen,

the Imperial government has been regarding your campaign for independence for an adequate period of time and, especially in the light of recent events which caused the eruption of violence in the territories you have informally declared independent of the Republic of Poland, feel that it is time to act.

We are not unsympathetic to your cause and would help you to establish certain formal procedures and a working civil administration to better the lives of your people. To this end, the Imperial government is ready to send a delegation to the province of Lower Silesia with the instructions to take up an advisory role.

Should you agree to this, we would warn you that, to safeguard our delegation's wellbeing, Imperial staff will be escorted by armed personnel of the Imperial diplomatic security corps. We further officially state our current stance, being that we shall not back any military operations by either the Republic of Poland or yourselves.

In order to not aggravate the situation, we further ask you to keep this message confidential.

With Imperial greetings,

Jannik van Hootje,
Keizerlijke Betrekkingen van de Keizerrijk van Groot Carlistan
Imperial Relations Office of the Empire of Great Carlistan
Imperator defendit Imperator vivat!

We are Indo-Malaysia, we control Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand (Count that as one nation, it is what we have always done in RP's)

Alex Moore slowly sipped his Coffee. It was strong and almost Pitch Black. Someone obviously cannot brew up. Either that, or he is far too stressed with current affairs. As Eternal President of Indo-Malaysia, he has had many violent, diplomatic and tedious duties in order to prolong the survival of his nation.

*Bang*

As quick as a flash, a well suited man ran in, his tie dancing in the wind. He was the Director for IMISA, the Indo-Malaysian Intelligence and Surveillance Agency. They often pestered the President with endless news of scandals of various celebrities in the Nation and whether to intervene in the outcries they cause. However, the news today was different.

"Sir! We have a situation that is more serious than the previous ones!"

The President seemed to remember the boring reports from earlier. "Yes Director..?"

"A European nation in the Polish Region named Silesia are being oppressed by the Poles who dominate them. All those wars we fought for freedom in the past are still fresh in my mind. I do not want our previous work (And Lives) to go to waste for such an important cause. What if the situation destabilised? We don't want any splinter cell's, civil war's and DEFINITELY no more Anarchist Factions!"

The sound of more anarchists quickly caught the Presidents Attention. "Send over some of the former BOFDSA peacekeepers, they could do a few tasks to assist the Silesians in Poland before they can go get new jobs. Besides, we need to further moniter the situation."

Later, the Peacekeepers boarded their aircraft. It was a surplus military cargo freighter from the Indo-Alamienian Conquests in Egypt years ago. The mission has now initialised.

Legnica Town Hall,
Legnica
Republic of Poland

Mayor Serwacy Chromy was scared. He could not hide it even with the city's administration staff looking onto him for inspiration. For almost an hour now, shouts had been heard from outside on the square, where a police line was desperately trying to keep almost three hundred protesters in check.

“Out, out, out!” a brick crashed through a window to Serwacy's right, making him jump as a young woman screamed in terror.

“What is going to happen now?” an intern looked around to leave his eyes resting on the mayor.

“I… I really do not know.”

“They have a point, you know.” The young woman was starting to recover from the shock of the attack enough to address the group gathered in the office: “Why do we even stand against them? We all know what the people want.”

“I know exactly what you are thinking but that is not possible. The SSP was banned. If we were caught sympathising with their goals, who knows what might happen.” Serwacy shouted his last words as the din from the main square grew ever louder.

“Who cares?” the young secretary's cheeks were burning. “If we do not act now, its them who will get to us first, not the government” she flayed her arms in the vague direction of the broken window. A short period of silence followed, suddenly disturbed by the ear-splitting bang of an explosive of some kind. “Face it,” she addressed the entire group of startled men and women: “when riled enough to break through the police, those people out there will storm this building and for all they care, we could have personally been the one oppressing them!”

“Alright.” The Mayor slowly rose. “We will talk to them.”

The Old Town Hall,
Wroclaw,
Newly called our Republic of Silesia

“We have received word from Legnica and Zielona Gora, as well as Opole and Bytom in the east, this has turned into a popular uprising of tremendous force. We need Great Carlistan's aid now more than ever, we need the international legitimacy and the administrative infrastructure to rule a country.” Julian Figiel stood regarding the two persons standing infront of him.

“That will not help us, should we be attacked...” Gabriela responded thoughtfully.

“The people are rising up, our cause grows in strength as it increases in size. Silesia is rallying.”

“You are too idealistic. We cannot defend such a vast amount of territories. We have to draw a line to survive.”

“I concur”, General Roman Durkin inserted himself into the conversation: “and this line should be here.” He tapped a map of Poland as he continued: “The Odra river will allow us to take up a good defensive position. If we wish to stand a chance, we must utilise all natural phenomenons to our direct advantage.”

“You can not be serious!” Julian stared at the map, eyes and mouth wide open. “If we pull back that far, the greater part of our gains will be left to the poles uncontested!”

The general grimaced: “Trust me, I like it no more than you do but we need to protect what we can. We could call upon those living in the villages to the north to travel here but, honestly, there is barely anything of economic value we are missing out on...”

“Exactly”, Gabriela nodded, “sometimes our principles suffer under reality, I am sorry.”

“No, no, I understand. I am being unreasonable”, Julian sighed as he pulled his hand through his hair: “and naive I guess.”

“Well, that is why we are here. With any luck, we can get the Carlistan government to give us military support of sorts, we will need to step up our surveillance operations.”

“We have surveillance operations?”

General Durkin laughed drily: “Oh please, we barely even have a dozen pairs of binoculars.”

Communiqué to the Imperial Relations Office of Great Carlistan
Subject: Re Decleration of Independence and International Aid

Dear Mr Hootje,

we were overjoyed to hear of your government's willingness to aid our people in their endeavour to establish a legitimate nation.

Eagerly awaiting their arrival, we would welcome a delegation from the Empire.

Well aware of your stance of military neutrality, we ask for your help concerning surveillance of our territories and intelligence gathering. Would it be possible to acquire the necessary equipment from sources close to your government? We would be most thankful and forever in the Empire's debt.

Thank you,

Julian Figiel

The Peacekeepers, all clad in surplus military fatigues sat looking down at Silesia. Their aircraft started its descent. An alarm began to wail, and the rear doors began to slowly open.

"Platoon! Begin your descent! Remember to regroup at the rebel base of operations!"

The team heard their commanders instructions. They all raced to the end of the plane, with their parachutes at the ready. The aircraft quickly shuddered to the left, half of the peacekeepers tumbling to the floor as a result. A second thump hit the plane, this time piercing a hole in the aircraft, which began to spin. The commander knew what was going on all too well.

"Quick! Jump!"

They all quickly leapt out. A distant sound was heard. It sounded like a weapon. All of a sudden, rounds flew through the air. They all attempted to dodge the oncoming hail of bullets. Three of the paratroopers were quickly lost, they blood dropping to the floor like rain.
Luckily, they all landed before there could be further causalities. They all looked on in the distance as their transport crashed into a large, secluded body of water. They commander lay on the floor, almost lifeless. Blood seeped from his skin and he tried to move, but was fixed onto the ground. He was a goner.

"... Go on ... complete the ... mission ..."

His eyes rolled back, and he breathed his last breath. The peacekeepers were now infuriated. They quickly phoned an Anonymous IMISA Staff Member to get backup, stating it as vaguely as possible to try and stop the Poles becoming suspicious of the outgoing call. They all checked if their weapons were intact. A small fellow from the Platoon stepped forward, pride burning in his heart. "Lets go kick some Polish ass!"

Luckily for them, a distraught looking local man had lent them a flatbed truck. While the higher ranking platoon members driven the vehicle, the rest of the platoon had to hold on tight in the back, and hope not to fall from the vehicle.

As they edged closer to their destination, they saw a group of people in the road. Honking the car horn did not disperse them, and were forced to brake to avoid running them over and potentially kill them. "Oi! Get out the way of the road!"

The people approached them slowly and calmly. "Shit, its a checkpoint, boys, everyone out!"
The platoon stepped out of the car, and while other people searched the vehicle, one of the men began questioning one of the drivers. "Mate, we are a Peacekeeping Platoon from Indo-Malaysia, and we are on our way to Wroclaw to assist the rebels!"

The men spoke in a foreign language, but seemed to understand them. After shouting something to another person, they were allowed to drive on. The road seemed longer this time, despite the route actually being shorter.

It was all very clear. If there were checkpoints, missiles and riots, a civil war seemed like it was about to break loose soon, and that had to be avoided. A peaceful solution was far more ethical, and would spare civilian lives.

Wroclaw drew closer, and they began to make out its outlines. Groups of people could be spotted outside, with signs bearing the Silesian Flag. The truck slowed down, and they all jumped out and approached the rebel base. Two men stayed with the vehicle to keep watch.

City of Wroclaw

Julian Figiel nodded, sorting through his papers. The delegation from Great Carlistan had been flown through the warzone in a helicopter, landing at the currently closed airport and just missing an air raid drill. Now, they were sitting in front of him. Two men from the diplomatic corps and a defence ministry representative. Up to now, all was going well.

"With the document published, you will be able to lead formal negotiations with the Polish government" the head of the Imperial delegation, a man named Jon, if Julian remembered correctly, was referring to a written decleration of independence.

"Indeed. Once this decleration has been made public, the Empire of Great Carlistan will officially back you concerning any problems posed by the Poles." The defence representative rustled tome of his own papers: "We can give you a written guarantee to that end... ah. All we need is one of you to sign here and I will agree as a direct representative of his Imperial Majesty."

"Very well," Julian rose, "so we shall sign your document and I will have a statement typed up. What of the new constitution?"

"No need to worry about that yet. We need to make sure the Polish government does not escalate the conflict by further menacing your position first. Who knows hows badly this might end if this continues?"

Julian nodded, knowing all too well the dangers which the Polish army posed against their movement for freedom. He was just hoping that they would recieve the sufficient foreign backing to legitimise their claim and have the Polish government negotiate. The Imperials were right, after all, if this was not done fast, the conflict could quickly turn very, very violent and he, Julian, would have no power to stop it.

Official Decleration of the Provisional Silesian Administartion

The people of Silesia, under the government of the People's Republic of Silesia, hereby and by God's grace declare independence from any other foreign government.

The administration shall have sovereignty over the people's territories and to this end, any attack on the Silesian state shall be seen as an act of agression against a free and sovereign nation, to be regarded as a breach of diplomatic protocol and bringing with it the apropriate consequences.

"Greetings." A young woman approached the Indo-Malaysian peacekeepers: "I am Eva Berginer, we were informed of your arrival by a checkpoint further out. We are glad you are here."

"Good to meet you" one of the higher ranking officers greeted her in turn, "we are here to make sure this does not turn into a full blown war."

A shadow passed over the woman's face: "A commendable goal, we hope it works out well enough. There should not be more violence than absolutely neccessary to protect our sovereignty. If the commanding officers would care to follow me, I will bring you to party secretary Julian Figiel, who is acting as our head of state. You may also meet the delegation from Great Carlistan, have you ever heard of them? They have the funniest of accents..." chattering on, Eva led a handful of soldiers through the door to the Old Town Hall.

Some of the Peacekeepers followed the Woman into the Town Hall, while the others stood Guard outside. The town hall appeared to be a historic building built many years ago, and was adorned with many vintage antiques and ornaments.
The wide corridor led them into a hall, with many people seated in it.

They assumed that the man who stood behind a podium in the centre of the room was important, possible the Silesian Head of State. Around him, was the foreign delegation assisting him gain their rightful independence from the Poles.

The Peacekeepers were instructed to sit down at a Vacant table, where they were then introduced by the Women to the gathering in the Town Hall.

Press Conference of the Imperial Relations Office,
City of Redport,
Imperial territories of the Carlistinian Isles,
Empire of Great Carlistan.

Jannik van Hootje approached the podium, cameras clicking and lights flashing as he walked along a line of Imperial banners. The word of Imperial-Silesian negotiation results had only just come in but as soon as the journalists got a hold of this evening's topic, they had flooded the government district of Redport like flies.
He gazed into the crowd. Van Hootje could see a great deal of national news agencies but also a surprisingly large number of international networks being represented despite the undoubtedly spontaneous announcement only few hours ago. Without glancing at his notes, he took a breath and began to speak, his already strong voice greatly amplified by his microphones and the room's architectural design.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, thank you for coming on such short notice.

Earlier today, the People's Republic of Silesia proclaimed their independence from any foreign government. The Silesian fight for freedom has not gone unnoticed by the international community and not by us. We greatly admire those who would give their lives for a better life to future generations, remembering the Empire's own beginnings. We do therefore call for talks between the Silesian and Polish governments to find a peaceful solution which honours the great ammount of hardship the Silesian people have already endured to get to where they are now. The Imperial government invites representatives from Poland and Silesia to the Imperial capital of Redport to meet there and a delegation from Indo-Malaysia to be present as well.

The Imperial government recognises the sovereignty of the People's Republic of Silesia and will stand with them to earn world-wide recognition.

We have come to the conclusion that the further escalation of armed conflict will only further destabilise the situation. This belief was the basis for the decision, that the Imperial armed forces will not be deploying within Silesian territories. However we warn against military agression against the Silesian people. Should the Imperial government see no basis to believe that a peaceful solution to any conflict involving the newly founded and therefore vulnerable People's Republic of Silesia is being found, Imperial military will be forced to intervene and deploy on foreign soil.

Thank you."

With that, Jannik van Hootje turned and walked out of the room, leaving journalists frantically scribbling down notes and speaking into microphones to coney what had just been said, including a not very thinly veiled threat, to the world's population.

Old Town Hall of Wroclaw

The Imperial delegation watched the Indo-Malaysian peacekeepers take a seat as they were introduced by a blonde woman in a business costume. The head of the delegation nodded in their direction; it was good to know that there were others present which were ready to avoid violence at all cost.

Southern Bank of the River Odra, near Wroclaw

General Roman Durkin could see the two men approaching. They were both wearing grey overalls and matching grey caps, pistols strapped to their sides.

“General. The preparations are going well. We will have a strong fortified position here in no time.” The place had not been chosen at random. After increasing worries concerning Polish attacks, orders had been given out to dig in at shallow and therefore more or less crossable places of the Odra, including a network of trenches and the odd weapons emplacement.

“Good, good, we have no real idea when or even if we will be under attack but in the case of emergency, we should certainly be prepared.” General Durkin knew too well the hazards of war, having been a member of the Polish army up to a few years before.

“Certainly General, we shall be ready.”

Now, as Durkin took a closer look at his surroundings, he could see the scars war was already burning into his beloved homeland even before it had really started; young men and women were busy digging foxholes which would be enlarged to make a trench and later subterranean bunkers. Just a hundred meters to his right, a small truck ground to a halt, letting a team of three dressed in civilian clothes jump out. Probably the engineers, he thought, they would be here to rig the bridge for demolition. A fate which would be shared by a great number of others once the appropriate command was given. After all, they were prepared to be isolated… they were not prepared to let go of their new-found independence so soon.

As the two officers which had approached him for the report marched away once more, a civilian car, a Lada if Durkin was correct, although cars were not his field of expertise. Out stepped a middle aged man a little taller than him. He wore a cold black uniform and immediately made for the General. “General Durkin, I assume. I am from the delegation of Great Carlistan and here to see how you are getting along.”

“Hello,” Dirkin saluted, a little annoyed at not being given a name: “we are doing rather well. The trenches should be deep enough to provide a certain amount of defence from small arms within the night and we should have our first bunkers done by tomorrow; we are getting an extra load of workers in the morning.”

“Small arms fire… you are a military man.” It was not a question. “Do you think this will do anything at all to stop a trained military force?”

“If harassed, even a more numerous enemy can be bled to death.”

“Not what I asked.”

Dirkin shrugged off the other's glaring blue eyes: “We do not have the necessary reconnaissance means. If we had, we are mobile enough to relocate to the desired position and we could use sworn in partisans and marksmen to our advantage.”

“What if you did? If you had the technology to surveille the area, would you stand a chance?”

“An interesting question...” Durkin rubbed his chin thoughtfully, carefully regarding the soldier in front of him, still standing to attention like a new recruit in basic training; stiff as a candle. “I think we would. I am not an idiot, we do not have the manpower to have engage in trench warfare but with the necessary means, we can ambush patrols and sabotage the enemy. It would be possible to hold out for a considerable time.”

“I will be in touch.” With that, the man turned on the spot, got back in his car and drove away, leaving behind an intrigued Durkin.

PREMIER KOPACZ RESIGNS: MILITARY TAKES POWER

Image
General Owczarski, the new prime minister of Poland, nominated by Ewa Kopacz

Warsaw, Poland - whole nation became stunned as today at 15.00 after a parliament session, Premier Ewa Kopacz and her entire parliament dissolved themselves, citing "inability to uphold Polish territorial integrity" as the major reason for her resignation. After a brief debate, Polish parliament agreed to temporarily hand the powers of prime minister to Arms General Stanisław Owczarski - former commander of special unit "GROM" currently our of service and placed in reserve. After his nomination, General - Premier Owczarski announced that "a hard line steps will be carried out to restore the territorial integrity of the Republic of Poland" and that "the rioters should return to their homes and select a delegation to conduct talks with central government; should they fail to do so, an operation to restore order will be taken."

In his recent interview, the General outlined his views on the situation now happening in Silesia:

"I know that this is nothing mere that action of those who would wish us to be divided" he said "I am calling all the Silesians to desist and return to their homes, and not to let provocateurs anger you. I do guarantee you respect for Silesian regionalism, Silesian language, and for your culture; but you are us, and always have been us. No persecution will take place upon anyone, as no massacres will occur. Armed provocateurs paid by politically correct regimes will be however disarmed as a threat to integrity of Polish state."

General confirmed that the Polish army is preparing for a major offensive in area of Lubin, to seize that city and secure it before moving to Legnica. In it's recent communique, the Polish government also authorized creation of volunteer "Home Guard" units, provided that they will be registered and subject to control of the Polish government. Already many pro - defense groups and football hooligans volunteered for his creation.

When asked about possibility of giving Silesia independence, Gen. Owczarski Replied "No way in my life will I allow Poland to be partitioned again!"

*** Lower Silesia

While the talk were in place, and General Owczarski was openly calling Silesians to desist and begin negotiations, everything was on the move again. The new military - filled government wasted no time in securing the territorial integrity of Poland, after announcing partial mobilization of the reservists to form from them several new brigades to be used in upcoming conflict, as well as calling upon various pro - defense groups to form the branch he envisioned for a really long time, the Home Guard, Poland's premier territorial defense formation. Considering that Poles made up to 45% of Silesian population, such groups quickly begun being formed in every major city in the region. Wherever Polish government had control, the Home Guard Formations were to support the police and the military in restoring order. In many cities they have not received firearms and would be used solely as riot control measure, after being given various tools suitable for this purpose - which was ironic, considering that the groups were quickly flooded with football fans, who, having experience with organizing stadium brawls against the Police or opposing teams, would perfectly fit into that role. Alongside them those groups were flooded with right - wing from entire Poland, Hungarian, Blearussian and Serbian volunteers, former army personnel, etc. It was going to take time to have them combat ready, though majority of them were already possessing at least basic skill at arms. Not without importance was fact that similar units were being formed in the entire Poland... to be later brought into Silesia, or be used as eventual defense enhancement.

Still, the major role was to be played by the Polish army: Especially 11 Lubuska Armored Calvary Division and 16 Pomorska Mechanized Division, which has been transported from Eastern and Northern Poland especially for this purpose through railways and roads, to take positions north to Wrocław. Meanwhile, to prevent it from being encircled in early days of the fighting, 11 Lubuska Armored Cavalry Division retreated from Żagań over the river Odra, to prevent it from being encircled during the early days of fighting and station on area with far larger amount of ethnic Poles, to regroup and reorganize. Each of it's commanders received orders to wait at this moment, until the situation resolved.

Quickly however, each of the unit commanders were constantly gathering intelligence on the enemy positions; both through soldiers of their own reconanissance regiments, which constantly conducted patrols close to river bank, never crossing the river and engaging in firefights with the separatist units, with constant coordination with the Air force's PZL W-3 Sokół helicopters, 8 of which constantly flew at low attitude, aggressively over the entire area from Radoszyce near Lubin to Wilkiszyn near Wrocław. ELINT stations were actively searching for any radio - electronic activity on the separatist's behalf, monitoring their radio emissions and broadcasts, determining their location and listening to all civilian communications traffic in the area. Additionally ABW still was no silent, having established a national network, allowing every Pole in the region to deliver information about what was happening in Wrocław and Legnica using the internet or mobile phone, having thus constant flow of information on the insurgent's movements through the patriotic Poles.

The waiting was slowly killing Polish soldiers; but nothing could be done at that moment, as the storm not yet exploded. |

ORBAT:
- 8x PZL W-3 Sokól.
- Entire 11 Lubuska and 16 Pomorska divisions.

Driving over the Most Rędziński, to Wroclaw

Football was an international phenomenon, played in all corners of the world. It united fans across national, ethnic, and religious borders, who formed a brotherhood centered around their favorite teams. And here, in Wrocław, lay a great team, Śląsk Wrocław, with many, many fans. Of course, each team had their fanatics, and Śląsk Wrocław, being one of the Three Kings...had more than most.

Your average football hooligan declared loyalty to his or her team, and there was little that could supplant that. It was not uncommon for fans of opposing teams - when they encountered each other - to break out into outbursts of violence, with each team's allies sending in their own fans in, creating a chaotic melee that could leave people seriously injured.

Right now however, there was no fighting or conflict between two rival teams, but there was a couple of gaudily-painted buses, in the green white and red of Śląsk Wrocław, trailed by similarly styled BMWs, traveling over the Most Rędziński into Wroclaw. These were dozens of fans from the nearby area, coming to partake in a SW game that would be happening in the next few days. Others would soon be following them, and some had already entered, whether by bus or by train, to say nothing of the fans inside the city itself. For some games, there could be upwards of 10,000 fans in attendance from outside and inside the city, but this was a smaller game; nevertheless, one could expect hundreds to show up.Lucky fans had gone ahead and booked hotels as close as possible to the stadium, while less lucky ones had to make do with ones further and further; of course, the luckiest ones didn't have to book hotels!

The conflict between the Śląsk rebels and the central government, now headed by a military junta, hadn't really affected the civilians inside the city and the surrounding areas yet, much like the opening stages of the Donbass conflict. There was no major bout of violence, no artillery bombardment, and no invasion yet, so there was no reason to act abnormally. After all, many people lived outside but worked in the city, to say nothing of these fanatical...fans that were arriving - this was their life, and all that one could do at this point was to hunker down and hope for the best.

Once the football fans got to their hotels, and unpacked what belongings they brought with them, they then moved to do what they did best - go out, drink, and be rowdy! The poor bartenders had better be ready for the coming hordes.

Somewhere near Lower Silesia

OOC: Written in collaboration with Wielka Polska Narodowa.

The dawn slowly rose above the HQ of the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade, one of premier units of the Polish military, which recently begun to be reorganized. The brigade's airfield was as usually busy, especially now when plans for deployment to Lower Silesia were being done. Yet, when unmarked aircraft slowly descended, everybody turned their heads to take a look. The corporate-style jet, painted in generic colors against a white overcoat, could've easily passed off as any rich businessman's private plane or company jet. But, looks can be deceiving, as it of course wasn't, for why else would it be landing at a military facility?

After taxing to a stop, the three occupants stepping off wore grey military-style service dress uniforms. While stylish, they were devoid of insignia, baring a logo of a hoopoe standing over the Earth on one end, and shoulderboards marking two colonels and one lieutenant colonel. The Riysian Mukhabarat had arrived, and were ready to bring their skills to the brawl. Normally, they wouldn't have any reason to be here, but the now Polish government was friendly to SACTO and thus the Riysian government, so what right did they have to deny help? Of course, the country hadn't taken an official stance on the issue yet, so any assistance had to be done in secret.

After showing the necessary documents to the proper guards, they were escorted deeper into the base, to a tall building housing 25 Command Battalion. There, after passing through metal detectors and other security measures, they were led inside. In a tightly confined room, checked multiple times for listening devices earlier, sat two people. One, short in size, but very well built, with his bold face contrasting with the dark brown hair he wore, was Brig. Gen. Stanisław Joks, watching them from behind his dark sunglasses. Second one was a so far unidentified person, a woman, dressed in civilian clothes, with short dark hair forming a ponytail. It was obvious that this lady was not part of the brigade's normal chain of command.

Walking inside, the Mukhabarat field agents took off their peaked caps as a sign of respect. Standing at attention, they saluted the superior officer, waiting to be relieved and introduced. After the salutations were done, they discovered the identity of the woman. Her name was Joanna Krawiecka, representing ABW - Agency of the Internal Security of the Polish government, which already was involved in dissolving the separatist groups all over Poland. There was no time to focus on her, however, as Gen. Joks begun to speak.

"As far as ABW delivered us reports at this moment" the General lowered his tone "We got roughly five elements, four of them irregular and one aspiring to be a regular unit, located in Wrocław and Legnica. In remaining cities a surge of protests associated with Silesian independence has begun. It is estimated that number of people identifying as Silesians goes as far as 60% of total population, though that is hard to determine, as many are bilingual and / or assimilated."

The three officers had given their names as Colonel Mustafa and Colonel Ahmed of Directorate Alef, and Lt. Colonel Saeed of Directorate Thaa' of the Air Force Intelligence Directorate. Sitting down, they listened intently. The first question was asked by Colonel Mustafa - "How well armed are these groups, and are we able to interdict any shipments of weaponry?" Colonel Ahmed then followed it up. "Do we currently believe that this separatist movement is being sponsored by Germany? I've never heard of Silesian independence movements until now."

"ABW also claims that the separatists receive backing from Germany. Rioters in other cities are contained by Police at this moment, but military is ready to enter on government's declaration of the Martial Law."

"At this moment not..." Colonel Joanna l sighed, "I do believe we fell victims to sabotage. They caught us unprepared too, all due those damn post - commies who now eagerly accept bribes from EU. We already arrested 3 generals for agenture on behalf of foreign intelligence. Their executions are scheduled shortly, as soon as we learn who paid them." She answered calmly, handing them copies of several reports about Silesian autonomy. "It is in our belief that those groups are in fact German government's creation. As for the armaments, our military was able to determine lack of heavier equipment. So far we only seen stuff accessible on black market - probably Mrs. Merkel wants to keep low profile in undermining rest of the European Union." Joanna's voice began to take on an angry tone, obviously enraged at the violation of her country's sovereignty.

"Only sizeable armaments they have include up to fifteen tanks, mostly old T-55 or T-34 or IS-3 taken from private collections and museums. However at this moment we are not sure in how good conditions those are. Rebels may however try to use civilian helicopters and / or planes. There is a civilian airfield near Legnica."

"If they could get ammunition for that, it'll give them some good support..." Colonel Mustafa replied. "I guess we should make targeting those tanks a priority of ours."
"From what I've heard, they're based in Wroclaw?" Saeed inquired. As being part of Directorate Thaa', he'd be in charge of coordinating the special forces on the ground.

"Affirmative" replied Jolanta "Town halls in both Wrocław and Legnica are their nets. I will be going with your team to coordinate you with local paramilitary groups, and other parties you would need to cooperate with. Besides, you would need a translator."
"As for tanks, our estimates confirm that they come from private collections and museums. Some of them may be in state that will disallow their combat use, but likely they will find a way. Recent reports speak also of a civilian plane flying into the area. Commander of SAM battery of 11 Armored Cav Div refused to give order to shoot it down, saying that "everything indicated that this might have been civilian plane". He already was court martialled. He is already being questioned, and revealed connections to various leftist groups."

"Very well." Lt. Colonel Saeed replied. "I would very much appreciate that, thank you. We're going to need to coordinate our forces together if we want to win as quickly as possible. Our government wants to keep its involvement as quiet as possible, but so far I can arrange for several companies' worth of Republican Commandos and some members of the Saiqa Division. Combined with the existent militias, I think we've got a good composition of force."

"Affirmative." said Joanna, "I will be flying with you to link you with local loyalist groups and help you coordinate with them, as well as to act as translator - considering that I have been in Police before, and besides that, a woman makes less suspicion. At this moment various paramilitaries are getting active and we do not have enough means to take care of them thanks to God cursed liberals from PO who literally destroyed our entire intelligence apparatus from the beginning. We had to perform massive personnel swap to deny agents of German intelligence access to every area of our operations, but I do believe we have not purged all. We will leave in an hour to Lubliniec where 1st Commando Regiment stations. From there, we will go to Wrocław by train, in civilian cover, then link with various members of local nationalist groups ABW already arranged contact with. We also have arms from our reservist units, mostly old Tantals and AKMs, ready to be handed over to volunteer formations."

"Sounds good to us." The Mukhabarat officers replied. They were also bringing some weapons to help out, particularly ones lacking definitive markings to their country of origin.

"Sufficient to say, we established connections with various pro - defense groups also. They will be coordinated with your assault. You will be also given cover among them. If anyone sees you, make sure to claim that you are either Polish Syrians, which we have few, or Tatar volunteers, assuming that you do not know Polish of course."

"I do not, but some of the others we're bringing along do, and I know other languages. Sounds good to us though, lets get to work. We'll decide on a plan...and from there, to victory."

Tel al-Riyah, Riysa

While this secret meeting was taking place, another meeting was being sought, this time however with the Silesian rebels as well as the new government. It was from a TV news program in the capital of Riysa, called "al-Alam al-Asri" - "The Modern World". Much as its named implied, it covered international events, and with the new issues happening in Silesia, what better idea would it be than to cover a TV session about it? And so a communique was sent out to both the provisional Silesian government and the Polish government, by way of the Warszawa embassy, with one unique copy to Julian Figiel, and one copy to General Stanisław Owczarski.

Good Evening!

My name is Haidar Abd al-Rahman, and I represent the international events segment, The Modern World, on Tel al-Riyah-based TV station "Good Morning, Our Riysa!" Our viewership is quite high, both in and outside of Riysa, and we always aim to have the highest quality programs on our segment.

In light of the recent events in Poland, we're interested in covering the troubles from inception to the future. Of course, to do this, we'd love to be able to interview you and some other associates and knowledgeable people, as we can't tell the entire story just by reading off of books and the internet! If you accept, then we'll send a couple crews to Wroclaw and Warszawa to film the interviews, point out important geopolitical markers, get some nice background shots of the scenery, etc etc.

If you are interested, you can contact me at the number and email attached to this message, so we can set up an ideal time to get the footage and interviews for our program.

Thank you for your time,
Haidar Abd al-Rahman
Director, The Modern World
