I bet on a ban on AI via a populist politician or party.

Have you watched the terminator movies?
If we do get skynet, we just have to not try to kill it, have it work with us, let it build the TX and T-5000, replace the TX's liquid metal with nano-phase matter and download our brains into it. BOOM!
