I really just don't like Overwatch's art direction. I've never enjoyed seeing anything that is just a mess of colors without a theme between entities. I understand Blizzard likes to give their characters "personality," but all I see in Winston is a space gorilla. All I see in reaper is this over-the-top character that is so out of place with all of the others.


To be completely honest I kind of hate Blizzard. Their graphic design is just difficult to look at and almost disgusting from an artistic perspective, their gameplay is average or the same as other games at their best, they turned WoW into a grindfest, they lock as much content as they can behind a paywall without upsetting the fanboys. They absolutely, entirely ignore their community, with problems that WoW has had for almost a decade only being addressed now.


Their answer to people's complaints about how bad control and tempo shaman are in hearthstone was to buff aggro shaman, which was already strong.

I'm convinced the only people working for Blizzard are the executives, a 1st grade class with crayons and a few learning disabled kids as the software engineers.

I for one enjoy the art style of Overwatch, particularly the levels. They're just so bright and cheerful.

Although I do agree with Winston; He's a shameless ripoff of Beast from the 1990s X-Men cartoon, right down to the gesture with the glasses.

I found the spider boss thing in Alpha Labs 4. Is it at all possible to dodge any of the projectiles she psi-throws at you, or do you just have to deal damage before you die, like that fight is actually on a timer?

I'm still not used to WASD. For the platforming bits in the EFR I had to take my right hand off the mouse and use it to hit the right shift to sprint (my little finger has little enough dexterity as it is without requiring timing the jump button as well), then when I did one bit of platforming and two imps spawned in, they took shedloads of health off because I had to work out where the hell A and D had gone to while I was jumping, then forgotten where W was in relation. Kept them over WASD the second time though and cleaned house.

But in this boss fight, I'm constantly strafing (not backpedalling though, hitting S is an absolute bugger for me), and everything she throws just hits, and then I'm not moving away from her fast enough to realise she's coming in for slashing range.

Reaper looks like he was designed by a committee to specifically appeal to edgelords.

EW isn't an expansion. It's a major game system overhaul.

It's technically separate on PC. For sake of convenience, it's considered "DLC" to EU, rather than a separate entry.

By that logic, Lord of Destruction is DLC for Diablo II.

When I boot up XCOM, it asks me if I want to boot up EU or EW.
Then it boots up that title, which has a different launcher, and doesn't share saves.

EW isn't a DLC expansion, it's Doom 3 BFG to Doom 3.

See, I take no issue in bright colors or cartoon design.

There is just a lack of any shared color palette between the characters, and this to me cannot be appealing if the colors are not subdued. The colors are unbelievably saturated and in every shade imaginable, it looks like somebody smeared rainbow sherbert on your monitor.

See, I take no issue in bright colors or cartoon design.

There is just a lack of any shared color palette between the characters, and this to me cannot be appealing if the colors are not subdued. The colors are unbelievably saturated and in every shade imaginable, it looks like somebody smeared rainbow sherbert on your monitor.

It's undeniably distinct.
Unlike modern military shooters with their entirely consistent shared colour palettes resulting in thoroughly indistinct character models that are difficult to make out from the background.

For modern military shooters as we know them to survive (ie, become good and rewarding to play), one of the things that has to be ditched is a super realistic like colour palette. Even BF3 was somewhat bright and saturated compared to the dreary-looking murky world of BF4 that followed it. And Bad Company's quasi-cell-shaded aesthetic was beautiful, interesting, and very distinct.
