Basically, the title says it. If you don't what a Civil War is, it's basically a part of a country wants to become a independent country and fight for freedom and independence. For example, the Revolutionary War (1775-1783), the American Civil War (1861-1865), the English Civil War (1602-1620), and the Russian Civil War (1917-1922).

A civil war has recently erupted in Pohan-Vor.

First off, Pohan-Vor has a system called the Guardianship that his held by the country's leader, individual Guardians going by King or Queen, depending on their gender. The Guardianship is sort of like the Mandate of Heaven from China, only the Guardianship goes to individuals and not bloodlines, and relies on judged enlightenment by the morally grounded and spiritual Jarra'dine population (race of scorpion people that make up the country) of Pohan-Vor in the form of the public masses, various religious elder councils, and the judges. There is only one Guardian, however there is a select group of intelligent and compassionate children who are chosen and with the permission of the parents are taken onto a private school and groomed to possibly be a new king or queen and Guardian of Pohan-Vor.

The capital of Shari'bular at it's Guardian Palace was the center of an address by the king's regent, which was filmed by media. After lighting the king in a bad spotlight, the regent proceeded to announce that the kingdoms previous leader, who the king had thought he had killed in his coup to remove the corrupt then-queen, was alive. She walked out of a room, proud but stinging in the pain from that duel years ago, and sat on the throne. The flags were changed to show a change in management. The king of Pohan-Vor, away on a mission, was brought this news by a teenage boy and with a body guards rode off to the Ani'keyah desert north of the Pohan-Vor heartland to meet up with his loyalists. His first action is to escort immigrants to their new home on the opposite side of the country and defend against the nazi-like queen's forces.

As it just started, I have yet to begin the simulation by creating another country representing the authoritarian queen and her government.

EDIT: I just want to clarify, the old queen was in power for decades before the current king, and during her reign the country started to show signs of a nazi germany-like future as she supported the xenophobic and racial supremacist factions. 25 years ago, seeing the future of Pohan-Vor, the current king stormed the Palace of the Guardian some, dueled the older queen while respective loyalists fought each other and he victoriously claimed the throne without war. The two are not husband and wife, in fact the king does not have a wife, while the queen's husband died long ago.

The Gandoor Civil War, which lasted from 1953 to 1957, has been the only civil war that has occurred in our nation. The war erupted a couple of years after the death of Prime Minister Alexei Petrikov, who was Prime Minister from 1940 until his death in 1951, who used provisions in Gandoor's constitution to enable him to effectively rule Gandoor as a dictator for eleven years due to World War II (which Gandoor did not participate in). The yons that attempted to form a new nation, the Gandoorese People's Republic, felt that Petrikov's reign proved that Gandoor's constitution was too weak to prevent a dictator from coming to power (keep in mind that most things Petrikov did to gain power were permitted in the constitution during times of crisis, it's all been removed now).

Due to the fact that the yons that attempted to secede did not follow constitutional procedure for secession, it was ordered that any organizations in the secessionist government were unauthorized and for members of the newly formed Gandoor People's Army to put down their weaponry, this erupted into a full-scale war between the two halves of Gandoor. On 2 June 1956, following the victory of the National Army of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor in the Battle of Peninsular, a ceasefire was declared for all troops, followed by an official end to the war on 1 July 1957, which officially dissolved the secessionist government and all organizations within and officially restored all territories that seceded into the DRG.

While the Gandoor Civil War wasn't much for casualties (6500 dead, 12000 wounded), it caused an economic crisis which lasted until 1972 with Gandoor not returning to pre-war economic levels until 1985, almost thirty years later.

The Welskian Civil War was a conflicted between three factions: The Loyalists (loyal to the new government), the Resistance (They wanted to Restore the old leader), and the Reds (Commies).

Alex Linden was prime minister prior to the war's start. He was removed via a vote of no confidence and Anston Kolton became the new leader.

Alex Linded was angry, so he joined forces with some soldiers who defected from the Weslkian Defense Forces and raided military bases for supplies. The new leader sent in the military to stop them, but the Resistance grew strong and started attacking cities in order to take them over.

With the Resistance victory over Kekorta, the Loyalist saw it as a declaration of war.

A group of socialists called the Corrective Front or the Reds, saw this as the perfect opportunity to introduce socialism to the nation, so they attacked the capital city, however, they were beaten back by Loyalists. Despite the failed invasion, the Reds were a formidable enemy and gained popular support from the war torn regions.

The Loyalists and the Resistance briefly joined forces and defeated the Reds and exiled their leader. Then the other two factions resumed to fighting each other. The Resistance was defeated and Linded was sentenced to prison.

as of yet there has never been a civil war in yg. there are two reasons for this: a) the people are very unified by a shared belief system and culture, b) there are clauses in the constitution that make secession possible under the right conditions.

In the 1990s, Outer Sparta was conflicted by four states being controlled by Sparta: Corinth, Mycenae, Athens, and Knossos. They caused internal conflict inside Sparta and sparked war. Thebes was another state that was fighting the Spartan military. In 1994, Sparta negotiated with the four states and achieved a milestone deal that designated those as "protectorates" and ended the conflict. However, Thebes was an extreme state that didn't like that protectorate designation. The government tried to negotiate with Thebes, but talks stalled at the Sparta Convention. Thebes was angered, and layed a massive rampage in Sparta, killing millions from 1994-1996. The military was hard pressed to deal with all of those threats. In 1997, Thebes staged a military coup against Sparta, but it failed. In 1998, they tried yet again, but failed. The 1998 coup was easily taken out by the military and quelled out the Thebian threats, or at least ending civil war in the 90s.

88,689.446788E: The Puer Aeternus War. Emperor Puer Aeternus's activism clashes with conservatism in Singularity, focused on the passive (rather than active) protection of Willpower in the multiverse from Entropy. While the Emperor is willing to halt wars of that do not noticeably aid or weaken Entropy in addition to those that do strengthen Entropy, the conservatives in the Senate believe his interventions strengthen Entropy. In 88,689.448, they attempt to overthrow him, attacking him in his office. The Senate's copy of the Ring of the Emperor is ripped asunder, and the Emperor's powers are cut in half. He cannot drive back the rebels, but they cannot defeat him, and blood and chaos rips apart the Core Galaxy. Quintillions and even nonillions are massacred in two million years of endless war. By 88,689.446790E, the two sides are weakened immensely, but continue to hurl themselves at each other, locked in stalemate. It's in this time that Entropy invades, sweeping across the Empire with her Trollkorps and reaching the Core Galaxy.
The bloody Battle of the Great Gate sees Emperor Puer Aeternus killed by Entropy, his identity suffering Damnatio Animae. A new Emperor, the independent senator Tiberius Artim, rises to replace him, and leads the shattered Singularitarian Conservative and Liberal forces to victory and drives back Entropy. He reconciles them, allowing individuals in the Empire to fight for activist causes, but doesn't send the Singularity Police Force into the battles. Peace endures for 12,000 Eras.
90,000.000001E: The Dark Lord's War. Emperor Tiberius Artim has ruled for 12,000 eras- eras of peace and defense against Entropy. In 90,000.000000E, Suckville is penetrated and a boy extracted from it by Peter's Band- a boy named Andrew. He is an unremarkable rookie until his crush, a girl named Katie, dies in Suckville, having committed suicide. Learning that the Empire can use time-travel, Andrew seeks to undo the events that led to her death but the Emperor refuses to let him use Singularity's time machines for that purpose, believing that Trollkorps troops will break the last convention of the endless war between them and Singularity if Andrew sets the example: they will rewrite history, undo a crucial death, and ensure Entropy's victory.
Andrew is enraged by this, and plots quietly to get what he wants anyways. The Oracle of Singularity declares Andrew to be a potential Dark Lord- a chaotic third force that will either abet Singularity or Entropy in the Multiversal Wars. She warns the Emperor to keep Andrew from gaining power.
Nonetheless, he does, gathering trillions of allies for his activist beliefs. Alongside Peter's band, he launches interventions in numerous wars raging across the Singularity-controlled universes and even attacks Entropic forces, nearly breaking the stalemate between the two forces. The Emperor fears that these attacks will not be truly exploitable, and doesn't invade. He only watches, hoping that Andrew's activism will burn out. But as Andrew defeats other potential Dark Lords, the probability of him being the Dark Lord rises immensely, and his enthusiasm for bringing justice steadily burns across the multiverse. His allies and forces grow immensely.
In 90,000.000000-.5E, all but one Dark Lord candidate has been eliminated by Andrew, the other candidate being Peter himself. The two men command three centillion troops and 50 centillion war machines, nearly 75% of the Empire's forces. Some Imperial troops are also pro-Andrew. In this year Andrew returns to Singularity, seeking recognition for his achievements and a key to the usage of the time machines. The Emperor convinces the Senate to only grant Andrew a small spur of the Core Galaxy as his fiefdom and a position in a Senate subcommittee on security as an advisor (not a full senator), as opposed to an entire universe of his own design and a seat in the Senate. Andrew is nonetheless contented with these- he seeks the time machines. He sends some of his forces to Singularity itself to distract the police while he finds the time machine, and the weapons needed to break the Einsteinian Barriers around Suckville. Success ensues, but he is nearly cornered by the Emperor. Andrew and his men escape to invade Suckville and use the time machine, allowing him to save Katie. With this new continuity established he returns to Singularity. However, he has done something worse: the Barriers around Suckville were restraining Entropy from using the universe as a base to attack Singularitarian territory, but now they are broken. Entropy invades Singularity shortly afterward; Andrew's forces take the lead in defending the Empire and ultimately (and reluctantly) rebuild the barriers after quickly defeating them. Andrew convinces Katie to leave Suckville before the barriers are completed.
The Emperor learns of Andrew's perfidy, and is outraged. The Oracle tells him that if he kills Andrew swiftly the Empire will be spared great carnage. Three weeks after the victory of the Dark Lord's forces, he sends a contingent of police cruisers and himself to Andrew's base in E Stellae Libertas. He confronts Andrew and declares him a traitor who has caused the downfall of Singularity. The two have a heated argument, which ends with the Emperor attacking Andrew and calling him a Dark Lord. Andrew accepts the title, and the civil war begins. Fighting consumes the entirety of the ESL universe before the Emperor is forced to withdraw.
Andrew's allies in the Senate betray the Emperor, and join him. The two sides, now equally matched, fight across the Peripheral Similarities guarding the Core Universes briefly before news of Trollkorps attacks distracts them. Together, they crush the Entropic invaders, and then return to war against one another- a cautious, slow war, as Andrew and the Emperor value Singularity as a more intact thing than as a ruin. For 400 years the two sides fall into a cold war, with Andrew and Peter developing powers to rival the Emperor.
in 90,000.000001E, the universe of Imperium is attacked and overrun by the Dark Lord's forces. A bastion of loyalist support, the universe is pillaged and slaughtered by Peter's contingent of raiders, then abandoned, left as an example of "the Dark Lord's Rage". Entropy promptly begins to strengthen. Sporadic raids by both sides inflict less damage than this, but an opportunistic Senator tries to kill Katie. Andrew unleashes his Rage, and declares open war. The carnage consumes the Empire for ten thousand years before it abruptly falls silent; Entropy grows yet stronger, and Singularity yet weaker from these fights. Clashes between the Emperor and the Dark Lord wreak multiversal havoc. The Dark Lord, unwilling to restrain his universe-destroying might, lays waste to ten thousand Peripheral Similarities before he stays his hand and ceases the near-total destruction, sensing the rise of Entropy. Singularity is yet further weakened.
By 90,000.000002E, Entropy attacks, overrunning much of Singularity's territories. The Dark Lord rushes to claim these universes before Entropy can purge them of life, but overstretches himself in the process. Entropic forces strengthen, and fighting pushes yet closer to the Empire's heart. The Oracle predicts that the Dark Lord will halt the rise of Entropy but die in the process, leaving his own troops to fall into civil war and giving Entropy a new opening and fresh troops that will carry her forces closer to the Core. The Emperor tries to reconcile, but the Dark Lord refuses all peace deals because all of them demand that Katie dies in the process. War continues, draining the anti-Entropy forces.
In 90,000.000003E, Entropy's forces raid the outskirts of the Core Galaxy. The Emperor sees what must be done. He unilaterally orders his forces to cease fighting the Dark Lord's, and counterattacks into Entropic territory, ultimately getting bogged down before massive Entropy-Busters enter the battlefield, killing quintillions of Singularitarian policemen in the process. Andrew decides to come to the Emperor's rescue, saving him in Ordona. The Emperor, in gratitude, spares Katie's life, and declares the Dark Lord to be Lord Protector of the Core. Together, the two men and Peter lead a massive offensive. Entropy, to their ignorance, is pulling back into a trap she has set for the Singularitarian forces. Usage of Entropy Counter-Busters in raids on Entropic territory further strengthen the Imperial forces, and spread hope for victory and reconciliation.
Still, groups on both sides hate the others. A contingent of loyalists attack the Dark Lord's bases, thinking his victory will only trigger further war and chaos. Outraged, the Dark Lord counterattacks the loyalists and their fiefdoms, wiping them out completely before seizing control over them. Conflict bubbles between both sides in the background, while Peter, the Emperor, and the Dark Lord work together to bring down the forces of Entropy.
In E Stellae Libertas, forces under the Knight-Demigod have held off alone against Entropy through the usage of Aegis Crystals. The Dark Lord infuses them with his hope and desperation, and uses them to break the siege and launch initial strikes against Entropic forces. But the trap's been sprung. Entropy herself attacks the Dark Lord while Peter and the Emperor are off elsewhere, and the two duel briefly before Andrew's internal darkness weakens him. Entropy moves in for the final strike, but the Emperor takes the blow, and nearly suffers Damnatio Memoriae. Before TIberius Artim dies, Andrew invokes his own will, and saves him. Peter leads a final crusade into Entropy's territory, pushing her forces back further than ever to Suckville itself. In the battle for Suckville, the forces of the Dark Lord break the Einsteinian Barriers, and use them to seal Entropy into an Aegis Crystal to be slowly consumed for a thousand eras.
Back in Singularity, the Emperor pardons the Dark Lord of his crimes, saying that his millions of good works outweigh his thousands of evil works, and declares him a hero of the Empire. He also gives Andrew the title of Imperial Successor. Both men call off their forces, and defeat those who would still wish to fight, including a potential Dark Lord named Revan II. The Senate's activists and conservatives agree to work out their disputes peacefully. The Oracle apologizes to the Dark Lord, before prophesizing that as a result of his power his identity as Andrew will suffer the damnation of being, and die irrevocably.

Since this period, the Empire has been almost completely at peace. In 90,001.234567, Emperor Tiberius Artim is assassinated by Entropy, and the Dark Lord became the new Emperor of Singularity. He has ruled since for 20 eras. Will he rule for ten thousand times more eras? That is yet to be determined.

There was a Civil war 1462-1472. Among the King and the Parliament. which ended with a reconciliation between the parts. But peace was settled definitivelly with 1486 royal edict.
In some ways independence war/Reaper's war, was a Civil war, fought (1640-1652): By the burguessy, the lesser nobility, peasantry and part of the clergy with french support. Against the spanish crown which were supported by high nobility and high clergy. During the country's first years in mid XVII century there were feuds and fights between parliamentarist and absolutists, We were then a French Client state under Louis XIV and it`s unpopular policies such the annexation of the country`s northern part to France.
Till the parlamentary Angelets revolt ended french rule, supported by spanish forces, taking advantage of French-dutch war. Which ended in Parlamientarists victory and the northern Province which Louis had annexed to France returned. A diferent royal lineage under was elected under the house of Darsmtadt with Jordi I and the Constitution of 1702 settled a peace between the factions.

Other serie of civil wars were fought in the early XIX century in 1826-1827 and 1846-1849 in which liberals beat with british and french support. The absolutist king Give the crown to His second (liberal) son impulsed the modernitzation and democratised the country (with french and British assistance). While the absolutist royal family branch went to exile. But in 1869 the king died without descendants, it was a crisis that almost ended in civil war, with Prussia, England, France and Italy involved, this was resolved with absolutist royal faction restored but forced to accept a new liberal constution that reduced royal powers respect previous one.

In 1917 there was a failed revolution atempt which was crushed by the government troops. The monarchy fell in 1926 in a coup because it's approaches to facism. The king was forced to call for free election and He abdicated after the coalition of republican parties victory. He was again restored by the Axis. So in part the resistence a 1941-1944 and 1944 liberation by the Free Catalan Forces is considered as the first fase of the civil war. As the liberation was a rush by the parts to disarm colaboratists and control most of the territory. In 1945 election republican parties victory abolished the Monarchy again.
In 1944_1947 there was the last civil war between. Democrats supported by the USA and The UK. Which included the FNC part of the internal resistance, the London goverment in exile and Catalan Free Forces (regular army) and former conservative royalists. Against, both anarchists and communists (without Stalin support), which spend more time fighting between them than goverment's forces. Democratic forces crushed communists and anarchist forces in 1944's autumn but COIN and Antiterror operations continued untill spring 1947 from spring 1947 until the early 1950s there were some minor police and COIN actions against the last left-wing remnants.
as result of the war we joined NATO as funding member, received Marshal's plan aid and we entered in 1951 ECSC and into EEC in 1957. There were during the 70s-80s against series of red terror and anarchist terorist attacks which ceased in the mid 80s. Those were not a threat for the country's stability.

Yes, The Tegradian Revolutionary War (1947-1971). The Tegradian Revolutionary Army began campaigning for independence in the 1940's, launching attacks on various government buildings and removing Soviet presence from Tegrad. After over two decades the movement gained lots of momentum and simply overwhelmed the Soviet forces. As a result Tegrad gained its independence and established a more democratic socialist state.

Last one was 500 years ago after the famous and only successful revolution following a short period of decadence and family breakdown. The government collapsed. The civil war ended with the religious faction reforming the nation to its great glory in relation to its foundation. It is part of the explanation for why this country is very religious.

While more of an insurgency or local rebellion than a civil war, there was a brief secessionist movement in northern Ventalia from 1931 to 1936. The movement, attempting to establish the People's Republic of Northern Ventalia, attracted fighters from across Ventalia and from abroad to fight either for the Marxist rebels or for the Kingdom. Though skirmishes and impromptu battles occurred with a not insignificant loss of life, the movement dissipated by 1936 largely due to a lack of funds, a lack of popular support after the on-air murder of a popular northern radio host during a station takeover, and a flurry of insults and slurs against southern Ventalians which served to rally troops for the Kingdom. While sporadic violence from lone-wolf actors and anti-government groups continued into the 1950s, the election of the Socialist Party to a parliamentary majority in 1959 largely quelled any desires and unrest.

Vital historical material was lost when a mob ransacked and razed a newly built temple dedicated to the second Kanamekami at the now-abandoned ghost city of Akemi about 500 years ago (probably including accounts of the precise motivations of her assassin Yakumo Homura, as well as accounts of events immediately after the assassination), but the end is well known to locals -- Yakumo Homura was eventually captured and brought before the newly-crowned Kanamekami Kaname Yui, who instead of ordering her death exiled her at an island in the Asunaro archipelago, where she would remain till her own demise about half a century later.

Yes. As a matter of fact, there is a Civil War going on right now, aptly named the Dopish Civil war. The war is between some of the heirs who have different views (mainly due to the fact the former leader had a different person teach each heir, and pretty much left them alone in their teachings, so they were taught different ways.) Some heirs fight to keep the Monarchy alive, others for a Republic, and one is just a puppet leader. Although the war hasn't yet gotten violent, it will soon.
Before this, however, there was the Dopish war of independence, in which they became independent from an unknown ruler, and then proceeded to eradicate any sign of their former rulers' existences. The only reason we know of this war is due to a story by the first Dopish King, Roland Doper the first (nicknamed Roland the Great, because he led his people to power)

And there was another revolutionary war between Doperland and a colony, Alerean. Alerean broke away, and because Doperland was already at war with other nations, accepted their independence after a year of bloodshed - and made Alerean a Dopish state a mere 18 years later, when the people revolted against the tyrannical rule of the Alerean dictator (a man named Bromen Richter, nicknamed Bromen the Usurper, because he usurped power from the first king -his brother- Edward Richter)
And finally, the War for the Dopish Republic. Which was hardly half a century ago, in which a group of advisors and government officials revolted against the Monarchy, which ultimately led to the deaths if almost one million people over just three years.

There is the Verdiger Civil War, which sparked from 1968 to 1974, as a result of a Communist rebellion which formed the state of Southwest Verdiga (later South Verdiga). At first, the Communists took over the southern half of Verdiga, but, thanks to American support and Communist leaders defecting to the legitimate state of Verdiga, the Communists began to lose ground and were eventually crushed.
