Welcome to the 27th World Bowl!
Signups - Host Bid - Ranks - OOC Discussion - Cosumar - World Bowl XXVI

The World Bowl. The most prestigious and storied Gridiron Football competition in history and perhaps the Multiverse's biggest regular sporting event outside of the World Cup. Well it's back again, with 48 teams arriving here in northeastern Atlantian Oceania prepared to fight for glory and pour their hearts out for every inch. #1-ranked Ko-oren won World Bowl 26 in Electrum. Will they defend their title? Or will it be your nation that steps forth to lift the trophy here in the 27th edition? The world will be watching to find out.

Of course, the best way to increase your team's chances of success is to post a roster and regular roleplays. If you are unsure what these should look like, look at others' in this thread and read the Guide to Sports Roleplaying. If you are unfamiliar with the sport, reading about How Gridiron Football Works should help you write a realistic RP.

Welcome, all 47 foreign delegations, to the Fiefdom of Cosumar.

...

We are a kingdom in northeastern Atlantian Oceania near Audioslavia, Thatius and Western Sunrise Islands. The current year of our calendar is 1003 (over a millennium since the dawn of Cosumarite civilization!), and the current population is approximately 900 million. Our government is a constitutional monarchy currently led by the benevolent King James II (58) and beloved Queen Charlotte (48).

CULTURE: Cosumar is known for its wide-ranging civil freedoms (including very liberal attitudes on sex and recreational drugs), obsession with outer space, and simultaneous preservation of nature and advancement of technology, striking a healthy balance between the two. According to the WA Census, Cosumar is the #1 most-developed nation in Atlantian Oceania and second-most scientifically advanced. About 77% of Cosumarites are atheist, agnostic or otherwise irreligious and our government is completely secular. Of the remaining 23%, many adhere to Nordic paganism or other ancient folk religions (13%). There are also small Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu and Buddhist populations (8% combined). Cosumarites are stereotyped as looking down on religion as "primitive mythology", and while that is not completely unfounded, you will find Cosumarites are even better known for being very welcoming of other cultures because of our own ethnically diverse heritage. Aside from our lack of religious identity, Cosumar is deeply cultured, with vibrant art and music scenes thriving in the historic urban areas. Ramusok's Renaissance Art and Heavy Metal music undergrounds, for example, are internationally notorious. You can read more about your host city's culture below.

GEOGRAPHY & TRAVEL: Cosumar consists of a large landmass called Cosumarus (roughly 70% the size of Australia) and a smaller landmass Klyde in the eastern waters of the massive Gulf of Parougan. Together, they make a shape that has been compared to an alligator's open mouth and a pear about to be swallowed up by it. The land is divided into 21 provinces, historically known as "Fiefs". Some scattered archipelagos off the west coast are also encompassed by the Fiefdom, as are several of our more developed extraterrestrial colonies. Using this map, you can note the various cities and regions of Cosumar. You can read more about the climate and geography of particular cities below. Travel to major population centers across Cosumar is made simple by our innovative TransCosumar Hyperloop, a system of high-speed monorails that safely travels at speeds exceeding 700 miles per hour. Your teams' tickets have already been reserved, with private seating. All eight host cities have multiple international airports for arrival and departure, with direct access to Hyperloop from the airport.

LANGUAGE: Most Cosumarites have chips implanted in their brain that allow them to process most of the world's major languages, so communication should never be a problem when out touring. Because Cosumar was born from a diverse set of heritages and welcomes many immigrants, this was necessary to make sure everybody could communicate efficiently. The default language is English, but Swedish, Welsh, Vloo, Spanish, Esperanto, Norwegian, Finnish, German, Latvian, Slovene, and Japanese all have regions where they are primarily spoken. A patchwork dialect dubbed "Cosumarite" is also heard here and there, but it is more of a mash-up of English and Nordic tongues than a language of its own.

FOOTBALL: Gridiron Football is extremely popular in Cosumar as both a spectator and recreational sport, second only to Association Football in both regards. It is played competitively at many age levels too, from local youth and high school leagues to NationStates College Football (NSCF) to our own professional league, the CFL. The name of the sport varies by region (there are certain folks in central Cosumar who would loudly protest to any foreigners calling it anything other than simply "Football"), but the passion for the game is ingrained in our culture much like soccer is.

Host Cities & Venues

Ramusok, Ramusok Fief

The capital city. Home of the royal family and King's Congress. Epicenter of multiple historic dynasties. Bastion of knowledge and creativity. Diverse and eccentric, yet clean and elegant. Ramusok is the crown jewel of Cosumar, the pinnacle of a thousand years of Cosumarite civilization, and one of the finest cities in the Multiverse. As a global city, people of all kinds live here, though the city does still have a bit of a Swedish component leftover from the old Albertsson dynasty, evident in some of the place names. Chilly but not severe winters and warm but not hot summers, and pleasantly moderate most of the year.

Assignment: Group A, Ro16 Game 1, Quarterfinals Game 1

Provided Accommodations: Holmenkollen-North Ramusok (HNR) International Airport, Hotell Fjålkinge (teams 1-3), The Grand Driskill (teams 4-6), Azure Lane Grill, Rudi's Vegetariska Restaurant, Ramusok Capital University campus tour-by-segway

Tourism: If you appreciate history, Ramusok has much to offer: from the decadent Royal Palace at Område av Storslagenhet, to the iconic Thomas Street, to the ancient jewel-studded Monolith of Lyra, shrouded in mystery. There are centuries-old libraries and museums everywhere. Yet Ramusok also boasts some of the most stunning modern architecture in the world, coexisting with the ancient in harmonic balance. Just see the stunning all-glass resorts and offices overlooking the water on Azure Lane. Or the Forest of Lamneth - the largest urban nature park in Cosumar. The nightlife is extravagant thanks to the young and "hip" population and many prestigious universities in town. Make sure to catch some of the live music at night - there are venues specifically dedicated to genres ranging from black metal to neoclassical to indie pop to avant-garde jazz.

Venue: Capital Coliseum (82,000) - A gridiron-specific stadium whose primary tenant are the athletic programs of Ramusok Capital University and defending champion lacrosse team Ramusok Rhinos. Since both the Rhinos and RCU football recently concluded their seasons, the Coliseum is available for the World Bowl. It is located just a block from RCU's magnificent campus on the north side of Ramusok.

Kaldukosic, Kaldukosic Fief

Kaldukosic is the most populous city in Cosumar (16 million) and is one of the most important hubs in Atlantian Oceania, situated on the east coast of mainland Cosumarus, just south of Ramusok. The two cities' metro areas overlap to form one giant megalopolis. Whereas Ramusok is known more for its artistic, historical and governmental importance, Kaldukosic is a the mecca of Cosumarite big business, home to booming technology, science and medical industries. It has an older, more profession-oriented population than Ramusok but also a higher average income. Not as much youthful energy in the nightlife and music/art scenes, but plenty of swanky, more luxurious clubs and hangouts. Moderate weather, slightly humid.

Assignment: Group B, Ro16 Game 2, Quarterfinals Game 2

Accommodations: Kastria Air & Space Port, The Lurys Kaldukosic Hotel (teams 1-3), Scarlet Hospitality (teams 4-6), Jen Yi's Asian Cuisine, Snekker's Steakhouse & Gentleman's Club

Tourism: Dragonbreath Tower is the tallest skyscraper in Cosumar. Take the glass elevator to the Skydeck and walk across a see-through catwalk to the next-door building, 2800 feet above the ground. Infinity Plaza is the Cosumarite equivalent of Times Square, with massive hologram advertisements and paper-thin billboard screens everywhere. Complete with throngs of people moving like molasses and the stock exchange a few blocks away.

Venue: Leviathan Arena (99,114) - One of the most iconic venues in Cosumar, Leviathan Arena is more known for soccer, as it has long served as the home of the National Team in World Cups. But it can also be converted for football, as it does during the CFL season for the Kaldukosic Blazers, the defending champions of Cosumarite football. It has the steepest (and highest) stands of any stadium in Cosumar, and has subsequently become infamous for its colossal, even suffocating, atmosphere. Sitting up high is not for fans faint of heart. Also of note is its Museum of Cosumarite Sport, one of the largest in-stadium museums in the world.
Image

Surpronuk, Parougan Fief

Surpronuk is the smallest host city at "only" 2 million, but it is not without character. Located in the far north of Cosumar and surrounded on all sides by mountains and nature reserve, it remains more isolated and homogenous than most Cosumarite cities. It is the most Nordic city in Cosumar, with 65% of people speaking Norwegian or Swedish as their primary language. It is one of the northernmost cities of over a million in Atlantian Oceania and is known for its frigid, snowed-in winters. Even at this time of year, the weather is bitter and cold. Teams that like to air it out may want to work on other strategies if they land in Group C.

Assignment: Group C, Ro16 Game 3, Quarterfinals Game 3

Accommodations: Surpronuk Aerospace Hub, Hotell Eiendommel (teams 1-3), Windhorst 6 Motel (teams 4-6), Flip's Bar & Grill

Tourism: Activities in Surpronuk revolve around nature. Much of the northern peninsula all around Surpronuk is the natural range of the famous Cosumarite Azure Dragon and is designated as nature reserve. Go on one of the many hiking, horse-back riding or river-kayaking trips and you might just see one. The landscape consists of ancient rolling hills and small rocky mountains and steppes, all thickly forested by pine and other evergreen trees. These deep, dark forests are thought to have mystical properties and are holy in some old folk religions of the region. People in the city of Surpronuk itself are active and health-conscious. The city has a unique feel due to its boxy architecture designed to withstand blizzards and many many statues.

Venue: Stadion av Klippan (30,750) - Small stadium, but with a lot of character - much like its city. Its intimate atmosphere will lend itself well to traveling contingents of fans.
Image

Port Stoneshore, Stoneshore Fief

Located at the very tip of the southern peninsula, Stoneshore is a one-of-a-kind place. It is almost constantly shrouded in fog and, despite its population of 2.5 million, maintains a small-town feel. Time seems to run slower here amongst the mist, spires of gothic architecture and never-ending stretches of grey slate cliffs overlooking the grey sea. Oh yeah, and all the grey industrial buildings that provide the bulk of the local economy. Ok, Stoneshore is a bit of a dreary place, but because there's not much else to provide excitement, it is also the most sports-crazy city in Cosumar. Whether it's the Bruins of local Stoneshore College, soccer club Stoneshore United or CFL team Stoneshore Predators, people here go RABID supporting their teams.

Assignment: Group D, Ro16 Game 4, Third Place Game

Accommodations: Memalon Airfield, Manheim Hotel Stoneshore (teams 1-6), Paper Moon Chinese Buffet, Pita Emporium, Downtown Stoneshore haunted segway-tour

Tourism: Östrad, a short ride from Stoneshore, is home to Cosumar's Space Exploration Agency (SEA) headquarters and primary launch site. See the world class facility that has put colonies on almost a dozen planets and probed hundreds of star systems. If you time your visit right, you might just see a ship or rocket takeoff or landing! Stoneshore itself has many historical buildings, particularly of the gothic style. There is also a famous lighthouse at the utmost tip of the peninsula that has played a role in some old Cosumarite wars and legends.

Venue: SweetHaven Stadium (88,000) - The home stadium of the Cosumarite team and one of the most famous gridiron-specific stadiums in Cosumar and the world. Its distinctive shape has become synonymous with top-class sport architecture. Sponsored by Cosumar's most famous ice cream producer, it is decked out with state-of-the-art amenities and will give out free SweetHaven ice cream at half time during this World Bowl.
Image

Klyde, North Klyde Fief

Klyde City is one of Cosumar's oldest, founded over 900 years ago. Situated on the western shore of its island of the same name, it is a short underwater rail ride across the gulf from Centus or Ramusok. In ancient times, its port served a critical function for sea travel between Klyde and mainland Cosumarus because it is where the stait is the narrowest. Much of its local economy is still derived from the sea. But Klyde is now a modern metropolitan hub of 4.5 million with a diverse population and industry. It still has strong roots to its local Irish and Welsh heritage though. Outsiders often still think of leprechauns, clovers and swashbuckling drinking songs when Klyde is mentioned. Klydians, as they are known, have a peculiar propensity for tea of all varieties when they aren't chugging cider and ale. It is the Tea Capital of Cosumar. Seafood is also ubiquitous. Moderate climate, very windy.

Assignment: Group E, Ro16 Game 5, Semifinal Game 1

Provided Accommodations: O'Riley International Airport (arrival), The Lurys Klyde Hotel (teams 1-3), Lancaster Lodge (teams 4-6), Keane's Bistro & Grill, Café Medicci, Klyde City Tour-By-Segway

Tourism: The famous Klyde Marina stretches miles long and is five minutes from your hotels and the stadium. Walk along the water and enjoy innumerable attractions along the way, from aquariums to boutiques to barking harbor seals. It's a little cold for the beach right now, but there's stuff to do downtown as well. MacArthur Symphony Hall is world-famous, and there are Irish bars aplenty - often with live Celtic music and even Celtic Punk. And hey, it's basketball season so you could always go watch the local CBA team - the North Klyde Imps.

Venue: The Klyde Sportsplex (90,000) - When it was built 15 years ago, it was regarded as one of the most technologically advanced venues in the multiverse because of the number of events and sports it could host. It is still one of the finest in AO, having recently hosted the SBCC and NSCF Championship Game. It is situated adjacent to the scenic Klyde Bay - giving fans a fantastic view of the ocean and skyline.
Image

Crawford, Numenvernien Fief

Located in Cosumar's semi-tropical southwest, Crawford has 365-days-a-year sunshine. Known as "the capital of the West", it is the only city of at least 5 million west of the Central Desert. The total population is just over 7 million, making Crawford the fifth-most populous city in Cosumar. Huge variety of lifestyles here, including the largest Vloo population of any host city (intelligent blue-skinned humanoid species native to Cosumar), with a colorful night scene (literally - neon lights everywhere) swirling with the sounds of the famous punk rock and blues scenes. Known for having fickle sports fans.

Assignment: Group F, Ro16 Game 6, Semifinal Game 2

Accommodations: Mannawa International Airport, Manheim Hotel Crawford (teams 1-3), The Palmer Regency (teams 4-6), Floriano's Italian Restaurant, Simmer

Tourism: Have a good of a time on the water at Lake Crawford, which the city sits on the edge of. It's not a large lake, but there are kayaking, swimming, and sailing opportunities aplenty. 30 minutes east of Crawford is Everlong Rainforest, a large swath of preserved jungle and swamp - in case alligators, toucans and sloths are more your thing. If you don't feel like driving/hiking to see the indigenous wildlife, Crawford also happens to have the largest zoo in Cosumar - with a self-sustaining population of the rare Cosumarite spotted elephant.

Venue: Orangi Stadium (61,000) - A beautiful stadium that was built only six years ago with an open, sunny ambiance that matches its city. Many seats have a view of Lake Crawford beyond. Its primary tenant is the Crawford Comrades of the CFL. Crawford City FC (CCFC) also plays here often.
Image

Pelethas, Morponte Fief

Pelethas is kind of the California of Cosumar. It has everything. Yep, the Mediterranean climate too. Mmmm. Nestled on the south-central coast between the Jagged Mountains and the ocean, there is an enormous mountain chain to the north and beautiful golden-sand beaches (the finest in Cosumar) to the south. Pelethas has a prevailing image as a quaint little paradise-town with more tourists than actual inhabitants. But with a population of 3.1 million, Pelethas' size is often underestimated even by Cosumarites. Thanks to the mountains, precipitation rates are very high, enabling Pelethas to also contribute to the economy via agriculture. Of course, the fruit, nut and vegetable farms aren't too glamorous, so they're a bit removed from the actual city for the tourists' sakes. Except the vineyards of course, because tourists like wine more than carrots.

Assignment: Group G, Ro16 Game 7, World Bowl Championship Game

Accommodations: Paloma Na'Goli Air & Space Port, Windhorst Luxury Suites South (teams 1-3), Windhorst Luxury Suites North (teams 4-6), Shady Grove Bar & Grill, J-Mac's Traditional Scottish Cuisine

Tourism: Whether your team likes to ski or jetski, or rock climb or suntan...there's something for them here. Pelethas Peak (8,912 meters) is the third-highest point in Cosumar and towers over the city. Getting to the view at the top would make for a great profile pic! In the city itself, there's tons and tons of shopping. And more shopping. Oh, and Cosumar's largest chocolate factory, tallest roller coaster, and most comprehensive anatomical museum. There's also the local basketball team, the Pelethas Mastodons, who are quite good and in the middle of their playoff push.

Venue: The Xanadu Dome (74,000) - After finally finishing construction a couple months ago, the state-of-the-art Xanadu Dome is ready for action. The World Bowl will act as the Grand Opening for this brand new stadium constructed for the CFL's Pelethas Thunder. Will your team be the first of what will someday be many historic teams to achieve greatness in this stadium?
Image

Hagenheim, Duversia Fief

Hagenheim is an oasis of civilization (2.7 million) smack in the middle of Pristine Forest, Cosumar's largest expanse of uninterrupted nature. Located in Cosumar's far northwest, it is very chilly at this time of year, though not as bitterly cold as Surpronuk. Hagenheim is Cosumar's "greenest" city in every possible way. Appearance-wise, it's as if the city is growing out of the forest - there are trees and vines and shit all over the place like some kind of urban jungle. Like how you would imagine an abandoned city to look in 100 years. Many people live in treehouses, sometimes networked together to form tree-neighborhoods (a concept borrowed from Kalloroda). 58% of the population is vegan and another 19% is vegetarian. Hagenheim is also Cosumar's hub for renewable energy innovation and has the lowest carbon emissions of any city with over 2 million people. Perhaps unsurprisingly by this point, it's also known as the "hipster" capital of Cosumar. Hipsters, hipsters everywhere.

Assignment: Group H, Ro16 Game 8, Quarterfinal Game 4

Accomodations: Jorn Hagen Airfield, Renaissance Hotel (teams 1-3), Elsing-Prugge Lodge (teams 4-6), Dirty Martin's Vegan (But Not Actually Dirty) Fast Food, Smiling Angie's Whole Earth Food Co-Op

Tourism: The whole freaking city is just awesome to explore. It's so unorganized, like a maze, with cool hidden places all around that you can stumble into. South End is known for having the most expansive tree-neighborhood, and is open to visitors. Indie rock, folktronica, alternative hip hop, new wave and other 'hipster genres' have thriving scenes in Hagenheim, which also has the most record stores per square mile of any Cosumarite city. Coffee shops and hookah lounges are also ubiquitous. Hagenheim also has by far the most marijuana use per capita of any Cosumarite city. If you walk down the road for more than ten minutes, someone is bound to offer you some.

Venue: Jorn Hagen Memorial Stadium (32,000) - Field with a lot of history, as it is over 150 years old. Home to the CFL's Hagenheim Vagabonds, lacrosse team Hagenheim Elves and third-division soccer club Pristine Forest FC.

Cosumar National Football Team - World Bowl XXVII

Basic Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Demonym: Cosumarite

Nickname: Dragons

Debut: Baptism of Iron VI (3rd place), World Bowl XI

Ranking: 5

Style Modifier: Moderately Offensive (+2)

Football in Cosumar:
Football, as it is known here, is the second most popular spectator sport behind only soccer. The Cosumar Football League (CFL) commands a strong Fiefdom-wide following. The most recent season's results can be found here. Cosumar's World Bowl team is a collection of All-Stars from the CFL. Cosumar also boasts two of the most prominent college football programs in the world: Ramusok Capital University (RCU) and Stoneshore College. RCU and Stoneshore have won the last two NationStates College Football (NSCF) championships. As such, many of Cosumar's World Bowl players had experience in NSCF with either RCU or Stoneshore College prior to their CFL careers. For example, Ramusok Capital University's star NSCF-winning running back Avery Broddick was drafted into the CFL by theJadde Bruins and has become a star there, landing him on the National Team for this World Bowl. As previously mentioned, football is immensely popular in the Fiefdom at collegiate, professional, AND international levels. Many fans stubbornly take offense to use of terms other than "football" when describing the sport.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Yes
Choose scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but only one per match
Godmod scoring events: Yes
Godmod injuries: Yes
Godmod other events: Yes, go crazy, just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory. Trying to kill him is fine, as is staging a fake assassination using actors/other creative means. And if you do anything too weird, Telegram me to give me a heads up, but you don't need to ask permission.
Note: Whatever you do, expect reciprocation. If you injure my players, I have permission to injure yours. If you godmod, I have permission to godmod. I will not try to figure out whether we are both violating each other's RP permissions or neither one is and will assume you made an excpetion if necessary.
Style Modifier: -5

Most Gregoryisgodistanis (that is the demonym) do not have real names, only titles and government IDs. For instance, our starting quarterback is Zookeeper ZNZ949AHX. This means his job is Zookeeper and his government ID is ZNZ949AHX. Government IDs do not change throughout one's life, but titles may. For instance, our quarterback was formerly known as Youth ZNZ949AHX until he turned 18, then Lion Tamer ZNZ949AHX while he worked as a Lion Tamer, before becoming a Zookeeper and acquiring his current title. He should be referred to by his full name at all times, never ZNZ949AHX. A few high-ranking government elites have personal names.

Gregoryisgodistan normally goes with 2 wide receivers, 1 tight end, a halfback, and a fullback on offense, but may use other sets, such as 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB, etc.

On defense, our base is a 4-3-4 (4 linemen, 3 linebackers, 4 backs) but we also use a 4-2-5 nickel from time to time, and occasionally, a 3-2-6 dime. We NEVER play prevent defense.)

Additionally, since our success rate on two-point conversions is roughly 53%, meaning the expected value from going for 2 is higher than the expected value from an extra point, we almost always go for two points after a touchdown, unless we're either winning in a blowout (to avoid appearing unsportsmanlike) or if one point is equally as good as two (such as if we've just scored a touchdown to tie the game, in which case usually we'll kick the extra point for the lead unless it's early in the game.)

Our defense is very strong, but our offense is mediocre at best. Most of our scores are either directly scored by the defense or scored by the defense setting up the offense with good field position. We also frequently will use Defected Chicago Bear Brian Urlacher (more on him later) as a blitzing linebacker, meaning we're sending five men.

Note: our head coach calls all plays, unlike most teams.

What is an Enemy Crusher? And why are they all so fat?
Enemy Crushers work for the government to crush people as an "enhanced interrogation" technique to get them to confess. Many of them die if they don't confess in time. They are fat in order to successfully inflict pain upon the torturee. That's why most die. The Enemy Crushers also crushed to death multiple referees, plus several players, coaches, and fans of the the opposing teams since Gregoryisgodistan's debut. You have been warned. Also, Enemy Crusher Piotr von Porker is the brother of the late Samuel "Porky" von Porker who was executed in Free Republics for crushing someone to death during World Bowl XXII He will likely look for revenge if Gregoryisgodistan winds up playing the Republicans again. Furthermore, the enemy crushers have gained a lot of weight since the last World Bowl and will be doing even more crushing.

Is Enemy Crusher Carl Paladino related to the politician from New York?
No, and he will crush to death anyone who asks him that. So don't try, unless you want to be crushed to death.

Did Darrelle Revis and Brian Urlacher really defect to Gregoryisgodistan?
No, but the government claims to have kidnapped them. Following the Baptism of Iron, in which "Uralcher" was named MVP of the final, the two "kidnapped NFL players" claimed they liked Gregoryisgodistan so much that they wanted to live here forever, even though Lord Almighty Gregory offered them the opportunity to leave. But in reality, they are just random Gregoryisgodistanis who are good at football who were instructed to pretend to be Urlacher and Revis. Keep in mind that everyone in the country believes the official government story because they are so propagandized, even though "Urlacher" and "Revis" look nothing like their real counterparts.

"Liked Gregoryisgodistan so much and decided to stay here forever" sounds an awful lot like Stockholm Syndrome, considering they were allegedly kidnapped, right?
It is often debated among Gregoryisgodistanis whether it is Stockholm Syndrome or true love of the country, and in fact both players mentioned Stockholm Syndrome then specifically denied it. A recent survey showed that 76% of Gregoryisgodistanis believe the two genuinely love this country, 24% believe it is Stockholm Syndrome, and 0% believe the "absurd foreign propaganda" that the players are not really who they supposedly are.

You do realize Darrelle Revis doesn't play for the Jets, anymore, right?
Exactly, and the official government story is that he no longer plays for the Jets because he was kidnapped and later defected. In reality, he was traded to the Buccaneers and eventually wound up with the Patriots.

And Urlacher's retired, you know?
Yes, but the official story is we kidnapped him and he defected permanently.

How should I refer to these two in my RP's?
By their official names, but feel free to use irony quotes to imply doubt as to the name's veracity.

What's a pervert chaser? Sounds creepy.
It really isn't. They chase down people who commit sex crimes like mooing, rape, molestation, or indecent exposure, then cut their privates off with a butcher's knife. Without any anesthetic or Novocaine. Don't be a pervert in Gregoryisgodistan. Or a Pervert Chaser will catch you.

Are all the von Streudels related?
Yes, they are brothers.

What is a Grammar Enforcement Officer?
A Grammar Enforcement Officer is a law enforcement officer in Gregoryisgodistan who is responsible for enforcing the use of proper grammar. Using improper grammar is punishable by 28 days in a grammar reeducation camp under Gregoryisgodistani law. The Grammar Enforcement Officers enforce this law. There are also Spelling Enforcement Officers, Mathematics Enforcement Officers, and Speaking Enforcement Officers, and respective reeducation camps.

The Leviathans of Schottia

G.F.C
World Bowl XXVII

Team Info
Schottia have began to make a fair bit of headway since their smattering of semi-professionals, scraped their way to third place in the Baptism of Iron. The journey to Gregoryisgodistan was a real eye-opener for the young team consisting mostly of students, rugby converts, and hobbyists. The team exceeded all of their own expectations by holding their own against some of the better teams in the world, finishing with a respectable haul of points.

One year later, and following big advancements in coaching, the team went one better by qualifying got the knock-out stages in Electrum. Even with the team coming on leaps and bounds, there would have been no one who would have dared dream the squad could have achived this feat.

Now back in for a third tournament, and with a five million investment in the sport back home, Schottia will be hoping to make similar improvements. The most notable change comes from Lewis Patterson moving up to the coaching staff. The former team captain was instrumental in putting together the Schottic Gridiron team, and is almost single headedly responsible for the rise of the sport in the country.

Playing Style
Schottia have relied heavily on their scoring ability to get them out of trouble, as they have historically been shaky at the back. The side look to push forward at every opportunity and it can sometimes lead to mistakes along the way. For the most part Schottia have struggled against bigger, better organised teams, so they will be hoping they can put that right in Cosumar.

Schottia have a strong kicker in the form of Mark Tomkins-Brown, a former rugby player, who has a keen eye for goal.

World Bowl XXVII Roster

Nation: Federation of Allamunnic States
Official Nickname: The Regulars

Overview:
The Allamunnic States are a nation of approximately 90 million people in the northerly latitudes of the region of Cornellia. The Allamunnic National Gridiron Team can make a reasonable claim to being the most successful international gridiron football program to ever play, having won five World Bowl Championships (World Bowls XVI, XVII, XIX, XXIII, XXV) and playing in one unsuccessful finals berth (World Bowl XVIII). Moreover, even in their weaker years, the Regulars have tended to at least make reasonably deep playoff runs, usually reaching at least the Quarterfinals or Semifinals.

The two more-recent championships have come under current head coach Baeryk Vaalburger, a member of the Vaalburger family, which has produced a disproportionate number of successful gridiron coaches. Baeryk's father, Stevan, is credited with being the first head coach of a true Allamunnic National Gridiron Program (prior to his tenure, the nation was represented by an AGL all-star squad). Sandwiched between the Vaalburgers was the wildly-successful promoted-linebackers coach Ryan Smart who guided the team to its first four finals berths (and three championships).

The Regulars have made their bread as a smashmouth, primarily-ball-control oriented team that wins on the strength of a hard-hitting, play-making defense and a methodical, efficient, but unsexy offense, winning in the trenches courtesy of those singularly-terrifying Allamunnic linemen. The approach seems to have paid dividends, as Vaalburger has lead the Regulars to championships in four years, and the team looks like a solid contender to potentially win its third under his watch this year.

Some may notice that, despite the annual World Bowl cycle landing in the summer, during the Allamunnic Gridiron League's offseason, none of the Regulars have domestic-league franchises listed. This is due to a long-standing rule that players on the National Team are not permitted to be on a domestic league roster, AGL or otherwise. Players who wish to pursue domestic league play must resign from the national team first. As such, while some players on the roster are former AGL players, and many will go on to play in the league in the future, none of them are currently members of any roster that is not the Allamunnic National Gridiron Team's.

Uniforms:
From left: Blue (home), Gray (away), Black (alternate)
Image

Retired Numbers: Starting last year, the team began to retire a handful of numbers of Allamunnic National Team greats. The first number retired was Honorius Waalturs' #58, followed shortly thereafter by Elias Mourner's #10. The home opener in Rikardsburg during World Bowl XXVII will see QB Markus Daalhulm's #5 jersey retired as well. After that, the only other number for which retirement is being considered is HB/FB Ole Nurdsunn's #44.
Commissioner: Hadley Thornburger (Age: 71) - The long-time Allamunnic Sporting Commissioner is still, strictly-speaking, at the head of the national team's power structure, just as he is with every other Allamunnic national sporting team. However, because of the team's long-term success since Ryan Smart took over and since, Thornburger has largely taken a hands-off role for gridiron, only stepping in in a handful of crises.

Team President: Benjamin Jamesunn (Age: 65) – The team's long-time general manager finally received a long-overdue promotion to heading up the organization's front-office. Jamesunn these days leaves most of the team's day-to-day operations in the hands of his many capable subordinates, but he seems to enjoy every now and then taking over for some office crisis while setting the team's overall direction on its business and management sides.

General Manager: Erik Warnur (Age: 48) - Following Jamesunn's promotion, long-time personnel man and scout Erik Warnur was promoted to the general manager's role. Given his tenure as Jamesunn's assistant, and his role in a large portion of the team's personnel actions and the like, Warnur has been well-prepared for the role.

Director of Player Personnel: Anna Torrensunn (Age: 40) - Part of the reason Jamesunn felt comfortable promoting Warnur is the presence of Anna Torrensunn, a scout who was promoted to Director of Player Personnel with Jamesunn and Warnur's promotions. Torrensunn spent a lot of time as a scout for the team, and has put in enough work there in finding solid pieces for the Regulars that Jamesunn is positive she will make a good team with Warnur.

Team Doctors: Graagur Maarkussunn (Age: 60)(Head); Rynna Eriksunn (Age: 53)

Athletic Trainers: Maarda Lindersunn (Age: 43)(Head); Bryndyn Nyurdlunn (Age: 42); Torren Udunsunn (Age: 38); Kaarl Mendelsunn (Age: 39); Olaf Knutsunn (Age: 37); Inna Wyllur (Age: 36); Lyna Henriksunn (Age: 31); Shae Eriklunn (Age: 27)

Head Coach: Baeryk Vaalburger (Age: 52) – The successor to three-time champion Ryan Smart, and the team's former offensive coordinator, can now also boast two championships of his own after defeating Saintland at World Bowl XXIII and Equestrian States at World Bowl XXV. Vaalburger has kept the Regulars true to their smashmouth and defense-first roots, bringing in enough talent and coaching them well enough to help solidify the Allamunnic national program's place as the most successful in the world.

Assistant Head Coach: Rikard Olafsunn (Age: 47) - A former minor-league gridiron head coach, Olafsunn jumped at the opportunity to work with Vaalburger again (after the two coached together in Leifspurt for a few years). Like Vaalburger, he has experience as both an offensive and defensive coordinator, although unlike Baeryk, he found his calling on defense rather than on offense. Olafsunn serves mostly as an extra pair of legs for Vaalburger while he learns some tricks of the trade from his friend, with hopes of eventually being hired as a head coach.

Strength & Conditioning: Harald Vynnsunn (Age: 41)
Strength & Conditioning Assistant: Junna Riktur (Age: 37)

Overview: The significant amounts of turnover continue, with the team's leading receivers and tailback from a year ago departing, leaving a new generation to step up. That said, the offensive line and QB combination remain the same, Godwyn Braanur is still the same major red zone threat, and Torren Tormundsunn has proven ready to maul defenders as a lead blocker.

And the approach is definitely the same; the Regulars will continue to maul opponents and rely on their power running game to move the ball, using the passing game as a change-up to keep defenses honest. Canny veteran Izaak Kleiner has proven himself a capable game-manager who can make enough big plays and avoid mistakes enough to let the team win. The remaining receivers are capable chainmovers, even if they aren't the prototypical, playmaking duo the team had before. The tailback room, if not as stacked as it used to be, is still full of capable running backs.

It is worth note that the Regulars use a type of hurry-up offense very frequently. Although they don't quite do the "two-minute drill" the way some teams do (most of the time), a big part of the Regulars' strategy relies on superior conditioning and getting back to the line quickly, even when killing the clock; while the offense can sit in formation and know when the play will begin. It is not at all unusual for the Regulars to win by simply wearing down opposing defenses until they are helpless against the Regulars' power-run game.

Anyone playing a World Bowl-based fantasy league might be disappointed by the Allamunnic rushers and receivers; the team tends to spread the ball around a lot, particularly now that they lack a true bell-cow running back.

In short, despite a few departures, don't expect this offense to look markedly different from World Bowl XXVI, or even the unit that won World Bowl XXV.

Default Front: (Weak) I Formation; Two-Tight Ace

Offensive Coordinator: Hanrik Wurfytur (Age: 41) - As has often been the case, because the Allamunnic offense flows through the offensive line, the offensive line position coach has been promoted to take over as offensive coordinator. Wurfytur will, at least for World Bowl XXV, serve as mostly a personnel coordinator and package designer, where play-calling duties will remain with head coach Baeryk Vaalburger. However, the hope may well be to eventually hand over play-calling duties to Wurfytur.

Quarterbacks Coach: Maarkus Daalhulm (Age: 44) – Daalhulm was noted during his playing career for having good fundamentals and technique, even as he got inconsistent stats on the field. He briefly played alongside Leif Eriksunn, and helped shape him into a capable starting quarterback. With Eriksunn gone, it falls to Daalhulm to help develop a new signal-caller for the Regulars.

Running Backs Coach: Haanryk Stahlburg (Age: 43) – A long-time national team and AGL running back, Haanryk Stahlburg was at one point one of the most explosive running backs in the world. These days, he's using what he learned over a sixteen-year career as a tailback to help other running backs improve their game.

Wide Receivers Coach: Mikel Dunn (Age: 45) – After Zaak Quinn headed to the AGL for an offensive coordinator's job, the Regulars hired retired former National Team and Ironmongers receiver Mikel Dunn. Dunn eked out a long career both in the AGL and at the international level of competition, and his technique was second-to-none by the time he retired, making him well-suited to coach up the Regulars receivers.

Tight-Ends Coach: Zak Hall (Age: 36) – Hall has now spent two years as tight-ends coach, and its hard to tell what the results are; Godwyn Braanur was a monster even before he showed up, and the two players behind him have seen relatively limited action, so the jury is still out.

Offensive Line Coach: Vaalhulm Rikken (Age: 35) – Rikken has been helping to coach the offensive line long enough that he’s taken over as its primary coach, with some help from his offensive coordinator during position drills. Rikken is at least partly responsible for the Regulars’ offensive line continuing to be a major strength and asset over other teams.

Overview: The defense has been the strength of the Allamunnic team for the entirety of the last decade's run of dominance. Despite recent waves for retirements and departures, this remains one of the world’s premier units, with talented players at every position and considerable depth across the board.

The team has switched back over under new defensive coordinator Theodur Laansur (promoted after former coordinator Elias Mourner was hired to lead an AGL expansion franchise) to a 4-3 base-front, taking advantage of the team’s considerable depth and talent on the defensive line; although their linebacking corps is by no means thin, and the secondary remains quite capable, this defense’s greatest strength lies in the trenches, and nobody is better able to understand how to take advantage of that than Laansur.

Default Front: 4-3 Base

Defensive Coordinator: Theodur Laansur (Age: 43) – Although he still works a lot with the team’s defensive line, Theodur Laansur has been promoted to defensive coordinator following the departure of Elias Mourner to lead the Innusburg Huskies, an AGL expansion franchise.

Defensive Line Coach: Archie Wagner (Age: 40) - Archie Wagner retired after World Bowl XXII and was promptly offered a job as Theo Laansur's assistant coaching the defensive line for the Regulars. He jumped at the opportunity, and has now taken over full time as the primary defensive line coach following Laansur’s promotion to defensive coordinator.

Linebackers Coach: Miles Ryan (Age: 42) - Following his retirement from playing, the Regulars were happy to bring former Regulars linebacker Miles Ryan back as inside linebackers coach, one of two coaches being brought in to replace Jethro Myers in his capacity as a position coach. Ryan has seventeen years of playing experience with the National Team, Thomasburg Ironmongers, and Grimmeberg Broncos, and should be a good choice to coach up the same position he played at.

Linebackers Assistant Coach: Jason Ridley (Age: 42) - Jason Ridley has been added to the coaching staff to help Miles Ryan replace Jethro Myers in his capacity as a position coach, coaching the outside linebackers. Ridley is one of the few former players on this staff that never played for the national team, instead having spent his entire sixteen-year career as a strong-side linebacker with the Leifspurt Vikings. However, as a player who spent his entire career undersized, he's gotten by on excellent technique, which makes him a logical choice as a coach.

Defensive Backs Coach: Andrik Ierunmungur (Age: 42) - Another recently-retired Regular, Andrik Ierunmungur was one of the team's best corners until his retirement after World Bowl XXII. For now, he'll be in charge of coaching the cornerbacks specifically, but there's plenty of reason to think he's slated to replace Elias Mourner as the secondary's position coach.

Defensive Backs Assistant Coach: Leif Coelmunn (Age: 35) - Coelmunn was a back-up safety on the team for quite some time, generally doomed by a lack of physical talent in spite of spot-on technique. Although the move was initially panned by many ("he wasn't even good!" being a frequent refrain), initial reviews from players and other coaches have confirmed the move as a good one.

Special Teams Coordinator: Daanyl Mueller (Age: 64) – The Regulars' long-time kicking coach takes over as special teams coordinator following the departure of Haargild Baannun to the AGL for a head-coaching job. Mueller has proven amusingly anti-careerist, only taking the promotion to coordinator at Vaalburger's insistence.

Kicking Coach: Phillipa Demirici (Age: 50) - When Mueller was promoted, the team was able to coax long-time kicker Phillipa Demirici out of retirement, of a sort; rather than come back as a player (she played her last game in World Bowl XIV), she would come back as the Regulars' new kicking coach. Justin Kynyks and Wyatt Skode have both reported being very happy with the coaching they've been receiving from Phillipa, and there is hope that she will help the kicking game remain consistent.

Return Coach: Gretchen Vaalhulmsunn (Age: 37) - Vaalhulmsunn retired from her professional playing career when her speed started to go; as a return specialist, losing that was pretty much fatal to her career, no matter how good she was at reading and finding holes and slipping tackles. With a young group of return specialists, the pressure is on Vaalhulmsunn to teach them the tricks of the trade quickly.

Federal Steel Field, Rikardsburg (Staalmaark)(Capacity: 108,000)
Harborview Stadium, Vaalhulmspurt (Lower Tyrrslynd)(Capacity: 106,000)
Royal Stadium, Onneria (Onneria)(Capacity: 107,000)
Note: The World Bowl is considered an annual event in the Allamunnic States, and it takes place during the summer so as not to overlap with the regular season of the Allamunnic Gridiron League (AGL). Due to its latitude, as well as the climatic conditions in Rikardsburg (high-altitude, wet mountains), Vaalhulmspurt (coastal near a cold ocean), Aldhuld (high altitude, arid region), Skarrsboro and Onneria (fair climate), weather can range from pleasantly-warm and sunny (70's, Fahrenheit) to chilly and raining (low-50's, Fahrenheit). All games are played outdoors, regardless of weather, and as such, before Allamunnic home games, I will try to provide a weather report so you can RP accordingly.

Style Modifier: -2.5
- Choose Scorers: I'd rather you didn't. If you do choose my scorers, if I RP within twenty-four hours, I may ask you to change my scorers. This is due to specific story-lines and characters I may want to emphasize.
- Injure Players: You may injure my players; I'd prefer you not injure more than two or three in a game, and while the injury may end the player's involvement in that game, I will decide on any further inactivity for a player caused by injury.
- Penalize Players: Any team considered to be a rival of the Allamunnic States (i.e. Qazox, Cassadaigua, Karditan, Saintland), pretty much gets a pass to do this at will; those games may slip into 'dirty' territory. Anyone else may penalize, but should keep it realistic.
- Godmod Injuries: Yes, but with same provisos as injuring players through normal means. I determine severity outside game-ending (for the player).
- Godmod Other Events: Don't kill anyone or conflict with any of the above permissions. Also, if you're gonna do this, have some fun with it.
- Photographs: Please do not use photographs with any players intended to depict players on my team.
- Note: All players have stats of Age, Height, Weight, Tendencies, College, and Hometown provided, along with a brief description.
- Additional Note: The Allamunnic defense has a very stout front seven that will make it hard for opposing tailbacks and will pressure passers; if you're ranked below me and not an Allamunnic rival, I'd appreciate it if you at least made a note of any success on the ground being difficult. Moreover, whether or not they're sacks, opposing QB's tend to get hit a lot. They might well be successful, but try to keep in mind that your QB (again, unless you're in the Top Ten or one of my rivals) will likely be getting smacked around a lot (or at least make note of an exceptional effort to contain the pass rush). (Credit where credit is due: Cassadaigua first put this sort of note in, and it seemed to be a good idea, so I've followed suit).

Team Captains (Coin-Toss Purposes):
Offense: Godwyn Braanur (TE)
Defense: Waldr Baersvylk (DT)
Special Teams: Wyatt Skode (P)

Quarterbacks
QB#02 - Izaak Kleiner - Age: 35; H: 6'3"; W: 231lbs - Saamylsburg, ON
QB#13 - Waldr Grenn - Age: 21; H: 6'4"; W: 230lbs - Jaarlsburg, OW
QB#20 - Ryan Tanner - Age: 28; H: 6'3"; W: 228lbs - Haensley, SM
Izaak Kleiner is a canny veteran, who, while not as physically-talented as some (partly due to his age), more than makes up for it with good decision-making, accuracy, and a tendency to get his throws out quickly, not leaving much pressure on the offensive line. Ryan Tanner is rather typical of AGL journeyman QBs, and he has been brought in after his contract with Kaepenhulm expired to back-up Izaak Kleiner. Tanner has some mobility, but he is still fundamentally a pocket-passer with a pro-level arm and a fair degree of accuracy. Waldr Grenn has a lot of physical talent, with size, a big arm, and plenty of smarts, but is extremely raw, and so needs at least a year or two to learn before he's trusted with the starting job.

Halfback
HB#22 - Ella Kaarbrynn - Age: 22; H: 5'9"; W: 166lbs - Spaal, SP
HB#35 - Bryndyn Traewyk - Age: 21; H: 5'11"; W: 217lbs - Dunnmaar, BW
HB#26 - Dexter Shraedur - Age: 29; H: 6'0"; W: 232lbs - Skaarphulm, LT
HB#24 - Brandt Hendriks - Age: 24; H: 6'0"; W: 223lbs - Tyrrswatch, UT (OUT)
Ella Kaarbrynn was a pleasant surprise in World Bowl XXVI, coming on strong down the stretch as Graagur Baaltrsunn's primary change-up. When Baaltrsunn headed to the AGL to play for his hometown Bruins, the team felt confident giving Kaarbrynn lead-back duties, although she will not be dominating the team's carries the way Baaltrsunn did (expect her to get about 10 to 15 rushes per game). Bryndyn Traewyk is an AGL undrafted free agent who was scooped from the Dunnmaar Bruins' practice squad after Hendriks & Brand were injured. Traewyk has flashed a good mix of power and explosiveness in practice, but there's ample worry that he went undrafted for a reason. Dexter Shraedur is a longtime AGL veteran who was cut to save money to make room for younger, promising players. Shraedur is mostly a power back, and he's been brought in mostly to add veteran depth.

Fullbacks
FB#45 - Torren Tormundsunn - Age: 23; H: 6'4"; W: 248lbs - Haalsten, UT
With Graagur Baaltrsunn gone as well, Tormundsunn will likely be more than simply a lead-blocker; he is in line to take over at least some of the team's short-yardage carries (between five and ten rushes per game) and perhaps some work at tight-end. That said, Tormundsunn will still see most of his work as, first-and-foremost, a lead blocker. He's good at that.

Tight End
TE#85 – Godwyn Braanur – Age: 26; H: 6'7"; W: 260lbs – Kristinburg, ON
TE#82 - Udun Jaarlsunn - Age: 21; H: 6'6"; W: 262lbs - Corvik, BW
TE#88 - Junn Lindstrom - Age: 25; H: 6'5"; W: 251lbs - Onneria, ON (OUT)
Godwyn Braanur is the team's biggest redzone threat, with long arms, big, sure hands, and a lot of size. He's also deceptively quick and explosive, making him the complete package as a receiver, and is a capable blocker to boot. Junn Lindstrom is similar to Braanur in that he has a complete skill set, even if he is not as explosive and fantastically talented as his teammate. Udun Jaarlsunn is a big, raw talent who has been brought in for depth and to begin learning behind Braanur and Lindstrom.

Wide Receiver
WR#87 - Waldr Hoerst - Age: 23; H: 6'5"; W: 220lbs - Innusburg, SM
WR#12 - Emma Kaarlsunn - Age: 24; H: 5'10"; W: 164lbs - Vaalhulmspurt, LT
WR#23 - Ole Brandt - Age: 24; H: 6'1"; W: 214lbs - Hillen, AL
WR#16 - Maark Aksvingur - Age: 23; H: 6'0"; W: 205lbs - Hendriksburg, OW
WR#81 - Paul Jaans - Age: 21; H: 6'0"; W: 200lbs - Torrenhuld, UT (OUT)
Waldr Hoerst is a big, sure-handed target who, while not slow, does not have break-away speed, and whose route-running needs some polish. He will usually line up as a split-end. Emma Kaarlsunn is a speedy deep threat, while being reasonably sure-handed. Her limited catching radius compared to the others is her main drawback, as well as her indifferent route-running. Still, she can take the top off of a defense. She will generally line up at flanker. Ole Brandt is a converted running back, moved to wideout from a crowded position in te hopes of utilizing his athletic ability more effectively. Maark Aksvingur are relatively young, moderately-sized receivers who are quick, but lack elite speed, and are capable wideouts, but may have trouble under coverage. Paul Jaans plays like a quick slot receiver, but is injured.

Left Tackle
LT#60 - Edrik Jurgensunn - Age: 29; H: 6'4"; W: 330lbs - Corvik, BW
LT#75 - Bryndyn Kaarlsunn - Age: 22; H: 6'6"; W: 327lbs - Harrensburg, HR
LT#54 - Bronn Hendriks - Age: 22; H: 6'5"; W: 329lbs - Skarrsboro, US
Edrik Jurgensunn is the only remaining offensive lineman with any starting experience from previous World Bowls, and will be asked to lock down the blind side of the QB. Bryndyn Kaarlsunn and Bronn Hendriks are both big, nasty, vicious players that are strong at the point of attack. Both need some experience and further training to polish up their relatively raw technique, though.

Left Guard
LG#62 - Junn Braandur - Age: 23; H: 6'2"; W: 316lbs - Dunnmaar, DM
LG#72 - Harald Rorynn - Age: 22; H: 6'3"; W: 318lbs - Helter, FL
Junn Braandur is deceptively athletic, complementing significant strength. He's not as nasty-tempered as some of his colleagues, but he makes up for it with superb technique. Harald Rorynn fits the more typical Allamunnic lineman mold of being a mean, aggressive blocker, particularly on the run, and, like most of the other young back-ups, his technique is a bit raw.

Center
C#55 - Tyrrus Ungur - Age: 21; H: 6'4"; W: 324lbs - Dyrm, NY
C#50 – Derrik Hael - Age: 32; H: 6'2"; W: 319lbs - St. Mikel, ON (OUT)
Derrik Hael, despite being the most senior remaining offensive lineman, has relatively little starting experience, although he rotated heavily even before his predecessors departed the team. He's a sure-handed center who can, in true Allamunnic tradition, calibrate blocking schemes on the fly for maximum effectiveness, complementing plenty of physical power and athleticism. Tyrrus Ungur has the smarts to learn to do the same things as Hael with training and practice, but his physical tools are even better.

Right Guard
RG#65 - Snaari Knutsunn - Age: 23; H: 6'4"; W: 307lbs - Corvik, BW
RG#52 - Rikard Kynyk - Age: 24; H: 6'3"; W: 317lbs - Broomfeld, NW
Snaari Knutsunn is surprisingly-athletic, without some of the mass often expected of interior linemen. Because of this, he makes an effective pulling guard, and his scrappy, vicious streak ensures that he pulls off his blocking duties with eagerness and delight. Rikard Kynyk is probably the most experienced back-up on the offensive line, and he pushes Knutsunn well, even if he lacks some of the starter's ferocity.

Right Tackle
RT#63 - Torren Rikardsunn - Age: 23; H: 6'5"; W: 320lbs - Dahlburg, PK
RT#59 - Derrik Maarks - Age: 24; H: 6'5"; W: 326lbs - Aldhuld, PK
Torren Rikardsunn is a capable right tackle, but so is Derrik Maarks, and there's not a whole lot distinguishing them, which means they tend to rotate as necessary to ensure that both of them stay fresh and rested. Both have the requisite size, aggressiveness, and technique when pass protecting and run-blocking to ensure that they're effective on the edge for the offensive line.

Strong Side End
DT#96 – Rikard Theodur – Age: 27; H: 6'4"; W: 315lbs – Roan, AL
DE#64 - Mikel Bronnsunn - Age: 25; H: 6'2"; W: 310lbs - Andersburg, BW
DE#93 - Harald Baaltrlunn - Age: 22; H: 6'4"; W: 305lbs - Wyndursburg, OW (OUT)
Rikard Theodur has been moved from defensive tackle to replace the departed Henrik Baaldr. He's a big, rangy tackle who can stuff the run and rush the passer effectively. Mikel Bronnsunn is a capable, technically-skilled defensive end who is at his best against the run. Bronnsunn is a rock-solid player, even if he lacks some of real flash. Harald Baaltrlunn is more explosive, and is a little better against the pass than the run, but should bloom into a solid all-around player once he has a chance to gain experience and become more polished.

Defensive Tackle
DT#91 – Waldr Baersvylk – Age: 27; H: 6'11"; W: 342lbs – Torrenhuld, UT
DT#95 - Piotr Farrangur - Age: 25; H: 6'6"; W: 322lbs - Dunnmaar, BW
DT#90 - Nyurd Svaartwynn - Age: 23; H: 6'5"; W: 319lbs - Murt, NY
DT#68 - Derrik Eldyn - Age: 34; H: 6'11"; W: 365lbs - Frostpurt, SP (OUT)
Waldr Baersvylk is a huge, space-eating defensive tackle, strictly-speaking a nose-tackle. Baersvylk pretty much does not come off the field, as he is talented enough all around to be an asset in the pass rush as well, although his primary duties are occupying double-and-triple teams to stifle the run. Piotr Farrangur is a solid, versatile defensive tackle who contributes well against the pass or the run, although he cannot eat space and command blocks quite the way Baersvylk can. Nyurd Svaartwynn has shown good abilities in limited action, but his main job remains to be a depth and rotational player behind Baersvylk and Farrangur. Derrik Eldyn is an aging AGL veteran brought in to add some veteran depth on the defensive line, now that the 4-3 will be the team's primary front once more.

Weak Side End
DE#77 - Alf Vaalhulmsunn - Age: 26; H: 6'5"; W: 300lbs - Grimmeburg, VY
DE#94 - Olaf Rynnur - Age: 22; H: 6'4"; W: 290lbs - Sorfurd, SM
DE#92 - Junn Izaaksunn - Age: 24; H: 6'2"; W: 304lbs - Onneria, ON
Alf Vaalhulmsunn is an effective defensive end against both the pass and the run, although the pass rush is where he truly shines. Olaf Rynnur has come on strong down the stretch as a major contributor to the pass rush, while showing enough competence against the run that he is rotating increasingly-freely with Vaalhulmsunn. Junn Izaaksunn is a solid defender who's about the same against the run as he is against the pass, and while he lacks Vaalhulmsunn's innate talent, he's a technician and carries enough skill to be an effective rotating player.

Strong Side Linebacker
LB#57 – Kyl Waalturs – Age: 28; H: 6'3"; W: 254lbs – Vylfhuld, BW
LB#98 - Fradrik Eriksunn - Age: 22; H: 6'4"; W: 260lbs - Haargyld, SM
LB#48 - Daanyl Harren - Age: 22; H: 6'3"; W: 257lbs - Wendeltunn, OW
Kyl Waalturs has been moved out from interior linebacker to help cover the departure of star linebacker Maarkus Staalhelm. Waalturs may not be as ferocious as Staalhelm, but he has the coverage and edge-setting abilities to at least make the loss relatively painless. Although technically listed as SAM linebacker, Waalturs and WILL linebacker Junn Haaldur are similar enough that they can effectively play either position depending on how the offense lines up. Fradrik Eriksunn has come on strong as a ferocious edge-setter, and his strength is promising (especially for anyone who remembers how Staalhelm first made his bread. Daan Harren has proven something of a disappointment, lacking the field awareness to be effective in coverage, and being competent, if unremarkable, against the run.

Middle Linebacker
LB#44 - Baeryk Skarrsunn - Age: 24; H: 6'3"; W: 245lbs - Skarrsboro, US (OUT)
LB#42 - Bryndyn Nyurdsunn - Age: 24; H: 6'2"; W: 250lbs - Vaddurhulm, OW
Baeryk Skarrsunn is a little on the light side for an Allamunnic linebacker, but possess elite speed, both lateral and forward, excellent field awareness, and the intelligence to be the defense's field general, all while being a hard hitter who plays bigger than he is (and he's still not exactly tiny). Bryndyn Nyurdsunn is a linebacker in similar mold to Skarrsunn, if not with quite the same fantastic speed, he is more than capable of stepping up in a pinch.

Weak Side Linebacker
LB#53 - Junn Haaldur - Age: 28; H: 6'2"; W: 258lbs - Roan, AL
LB#49 - Rikard Eriksunn - Age: 22; H: 6'4"; W: 252lbs - Arksfurd, OW
LB#43 - Ardryk Jaarlsunn - Age: 22; H: 6'6"; W: 250lbs - Kleinsburg, HL (OUT)
Junn Haaldur is usually an interior linebacker, although he has the size, athleticism, and instincts to be an effective linebacker no matter where he is plugged in in the middle of the defense. Ardryk Jaarlsunn is very talented, but very raw. His speed and size make him a natural pass-rushing specialist, and he should only improve with experience and practice. Rikard Eriksunn is another versatile linebacker who is on the raw side, but should develop nicely with training, able to be plugged in wherever needed.

Cornerback
CB#09 - Rikard Junnsunn - Age: 24; H: 6'1"; W: 210lbs - Leifspurt, HR
CB#14 - Kaarl Bronn - Age: 24; H: 6'0"; W: 206lbs - Vylfhuld, BW
CB#29 - Clay Baartunn - Age: 26; H: 6'0"; W: 207lbs - Northuld, NW (OUT)
CB#17 – Junn Tanner – Age: 33; H: 6'1"; W: 211lbs – Leifspurt, LT
CB#15 - Soryn Laands - Age: 23; H: 6'0"; W: 203lbs - Amburg, ON
Rikard Junnsunn, despite his youth, is the Regulars' most-experienced cornerback. He has the size and instincts to be an elite corner, in zone coverage, blitzing, or locked up on an individual receiver. Clay Baartunn has the requisite physical dimensions and abilities, but lacks the natural knack for the position that Junnsunn has. Still, he's an effective player, just not elite. Kaarl Bronn is a young corner who looks likely to bloom into an effective defender, as an already useful rotating cog in the secondary. Junn Tanner has been moved back to add depth at the position due to Laands being perceived as a liability and Baartunn not playing at 100% health. Soryn Laands is a converted wide receiver who seems to have a nose for interceptions, although he is a little more prone to giving up catches and big plays than anyone would like.

Free Safety
FS#08 - Lyna Donalsunn - Age: 23; H: 5'10"; W: 154lbs - Innusburg, SM
FS#06 - Raechl Kaarlsunn - Age: 25; H: 5'8"; W: 151lbs - Leifspurt, HR
Lyna Donalsunn has managed to acquit herself well enough that she is now being trusted as the starting free safety with Junn Tanner's move back to cornerback. Raechl Kaarlsunn, on the other hand, has a little more experience, but her skills as a safety are only middling; her main way onto the team is as a reserve kick returner, or as a utility athlete.

Strong Safety
SS#25 – Erik Dahlhorst – Age: 32; H: 6'1"; W: 210lbs – Kaepenhulm, UT
SS#18 – Mikel Ulrik – Age: 28; H: 6’0”; W: 215lbs – Kristinburg, ON
SS#28 - Loren Sult - Age: 26; H: 6'0"; W: 206lbs - Leifspurt, HR
Erik Dahlhorst has quietly become the most experienced defensive player on the roster, a hard-hitting backfield enforcer that the Regulars can use up in the box against the run, or further back putting fear of the gods in pass catchers. Although he doesn't tend to get too many interceptions, Dahlhorst is also still an asset in coverage. [b]Mikel Ulrik is a capable safety in his own right, and there was talk of moving him either to corner or free safety to make use of him, but his natural fit is as a strong safety, a backfield enforcer in the same mold as Dahlhorst. Loren Sult is a little smaller and a little more of a ballhawk than the other two strong safeties, but he's still a capable enforcer and tackler.

Place Kicker
K#07 - Justyn Kynyks - Age: 34; H: 6'0"; Weight: 212lbs - Onneria, ON
K#46 - Kaarl Hunt - Age: 23; H: 6'2"; W: 225lbs - Lyndur, AK
Justyn Kynyks is the Regulars' long-time place-kicker. He can reliably hit most field goals inside of 40 yards, and he's got a pretty good rate of success out to 55. Outside of that, he gets a bit dicey, although he has hit a 62-yarder before. Kaarl Hunt is not quite as strong-legged as Kynyks, but he can still make most of the same kicks. That said, he's more understudy than back-up; barring something going horribly wrong, Hunt should not expect to see the field until Kynyks moves on from the team, either in retirement or to play in the AGL.

Punter
P#04 – Wyatt Skode – Age: 32; H: 6'0"; W: 215lbs – Vymsburg, VY
Wyatt Skode is technically the team's only punter, and he is as valuable to the defense as any of the actual defenders, frequently pinning opponents deep with skillful punts, often putting the defense in position to cash in with safeties or timely turnovers. Strictly-speaking, Hunt is also Skode's back-up, should he go down with an injury.

Long Snapper
C/LS#71 - Vaargus Kynt - Age: 22; H: 6'2"; W: 275lbs - Trynt, OW
Vaargus Kynt is a little too small to play offensive line for the Regulars, and a bit too big for anything else. Thankfully, his longsnapping skills have ensured him a place on the team. The best thing that can be said about him is that he's good enough that the retirement of longterm longsnapper Grimm Long does not seem to have caused any hiccups for the team.

Returner
WR/R#11 - Jana Graelunn - Age: 25; H: 5'8"; W: 162lbs - Vaesthuld, VY
HB/R#21 - Anna Eriklunn - Age: 22; H: 5'7"; W: 158lbs - Dunnmaar, BW
Jana Graelunn and Anna Eriklunn are both smaller, quicker players who are adept at spotting holes and gaps in opposing kickoff or punt coverages and accelerating through them confidently. Both also have other roles, but they are returners first and foremost. In a pinch, free safety Raechl Kaarlsunn can be conscripted to serve as a returner, should one of them get injured. It is worth note that Graelunn might potentially see some work at wideout, while Eriklunn could end up working as a tailback as well.

Timbermunich Lumberkings
World Bowl XXVII
Roster - RP info

About
The Lumberjacks or Jacks (in most writings you will find the term Greats used), as they are often called, that make up the LumberKing’s roster are a brawny bunch plucked from the limbs of Great TimberOaks which stand deep within the Great Timbermunich Forest. These Great TimberOaks are massive trees that make up the central portion of the Great Timbermunich Forest, the trees stand at nearly 424 meters tall with trunks that can reach upwards of 32 meters in diameter. It is said that these Lumberjacks once selected spend their entire life within the Great Timbermunich Forest. To be a Jack in Timbermunich is a great honor and they are selected by The Great Battle Axe while still in utero. They are tasked with guarding the Great Timbermunich Forest from all harm (natural or otherwise) starting at their birth and continuing to their death, that is if they actually do die as no one has ever witnessed a Jacks death nor has a Jacks body ever been discovered void of life they seem to vanish from existence once they reach and estimated 250 years of forest protection. It is also said that each of the Great TimberOaks has a single Jack to watch along with the shared duty over the rest of the Great Timbermunich Forest. If true this would mean that there are approximately 450 thousand Jacks, there are also nearly 100000 trees (multiple genomes) per living Timbermunichers (everyday folks: 50 million) so there are a great number of trees to watch over.

You may be asking what this has to do with a football team, well you see the Jacks get a small senescence in which they are able to leave the Great Timbermunich Forest and they choose to play sports during this abscission time. Much of the lore around the Jacks seems to indicate this is their final farewell before vanishing from the forest. It is unknown if a Jack gets more than one senescence or not. It is also unknown how long the senescence lasts, but since the legends are not written down we may just have to wait and see. It is not uncommon, thus far in history, that they last for many years and since Jacks don't age (or rather at an extremely slow rate) it could be an extremely long senescence.

They do seem to stick with the more strength and power sporting events, which we attribute to their physical stature and strength. After all they spend their entire life wielding one or sometimes two Double Bit Great Felling Axe, an axe that no normal human can lift. This doesn’t mean we don’t see them in finesse sports; it’s just more common for them to choose physical sports more during their senescence.

Tournament Preview: Kaboomlandia

The Kings will go into the 27th World Bowl with a chip on their shoulder. They showed their character with a seven-game winning streak in the group stage of World Bowl XXVI, but a strong Timbermunich squad ended that run. They're young, hungry, and back for more.

Offence: The offence will be led by Tyler Martin and Travis Reuben, though a nagging ankle injury to Reuben brings his health into question. Manny Hayes leads a crack squad of wide receivers with speed and size, while Andrew "Tank" Michaels is a great power running back.

Defence: The entire defence, which let the Kings down in their 40-24 quarterfinal loss last year, is back this year. The linemen have trained, and they have the size to protect Martin and Reuben. The key here is the Kings' backfield: cornerbacks Richard Cody and Jeremy Rutherford and safeties Cameron Johnson and Scott Falk. These guys are extremely fast and adept at picking off passes.

Special Teams: The Kings have kicker Caleb McCallum, who caught fire and was one of the best kickers in the tournament last year, kicking over a dozen field goals in just three games. Scott Schmitt returns as punter.

X-Factor: The Kings got off to a poor start last time out and were only saved when Russell Jones led the Kings to a 48-0 demolition of Coreyo in the fourth game. Tyler Martin was a non-factor before being yanked in their opener last time in a 40-7 thrashing by Timbermunich. Also, Travis Reuben's uncertain health situation may be a factor.

Coaching: No changes here, as Gridiron Kaboomlandia judged that Frederic Allemande was good enough to stay in charge of the team.

What happened in World Bowl XXVI?
The Kings got off to a poor start in the first three games, losing 40-7 to Timbermunich and 30-20 to Vakolicci in a game they should have won. Against Coreyo in Game 4, the Kings handed their fate to Russell Jones and he delivered with a 48-0 win, sparking the Kings to a seven-game winning streak, including two wins over the host Electrumites. The Kings were originally slated to play defending champions Allamunnic States, but a computer error was corrected, instead slating them against Timbermunich. The Kings lost 40-24, but they had proven themselves as an unranked team.

Fressen Hundefutter Stadion: Capacity 78,000|Location: Wortwort, Hefebayern
Fressen Hundefutter is a new stadium with many great features. It is an open air stadium so both players and fans are subjected to what ever mother nature throws at it, to an extent. The field however is heated and typically stays at a nice 45 to 50 degrees right at grass level even when the outside temperature dips down into the single or below zero digits. It also has cooling fans with misters built just under the first row of seats so on those hot HopNation days players have a few spots to keep cool. Fan comforts are also something that was considered when this facility was erected. Throughout the concourses there are heaters as well as the same cooling fans that the players have, so depending on the outside temperature the fans will also be somewhat comfortable. The stadium seats themselves do not have cooling elements but they do have a self regulated heater that each fan can set to his/her comfort level, however the heater quality degrades as the ticket price decreases so fans in the cheapest sections have a far less reliable seat than those in the prime expensive sections. Viewer pleasure was also something that was considered during construction, so there are a number of video boards throughout and no seat has an obstructed view of the field. Each seat also has a headphone jack so they can listen to the games broadcast if desired (Ear Buds or Headphones not provided).
Home of the Große Hunde and is also the official home of the National Handball Team the Malts

The Fair Republic Toucans

Postby The Fair Republic » Tue Sep 08, 2015 1:32 pm

Head Coach: Buck Natters, 78

Strategy: On offence, Natters uses a 2 RB set and uses a smashmouth running attack to force the safeties to watch the RB and then airs it out deep to the wideouts and uses the TE either as a blocker or a receiver. On defense, Naters uses a complex zone blitz scheme that involves LB's and DE's dropping in and out of zone coverage changing blitzing schemes while the CB's play man on the outside helped out by the safeties to watch any deep pass

Roster:
Offense:
Quarterback: Buck Williams
Running-back: Adrian Crawford
Fullback: Darius T. Jermichael V.
Center: Nagi Ja
Right Tackle: Mike Enders
Left Tackle: Milos Cruz
Right Guard: Joe Valentine
Left Guard: Clay Clayson
Tight End: Brain Udderson

Allamunnic States Daily
Sports - World Bowl XXVII

Pre-World Bowl Round-Up
Group Draw, Outlook, Early Injuries

The training camps are over. The host has prepared for the onslaught of visitors. Starters have been named. And now, finally, the groups have been drawn and the schedules have been announced. The Allamunnic States have been drawn into Group A, which is as follows:

Group A
#3 Allamunnic States
#9 Timbermunich
#30 Patistan
#64 Bongo Johnson
UR Semarland
UR Halfblakistan

As Group A's Pot 1 team, the Regulars should be the early favorites to win their group. The Regulars drew a group that does not seem to be one of the more challenging gauntlets the program has run, but there are enough strong teams that the Allamunnae could find themselves in trouble if they are not careful, and escaping undefeated will still be a considerable challenge.

The toughest opponent, of course, should be Timbermunich. The Lumberkings have managed to somewhat quietly build their program to being within the world's Top 10, powered by an explosive offense. The 'Jacks that make up the team are a strong bunch, who should be able to give the Regulars a run for their money at their time-honored, battle-tested smashmouth philosophy on both sides of the ball. The Regulars should have the edge, but don't be surprised if they split the series with the hard-charging Lumberkings.

Behind Timbermunich, the group gets somewhat spare. Patistan (ranked at #30) is allegedly a challenge, but the Regulars have faced them before in the past and come away fairly unimpressed. Since they have yet to post a roster, it is uncertain what sort of strategy Patistan is likely to utilize, or the quality of the team it will field, but at present, nobody should see any reason to be concerned. A game or two may be close, but the Regulars should be able to take care of business both at home and on the road.

Bongo Johnson (#64) have played in a few World Bowls now, and have generally speaking not seen much success. Similar to Patistan in this regard, they are just good enough to be a potential trap game, but assuming the Regulars come to play, this should not prove to be a cause for concern. The games might even be close, but the Regulars should sweep them without too much drama.

Semarland and Halfblakistan are both newcomers to the World Bowl (we believe; Semarland sounds somewhat familiar, but some cursory research turned up no pertinent results) and, unless one of them pulls a New North Aqmuland and comes out of nowhere to make a deep playoff run, they should both a non-issue for the Regulars.

Elsewhere, Schottia's national team, the Leviathans (featuring two AGL players, now in Draakur's C Rupert Kenny and Ardryk's LB Nathan Johnson) were drawn into a very winnable Group F, the second-ranked team in their group Taeshan ahead of them. The Fitin' Falcons have typically done solidly in the group stage, but have recently shown a propensity for losing in the playoffs against teams they have no business losing to. Perhaps the scrappy Schottian side will be able to capitalize and win the group over a favored team that many see as overrated.

Other notes of interest include the return of WBVII Champions (and WBVIII Finalists) Fujisawan Territories after a long absence. Due to their long absence, they are now considered unranked, and have resultingly been drawn into a group with Equestrian States and Kaboomlandia.

Meanwhile, last year's champions from Ko-oren have drawn a tougher group than the Regulars, facing Free Republics, last year's hosts from Electrum, and Krytenia, along with two newcomers. The status of finalist Saintlands' roster remains up in the air following some significant domestic controversy during the last World Bowl, but the Sanctii might face a tough road against Vermark and the Royal Kingdom of Quebec.

Allamunnic Outlook

As mentioned above, barring catastrophic underperformance or some unforeseen disaster, there is really no reason the Regulars should not win their group by a comfortable margin. The Allamunnic team should be expected to finish no worse in the group stage than 8-2, and realistically, 10-0 might be a hard mark to reach, but is by no means out of the question this year.

Really, the only question is if the defense will be as dominant as last year. The unit is facing the loss of two of its genuine stars in LB Maarkus Staalhelm and DE Henrik Baaldr. That said, this loss does not exactly leave the defense strapped for talent; it has rock-steady difference makers, even excellent players at most, if not all positions. But none of them have Baaldr or Staalhelm's panache or name-recognition. Of course, that may well change as other contributors step up.

Offensively, the passing attack is likely to take even more of a back seat, considering the loss of the team's two top wideouts. With two relatively unproven pass-catchers now starting at wide receiver, expect Godwyn Braanur to get even more looks, and for the team to rely even more on the run. That said, they should still be able to count on their quarterbacks to find ways to move the chains without making too many mistakes.

We here at Allamunnic States Daily are predicting a championship run for the Regulars. Why is that? The prediction is, admittedly, based in part off of last year's result, summarized by head coach Baeryk Vaalburger after last year's third-place finish.

"There's no shame in a third-place finish, but this is not where we hoped or expected to finish," he told reporters. "At this point, a championship is our goal every year. No question of that. We fell short of that, and though we got to finish on a winning note, our young men and women now know the taste of elimination and defeat. We'll feed off that, and get better, and we'll come back stronger next year."

Vaalburger seems to have significant skill in motivating his players; the last time Vaalburger's squad missed the finals, they responded by winning World Bowl XXV. And while this team lost a few players from their previous campaign, the team is still loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and have that special attention to fundamentals and details that Vaalburger's rosters always seem to have.

We have an injury

Some may be wondering why we did not identify QB Izaak Kleiner by name in that last paragraph. The fact of the matter is that Kleiner will most likely miss the opener against Halfblakistan with an undisclosed shoulder injury. Luckily, the team invested in veteran backup Ryan Tanner before training camp, so a steady AGL journeyman will start for the Regulars for at least the first game. Depending on the severity and recovery time of Kleiner, that may turn into a longer period.

Thankfully, an aging signal-caller is the only significant injury concern the Regulars have, at present. While that will undoubtedly change as the campaign wears on, they have the satisfaction of going into the opener with fairly few worries.

PACIFICA SPORTS PRESENTS: THE SELECTION
Image
They might be rivals in the league and in college but it's time for players across Armeia and the Keystone Islands to come together as one to show the rest of the world what we can do on the international stage.
This is the team announcement, a joint effort by the Armeia and Keystone Islands federations.
Home Uniform: http://i.imgur.com/9c7AG5m.jpg
Away Uniform: TBA

STAFF:
HEAD COACH: Takumi Maki - The head coach of Armeian Gridiron League team Forge Thunderbolts, 43 year old Takumi Maki has been around the league since it started up, and this is his first season as an international coach. He previously coached Loftus College to a championship on the college level, and now he takes his knowledge of strategies and the up tempo offense to the national level. A former quarterback coach, he should be able to help the young QBs on this team perform well.

ASSISTANT COACH/OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Kyo Kobayashi - Kyo Kobayashi is the head coach of Jerawen State, and Maki's former protege. 28 years old, he was the offensive coordinator responsible for the gunslinging attack that Loftus College wielded during their championship season. He was originally a WRs coach and analysts say that one of the reasons he was selected is because of how he can help the wide receivers reach their potential. Also a good recruiter, as shown in the talent he has on his college squad.

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Haru Ito - The defensive coordinator of highly ranked college team Illara West. Known for aggressive defenses that leave corners on an island so to speak, it's a bit of a strange selection to see him here. But he does bring a style of defense that many teams can't learn to deal with, and only time will tell how he fares.

QUARTERBACKS COACH: Mia Perrera - One of the AGL's better female QBs. She's actually an active player but she's 39 and nearing retirement. Going to go straight into coaching after hanging up her cleats, probably with her AGL team, the Southeast Terrum Surge. She's mainly here to help the younger quarterbacks, as there are no QBs on the roster over 26 years of age.

STARTING ELEVEN: OFFENSE
Image

QUARTERBACK: #8 Cara Devlin or #15 Paulo Alecjo, nobody knows. Devlin is eighteen and a star freshman for Illara West, although she did play badly in their season opening loss. Both she and Alecjo are extremely quick runners who can evade defenders and escape the pocket, but Alecjo has a better deep arm than Devlin and at 26, he's the starting quarterback of the Forge Thunderbolts. Devlin is a huge personality and Alecjo stays out of the spotlight more, and they contrast even more when you consider that Devlin escaped the worst neighborhood in Western Armeia, West Cora City, and Alecjo comes from the posh suburb of Bastille. We can't say who will start but we're giving Devlin the edge here.

CENTER: Karl Akerman, Devlin's senior teammate from Illara West. Some say he's been called up to make Devlin comfortable if she plays. He is undersized for a center and has short arms, but he makes up for it by playing with heart and commanding the O-Line like an expert. He plans on entering the AGL draft after the season instead of waiting a year to be able to be signed directly to a team.

LEFT GUARD: Ted Randal, a far more physically imposing player than Akerman. Weighs 318 pounds and plays for the Scarborough Warriors, the team owned by RC Atlas.

RIGHT GUARD: Jayden Gibson, thought to be Alecjo's favorite lineman at Forge. 279 pounds, he's also pretty physically imposing and is a classic run blocking right guard. Went to college at the University of Forge and now plays for their AGL team, he's a fan favorite for fans from there.

LEFT TACKLE: Wessel Baasch, slightly undersized at 300 pounds, he's a speed over strength guy. Played for Jerawen State and is waiting a year to be eligible to sign for an AGL team after skipping the draft, would have went top three if he entered.

RIGHT TACKLE: Johan Baasch, the younger brother of Wessel Baasch. He plays for Illara West and is a sophomore, and he's larger than his brother at 310 pounds.
Image
RUNNING BACK: Storm Staford, a top running back in the league who plays for Scarborough. Physically imposing at 6'3 and 217, and still at the young age of 23, Staford is one of the AGL's fastest rising stars. A Loftus College alum, he plays a quick and skillful style that utilizes stiff arms, spins, and trucks to get out of tackles, and he's a good receiver out of the backfield.

X: Bojan Atlewood, a playmaker who can shake a corner with good off ball movements and then make a big catch. Has big play power but is inconsistent and can sometimes disappear for a whole game. He's the highest paid player in the AGL, and he plays for Barrier City GFC. Friends with Ito, one of the reasons he was selected as the 'X' receiver. However he's a pretty big personality that needs to be managed at all times.

Y: Tyree Lanesson, the shortest player at the team at 5'4. He runs with speed and uses his small size to avoid tackle and catch low to the ground balls.

TIGHT END: Ray Ishikawa, someone who focuses more on blocking than catching. 245 pounds, he assists the tackles with run blocking and sometimes catches balls in the flat on third and short.

Z: The Z receiver is Zero Davidovic, who also plays safety and occasionally cornerback. He's one of the hardest workers on the team, and his main strength is with long balls. Deadly if you let him run in the open field, he has real highlight potential. 26 years old, he plays for the Southeast Terrum Surge.

Note: Despite Z and Y being listed the way they are, any of the four DBs are able to play receiver and often times receive starts over the listed Z and Ys

STARTING ELEVEN: DEFENSE

CB #1: Trista Prust, who's occasionally a safety, occasionally a receiver, and one of the greatest players to play for Illara West. Super fast and a good leaper too, would be the most dangerous player on the defense if she had good hands. 22, she still hasn't reached her prime.

CB #2: Ty Leroux, yes you heard that right, Leroux. Grandson of the former Southern Armeia coach, Ty Leroux currently plays for Illara West and was the highest recruited player in the nation coming out of high school.

STRONG SAFETY: Taesha Kendrick, the star of the Forge secondary. Hardest hitter on the team and has better hands than Prust, always a threat to make an interception.

FREE SAFETY: The second in the female safety pairing is the youngest one on the team. Kris Berksson is only seventeen and hasn't even signed to a college yet but Maki took a risk calling her up after the first two choices were injured. Expected to maybe lose starts to her backup.

The rest is TBD soon

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes but try to avoid doing it too much
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Yes
Godmod Other Events: Yes

Style Modifier: 4+
Armeia: Nordic/Germanic/Japanese nation with a quite corrupt government and a militaristic society.
Sporting Achievements: Emperor's Cup I champions, Emperor's Cup II runner ups, U-18 World Cup I Third Place

THEREISNOGODISTAN COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
OFFICIAL TEAM SHEET

Thereisnogodistan County is a county in the Abanhfleft colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula. It was established on November 30, 2014 from the splitting of Haritzaga County, by Colonial Executive Order No. 190047. The southern part of the county retained the name and history of Haritzaga County, while the northern part was named Thereisnogodistan County. The county seat is Thereisnogodabad.

Thereisnogodistan County Community College is an American football team based in Thereisnogodabad, Fhulghamous Peninsula. Its home ground is Richard Dawkins Park, a 21,100-seater park named after the prominent atheist Richard Dawkins, which is also currently Thereisnogodistan FC's home ground. Even though it is a college team, Thereisnogodistan Community College has participated in the World Bowl twice and even came out runners-up in the last-ever edition of the Baptism of Iron. Following Abanhfleft's decision not to participate in the latest World Bowl due to the crash of Air Abanhfleft Flight 5116 in Somer, Electrum that killed 25 members of the team and staff of the Abanhfleft national American football team, Thereisnogodistan has decided to send its college team to play the current World Bowl.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of team:
Thereisnogodistan FC
Team colors: Yellow shirt, pants, socks, and helmet (home); white shirt, pants, socks, and helmet (away)
Style modifier: +3.5. Thereisnogodistan is inspired by Fleftic sporting philosophy in that the best defense is offense.
Manager: Francois-Michel Nkong'o (Abanhfleft, 41 years old)

HOME STADIUM
Image
Richard Dawkins Park will serve as Thereisnogodistan's home stadium for the group stages of World Bowl XXVI. It currently seats 21,100 people.

NOTE: Since Thereisnogodistan County Community College is a small college, the team will not have as many reserves as they would like, and therefore injuries are very much not good for the team. An injury might force a safety to become a temporary quarterback, and such cross-position training is not very popular within Abanhfleft's sporting systems.

THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF PRIDNESTROVIA
NATIONAL GRIDIRON FOOTBALL TEAM

Gridiron football, or as the morally corrupt Westerners call it, American football, has little to no interest at all in the United Socialist States. The properly European sports of association football (or in Pridnestrovia, real football) and rugby union are by far and large the most popular sports in the United Socialist States, but by no means does that mean that President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko is not going to take advantage of an opportunity to win an international trophy for Pridnestrovia when the President Field Marshal learned that there will be a new World Bowl about to occur in the feudalistic nation of the Fiefdom of Cosumar. President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko sent out his loyal "talent-seekers" in a search throughout the world for a group of Pridnestrovians that can play gridiron football like the decadent Westerners do. Finally, after an entire year of searching, President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko presents the Pridnestrovian national gridiron football team.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: The Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia
Demonym: Pridnestrovian
Team colors: Green and red
Style modifier: +5 (President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko wants the team to utilize the attack-hardest doctrine that he has developed in his spare time while ruling glorious Pridnestrovia)
Head coach: President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko (Age undisclosed, Pridnestrovia)
Assistant coach: Emil Matarescu-Blavatsky (55 y/o, Pridnestrovia)

NOTE: While President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanovich Stepanenko has named himself head coach of the Pridnestrovian national gridiron football team, he in his infinite wisdom has decided to delegate all coaching responsibilities to Emil Matarescu-Blavatsky, who has studied in the dark arts of Western-tainted gridiron football, and is currently under the suspicious eye of the Committee for State Security.

Leviathans on Tour

"Out with the old and in with the new, World Bowl XXVII."

By Lewis Patterson
9th Sept 2015

Another year has gone by, somehow a long time in sport, yet it is amazing how quickly events can take their course. Each World Bowl, since Schottia's first foray into international Gridiron three years ago, I have kept this online journal documenting our journey. This year will be a unique experience for me, as I have finally hung up my shoulder pads and helmet, bringing to a close what has been a long and rewarding career in the sport. Thankfully I have been handed a coaching role, meaning that I will be able to stay involved with this fine bunch of players. (In truth it's not as if they had a choice, this entire thing was originally my idea...)

After we all managed to calm down, and prised ourselves off the ceiling following our last sixteen finish in Electrum, it was time to take stock and assess where we were as a team. Obviously something we were doing was working, and an amateur team from a country with no tradition of the sport, doesn't finish their group ahead of the Fair Republics for no reason. In fairness, our goal difference left a lot to be desired, as we were duly pummelled by Saitland, that said we managed to grind out the results, especially against the other smaller sides.

Since then we have seen the maiden season of the Schottic Gridiron League, where our sixteen new professional teams have received council funding enabling them to start developing young players. This has meant that the pool of full time players we have available has increased dramatically. Combined with a relatively inexperienced national team, this has meant young players getting World Bowl experience. Handon Fire captained by Lucas Popescu topped the table, finishing two wins ahead of Port Patrick and Granton, who also had a strong first season. My own team Handon City unfortunately finished down in fourth, missing out on goal difference, just behind the North Coast Sirens in third

So who are these new players making the starting line-up this season? James McDermott and I have both retired from fist team duties, leaving slots open for a new quarterback and someone at tight end. In actual fact it was a conversation we both had, and looking at some of the players coming through, the time was right to step aside and let someone else pick up where we had left off. Gabriella Alessi is without doubt the best young quarter back playing in the SGL. Her pace and ability to run with the ball is far beyond anything we have seen in Schottia previously, and I have to concede, far better than my old legs can manage. Coming in at tight end is David Cowden who has had a great season so far at the Belker Celts. He is a great catcher, and at only twenty, he will only get better.

Massively important to the team is 19-year-old centre Rupert Kenny, who was one of the main reasons we got so far last time round. Now playing in the Allamunnic states, he has been training with Draakurr Mariners, benefiting from the experience of working with some of the world's best players. Although, he has had to take a step away from first team football, at nineteen he has time on his side. Also the level of coaching he receives there will be vital to his development (better than us lot, who don't really know what we're doing). Line backer Nathan Johnson also made the switch to the AGL, working under Jethro Myers at Ardryk Crimson Tide. The chance to play among some of the best linebackers in the modern game will be a fantastic challenge for this young player.

Having been drawn in a group alongside former champions Taeshan, we have our work cut out for us yet again. Grayson Ashley's side are number five in the world and should present another stiff test. Other than that 29th ranked side Devonta will be a very good much, as they will present the biggest challenge to our hopes of repeating last year's stunning achievement.

Big Talent Hunting/The Redemption of Ryan Laurenz

Illara City
Keystone Islands, Armeian autonomous territory

The girl looked out of place in the super posh, super expensive coffee shop. While everyone around her was dressed extravagantly, or at least nicely, she wore a simple black hoodie and a pair of warm up pants. The same attire she always wore after practice.

The man on the other side of the table was almost the same. He had on a shirt that said "THUNDERBOLTS FOOTBALL", and he hadn't bothered combing his messy hair or changing into shoes that weren't covered in mud. His name was Takumi Maki and he was the head coach of the World Bowl team that Armeia was entering. He had brought his assistant, Kyo Kobayashi along also, but Kyo was silent for now.

There was a lot of tension, the girl not trusting Maki and Maki not knowing what to say to make the girl want to listen. "What's there to talk about?" the girl, Cara, asked. "I'm not going to risk my career to play second to Alecjo in a meaningless international tournament."

As Maki took a sip of his coffee, he sighed and began to talk. "This will only help your career, not hurt it. I see potential in you, that's why I want to select you. Hear me out, alright? And if you still don't want to play, no hard feelings."

Cara nodded and stared at the plate of cookies in front of her, mentally arguing with herself over whether she should eat those or not. She was working on getting better physically for the rest of the college season, and she didn't know if it would be wise to eat a plate full of cookies. "Whatever," she muttered, sounding disinterested.

"Well, for a start, do you remember Fara Berksson? The former Cruz Blanca quarterback?"

Cara scratched her head, thinking. "She tore up her arm and got some really bad concussions, didn't she? Took her team to the final and then got her career ended by Taesha Kendrick, right?"

Takumi nodded. "Yes, but I mean before that. You remind me of her, you're both west coast quarterbacks who can run the ball like running backs-"

Now Cara was angry, and she cut off Takumi. "Are you saying I can't throw deep?" she asked, her voice sharp. Long ball throwing was somewhat of a sore spot for her. "Because if that's what you're saying, I'm definitely not playing for you."

Kyo finally came into the conversation. "It's not like that, Cara. We're just going by the numbers. Numerically, you complete more of your passes in short and medium range compared to other quarterbacks. I've watched your first game with Illara West and you have plenty of arm strength, you just need to work on accuracy."

"Yes, I didn't mean to upset you," replied Maki. "What I mean is that you and Fara are both exceptional runners, she set rushing records for a QB when she was in her prime, and I think if you join our team, we can help train you to be like her."

"You forgot one thing," smirked Cara. "She lost. Cruz Blanca got beat, what, 43-17 in their only title game? Why would I want to imitate the game of a loser?"

Kyo and Maki exchanged a look, not knowing what to say. "Who's your favorite player?" Kyo asked quickly, thinking of a recovery.

"Trista Prust," stated Cara, referring to the leader of the Armeian secondary that had three female players. "She went to the same school as me and even though we're on opposite ends of the ball, I don't think we're that different."

"We have her on our team, don't you want to play alongside her? We're thinking of giving her snaps at receiver, like her college coaches did."

Cara was silent for a minute, before cracking a grin. "I'll consider it," she said, and that was that.

______

West Park
Illara City

The hooded man and woman watched in amazement as Cara Devlin broke a tackle, cut back and reversed, and threw a pass for a first down on third and short using her weak hand. On the next play she dropped back and took three steps up before hurdling over a downed lineman and taking off into the open field.

A defender chased after her and so did the secondary, but she had the better angle and made it to the twenty yard line before being brought down. On the next play she took a five step drop and threw a bullet of a pass to the sideline, where her receiver caught it.

This was street football, a pro-am game of sorts, in the park, and right now it was clear who the best player was. On this play, Cara lined up at wingback, and she took a short pass and walked it into the end zone for a touchdown. The game had been to twenty one points, and that TD clinched the win.

Afterwards many of the players and spectators posed for pictures with Cara, who also signed some things before walking off the field and bumping into the hooded woman. That's when she looked up and realized it was Trista Prust, along with running back Bojan Atlewood. "What are you two doing here?" she asked in surprise.

"We just want to have a little talk about the national team... Come on, before everyone sees me and starts asking for autographs," explained Prust, chuckling.

______

For a kicker, Ryan Laurenz had had so much swag. He was a national champion from Loftus College and signed for pro team Scarborough Warriors, where he made a great amount of money and was living the bro life, having too many girlfriends to count.

That was before The Miss, when he had a forty yard field goal blocked that would have sent Scarborough to the championship game. Now he was arriving at the Windhorst 6 motel and unpacking. "What idiot made the lodging arrangements for this tournament?" Ryan sighed, turning to his girlfriend Venus. "This isn't half as nice as the away hotels in Armeia."

Venus nodded in agreement and Ryan threw his stuff on the bed, deciding to head out and work on training already. He had called Armeian MMA fighter Khalil Khalifa into town to help him with his training, and the two met outside. "You ready?" asked Ryan.

Khalil replied by kneeing Ryan in the gut and putting him in a head lock. "Lesson one, in MMA you have to always be ready, in and out of the octagon," he said, releasing Ryan.

"What's rule two?" asked Ryan, rubbing his sore stomach.

"Don't let your guard down," answered Khalil, putting him in a hold and taking him to the ground. "Basically rule one written differently."

"I'm going to hate to find out rule three," muttered Ryan, straining to escape the hold.

"Rule three is to not show weakness, and you're breaking it," replied Khalil, pulling Ryan's arm at an awkward angle and forcing him to tap out.

"What's the point of all this? I'm a kicker, not an MMA fighter," sighed Ryan. "I just wanted some help with training, not a full MMA workout."

Khalil grinned. "This is how you'll redeem yourself. You'll see. For now, just trust me, and keep your guard up, always."

Sports - World Bowl XXVII

Injuries Strike Running Backs
Regulars struck by bad luck in run-up to World Bowl opener.

The Regulars had, until now, managed to escape training camp and scrimmages with few, if any significant injuries. Now, their running backs room has been wiped out in a six hour span by simple bad luck.

Early Thursday morning, running back Brandt Hendriks slipped and fell down a flight of stairs. Although his injuries were non-life-threatening, Hendriks did break his left leg, and he is expected to miss most, if not all of the qualifying round, if not the entire World Bowl. The news arrived at the team facilities as they suited up for practices, and back-up Ole Brandt was slated to take up Hendriks' slack during his missed time.

Three plays into a scrimmage drill, without contact, Brandt planted and attempted to cut upfield. Instead, he crumpled to the ground with a shout of pain. Preliminary diagnosis suggests that Brandt has injured his MCL, which, if torn, is quite likely to wipe out his chances of playing during World Bowl XXVII. It is the second major injury for the tailback in as many years.

At least some of the lost carries will likely go to fullback Torren Tormundsunn, but in the interests of depth and lightening the load on Kaarbrynn, the team is expected to sign at least one more running back, although the addition of two additional tailbacks is not out of the question.

UPDATE: It has been announced that the National Team has signed HB Bryndyn Traewyk off of the Dunnmaar Bruins' practice squad. Traewyk went undrafted and was signed by the Bruins as a free agent prior to the 2014-2015 season.

UPDATE: The team announced that they have signed AGL HB Dexter Shraedur. The 29-year-old tailback was a free agent who found himself without a team after he wound up on the wrong end of the annual numbers game in roster-building.

Nassau Eagles National General Football Squad

Image

Foreword:

One of the lesser followed sports in Nassau, the national stadium barely holds over a thousand spectators. It is because of this that the skill of the national squad is so befuddling. Quality players with unconventional numbers such as the sturdy Trevor Lampman or the ever dynamic WR duo of Swanson and McGrane are gems found in a largely untended mine of Nassauite skill and talent. the collegiate program itself is fairly sparse, scantly holding enough to field two divisions. The professional assembly is slightly better off, and can manage to turn a profit most years, yet the shining all-stars of this league (ranked top-10 multiversally) still don't get a good rep. One would imagine that this would change with success at the upcoming tournament. Perhaps so...perhaps so.

In the 26th World Bowl outing, the Hessen landed a spot in the diverse Group F. Despite a 16-point loss to the superpower Allamunnic roster, the Hessen immediately rebounded with four straight victories of varying intensity as they built themselves up at Centralis and Prescott venues. After losing to the Allamunnic States in a very similar rematch, the ease and élan of their later victories only rose in dominance and decisiveness. This dominance would land them primacy above all runners-up, a feat that would advance them three in rank. Unfortunately, their tournament would be cut short thereafter with a swift loss at the hand of the Equestrian States. The Eagles were shut out at Agri 19-0, an ending that still leaves many veterans bitter (especially accounting that in the 25th they reached the quarterfinals), thirsting for a replenishing victory.

Group H
Nassau (8)
Osarius (16)
Estenia (36)
Coconutistan (43)
Firebolt (UR)
Marion Oaks (UR)

Favorite. This placement has eluded the Hessen in many sports for much time. Now, it is the time for the Hessen to rise at Gridiron Football. Being one of the few teams to maintain, let alone improve, their rank over the blip of isolation, Nassau looks as a serious contender to win the Bowl this time around. Due to the recent Nassauite potency, minimal substitutions have been made, as many of the starters remained over the past three times around. Should this be it, the first World Bowl win for Nassau, it'd be the first time the Hessen would win a major tournament in all of the nation's history. Alas, the road that must be tread to reach it won't be smooth (although the draw was perhaps favorable, the Eagles will have a target on their backs for the first time). The inherited Group appears to be fine, but it is with highly predictable roles. The nations of Firebolt and Marion Oaks look for first blood as they test the waters of international gridiron football. Meanwhile, the two medians between underdog and favorite would be Estenia and Coconutstan, as the heavy favorites of Nassau and Osarius will look to lead the pack. Other than that it's pretty simple. The Eagles must win to retain what is theirs and affirm their place.
