World Hit Festival 20 - Senmerí, Chámelíyá | OOC

Postby Kalosia » Sun Aug 02, 2015 12:49 pm

For the 3rd consecutive time, Chámelíyá has won the World Hit Festival. Despite being unable to host the 19th World Hit Festival, the broadcaster CháReTe accepted hosting rights for the 20th contest.

About + How It Works
The World Hit Festival (WHF) is a song competition. Each participating nation may enter 1 song and artist into the contest, and it will be performed. Lyrics must be written by the user, thus no instrumental songs are allowed. Users may enter up to 2 more puppet nations, adding to a total of 3 overall.
Later, each nation must vote for their favourites by giving 5 points to their favourite song, 4 points to their 2nd favourite, and so on. Nations are only allowed to get a maximum of 8 points from the user's puppets (meaning that, Nation 1 can receive 4 points from Nation 2 and Nation 3 each, if all 3 nations belong to the same user. Nations 2 and 3 can still receive points from each other.)
Votes are to be submitted by telegram to the host country, who will publish them. Afterwards, a winner will be announced and the current edition of the WHF will end, and signups for the next WHF will be opened.

Here is a statistical database of participants in WHF history, and here is a list of every World Hit Festival ever, along with links to the IC and OOC threads.

For the contest, 3 threads will be opened. The first is the Signups/OOC thread, this one. The second is known as a Draft Thread. You will post your performances here. The final one is the IC thread. The host will copy your performances from the Draft Thread. You will be able to post commentary here.

Also, the 2nd Junior World Hit Festival will run in parallel to this edition of the WHF. You can sign up here.

You can use the most recent World Hit Festival (WHF19) as a reference. Still, feel free to ask questions!

Schedule
Signups close: 9 August
Draft thread (entry posting): 9-17 August
Voting: 17-23 August
Voting announcement (results): 24 August-31 August (latest)

Signing up
To sign up, fill the form below. You do not have to have a complete initial sign-up. A post saying that you'll participate is okay, but you'll have to complete the rest eventually. If you want to have a national final, feel free to post it in this thread.
Code: Select all
[box]Nation:
Broadcaster:

Song Title:
Artist:
Language(s):
Title Transcription (if required):
Title Translation (if required):
Tune:

The slogan "Under One Sky" in your language (preferrably not English):
Your nation's name in your language: [/box]

The form will look like the contents of the spoiler below. In the spoiler, there is also an explanation of each part.
Nation: Self-explanatory
Broadcaster: Each nation has a broadcaster, usually the national broadcaster, who will transmit the show in your nation. For example, the BBC is the UK broadcaster for Eurovision and broadcasts the event to the UK.

Song Title: Self-explanatory
Artist: The artist who will perform the song. You are expected to RP the performance in the draft thread later on.
Language(s): The languages of the song's lyrics.
Title Transcription (if required): If your song's title is in another alphabet, then this is where you fill the romanized title (for example, a song whose original title is "Мамо" would be romanized as "Mamo". Otherwise, you can omit this part completely.
Title Translation (if required): If your song's title is in another language, fill in the English translation here. Otherwise, you can omit this part completely.
Tune: Most songs in the World Hit Festival use the melody of an already existing tune, and the user only rewrites the lyrics. Self-written tunes are rare, but welcomed and appreciated. Some users choose to not use a tune for their song, but if you do, write here the tune which you are using.

If you want to see an example, scroll down, since experienced nations are more likely to sign up earlier.

Um Kalosia, I don't need picture of participants' scenery in their signup but I will need their nation's name and this edition's slogan, 'Under one sky', in their nation's language (preferably not English).

I have no idea what I'm going to do now.

It is indeed, and I thought pretty much every performance that I watched from Turkvizyon was so cheap looking. Imagine if someone brought plug in fans on the stage in Eurovision.

Okay guys, I'm a little stuck on the venue. Nepal doesn't have a lot of facilities for these kind of occasions so we're going to need to be a little creative for Chameliya. I have a number of options - some indoor, some outdoor - and I would like some feedback.

Image

SENMERÍ FESTIVAL ARENA
Hangar 2b

Venue for the 18th World Hit Festival. Located at Senmerí International Airport, a mere 15 minutes by trolleybus from central Senmerí. With a capacity of 15,000, this flexible event space already has the experience of hosting the festival.

Image

OLD PALACE GARDENS
Puráno Darbar Bagaiñcháharú

Located in central Senmerí in the grounds of the Adhyaksh's (Prime Minister) neoclassical palace, the Old Palace Gardens (also known as the Garden of Six Seasons) were opened to the public in 2002. Stage design will incorporate the garden's landscaping. This more intimate setting has a capacity of 8,500.

Image

DARBAR SQUARE
Darbar Kshetra

Nestled between the royal palace and ancient temples, Darbar Square provides an atmospheric setting for Senmerí's biggest festivals and celebrations. The venue for many pop-up concerts and performances, the medieval square has an incredible capacity of 12,000.

Image

CHAMELIYA NATIONAL STADIUM
Chámelíyá Ráshtriya Rañgashálá

Opened in 1958, the Chameliya National Stadium located south of central Senmerí is the home to Chameliya's athletics, and national football (soccer) team, and the host of many competition finals - international and domestic. The stadium was last renovated in 2014 and has a capacity of 17,000.

OP updated. I haven't figured out the entry yet (I'll complete the signup info along w/ everything else), but I can tell you it's to the tune of A Thousand Miles - Vanessa Carlton.

RTVK has announced that the 14th Festival di Melodi Kalosiana will take place this Saturday (8 August). The format will be a bit different than usual, due to the 2nd Junior World Hit Festival. The broadcaster received submissions for both festivals, and paired up each FMK entry with a song submitted for the JWHF, which will not be performed in the national final. FMK entrants were allowed to choose which JWHF submission they're paired with. While JWHF probably won't be mentioned during the national final, the song that will be selected will be the one that is paired with the FMK winner.

Depends on what kind of show you want to host. Personally I would prefer an indoor setting. The Old Palace Gardens seems interesting and I wonder what the show would look like if it was held there.

By the way, when will the JWHF sign-ups thread be up?

Also, like Kalosia I'd prefer an indoor venue like the hangar, but to make things more interesting and to have a change from tradition, the Old Palace Gardens would probably be really interesting to see.

Um, well my attempt is appalling but this is an approximation of what the stage could look like. All the scaling is probably wrong but it's just to give you the idea . I'll do some better and more detailed hand drawings if people are interested in going for the Old Palace Gardens. Or we could just go for a traditional indoor arena.

Chameliya, perhaps you could compromise and create an outdoor-looking stage design in an indoor arena? Your initial design is interesting though, my own stage wasn't designed in a day. You don't necessarily have to use it if you don't want to.
