"The 19th Century brought forth the first global conflict in human history, the Great War. From 1810 to 1817, the great empires of Europe fought across the globe in a massive conflict that claimed more than five million souls. At the end of the war, empires were dethroned, new nations were born, and some nations disappeared forever, such as Austria which was absorbed into Germany and the new Kingdom of Hungary. Italy was divided once more with the creation of the Papal State in the southern regions of the peninsula, and France made attempts to reestablish a global empire once more. The Russian Empire collapsed to become the new Confederation of Socialist States as the Socialist movement also spread to the United States. In the meantime the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the Netherlands dissolved along with the Anglo-Dutch-German Alliance as Germany and Britain nabbed up the Netherlands colonies. Yet with the new world shaped in such a manner, who knows what shall happen in the 20th Century. One only knows it shall come through the forces of Iron and Steel.

In regards to the year 1900, we open with the Großen Weltausstellung (Grand World Exposition) in Berlin. This being the first World's Fair of the 20th Century, rulers from around the world have been invited with numerous countries displaying expositions. However one can practically see the tension bubbling below the surface....."

Wilhelm II, Emperor of Germany since 1886 and King of Prussia since the same, looked out the same windows that Friedrich Wilhelm III looked out at the dawn of a new century. Just as Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III had lead Germany to greatness in the first half of the 19th Century, now Kaiser Wilhelm II would lead Germany to an even greater era, to a Golden era.

He looked out upon Berlin, bedecked for the Großen Weltausstellung. The laughter of so many children could be heard all throughout the city and many people had taken to the streets to see the expositions. Hence a huge propaganda campaign was launched; German banners everywhere, loudspeakers with Deutschlandlied playing, and military bands roaming the streets striking up march songs at random intervals.

The German contribution to the exposition was the Brandenburg Gate, the Victory Column, the Tiergarten Zoo, the Reichstag building, and the newly built German Museum on Museum Island. And though the major world leaders gala and conference to be held at the Stadtschlosse was not until the evening, Kaiser Wilhelm II had personally invited his friends and allies to an early meeting to take place in an hour or so. Those being the leaders of Hungary, Poland, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark-Norway.

The First Republic of Persia

Tehran, Persia
January 6th, 1900

Tehran. Persia. This is what President Abu Saruuk Muhammad seen as he walked the grounds of the Tehran Presidential Palace. Despite the decent skyline, President Muhammad was disappointed in this version of Persia. This so-called 'better version' of Persia disgusted him. Weak government, not enough territory to become a power in any way, a mediocre economy to accompany a sickly military. Not to mention the horrendous case of income inequality plaguing the country. This wasn't the Persia Muhammad grew up in, no, the Persia he grew up in was a vast empire with the military might to match almost any opposition. An economy that went hand in hand with other great powers.

Then, the Russians happened. The Russian Incursion crippled the Persian Empire, leaving it in turmoil and unrest by the time the Russians had humiliated Persia and left. Muhammad grew to hate the damned Russians for what they did to his country. Not even interested in establishing diplomatic relations with the Confederacy of Socialist States, he had become determined to improve relations with other anti-CSS states to help combat their influence. States like Ukraine and Hungary in Europe would become a major factor for Persian supremacy over the Russians. Muhammad knew that Persia couldn't clash head-on with the Socialist Confederacy, but with the assistance of economic sanctions toward them, maybe they could destabilize them.

The fact that Persia couldn't step toe to toe in an armed conflict with Russia dealt Muhammad a great emotional pain, especially after the Persians had vanquished and repelled the Russians time and time again in the Russo-Persian Wars. It was this single driving factor that made Muhammad act upon building the military up into an efficient fight force. This is where Hungary would provide it's role to Persia, President Muhammad himself would make a state visit to the European nation to market a military deal in which Hungary would train Persian troops and provide armaments for the Persian Republican Forces.

Before any of this could happen, Muhammad had to focus on internal affairs and domestic issues. The serious issue in Persia was income inequality, luckily, Muhammad would have to use a page out of the socialist playbook and spread out wealth among the lower classes. The Social Income Redistribution Act would hike up taxes for the rich, then using 50% of the tax profit, the government would equally distribute the wealth among those who meet the requirements to receive assistance for a maximum of two years, this phase would be known as the trial phase. After the trial phase, the government would have to renew the SIRA for 5 years until the next renewing was scheduled.

Along with the SIRA, the President would put forward the Persian Welfare Act. The PWA would offer a variety of programs that people could enroll in the event that government assistance is necessary for the well being of the citizen. He didn't expect either bill to pass due to their socialist ties, but the Persian people couldn't say he didn't try to fix the issue. After those two bills were dealt with, he would put forward the Persian Republican Forces Reformation Act (PRFRA), a bill that suggested the continuous buildup of ground forces, build up and improvement of naval forces, and the creation of an air force. This was the only legislation he actually expected to pass, as many Persians had been calling for a military buildup for a long time.

This was a new day, a new century, a new beginning. This was the beginning of a new era for Persia. It had been two long decades since it's descent from greatness, now it was time for it's ascension back to it, and Abu Saruuk Muhammad was determined to get it there. No matter what the price was, he would take every necessary process to bring Persia back to the center stage of the world.

27th Session of the Persian National Congress
January 12th, 1900

"...And this is why these bills need to be passed! For the integrity of our people, and our great Republic!" President Muhammad finished his speech as he introduced the new pieces of legislature to the Persian National Congress. He spoke with passion and such ferocity that he almost seemed sincere in his speech, but the reality was that he could care less if the SIRA or the PWA got passed, as long as the PRFRA was passed, then he could pave the way for Persia to reenter world politics with respect.

After a short period of congressmen murmuring among themselves, the voting opened for the Social Income Redistribution Act. Slight bickering took place during the process in hopes of deterring votes or lobbying for them. The voting for the SIRA ended just past 45 minutes, the final vote tallied was Aye - 9, Nay - 22, the bill failed. Muhammad felt relieved, he was praying for the SIRA to fail, merely using it as a figurehead for the who've been affected by income inequality. After a short break period, the PWA was ready to be voted on. This bill's voting process went on longer than the SIRA's, as the bill had high support, but just as high opposition. After an hour and thirty-two minutes of debating as to why you should and shouldn't vote for the bill, the results were in. Aye - 13, Nay - 18[/i], the bill failed as well.

Now was the moment of truth for President Muhammad, the Persian Republican Forces Reformation Act was on deck. A short break like before, and voting opened. With little to say from opposition, the results were in after a mere 20 minutes. Aye - 29, Nay - 2[/i], the bill passed just as Muhammad had hoped. He stood and applauded the PNC's passage of the bill. As he did so, he already could see the military factories in development play out in his mind. Planes being built, naval ships being built, troops being trained and arms being bought as Muhammad marketed deal after deal with various nations.

Thus, a new era for Persia had been sealed. Muhammad was set to prove that the First Republic was no pushover to be taken lightly. He was determined to prove to the entire world that the Persian nation was independent, tough, and strong. As tough and strong as Iron and Steel.

President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy was in his office, planning or thinking to eliminate domestic and foreign problems such as poverty in the Russophone Ukraine, ethnic division, and influences from the other nations such as the Confederacy of Socialist States, the Polish Commonwealth and the Ottoman Empire, that's what the President's goal for his country for the unity for his people.

The messenger knock the door of the President's office. "Khto tam?" the President asked. "Tse poslannyk, pan prezydent." the messenger replied. "Vy mozhete pryyty v." the President replied. The messenger opened the door slowly and entered the office of President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy. "Dobroho ranku, pane prezydent." the messenger greeted the President. "Dobroho ranku tobi tezh z doshchovyy denʹ parad u Kyyevi." the President greeted the messenger with a humor. Both of them laugh. "Z yakoyu metoyu vy tut ?" the President asked. "Pane prezydent, osʹ lyst vid Velykoho Nimetsʹkoyi imperiyi." the messenger replied. "Velykyy Nimetsʹkoyi imperiyi?" President replied with a nervous tone. "Tak, pan prezydent." the messenger replied. "Dozvolʹte meni bachyty papir." the President replied. The messenger gives the letter to the President and reads the letter, the letter was the invitation of the leaders of the world to come to the first World's Fair which was held in Berlin. President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy loves to come to the first World's Fair but the problem is that he faces problems in his country, he chooses to stay and will not go to the first World's Fair that was held in Germany. President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy wrotes a letter to the Kaiser of the Greater German Empire, fifteen minutes later, the President finish his writing, he give the letter to the messenger and the President said, "Vy mozhete yty." the messenger left the President's office.

An hours later, President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy was planning to improve infrastructures and change Ukraine into a develop country, he was an architect, economist, and a wisest man. He was drawing this kind of infrastructure, the President dreams Ukraine to become an utopia. Later, the President arranges a meeting with the other ministers of Ukraine, the President says that we will focus on economy, infrastructure, military, education, and the people. The President has an idea for this a long time, he called this the Operation: Suchasnyy which it's about modernization of the nation and now he launch this operation and became trending in Ukraine nationwide. President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy also imposed some policies which is kinda a bit strict.

9. Ukraine has imposed freedom of speech, freedom of religion, but other freedom "tips" wasn't imposed. Ukraine is a democracy.

Papal Republic of South Italy, January 1st, 1900:

While everyone in South Italy was celebrating the turn of the century, President Mendazi was planning a coup. The Pope held too much power, in his opinion. In order for South Italy to continue to survive, it needed support. In order to get support, it needed allies. And to get allies, South Italy needed to secularize. Which was exactly what President Mendazi planned to do. For weeks now, he had planned to depose the Pope of his limited power. Sheathing his ceremonial sword, he and his troops set out.

Palermo, January 1st, 8:00 AM:
The troops stayed outside, with the exception of 5, who went in to help guard the President. As he approached the Pope, the Pope smiled at him grimly. "Mendazi. I should have known you would try this". Mendazi sighed. "My Pope, you know this isn't personal. In order for us to survive, we must gain allies. But no one will help us unless we secularize". The Pope sighed, getting up. " I suppose that's true. Very well, then. But you will allow me to stay and keep residence in the Papal Palace, correct?". Mendazi bowed to the Pope. "I would not be so cruel as to kick you from your home, my Pope". The Pope knelt before the President, who unsheathed his ceremonial sword. The Pope chuckled. "Still using that old thing, are you?". The President laughed, as he tapped the Pope on both shoulders with the sword. "Yes, I do. You, the Pope Leo XIII, are hearby and hear forth banned from the government of the new Republic of South Italy, so decrees President Franchesco Mendazi of the Republic, with the submission of his majesty, the Pope". And with those words, the Pope went back to his throne, and Mendazi went to announce the new Republic of South Italy.

To all nations of Europe and the world:
By order of President Mendazi, with the authorization of the Pope, the REPUBLIC of South Italy is hearby secularized fully. The Pope will have no more power in the government, however he will be allowed to stay at the newly constructed Papal Palace, in Palermo. A Eeveelution without bloodshed has taken place, and it has resulted in this most glorious occasion. President Mendazi will be attending the World Fair in Berlin, where he will formally announce the secularization to the Kaiser and his attending Allies.

It is the Year of Our Lord 1900, and with the dawn of yet another year, comes an uncertain future. The nation of Hungary itself arose from the ashes of the Habsburgs, a nation that once held great prestige and respect, and was considered as one of the world's Great Powers. However, with the onset of the Great War, Austria would soon find itself into a war with the German Empire, and in a steep decline as it found its minorities beginning to grow restless. This would ultimately result in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and the dissolution of the Habsburg Empire - as a result of the Austrian collapse, the delicate balance of Europe would be shifted in favor of Germany, and a new state would come to existence in Central Europe. The fledging Republic would soon attempt to stabilize itself and organize an actual military, as well as aligning themselves with Germany, a nation which had helped ensure Hungarian independence against their former overlords in Vienna. Over the years, Hungary would become an industrialized nation and respected military and even colonial power in Europe; in the late 1800s, it would join the Europa Coalition, a defensive alliance between Denmark-Norway, Germany, Hungary, and the Polish Commonwealth.

In addition, Persia of all nations had approached Hungary on opening diplomatic relations, as well as requesting a visit to Hungary from the Persian leader. Baráth was also well-aware that he would soon be arriving early to the German capital of Berlin for an early meeting with Wilhelm II, monarch of the Greater German Empire, Hungary's most important ally, and Baráth hoped he would be able to finish sending a response to both Persia and the Papal States before he left. "I see your points, and after some thinking, I've decided. We will be opening relations with Persia and improving diplomatic and economic ties with the South Italian Republic. You are dismissed." The President said, as Köver nodded before leaving the room. Sitting down, he began to write the messages to send to both Persia and South Italy, as well as another one to send to Ukraine pertaining to their new Hirushevskiy Policy, which, while Baráth realized it was intended for the greater good of the Ukraine, it could lead to some problems between Hungary and Ukraine, due to the fact that their country possessed a large Hungarian minority. The President felt that if the problems weren't clarified, it could lead to future tensions with the Ukraine, which he did not want, given that the Hungarians had sympathized with the Ukrainian War of Independence against their Russian tyrants and the Ukraine served as a blocker to further Russian expansion in Eastern Europe along with Poland.

While I am grateful for those news, I'm afraid I must respectfully decline the offer of an alliance, at least for now, although an alliance between us may certainly be possible in the near future. My reasoning for this is that I am still unsure of how my allies will react to such an alliance, and their stance towards the secularization of the former Papal Republic. However, I will accept a trade pact between the two of our nations, as well as not interfere in your later colonization of Northwest Somaliland - however, we will not be held responsible if another colonial power or empire chooses o colonize it before your Republic does.

After hearing the news of the recent policy that has been instated in your country, I have sent you this message in hopes of clarifying a few problems I have with your policy; I feel that, as President of Hungary, that I must work towards protecting Hungarian minorities in other countries, and preventing violence against them. The fact that Hungarians in your nation can be tortured and executed and forced to learn Ukrainian deeply disturbs me. While I realize you have instated this policy with the purpose of bettering your country, I request that you make changes to your policy, specifically to 3, 4 and 8. My reasoning is that the fact that all criminals and "hypernationalists" can be tortured and executed regardless of their crime is undemocratic, resembling that of policies typically used in a oppressive and tyrannical dictatorship. In addition, the fact that non-Ukrainians must be forced to learn your language is also outrageous; we do not force non-Magyars to learn Hungarian, although the vast majority are heavily obliged to do so. While I understand your concerns in regards to foreign influences in the Ukraine, suppressing them is not the way to go, and usually, foreign cultures only help shape and determine what your own culture will be like. I hope you, at the very least, consider my request instead of ignoring it to change your policy, and understand the reasons for my concern regarding your recent policy.

Muhammad was reading about the news of the pope losing all his power in south Italy and sighed. One by one, all the empires and nations around the Ottoman Empire were getting rid of the connection between state and religion and thus putting the Ottomans in a religious noose. He, as Sultan, would never give up his religious power as well as of his political powers, and would most likely make the Ottoman Empire the last or one of the last remaining non secularized. But no matter, that shouldnt prove a big problem in gaining allies, and with very few calls inside the empire to actually be secularized, he doubted the need for himself to actually address this. But what he had to address was the French, Persians, the so called Balkan Union, and Arabia. Every one of these things had something he wanted or he had what they wanted. The French owned Cairo, Alexandria, and Mecca, the Balkans owned the European part of Constantinople, the Persians wanted west Persia, Baku, and East Iraq, while Arabia most likely wanted north Arabia back while the Ottomans want more control over the Arabian Peninsula. Sighing, he thought about all these problems the Ottomans faced and knew he needed allies in order to do anything, mostly with France since they have powerful allies in Europe. To put this in effect, he wrote to the Persians and Arabians and asked them both to attend a meeting either in Damascus, Persia, or Arabia.

This being done, he have his aid the letters and told him to mail them as soon as possible. Waiting until the aid left, Muhammad called in his military adviser and his top general who just came back from touring Ottoman troops in Turkey and Iraq. His military adviser, Ahmad, walked in and bowed deeply, showing his respect to his sultan. Meanwhile, general Elmas (who was from Persian descent), walked in and only gave him a little bow, showing very little respect. No doubt this was partly because Elmas was a known backer of the old Sultan and only changed sides near the end to save himself. Muhammad only spared him because of 2 reasons, one was that he was a very smart general and was needed, and 2; the old Sultan and his advisers were all killed so there was no chance of the former sultan doing his own coup. General Elmas started speaking about the idea of waring the Balkan Union as soon as possible and Muhammad found himself for once agreeing with Elmas. "Sir, i have to agree with Elmas on this one because i agree with the fact we must strike against the Balkans before they find serious allies in the region." That was very suprising, for those 2 never agreed so Muhammad knew this had to be a great idea. So he ordered them to draft a declartion of war while also ordering the trained reverses to be mobilized in Turkey and North Syria, and ordered them to move to Central and West Turkey. Once all this was done, he called it a day and went to bed, thinking about how complex the world was compared to what he thought when he was just a general.

The day was cold, and fresh snow filled the streets. It was the average day in Sweden. The world at the time, was filled with change. Oscar II, was sitting in the grand Palace of Stockholm, ready to let Sweden's position on everything be known. The first matter of importance, was the secularization of the Papal States. Sweden has long ago secularized, and there was happiness all around to here of it spreading.

A different matter altogether, was security. Denmark-Norway, a nation with a very long border with Sweden, had been militarizing excessively recently. While it's nice to think the best of your neighbours, you can't take any risks. This was why an application for the Europa Coalition was being written. So as not to give off the idea that Sweden doesn't trust her neighbours, Russia was going to be the given reason. Sweden prided itself on neutrality, but neutrality was worth nothing if a country couldn't defend themselves.

I ask your attention today, for a matter of defence. I wouldn't try to hide the truth, Swedens military is very small. We prefer diplomacy and peace over war. Not all nations share our view unfortunately. To the east, lies the terror of the Rus people, The Confederation of Socialist States. If they ever chose to strike, we couldn't do much to stop them, but you could. The might of Prussia is matched by no other. It is based on this, that I humbly submit Sweden to join the Europa Coalition. We can supply small troop numbers to any military matters, but we can assist greatly in economic means. As you may know, we have vast supplies of iron and timber. I pray that you consider this.

Both those letters were stamped, and sent off to who they addressed. Not a minute after seeing them off, Oscar boarded a small steam boat, docked in the bay of Stockholm. They set out for Germany, as the Kaiser himself had invited Sweden to an early meeting before the rest of the world leaders arrived. He couldn't risk not showing up. After all, if the Kaiser was to accept Sweden to the Coalition, then he had to make a good impression!

The day was bright and the sun bore down both on my physical body as well as my spiritual body. My soul was in conflict as I played my nations future. But my nations destiny still resided in the west where the Europeans occupied some of the holiest cities in Islam the one of most importance being Mecca.

My predecessors had grand schemes to retake the city in a great battle to expel the christian imperialist in a moment that would be the pinical of Islam in its liberation from European aggression in the style of Saladins recapturing Jerusalem from the Crusaders. Upon my ascension to the throne however the military was streached to thinly and worked like mules. What started as a break for the soldiers has turned into fourty years of peace and construction. Now however it was time to take other means and to take my place among my ancestors as great conquerors and as liberators of the Islamic faith.

Walked up the pressed clay brick stair spire tower of the palace to look over the skyline of the city sprawling with thousands of people wandering about their day going to market to find goods and what not. The courtyard of the palace was filled with a hundred members of the elite Royal Guard marching in formation. I then looked out over the sands of the desert and looked to the west to the direction of the French Colonies, south to the British Colonies, easy to the Persians across the gulf, and north to the Ottomans. I needed to find my allies and make political and diplomatic moves for the future of a self-sustaining Middle East one allied with Europe but not dominated by the European powers. The Ottomans and Persians were the most likely allies in this vision of my Middle East, a Middle East for all peoples whom call this place home free of Imperialist rule.

I looked out to the northwest in the direction of Europe, while my goals we're to rid my native lands of colonialist in perversions I knew I could not have a vibrant future without the European states. It was a strange dichotomy I know but the region needed both the European stayes for trade and militaristic protection but we could not grow culturally and spiritually so long as they occupied historically muslin lands and diluted the historic populations of these areas in which they took iron fisted control of. The French and the British seemed the worst at this but from what I knew the Germans while still a colonial empire could be of great help in ending the historical chock hold the French and British held upon the region. But first I needed to see a unified Middle East before I could dream of creating a Near East that could rely on itself and be wholy independent.

Napoleon III threw down the paper he had been reading as he frowned after reading the headlines of the German's hosting the World's Fair. 'France should have been the host! Not those insufferable pigs!' He thought as he stood up and walked over to a map of the world next to the high glass windows in his office. He looked at the borders of Europe and imagined what it would like when half of it had a French flag planted over it.

Napoleon III imagined expanding France's Empire into the North-Eastern United States, into Germany and the Netherlands, into Iberia, and further in Africa and Arabia. He would start in Arabia, at Mecca to be precise. He had stationed the 71st Army under General Lefourte there last month along with the 6th Foreign Legion also placed under his command. Napoleon III wanted to expand French control in Arabia largely to cull the threat that was the Ottoman Empire and also to gain the valuable reserves of oil across the Arabian Peninsula. France's current holdings on the coast of the Red Sea did not allow access to much oil but it did keep the Arab's in line.

As to Europe, he would not grace the German's with his presence at the World's Fair, he would not attend this meeting of the world leaders nor had he sent a French exhibit. He didn't care if the Kaiser was insulted, France was insulted by not being the Host's of such an event. So it was time to make France more powerful in the world. And he intended to further insult Germany and Hungary by continuing to not recognize Hungarian Independence or the German Annexation of Austria as valid.

The Emperor of France went to the phone on his desk that was linked to his Secretary's line in the Outer Office. "Have the War Office send a message to General Lefourte telling him to begin Operation Eagle."

Mecca, French-Occupied Arabia

Throughout the city of Mecca, French soldiers were going around carrying torches and setting buildings afire in the city, and explosives were used to destroy some of the city's most significant monuments. After several hours, the smoke from the fires could be seen from the other end of the Arabian Peninsula. The main hope was that this would spark further conflict with the Riyadh Emirate so that France would have an excuse to march on their land and claim yet more of it.

Anttoni Alvar Lahti was sitting in the passenger seat of a FSV-00. It was one of the newer designs to roll off of the Finish automotive industry. Anttoni was wearing his fur coat as the winds blew snow constantly into the princes face. He was traveling to inspect his new line that got completed after ten long years of construction. It was only a few hours away and was starting to come into sight.

When the prince arrived he was greeted by the men who manned this section of the wall, and was where the line would be inspected. As he took a step onto the track he felt the cool air rush past him and saw the fortress in it's magnitude. It would take more than a siege howitzer to take down these walls that he ordered to be constructed ten years ago, in response to the many years of strained relations with their country, and the fact that they could have easily invaded the country. The Russians army numbered closely to the entire population of Finland. It was a magnificent sight to behold with the wall stretching a great many kilometers in either direction.

Anttoni stepped down off of the track and approached the commander and proceeded with the formalities that went along such occasions, although then again, something like this is a first for not only Finland, but most of the world. It was of such importance to the country that they even constructed a large model to show at the exposition held in Berlin alongside their standard tracked vehicle innovations. As the day went on, Anttoni gave the line its name, he named it after himself as he ordered it's construction and it should keep the country safe for generations to come as long as they keep the appropriate funds to modernize it.

When he was exploring it's interior by himself, he decided now would be a good time to write letters to Sweden and Germany. Anttoni found one of the leisure areas inside the wall and put some papers down on the heavy metal table and wrote the letters that would be sent by train up to Sweden, and by plane to Germany.

Done with the writing Anttoni sat back and gave the letters to one of the soldiers who then promptly took them and headed off towards the nearest train to deliver them. It was about time the Anttoni himself went over to Berlin for the exposition. Anttoni stood up and headed outside where he would then depart towards one of the western army bases, then to Berlin.

When Anttoni arrived to Berlin in a two seater bi-plane, he was overjoyed at the sight of the city from where he would meet with his friends and allies. As the plane sat down on the ground, Anttoni was greeted by some Finnish troops from the SFI who showed him to a modified FSV-00 that had a cabin as well as metal plating on it should anyone attempt an assassination. It was also using rubber tracks so not to damage the roads that they traveled to where he would meet Willhelm. When Anttoni got to the doors of the City palace he was overjoyed. Anttoni had asked one of the men on the premise to let him in and show him to Willhelm.

The city, covered in snow, had children running about, enjoying themselves. Shops, selling various items to help you through the snow. And a few cars here and there, but it was mostly horses. Not to say the military worked that way. The military was a modern as possible. With the Germans help, of course. There was the Swedish and the Finnish, but as they were also in the Europa Coalition, they would be taken down in due time. He looked at a map, sprawled out upon a table. The map was of Europe, and had differing colours for nations in different alliances. He examined it, and wondered what to do next. He then remembered the World Fair was to be held in Berlin soon. He left the palace and headed for the very primitive airport, where only 5 planes reside. He had all pilots (Yes, all 5 of them!) trained in Germany. He and a pilot climbed into a plane and headed for Berlin.

The days were only growing colder in the northernmost parts of Ireland, where the Free Derry Brigade had been stationed in Lifford in preparation for the liberation of Northern Ireland that is scheduled for later that day. The only problem is that the roads to Derry have been blanketed in snow and the engineers have not arrived as scheduled yesterday. This would be a problem for the commandant of the Brigade, Eoin MacNeill, due to the fact that resources would not be sent to the camp for another ten days. He sits at his desk, waiting for word from General Brian Niell on the situation.

It was still early in the morning, around 07:00 AM GMT -0, so Colonel Eoin wasn't expecting a letter to arrive for another hour. Contrary to his inference, a man of average height and stature quickly walked into the briefing tent where Eoin was preparing the plans for the day. "Sir, I bring word from General Niell. He has requested that I inform you that the liberation of Derry and Strabane will begin today at 12:00 PM GMT -0. He has already dispatched the 2nd CE Division to clear out the roads which should be finished within the next four hours. In addition, he has dispatched twelve reconnaissance balloons to observe the area. The information package is due to be dropped here at 10:00 GMT -0. I wish you well, and God be with you sir." Before he had time to respond, the messenger had already left the tent. Immediately after hearing the news, the colonel had already began writing down plans for the long march that lies ahead. Before he knew it, it was 08:00 AM GMT -0 and the bugle call, Múscail, began. The camp became alive, with men dressing and officers inspecting in only eleven minutes. Four minutes later, the bugler made another call to address the officers to the briefing tent.

It was now 10:45 GMT -0; it was now time to begin the journey to Strabane, and from there to Derry. The information package had revealed that there would be little to no resistance on the way to either town. The total distance to Strabane would only be 2.5 kilometers, but the distance between Strabane and Derry is 23.1 kilometers. The colonel was sure that the fuel would last the entire journey, combined distance and the series of isolated forests and hill valleys are always something to be wary of, not to be mentioned the blatant lack of cover in the case of an ambush by the English. It was now 11:00 AM GMT -0 and the 2nd CE have completed their assignment on time. It's time to set out. In one long column of two transports in each row, the Brigade of 3,000 men of the Free Derry Brigade were now on their way to the liberation of Derry and Strabane, and ultimately, Ulster; this would mark the start of The Republic of Ireland.

The masses Of Mecca flocked to the well the last of the cities major sights to have not yet been destroyed by the white Devils who so poshly call themselves the French as if it's a nicety to call barbarians anything but what they truly are and that is what we call barbarians. I stood upon a ledge ear the well as hundreds if not thousands of residence poured in looking for answers as to why the French have taken on such a horrific tragedy as to the distruction of several holy islamic sights throughout the city. I began to speak as the crowds grew restless.

"My fellow Muslims, I think we are not blind to the events which have transpired today, the White Devils have come to our holiest city and have desecrated it as if it were another city ripe for the plundering. But this is no average city... This is the Holiest of cities in the world! They have not just started a war with us but with all of Islam and all who support this are also enemies of Islam. As a simple Imam I can not call for a war but I have pled with many of the world Muftis to declare one.

All Muslims have the honor of performing Jihad both the spiritual greater Jihad and the physical lesser jihad. The lesser Jihad as described to us by the Prophet and the hadiths make it clear that a lesser Jihad is not a war of aggression but one of defence. And I ask you... What is more requiring of Jihad than to fight to preserve our greatest religious sights?

But we must be warriors of dignity. Target only soldiers, women, children, and male civilians are to be left alone unless the actively take part in the crimes the soldiers are taking part in or the pose a signifigent threat to your life. All able body men are to take part in driving out White Devils, if you are sick, elderly, a child, a woman, or physically and mentally unable to take part I ask you to shelter any of the righteous fighters even at the risk of your own lives. If you are a man I demand you that if you have a gun, use it. If you have a sword, use it. If you have a dagger, use it. If you have a kitchen knife, use it. My speech was finished and the people at my feet said personal prayers for victory and safety before the all shouted Allahu Akbar or God is Great before heading out into the streets to combat the French. These people were not stupid, they knew the lands and the streets by heart and the sewer system in the city could easily be used to conduct sneak attacks on French soldiers. I however was not one to fight. I took my belongs along with a MAS 1873 Revolver taking the time to pray before I took my leave of the Well and eventually out of French colonial territory into the Territory of the Emirate of Riyadh. I knew I would not be welcomed in some of the neighboring cities but I'm sure my message could reach the Emir. But he is infamous for being a slow thinking strategic pacifist so my message to him may not be enough to safe the city of his dedication to his faith wasn't.

The First Republic of Persia

January 17th, 1900

Since the formation of the First Republic of Persia, the city of Izadkhvast had been thoroughly turned into the military capital of of Persia. Site of the PRF Headquarters and housing the highest number of active ground forces of any base in the country, the city was practically one big military base. Today, no military exercises would be taking place though, as President Muhammad had authorized for the PRFRA to be enacted at the earliest convenience, the Secretary of Defense, Ali al-Faruq, had temporarily suspended military activity around the city so that the head of all military branches could sit amongst themselves without anything to obstruct the planning of the military reformation.

Major-General of the RPGF Dhofar al-Aminu, Major-Admiral of the RPN Salim al-Jazir, SpecOps Director Husan al-Sharif, along with Head of Aerial Dominance Development Hasni Assad, Head of Military Research and Development Mohamedi al-Sharek and al-Faruq had all convened in Izadkhvast to outline the official plans of the military reformation. Faruq walked into the meeting room with the rest of the military leaders, sitting down and adjusting to make himself comfortable, he spoke.

"Men, today we meet with a task today. With the passage of the Persian Republican Forces Reformation Act, we convene here to outline a plan to reform and adjust our military into a fully capable military." Faruq said. "Running down the list, things we will be discussing, in order, are; Air Force progress and other military research progress, the current state of the navy and the future plans of said navy, the current state of the ground force and the future plans for it, allocation of government funds from federal budget, and the possibility of renaming the PRF into a more suitable name."

With little response aside from nods, he spoke again, "Shall we begin?"

"In regards to the aero force development, we've seen minimal results, we have currently five experimental aeroplanes produced, but they've proven to be highly ineffective. Our current models have a mechanical flaw in the release panel for bombardments, they don't open once the release lever is pulled. We're working to solve it, but our engineers are having a difficult time figuring as to why the panels fail to open."

"These are..disappointing results, but given the little time given and little funding, I don't think I can criticize. What are your personal outlooks as to when aerial forces shall be achieved?"

"Optimistically, I hope for 8-10 months, at most though, I wouldn't be surprised for it's completion in well over 18 months."

"Very well, maintain the constant work, I'll be in touch and check regularly on your progress." Faruq assured. "More on military development?"

"Well, we've been researching rapid-fire weapons for our infantry for some time, and I think we're beginning to fully grasp the concept. We're beginning to build experimental models for us to enter testing phases so we're in good shape." R&D Director Hasni Assad said. "In addition, we've initiated research on a closed telecommunication network for our military forces, research is very limited as of now, but we expect more to come in the following months."

"Good, I like the sound of that. Let's move on to the grit of the meeting." Faruq said. "The current status of the Navy is..disappointing to say the least.

"Well with limited government funding we have had little room to fund an abled naval force."

"Of course, but again, if we can't maintain a sufficient navy, then we won't be able sustain a powerful position in the world."

"Well without proper government funding, I can't do anything about it."

"I know this, but as secretary of defense, my job is to oversee the military and make sure they're capable of providing defense for Persia, and right now the navy is incapable of doing so."

"For the time being, it'll have to do."

"Actually, the Navy will see a major increase in funding and development. We have plans to build the navy up by nearly 200 ships, including 6 battleships, 20 destroyers, and 50 submarines. Along with plans to build the manpower up by 50,000 to 80,000 by 1904. " Faruq assured the Major-Admiral.

"Moving on to the ground forces, I'm extremely proud of their current state. As the most functional and maintained aspect of our military, we have plans to increase their numbers by 60,000 to 75,000. With greater cooperating internationally, we are hoping to diversify our weapon selection as well for our active ground troops."

"With no objections," Faruq paused, "we'll carry on to the allocation of funds. For the first 18 months of this reform, most funds will be given to the research and development of an Air Force and other military ventures. Afterwards, another 4 to 5 years will be dedicated to building up the navy while 18 months will be dedicated to the ground forces. So in total, from 1900-1901 the R&D department will receive the majority of funds, from 1901 to 1905/06 the navy will be vastly improved, and from 1907 to 1908 the ground force will see a budget increase."

With all of the military leaders nodding the final subject arrived. "All in favor of renaming the military say aye." Nobody said aye. With a laugh, "in that case you're all dismissed."

January 18th, 1900

President Muhammad had just been informed of the happenings around the world. The Papal States had become sieges under a coup, stripping the Pope of his administrative power, and becoming the Republic of South Italy. Abu seen potential, a strategic position in the middle of the Mediterranean could prove useful for the First Republic. Muhammad immediately decided to reach out to the Republic and establish diplomatic ties immediately. More European news, the Hungarians responded to Persia's wishes to increase relations, agreeing to host the President himself for a state visit to Hungary with in a week.

Regionally, events have complicated things for Muhammad. The Ottomans and Ridyadh wished to meet with each other in order to establish trilateral relations as the most powerful nations in the region, but with the attack on Mecca by the French, he had little choice but to attend. However, the meeting coincided with the Hungarian visit, thus the meeting would need to be pushed back in order for Muhammad's attendance. His agenda in the meeting however, would be specifically targeted against the Ottoman Empire and it's weakening, while simultaneously increasing the power of Persia almost ten-fold.

Persia, in the mind of Muhammad, was on the come up. Established relations with fellow anti-Russian countries had brought a sense of assurance that the Russians were not invincible, that there was an opposition. Muhammad knew that for Persia to rise, other nations would have to fall significantly. As to who, Muhammad had his aim set already.

People were gathered in the independence square for the speech of President Mikhailo Hrushevskiy and then the President arrived and stand on the stage, people were cheering and after that the people were quiet. "Citizens of Ukraine, I feel apologize about that policy, that was not official but anyways today we will make Ukraine a develop country through Operation: Suchesny! Everyone must participate in this operation so that Ukraine will be a progressive country!" after that beautiful speech, people were applaud from the speech. So, the Operation: Suchesny has finally started.

The ports of Palermo were buzzing with activity. Ever since the letter from. Hungary had been received stating that they would allow a South Italian colony in Northwest Somaliland, the government had been frantically throwing together a colonial expedition. 5,000 colonists had been assembled, along with 1,000 soldiers, who would serve as the garrison. 2 Frigates would accompany the ships to the coast, then stay there to help with the colonization. Today, the colony fleet was complete, with the supplies and people loaded on. With cheering from the crowd, and a send off speech from President Mendazi himself, the fleet upled away from Palermo, headed towards the Suez Canal.

The night was an absolute black, the stars and the moon had vanished from the sky and its magnificence diluted to a murky black. As the reports of the destruction of Mecca and the posibility of Arab revolts in the region had me first in a silent panic but as I collected myself I got back to my feet and looked out over the almost invisible sands dressed in the black night I thought about the attack.

Now why would the French do this? There had to be a reason for it. The French did not simply do this out of the evil in their hearts otherwise they would have done this earlier. They should however know that this would cause a war with Islamic countries of the Middle East. Would it be to ignite a war without violating national soverignty. It seemed unlikely but I'd put nothing pass the French given our previous history together. My true fear was however that a possible genocide of Muslims Arabs again something I wouldn't put it past the French to do so if the rumors of a popular revolt were true and if they were I truly feared a great humanitarian crisis.

Now however was time to act not to contemplate, the Persians had just sent a message informing me that the president himself would be unable to attend the meeting which was a major inconvinence given that we really didn't have the week to extend him given the situation in the west. I also needed to make some sort of military move in the west but nothing to provoke a French attack on the Emirate. My Field Marshal Abdulhakim al-Wasi who had been standing by my side since the start of this situation.

"Al-Wasi..." I said with a heaviness to my tone

"Yes your great?" He responded in the typical stern yet soft tone he had honed throughout his years of service.

"I want you to send out the Al-Aswad Regiment to the frontier with Franco-Arabia. Have them fully armed but inform them to never cross the boarder nor to fire at french troops even if fired upon. I want them to scout out French positions in the area and nothing more." I said, the Al-Aswad Regiment were a group of super elite reconnaissance scouts of the Arabian Military and I knew that if they couldn't do this job I didn't know who could and thus had trust in them to do this job correctly.

"Yes my greatness. Anything else you like me to do?"

"Tell the troops to be deployment ready" I said as the Field Marshal as he took his leave from the room. I then sat down and penned two messages one of which would be sent out by the night. The other would have to wait until later before its contents were shown to the world.

On the windy and cold north coast of Germany, Oscar II had just docked. He took a quick trip to the railway, and was on a train to Berlin in no time. All his advisors insisted on taking a plane to Berlin, but he was old fashioned. If you took a plane, you wouldn't see the great views that Europe has to offer. His son, Prince Gustaf, was running the country while he was away.

Gustaf was certainly getting his work cut out for him. A letter from Finland arrived, asking for an alliance. Gustaf knew what his father would do. ''Neutrality is Sweden's way,'' he'd say. However, Gustaf dreamed for a coalition of all the Nordic countries, but he didn't expect Finland to be the one to start it off.

The letter was given to the defence minister, who was boarding a ship on the east coast. They took off for Finland, and likely to arrive in a few hours. Meanwhile, Oscar II's train reached the outskirts of Berlin. He stepped out and breathed in the air. It smelt of industry, as most of Germany does. Not as clean as Sweden though. He boarded a small car, which took him straight to the door of the Kaiser's palace. After dusting himself down, to look more respectable, he walked in.

Prime Minister Fergus MacDougall paced around his office, having just come out of a parliamentary meeting. It seemed everybody wanted money, yet even after they'd raised taxes and seized the assets of exiled monarchists, there had only been barely enough to repair the country's infrastructure and refurbish the defensive line on the English border. Fergus was distracted from his thoughts about the Republic's finances by a knock on his door. "Come in!" he hollered.

An aide slid open the door, offering Fergus an envelope. "Sir, a letter from Ireland."

"Thank you." Walking to the door, he extracted the envelope from the aide's hand, tearing it open as he returned to his desk. Sitting down upon his chair, the Prime Minister removed the letter from the envelope, unfolding it to reveal the message from his Irish counterpart. "So it has begun," Fergus muttered, summoning his aide. When the face of the young man reappeared in the doorway, he spoke. "Is the Marshal still in the building?"

"Aye, perhaps," came the reply. "I believe he was just leaving, actually."

"Fetch him." The aide hurried away. Moments later, he returned with a tall, middle-aged man wearing a crisp military uniform. "Marshal Ramsay. Please, have a seat." Fergus gestured at an empty chair in front of his desk.

Marshal Charles Ramsay was the current commander-in-chief of the Scots Republican Army. Achieving the rank of General before the age of forty, he had been one of Scotland's most promising military officers before his early retirement in protest against King Charles VI's authoritarian policies. During the civil war, he had assumed command of republican forces. "Fergus. I was about to go out for a nice dinner. Why am I here?"

The Prime Minister's face was grim. "Ireland is liberating Ulster today. We will of course, support them. You need to prepare for a mobilization, as we'll most likely be dealing with a Rearing Lion."

The Marshal did not seem surprised. "Of course, sir. Is there anything else?"

"No. Thank you for your time." As the military man exited, Fergus began composing several letters, to be sent to various foreign leaders.

Muhammad was on his personal train going south. They would go to Palestine then 5,000 elite Ottoman men on horseback would wait for him there, where he would board a carriage and they will continue to Arabia. The plan was once they stopped at Palestine, Muhammad would send out his new orders about getting the Ottoman Army ready near the Balkans. In fact, he and General Elmas had already sent our messengers north to make sure they werent too late. The forces would be transferred south to Palestine and General Elmas would not go to Arabia, he would in fact stay behind in Palestine and make sure the troops are ready and well trained. The major concern was at the moment not France though, it was Persia. Even though they were visiting Arabia, they still wanted huge parts of Ottoman land for "Greater Persia". The Persian army cant hope to fight the Ottomans, but if the Ottomans had to fight both France and Persia, there was a chance they would lose badly. So to make sure Persia doesnt get any ideas of war, he ordered for troops at Baku, Baghdad, and Kuwait to be mobilized. However, this could also make the Persians think war was indeed coming so Muhammad sent a letter to the Persians (WIP) stating that they were looking forward to discussing the 2 nations' relationships. He was thinking all this and more when Elmas said they arrived in the regional capital of south Palestine. Stepping outside, he saw his 5,000 honor guard all on horses and started walking there when locals were coming and chanting something.
"Death to the French! Destroyers of Mecca! Long live Sultan Muhammad the II!
Speaking to Elmas, Muhammad asked him why he was included in this chant and Elmas replied that there were many rumors about Muhammad declaring war on the French and hes only going to Arabia to get an ally to invade the French. Laughing, Muhammad had no doubt his minsters for interior affairs had something to do with these rumors but there was no harm. If anything, it got more to people to sign up for the military and the people's support for him rose.
Getting in his carriage, Muhammad sat down and signaled for the 2 military advisers waiting for him to start. One of them pulled out a map and showed the major cities in Egypt, and the ones that actually held any importance for the Ottoman Empire to invade.

After some debate, they decided to conquer Egypt fully, they needed control of the cities Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, and Suez. Mecca would go to the Arabians because they felt this was the best way to make sure the Arabs stayed friendly to the Ottomans. Having this done, Muhammad decided to rest and ordered for the map to be taken away, and told his 2 advisers he needed a tiny nap and he was not to be awaken unless something big has happened.

Representing the Republic of Hungary at the Grand World Expo was a massive pavilion designed by native Hungarian architects, using a combination of Art Nouveau and other forms of new, modern architecture. Inside, the pavilion was filled with a variety of objects that would represent the nation - including medieval armor and swords to represent the rich history, culture and traditions of Hungary as well as skillful agricultural produce and farm equipment and machinery to represent Hungary's strong agricultural base, which, despite the nation's industrialization, still remains even now. A truly brilliant work of art and symbolic of his nation and its culture and history, President Baráth marveled at its size and beauty; it was nothing like the pictures he had seen of the pavilion under construction, and this was his first time seeing it in real life, since the pavilion only had been recently finished. It was also reminiscent of the beauty of Budapest and its buildings and castles. Of course, the President knew that the Grand World Exposition would be opening soon, and he also knew he had to be making his way for the early meeting with Wilhelm II. The President of Hungary soon broke his gaze away from the Pavilion before starting to make his way to the designated meeting place.

The Governor-General of Hungarian Somaliland, András Szebek frowned as he saw the news - French forces had burned and destroyed monuments in the city of Mecca, and were now facing a revolt on their hands, as well as possible military action from the Ottoman Empire and Emirate of Riyadh, two predominately Muslim countries. What are they thinking? He assumed that the French were trying to provoke a reaction from either of them to justify a war against them. However, Szebek worried that if they succeeded, the French and British would have almost complete control over the Middle East and threaten Hungarian Somaliland, as well as gain access to valuable oil sources that could fuel future war efforts. However, despite controlling most of the affairs for the country, he didn't have the authority to supply or even lend military support and training to the Emirate. András decided he would need to schedule a meeting or send a message to the President regarding this; should the French and the British choose to pre-emptively strike them, there was little the 15,000-strong Hungarian Somaliland Corps could do except retreat and hope for reinforcements. While the French actions in Mecca certainly worried him, he could do little right now except put the colony's Corps and the small fleet based in Mogadishu on alert.

Re-Arming The Lines

A new order has been put in place. With the recent relations with Ukraine and the Southern Republic of Italy it has come to the presidents mind to disarm the built defense along the Balkan-Ukrainian border and The Balkan-Peloponnese border to help increase positive relations with those countries. Then a new problem emerged, where would these defenses go? So a new doctrine was drawn up, one that will remove the unneeded defense, move defense where they can be used, and upgrade the balkan defenses.

The Line's

Korean officials had debated what to present in the Grand World Exposition, but it was decided to that Korea would present its industrial and scientific power, as well as cultural artifacts from the past. A traditional Korean building with a courtyard was built to house the Korean exhibit. On display in the building was the Jikji, the oldest surviving book that was printed using movable type, as well as models of Korean planes that hung from the ceiling. Scale models of Korean vehicles, vessels, battles, and cities were flanked by pottery from ancient to modern times in the center of the house. Along the walls, ancient traditional Korean paintings were displayed, protected by glass from the outside world. Outside, in the courtyard, a copy of a geobukseon sat, surrounded in the front by the National Korean Orchestra. Currently, they were dressed in traditional Korean garb and playing traditional folk music. Later, they would perform modern music in modern clothing at the Berliner Philharmonie.

Operation Seollal

It was an ambitious operation. Korean agents had slowly bribed, corrupted, and turned several Hawaiian officials into rebelling against the current queen over a course of 5 years. Open rebellion had spread across the Hawaiian islands, and Korea was sending two company of marines and one Sejong-class Superdreadnought, the I.K.S Seoul, to the islands. Officially, it was to protect Korean businesses and civilian that had done business on the island for the past few decades. In reality, it was an attempt to stifle opposition to the current rebellion. If all went well, the rebellion would manage to overthrow the current queen of the isles and install a government that would be controlled by Korean agents in the area. Already, royalist factions were surrendering due to the news of the Korean task-force. In order to secure Korea's hold over the Pacific and Hawaiian islands, another task force, comprised of one Samjoko-class Dreadnought, the I.K.S Jeonju and one Battalion of Korean Expeditionary troops were sent to create a naval and air base in the Midway Atoll.
