White Pride: A good thing?

This has been on my mind lately. Is white pride a good thing?

In my opinion, white pride is a positive thing. I'm not a racist, and support pride of all other Races. I think it's good to be proud of Ones race.

Some people may think that Racial nationalism/pride is just a sanitized front for racism or racial supremacy. I do not think that one who is proud of their ethnicity a racist. I just think that they're proud to be white, black or whatever other race they are.

So NSG, what's your opinion on this topic?

Being prideful of one's race is never a good or logical thing.

Of course, it's equally bad to be shameful of it.

Why would I be proud of something so immaterial? It'd be like being proud of having brown eyes or detached ear lobes. If the amount of melanin in your skin is the only thing that you can find to be proud of, I really do pity you.

Pride in your actual ethnic background, be that French, English, German etc is not a problem and can be a good thing.

"White" is a category created and maintained to elevate the status of those inside it when compared to those outside of it. You shouldn't have pride in being a part of that, you should distance yourself from the concept as much as possible.

The color of one's skin and ancestors' skin is the result of ultraviolet light, latitude and climate. I do not see that as something to be proud of.

I take pride in my community. I take pride in my country. I take great pride in my family and friends. However, race is rather different. Having white skin isn't a community, group, or city, or anything of the sort. Rather, it's a skin color shared by over a billion people. Pride in any skin color is futile, and often leads to racial supremacism.

For instance, if a black man were to say "I have black pride", I'd mock his beliefs. If an Asian man said "yellow power", I'd mock him as well. When a white man says "white pride worldwide", I tend to do the same.

Because there's no logic in being prideful over something you literally have no control over and didn't contribute to.
Wikipedia defines pride as:
"With a positive connotation, pride refers to a satisfied sense of attachment toward one's own or another's choices and actions, [...] and is a product of praise, independent self-reflection, or a fulfilled feeling of belonging."

Having a fulfilled sense of attachment to the color of skin your were born with is akin to having a fulfilled sense of attachment to being tall. It just doesn't make any sense.

If you have other things to be proud of, why are you concerned with something as trivial as skin colour? It's not an achievement or something which has a significant impact on your personality or values.

I don't see what's wrong with being proud of your skin colour. Its part of who you are.
It doesn't give you an excuse to dislike other colours though.

To be fair, we'd be a tad freaked out if our skin randomly changed color, because we're used to our current one.

It's so abstract and immaterial that I've never been able to understand why people took pride in it.

"French pride," "Italian pride," "Germanic pride," or even "Western pride," is another matter.
