Hello A&F, this is an idea that I promised the community back in November or so and then immediately forgot about.
But I recently re-unforgot about it, and now I've decided to actually do it! Yay!

Nationstates: A Europa Universalis IV Mod

FAQ:

Q: What the fuck is a "Universalis"?
A: Terrible question! Europa Universalis IV (also known as EU4 or EUIV) is a grand strategy game developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. It centers on the years 1444 through 1821 and lets you play as any country that existed during or between those years. But you probably already knew that.

Q: What will this mod contain?
A: Nations based on actual NS nations from this community. It will feature accurate land borders (as described by the creator of the nation), government style, etc. It also renames "Ottomans" to "Ottoman Empire". I'm not sure why it does that. I don't remember adding that to the mod, but it changes the name for some reason. Seems to be graphical only though.

Q: What does this mod not contain?
A: Anything else. It doesn't add any government types, religions, etc. It doesn't modify the map or change the timeline. There are other mods for that. For me to make the mod Extended Timeline-compatible would require almost triple the effort of simply making the mod, so it isn't going to happen. Sorry. The mod also doesn't introduce or remove any game mechanics or anything like that. Finally, the mod will only contain a starting scenario - it will not, ever, simulate your nation's entire history, just its existence as you give it to me. Again, that would require ten times the effort of just making the map, and making the map is already damn tedious as it is.

Government type, culture, and religion have to be actual religions in the game. Take note that Buddhism was split into three religions in the last path, and 'buddhism' now refers specifically to Tibetan Buddhism.
Land claims can be anything from a description to an actual map. If you're submitting a map, it's preferred (but not mandatory) that you use an EU4 province map as it'll make my life way easier.
If you don't supply a flag I'll just use your account flag.

Based on what part of the world you're in unless you explicitly state otherwise. Considering EU4 starts in 1444 it wouldn't make much sense for everyone to start western, but I have no problem doing so if that's what people want.

I reckon we ought to get the opinions of others on this - I'd like my country to have a tech level that would allow it to colonize, but starting in Europe's boring, especially as I wouldn't choose a European religion; but that's not to say I wouldn't take part.

...non-western countries can colonize in EU4. Locking it down to western countries was only a thing in Victoria 2.
