Dawn of a New World (Fantasy - Diplo/War Thread)

Postby United Martains » Tue May 26, 2015 2:06 am

The world is new, freshly created by the gods, left now for the mortal races to shape as they choose...

Races such as the Hahsriiti, the Olktatth, the Óðinnweyjan, the Delkhar, the Crocodylus, the Aureals, and the Xiushani have emerged, and more may still come to the new continents. Thousands of years of history are yet to unfold. But it began here.

Welcome to "Dawn of a New World." The premise of this RP is simple. This world has just been created in the last few decades. It has no history behind it yet, no established lore. Just an untapped world of magic, war, politics, heroes, etc. etc. You get the point.

The purpose of this thread is to use for events that do not contribute to the overall time of the world in the IC thread, such as battles and diplomatic negotiations.

IC THREAD IS HERE!
OOC THREAD IS HERE!

The Bist-Rotcyv Basin, South of Hahsriit, 29th of Tratus, The Third Month, of the 86th year

Sratthrid Trayhali, a member on the Hasriit council, traveled southwards. He left Huhsrova on the 26th of Tratus, stopping a night in the hah of Sraet, continuing the next day to Civahah Srot. Then he moved beyond the borders of Hahsriit, along the Bist river, in the direction of the nearest Aureal city (Narenzia). Accompanying him were two of his advisers and fellow envoys, as well as four guards, armed only with basic swords. All seven of them were clothed well, the soldiers wearing ceremonial uniforms, to represent the Hasriiti well. They rode horses through the fertile grassland. Their intent was to establish a secure, peaceful relationship with the Aureals, potentially resulting in alliances of trade and military support. Or, it could go the other way, and war could break out. They were about to find out.

For on the horizon, the city of Narenzia grew close. It was getting late, about 5 o'clock, when they drew close to the city. Making no signs of aggression, hoping only for the best.

Narenzia Proper, Province of Aratheron

The scout returned to the Aurien's Hall.

''Aurien Penalis, we have confirmed a group of Humans heading this way. They seem to be Diplomatic. Actions sire?'' the exhausted scout informed the Aurien. Penalis could not afford to start a war. A war? no, He will not be remembered in history as the man who ended the Aureal holdings in the Western Territories. ''Scout, send in a medical and diplomatic team to meet them there. Inform the Portmaster of preparing a ship to be sent to Brellach.'' the Aurien replied

Narenzia is a trading and military port in the Province of Aratheron. It's designed to withstand days of constant siege and invasion. This is the headquarters of the 2nd Aratheron Marines. And if military could not impress the envoys, the architecture will.

Half an hour later, a convoy carriages arrived with the 2nd Aratheron Marines escorting them. Each carriage was fanciful. Fruits were placed in compartments and a magical lantern illuminated each one.

''Hasriit isn't it? I'm Aurien Penalis, the Aurien of Narenzia. We shall escort you to the Aurien's Hall and proceed with booking your transportation to Brellach; a major city in Aetherwynd Isle. From there, you will be escorted by Asunderan Marines to the Crystal Palace in Asundera.''

"Thank you. Thank you," Sratthrid. He was, of course, impressed by the grandeur of the Aureal citadel, and their military. The Hasriit buildings were not unappealing to the eye, but they were simple, efficient structures, not truly built for looks. However, every building in Narenzia seemed to be just as much a work of art as a building, created with much thought behind it. However, even more so, Sratthrid was impressed by the Aureal's competence with magic. Magic in Hasriit was entirely accepted, but rarely seen, mostly only used by priests, not studied by the general populace. Magic seemed to bee commonplace among the Aureals.

He and his men arrived at the Aurien's Hall. Unfamiliar with the Aureal customs, Sratthrid and his men were cautious not to offend anybody, being very gracious for the hospitality they were receiving. Thus far, their reception has been taken well, and Sratthrid felt more confident in the success of the negotiations.

A servant approached the entourage and handed them a handbill.

''Sirs, please read through this handbill and make sure to follow the list. Admiral Grandariion is visiting town with the Marble Fleet.''

Civility and Etiquette in the Aurealic Dominion
By Canron Pansroove

As a guest, you are expected to follow these rules accordingly. If you are not of Aurealic heritage, please carefully examine this note given to you by the Ministry of Internal Culture. As, the Aureal race, we have a set of rule that needs to be observed. For you will be dining at a Aurealeon dinner table and surely you won’t be judged too harshly for minor misunderstandings.

However, the more you know, the better the impression that you make, and impressions are quite important. Here are a few simple rules to help improve your table presence and impress your hosts:

Refill the glass of the diner to your left when it is low. Never refill your own glass.
Never rest utensils on the edge of any vessel.
Do not eat more than the most prestigious attendee at any function.
Always allow the head of your table to lead the discussion.
Never watch another while they chew.
Using the wrong utensil is considered barbaric. If you do not know which to use, watch other guests and follow their example.

The Aurien then escorted them towards the door. As it opened, the grand hall of the Aurien was revealed and dozens of servants aligned themselves symmetrically to welcome the new guests.

Stratthrid thanked servant for the useful handbill. He knew that the Aureals had a strong navy, containing multiple fleets. Admiral Grandariion of the Marble Fleet certainly sounded prestigious.

Stratthrid read the note aloud to his companions. They nodded, taking note of the interesting customs. Hasriiti were polite during meals, of course, but had no such formal customs. Refilling the glass to the left and not your own, seemed pointless. Eating less than the most prestigious person at a function seemed like it would be annoying, should such a person have little appetite. However, such customs must be followed, in order to secure Hahsriit a good reputation among the Aurealic Dominion.

As the walked into the grand hall, they were amazed at the number of servants before them, and the intricacy and appearance of the room. They followed the directions of the Aurien, taking in the new sight with awe.

''Very interesting. You Humans have proven to be civilized. As you see, our scout ships have been monitoring your activities on your coasts for a little while. I am not against your race. I'm against those racist bastards like Aryanne. My superior and head of the Golden Fleet. Your lucky that she isn't in Aetherwynd for the next 2 months as she is supervising the construction of a Marine Fortress down south.''

''Follow me now. I am rather hungry.''

The servants opened an even larger door with a long crystal like table and complete with utensils and elegant chinaware.

''Let us pray to Merithia. High Priest, kindly bless our food.''

The servant signaled the Humans to sit down in the lofty and comfortable chairs. And thus, the prayer began.

''Merithia, Goddess of Immortality, Magic and the Aureals. We heed your blessing! May you bless these humans with your eternal hearth and rid them of the demons who used them. Bless our foods and grace us with a bountiful harvest. Raise our fleets and let us rule the oceans! Guard our lands with your sword of sunfyre. Merithia. We thank you.''

''So, shall we begin?''

Sratthrid Trayhali introduced himself to Admiral Granderiion, along with the other two diplomats with him, Hana Thruteceri and Ravin Derhah. The party did indeed seem to have a stroke of luck with having Admiral Granderiion as the superior officer at Narenzia at this time, as he was welcoming of humans (and he appeared to be a minority on that count).

Not to be outdone by themselves, the elves continued to display their grandeur with the new dining hall. The party took the seats they were directed to. The prayer was nice, and the Hasriiti appreciated the kind gestures entailed within.

And the meal and discussion begun.

''Now, we are all aware that your colonists have landed in the East. I'd not recommend expanding far too north. Our northern fleet reports settlements of unknown origins.'' Granderiion continued talking. ''The Aurealic Fleet is unsure if they are hostile. Perhaps you have heard of them?''

Then, a buffet of different exotic foods from Aetherwynd arrived. Dozens of chefs prepared the meal for the 40 who were sitting in the table. ''Here's the food. Prepare to eat.''

''Now, tomorrow you will head towards Brellach and travel to Asundera and meet Queen Barenthia.''

"We have heard rumors and seen sights of northern raiders. They have not attacked our shores, but we are wary of them. We intend to go somewhat north, but not to far. Most of our new colonial efforts is intended to be focused directly east. But not in to your territory, of course."

As if the Hahsriiti were not impressed enough before, the food looked exquisite. The party waited for others at the table to begin eating before they did, out of respect and caution, to see which utensils were to be used for each dish and course.

On the mention of future travels, Sratthrid was most grateful.

"Thank you, thank you. We greatly appreciate your hospitality."

After the Dinner Party

''It's nice to knoww you people. Oh well, better sleep now. Here's your room. If you want to open the Aetherius [Stars] Observation Deck, just call the servants.' He then closed the door.

The Golden Fleet - 7 Hours away from Narenzia.

''Grand Admiral! Humans have set foot on Narenzia! Human envoys they say that the Marble Fleet would escort them to our most holy isle! Merithia help us!''

''Very well servant, Captain! inform the other ships that we shall block the Marble Fleet from entering Aetherwynd Isle. Make sure that they won't enter the docks of Brellach!''

Sratthrid thanked the Admiral again for all his hospitality, and the party entered the room. After relaxing for a while and discussing the nights proceedings, they decided to open the Observation Deck. It gave them a beautiful view of the stars, which they marveled at for some time. Slowly, the party grew weary, and proceeded to their respective chambers to rest, as they knew they would have a big day ahead of them tomorrow.

They didn't know just quite how big it would be, though...

A Laksolkt Village to the North of Olktokth

The raiding party which had departed to the Port of Faxeboi nearly a day earlier finally landed under the cover of dusk. They silently pulled their longships onto the shores of the sandy beach, to their west they could see a coastal village surrounded by wooden walls. The raiders did not need to do little setting up, for they carried their weapons on their backs. Once the boats were anchored half of the force quickly departed everyone drew one of their weapons, and the torchbearers lit their torches, which in order to avoid being detected they hid just below their shields.

They ran quickly up the beach and just behind the southern walls of the village were the gate stood, the guards didn't seem to be present, or they couldn't see them from behind the walls. Everyone raised their shields and the torchbearers put their torches to the wooden gates, which burst caught fire. Several of the tallest and strongest raiders, launched themselves at the flaming portion of the wall, using their shields to protect them from the flames and began to snap the wooden pikes that consisted of the wall. Meanwhile some hacked the walls with their battle axes while being protected from above with their shields.

Around the other side of the village the longships sailed up and everyone including the leading general departed, their was a small protected harbour for fishermen that they raiders would attempt to penetrate.

The Marble Fleet, Dawn

Four servants were tasked in waking up each envoy. ''Sirs, please wake up for the ships are set to sail'' Outside, the ships were enormous. Their design was perfectly manufactured and mini-trebuchets were placed in gem-encrusted locations. Twelve of these ships were waiting for the humans.

The port was huge. Eight merchant ships were at the dock unloading their package. Three transport ships were ferrying Dominion citizens across the Isle and two Galleon-like navy ships were guarding the flow of traffic. The Fleet barely fitted the docks. It took a day to fit them all in. Nevertheless, the Aurealic citizens in the colonies pursue an alliance with their northern neighbors. However, those in the homeland are hostile to humans. As the high nobility resides there.

''Raise the eagle banner! and prepare the ships, man the boats and ready yourselves!''

''Get ready, we will soon set sail to Aetherwynd Isle'' shouted the portmaster.

In the sea, a busy traffic of various Dominion ships are seen moving around the colonies. In the distance, a silhouette of what seems like another fleet is increasingly moving closer.

Zromskakhts Zrums Lukszrams was awoken by a guard who had run into his longhouse. He was shaking the old man awake, whispering loudly into his ear.
"Zromskakhts! The enemy is upon us!"
Lukszrams, still in a groggy state of half-sleep, lashed out at the guard, who deftly avoided the blow. Waking up fully, the Zromskakhts realised the severity of the situation. He could hear burning - he could smell it too. He looked towards the guardsman, who was evidently afraid of what would happen. He had not expected for a raid by the North-Men, but now he felt a fool for refusing to believe his own son.
"Hand me my horn. Rally the guards to my position. We will fight these raiders from the north."
"Yes, Zromskakhts!"
The guard ran to a drawer at the back of the longhouse, while the Zromskakhts donned chainmail and a helmet, then took up his axe. Taking the horn in one hand, he walked slowly outside. He could see the destruction of his village - what was occurring there was not a raid, but a massacre. Putting his lips to the horn's end, he sounded it. All the guards who had been fighting would converge on his position, and could therefore present a united front of attack.
Just as he did that, he got a horse from the stables and picked up an axe from a fallen warrior which lay on the ground. He forced the axe into the guardsman's hand.
"Ride for Vraksakth - tell the Zrams and the guards that Zromskakhts Lukszrams sent you. Tell him about the raids - the other villages and holds must be able to prepare. Leave through the South gate - it will have less resistance," He was preparing for the worst, and guards had begun to arrive around him for a final stand or a very close victory. The one guard was surprised to say the least.
"But Zromskakhts, I..."
"Quit fooling around, boy! Get to the city!"
The guardsman got onto his horse and the gates were opened swiftly to prepare for his departure. He galloped off at a quick pace towards the Mountain City.

Narenzia, 30th of Tratus, The Third Month, of the 86th year

The envoys and guards awoke, and began preparations for the day to come. Briefly washing themselvs, they followed the directions giving them to the docks.

The Aurealic ships were just like their buildings, giant, and built not just for practicality but also for aesthetics. As if the envoys were not impressed enough...

Boarding one of the ships, they party began to relax, sitting around and observing the seamanship of the elves. One of the bodyguards stood at the side of the ship, looking out at the ocean. As the ships began pulling out to sea, he noticed the objects on the horizon. He pointed it out to one of the sailors. "What's that over there?"

''Where? that?! By Merithia, this is not good!'' the sailor hopped and jumped through the cargo of the ship and finally arrived at the wheel.

''Captain Indrasiil, ships bearing the sigil of the Golden Fleet approaches! What should we do? shall we hid the guests on the lower deck?''

the Captain stopped driving the enormous ship. He stood and took his telescope and verified the threat. As his eye scrolled through the vast fleet. It is known that the Golden Fleet has at least 21 ships and is manned by 4,000 sailors and marines. Whilst, the smaller Marble Fleet is only manned by 400.

'Admiral Granderiion, It's Aryanne.''

Within minutes, the flagship of the Dominion easily eclipsed the large transport vehicle of the Envoys. There was no time to hide the guests at all. The rest of the fleet was still flooded with confusion.

''Humans, who are you to enter our sacred motherland?!'' and added,''Your kin led to the destruction of Old Panmerethi!''

Aryanne was fearsome. Her glass and gold armor looked intimidating. Not to add her Crystal sword that had a fire enchantment.

Surprised by the sudden turn of events, the Hahsriiti gathered together. They didn't think they could ever see a larger ship, and yet here this colossal flagship was, dwarfing the already giant ship. When hailed by Aryanne, Sratthrid responded as peacefully as he could.

"We are peaceful diplomats, who seek the welfare of both our peoples. Perhaps our distant kin did destroy your old homeland, but our nation has been nothing but peaceful to you. We intend to stay that way, if we can find a way for our interests to align."

''Very well you bastard. Enter Brellach.''

The fleet then withdrawed and the ships continued to set sail towards the Major city called Brellach.

Sratthrid jumped a little inside when Granderiion shouted out "ARE YOU MAD," fearing he had done some great injustice and offence in the Aurealic culture, but he settled when he realized the exclamation was directed at Aryanne. (OOC: I actually jumped a little inside IRL :P )

"Thank you for your support in this, Granderiion," Sratthrid said when they were out of earshot of the Gold Fleet. "I am most grateful for everything you have done for us."

''No, i thank you. It's time we shift from oppressing Humans to educate them with literature and various magic schools. My father is Highlord Naren, tell him that i sent you. And make sure to avoid all contacts with all homelanders.''

the Transport vessel arrived at the Wharfs of Brellach where an entire contingent of Royal Marines awaited the arrival of the envoys. Brellach was obviously larger than the other cities. It was three times the size of Narenzia and had three times the garrison. Carriages were everywhere yet the Marines managed to control the streets.

After they arrived, the Commander of the contingent greeted the envoys.

''So, shall we head to the Crystal Palace?''

Saying their farewells to Granderiion, the party stepped off the ship onto Aetherwynd Isle. Sratthrid greeted the commander politely.

"Hello, sir. Yes, thank you. That would be good."

The party walked through the city bewildered. The Aureals never ceased to impress.

The route was well guarded. Forty-five marines escorted the carriage. They entered the artificially controlled forests of Farethmorse Glade. The magnificent forest leading to the Crystal palace, As said by the naturalist Scholar named Handiril,

''It's... to well clean. It's not like the forests of the colonies or something. The homelanders demand obedience from them. If magic doesn't do the job, they'll just cut it. They would be obsessed with clipping and pruning and even tying trunks down to encourage them to bend in strange ways. I heard they'll have them uprooted, even after years of work, if just one flower blooms without exactly the right number of petals, or if one fruit doesn’t have the 'proper' number of seeds. It’s all about control for them. It's horrible. I feel bad for their gardens''

In an unexpected meet, Grand Sage Rundalacano met their escorts. The humans were confused of what was happening. Their escort suddenly bowed and worshiped this man. Was he their god or something?
