Ahmad Zulkifli Hassan, CEO
of AZHTech Corporation
AZHTech started as a military defense company sponsored by the Malay Rayan government to further their knowledge and acquire modern military technologies and assets of land forces in 1971. The CEO of the company then is the late Hassan Budiyawan, the father of the current 55-year old CEO.
In the following year, the company under the supervision of Hassan started looking for foreign companies to partner up with them and create a joint project that would fruit military vehicles to be used by the Malay Rayan Army. One of the first companies willing to do this is the German-based Rheinmetall Defense Company.
The first machine made from the partnering of these two companies is the R-AZH 75 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (RT-75 IFV). It used most of its technology from Rheinmetall, from which the AZH Company started studying it with their permission and started producing their own licensed version.
The partnering continues with the participation of the Ruskazian ZiL Defense Company. They were interested with the RT-75 IFV and together these 3 companies started the development of an AFV TD the next year of 1976. 3 years later, AZH and ZiL started manufacturing of it in small numbers for the Malay Rayan Army, as well as several other nations that were interested. Rheinmetall as the provider of the technologies gets most of the royalties.
In 1988, the company was privatized due to a critical economy problem faced by Malay Raya, and all aids by the the government was frozen. In that year also Hassan Budiyawan died due to a heart attack at the age of 70. and Ahmad Zulkifli replaced his father as the CEO of AZHTech Corporation.
Up until 2015, AZH has gathered an arsenal of land army machines including tanks and AFV's as well as some small arms. The company now looks to expand its arsenal with more vehicles, specifically AFV's and its first MLRS. Starting from 2010, AZHTech also offers elite mercenary services, capable of conventional or un-conventional warfare depending on its client's needs.
