New Kiev, Greater Soviet Ukraine
Music blared from speakers as a large crowd gathered on the streets of Greater Soviet Ukraine as a massive statue of Vladmir Lenin looked down upon them. They were all waiting for the new year.

Vodka overflowed from bars as people revel in celebration while watchful police started putting barricades to contain the crowd.

Two of the group of celebrators, Vlad and Alex, were sitting at a crowded bar, the Winter Palace, while waiting for the New Year's.

"Alright, here's what I think. Rome is going to sneak across the Mediterranean and attack Crimea from the South."

Vlad frowned at Alex. "No you idiot, the Black Sea Fleet would push the assault back like a fly!"

Alex countered: "No, who would expect an attack of the South!?"

Vlad sighed: "This is why you got rejected when you took Political Science as your major, Alex"

"But still! The Soviet Army would obviously expect a land attack. You have to be subtle."

The New Year's timer went down to 59.

"Alex, there's literally no way Rome can attack us expect through a land invasion."

"No, the Turks are probably scheming with the Itals down in Istanbul"

"Sure, the Turks would allow a huge invasion force to tip-toe through Istanbul, hmm?"

"Yeah, the Russians wouldn't even see it!"

"Please, they'll load the AA from across the Kerch and blow the bombers out of the sky. You know the Rus want Crimea."

"The Romans hate commies."

"It that vodka getting to you? We're talking about how Rome would invade us right now!"

The timer ticked down to zero.

Alex hit his head on the roof of the bar serving area and was knocked out. Vlad just shook his head and watched the fireworks go of on Red Square.

Electorate-King Tomas Brødersen watches the fireworks of the new year's day while talking with the Minister of Militaristic Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs about possibly invading Sweden and Finland

"How do you suggest this be done? Ever since Sweden took over Finland,switched to communism,and got the USSR's Support,They have been equipped with Soviet Weaponry" said Brødersen
"I suggest we have the Romans aid us by supplying artillery,weapons,and vehicles.They are our closest allies." said the Svenningsen
"Imagine what message that would send to the Soviets? We would be in a war we couldn't fight" said Mr.Hjorth just as the fireworks display displayed the Danish Confederacies Flag.
"I have to agree with you, Mr.Hjorth." said Brødersen "Ever since Sweden's switch,we have been on our toes.I wonder what Sweden will do."
Svenningsen blurted out "Best not wait to find out!" and he wished he could take that statement back as the New Year's Cheer had left Brødersen's face.
"Gentlemen,please leave my office.I have something to do." He then began doing a survey done by the citizens to see the political leanings of the current Danish Cabinet.

WOLRD ANARCHIC UNION
People from around the Union are celebrating the start of the new year and their new-found freedom from corruption and authorities. They are without a ruler and run by local councils. All of Latin America ,Greece and Aragon and Catalonia in Spain are without a ruler. World Anarchic Union is not so much a country as it is a system of unity between anarchist governments around the world, as an act of solidarity.

[Jimzraway]

A man sits alone in a dark leather chair. His face is turned toward the western window of his office, his thoughts pensive and worrisome. The sun begins to crest below the horizon, marking the end of another day in The Proud Republic of Jimzraway. Just earlier this week a deal had been negotiated by the man in the chair and several major powers of the world. Weapons, Ammunition, Vehicles and Aircraft would all flow from Jimzraway to these major powers, all of higher than average quality. But this was not why the man was concerned.

He rose slowly from his chair as the sun dipped closer to the edge of the world. He turned to his desk once the last rays had vanished from the sky, and removed a cigar from the right hand drawer. He cut the end with a golden cigar cutter which had small gemstones glistening by the light of a roaring fire in the hearth, opposite the man's desk. He placed the cigar gently between his lips and flicked open a golden lighter engraved with two letters, "W.K.". They stood for Watcher Kain, the singular head of Jimzraway and her people. He had watched the sun set that night. He knew that once it rose again in the morning, the world was going to become a different place. And by the time it set once more...nothing would ever be the same again.

The Generalissimo watches the New Years fireworks in the City of Rome (Capital of the Roman Republic). The Roman National Police, who patrol the southern part of the country (The communist Suppression Unit patrols the North but still has units in the south), begin setting up boundaries to keep back the crowd of onlookers watching the fireworks.

Two Roman Army soldiers on leave who watch the fireworks, Caesar and Navarre, are having a conversation:

"What do you think of Soviet Ukraine, Navarre?"

"Well, Caesar, all commies can go to hell. All they do is starve people and kill people."

"Do you think we'd ever invade them?"

If they ever crossed into Roman waters, then yes Caesar, we probably would."

"Have you ever fought in a war, Navarre?"

"Why, yes. I have...I am a veteran of the Samoan Conflict. I killed many Laternan soldiers in the name of God and Country. I love this country with all my heart and I am glad to defend its beliefs! The beaches and jungles of Samoa was the first war I have ever fought in. It wasn't easy losing buddies or taking lives, but I would do it any day for this country."

The Northern part of the Roman Republic is patrolled by the Communist Suppression Unit (CSU), since leftism is very popular in Northwestern Europe. The CSU is highly militarized but not heartless or brutal...except when commies start rioting. The punishment for rioting in Rome is death, which is why people in Rome don't riot. Protesting is allowed, however.

Since Catalonia and Aragon are controlled by a Communist country, the CSU has been deployed to the border between Catalonia/Aragon and The Roman Republic. They are acting as a border defense force. May God bless the brave souls of the Communist Suppression Unit.

IC: Rome is actually a Republic with a very slight authoritarian twist. It is a single-party democracy run by the Nationalist Party. The liberals in the Nationalist party want to split from the party, since they are not Nationalists. It is a Fascistic republic.

Rome's military is well-prepared as well and can be for both offensive and defensive purposes. We have an agreement with the WAU not to attack them, so they won't have to worry about us. Rome and the USSR however have border skirmishes. Four of the USSR's troops were killed by a Communist Suppression Unit squad the other day. They allegedly crossed into Rome and were got into a firefight with the CSU. In addition to that, a CSU guard was sniped from afar allegedly by a Soviet sniper yesterday. Rome thanks him for his service and for his sacrifice for this country!

The people of WAU have decided to increase infrastructure and promote the use of green energy in the places of the WAU. Military may also be increased due to threats by external enemies of the revolution.
The people of WAU have increased the number of jobs in order for the increase of mass employement. Moreover, calls have been made from the WAU to hold a meeting with other important leaders of the modern world to decide the fate of the modern and ever-changing world.

Head of State

Rudolph Hunter, Wulfenian Head of State, never imagined himself as the warrior persona. While his father had served in the 1955 Liliputian-Maxtopian War, where he lost the left side of his face along with several limbs, and his grandfather had served in WW2, on the side of the fanatical Hitlerites of the Waffen SS, Rudolph had never dreamed or wanted to become a soldier. The worst day of his childhood was when his father came home from the war, a fierce eyepatch on his left eye, and hideous deformed skin surrounding it.

He broke himself from contemplation after remembering what had brought the memories back. The Wulfenian Navy was requesting more funding and material be purchased and shipped (funny choice of words...) to the defense contractors. The IWN Nightmare Destroyer had recently been produced, and the Navy was becoming firmer in it's request that it be built up more. This was due, in part, to the belief that island status guaranteed it would be naval power that decided the favor of a war should it break out.

"War, what is it good for?" he asked himself, signing more papers. There was a knock at the door, after he granted permission, his secretary came in with a cup of coffee for him. Thanking her, he took the coffee and slowly sipped it while continuing his work.

"Absolutely nothing."

1st we will enlarge the Columbia river locks to allow larger and more efficient ships to transport products from the interior states of our great republic.
2nd we will modernize our port facilities to increase efficiency and safety.
3rd we will modernize our rail network adding both high speed passenger and freight lines
4th we will begin building "green" energy sources such as non-invasive hydro electric, wind, and solar power.
5th we will build additional nuclear power plants as they produce less greenhouse gases
6th we will build more hospitals and medical schools and expand health coverage to true universal health care.
7th we will begin to fund post secondary education programs enabling our lower income families the ability to reach their maximum potential.
8th we will begin another round of modernization programs for the Finnian military, because while all of us wish for peace it is only through our superior military we will continue to have the peace we desire.
