[Draft]Protecting Future Generations

Postby Old Hope » Sun May 03, 2015 11:56 am

In the process of rewriting.

To protect future generations
The World Assembly
mandates member states to forbid the production of anything that is harmful to the environment and not necessary for the survival of present and future generations.

Category:Environmental- All Businesses

Standard format:

Seeing that nations use resources faster than they are being rebuilt, or artificially produce harmful substances as byproducts that alter the living conditions for the short term benefit but with long term catastrophic impacts
To protect present and future generations
The World Assembly
Mandates member states to stop any artificial and permanent or long term overuse of resources or artificial production of such harmful substances
Allows member states to overuse resources or produce harmful substances as long as that is needed to resolve a serious danger to the existance of inhabitants of the affected areas.
Clarifies that if there is no way to stop the overuse of resources or production of harmful substances without killing sapient beings, threatening the existance of the national population, or violating World Assembly resolutions, the least harmful alternative must be used instead

Um. No sense whatsoever? Sorry, but... then I cannot help you, I am afraid. If you would tell me to clarify some parts, then ok, but if you understand nothing... then... are you sure that you understand nothing?

Firstly, your proposal does not follow the accepted standards of a GA resolution. I would highly recommend reading up in the GA rules and guides, which are stickied at the top of the GA forum.

Oi, no need to pick a fight.

All he's trying to say is that this isn't in the correct format and that it's kind of bizzare. Also, your opening message doesn't really make any sense.

What is that supposed to convey.

1. This may not have the standard format, but that is not illegal. It is ok for a resolution not to have the standard format.

Not having the standard format doesn't make it illegal, but it will show that you are more professional for it to look like a list of clauses.

The last time a proposed resolution had not the standard format, there were remarks on how bad and dull the standard format is. If you cannot give me additional reasons for using the standard format, I won't use it.

Also, just as a final message of critisism.

Allow me to sum up what you are saying.

Nations are using too many resources or are creating harmful alternatives, if the desired resouce is unavalible. To protect the future of our people, we must stop over using resources or create alternative resources due t the impact it will have on the enviroment and as a result our people.

I didn't bother with summing up the last paragraph because it read "We, members of the World Assembly, can't overuse resources and no longer have permission to use alternative resources." First off, this clashs with itself constantly. Basicly, If you overuse one resouce you are in violation of this and you cannot create an alternate resource to use because there is a chance that it will have a negative effect on the enviroment which would also put you in violation of this.

You can no longer...

1: Produce items that are made up of man made resources, so nothing that is entirely plasic or rubber such as wire insulation.
2: Use more resources than can be generated. This would make using most metals impossible and fossil fuels such as coal due to the low and slow generation of these resources.

I understand you have written what looks like a letter to the editor. I understand that not using proper format may not make something illegal, however, it does render it virtually incomprehensible. I also understand your best course of action, and what should be your priority for this, would be to read through the guidelines in order to get a better idea of how to present what it is you are trying to do with your draft.

I'll have to look into 1, but 2 is intended. More later(when I have thought on how to adress 1.

In the format that you are currently using makes whatever you're trying to propose here completely comprehensible. Using the approved format makes it easier for people to see and debate certain aspects of the proposal. Leave it in this format and it will probably be ignored and you'll not get any useful feedback.

2 is intended... what the hell is wrong with you!

Imagine what we would be without metals... cavemen. Goddamn Cavemen!

We use metal, wood, and other nature resources for everything. You're better off just saying "we should limit the usage of fossil fuel" but nope. You wanna turn us into a bunch of cavemen. Acnient Greeks had bronze, industialization revolved around steel and iron, even the Ancient Egyptions used sandstone and wood to build the pyramids which one of the major man made wonders of the world.

Even cavemen used wood and stones. The OP either wants to return the world to whatever it was before sentient beings came along and started using natural resources or he's saying we can only use recycled material.

Well no. Recycling would be against the proposal since it would "harm the enviroment" during the process of reconverting the materials. In general, what I'm trying to say is that this proposal will ruin us because the damn thing clashs with itself at every god damn corner.

Clarifies that if there is no way to stop the overuse of resources or production of harmful substances without killing sapient beings, threatening the existance of the national population, or violating World Assembly resolutions, the least harmful alternative must be used instead

So if no one bothers to fin a solution to your proposal we just use primitive eco friendly technology such as the weak windmills, unreliable solar farms, and rare geothermal plants. As well as take advantage of our primitive recycling and make everything out of trash.

So, this basically does nothing. Nations can continue doing what they're doing because stopping would endanger sentient lives. That's good to know.

This proposal basically reads as "let's go back to the stone age and start over".

To the OP: Spoiler your first draft and put it at the bottom, please.
