"Ungh....."
Simon Highcourt slowly opened his dazed eyes. This was not his lovely little flat back in London. This was also not his cousin's house in Melbourne. In fact, Simon had no idea where he was, except it was hot, and he seemed to be covered in a variety of items. Suitcases, duffel bags, small bottles of alcohol. As his eyes adjusted, he realized where he was.
He was lying in the aisle of the first class area of American Airlines flight 278, a Boeing 747-400 aircraft en route from Los Angeles to Sydney. But the plane definitely wasn't in the air. And he wasn't particuarly sure why all this stuff was scattered across the ground. He didn't see anyone else in the first class, so he decided to head into the business class area.
As he moved from the one section of the aircraft to the next, he gasped at the sight he beheld. A large chunk of the left side of the aircraft was torn off; specifically, where the wing of the aircraft was. A warm, tropical air was drifting into the open area of the plane. He approached the large hole and stared out.
The first thing he noticed was that the plane was on a white, sandy beach, which was now scattered with some debris from the aircraft, and even some luggage that had been flung out. The plane was running parallel against the ocean; it seemed like the pilot had attempted to use the strip of beach for landing. From the left hole on the wall he could see the vastness of the ocean, and almost a quarter of a mile away in the water he could see the plane's wing sticking out.
Simon wasn't really sure of what to think of this. He slowly climbed out of the plane through the hole, walked a few paces forward towards the sea, turned around, and stared at the crash-landed aircraft, looking more like a beached sea mammal. The sun had already come up, but was not in the middle of the sky, so he figured it was sometime around eight to nine in the morning.
Simon wondered if there were any other survivors of the crash. If there were, then they could determine what they've gotten into.
But for now, he was alone.
"Well, this is quite the bloody mess."
