The Society
A Futuristic Roleplay.
Someone once said that all men were created equal. That everyone had certain unalienable rights like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That the government would be "ruled by the people, for the people." Well, that was hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Today, the year is 2321. Whatever that government was, well, it doesn't exist now. About three-hundred years ago, the United States of America faced devastating natural events like flooding, earthquakes, and horrible storms that shook the continent. Well...at-least that's what they tell us. Millions of people died, that's for sure. Whatever was left of America's government became The Society. They call it "Utopia". That we're lucky to be here. The Society is divided into 5 districts. The Crowns District, The High Society, The Abundance, The Fresh Gallows, and then The Undesirables. The Crowns District are the rulers of the Society and the richest of all of the Society. Following them is the High Society, which are the second-richest citizens and the smartest of us all. Than there's the Abundance, where most everyone is from. They are mostly average intelligence and middle class citizens. Then there comes the Fresh Gallows, where most people are poor and fairly stupid. Finally, there's the Undesirables. The district is home to most disabled and sick people, along with broke or homeless citizens. Most normal people there disappear and are never found again. When children of the Society reach 13, they are ripped from their families arms and placed into a "Rehabilitation Center." They test them with all sorts of mind-tests, determining how smart they are and what type of leadership they can take on. The tests go on for two years, then when we reach 15, we're released into our desired districts. Those who didn't pass the tests are sent to The Undesirables. Most of us never see them again. When we reach the age of 16, the Society takes the liberty of finding us a "perfect match". Some people don't meet their assigned partner until the wedding, but most are lucky. Usually, you go to classes in the Center together, or lived in the same district. But there are those of us that are most unfortunate. The boys, only the boys, in the Crown District get to choose who they marry. Usually it's because the girl is pretty. They become Trophy Wives, and when the guy doesn't want her anymore, she disappears. No one knows if they are thrown out of the Society, or into the Undesirables. Most girls wish to never find out. Then, the Society chooses which jobs each of us will take on only a week after the matches are married. No one gets a choice, not even the Crowns District. If they're lucky, they can bribe the choosers enough to get into an area they like, but rarely anyone is that rich. Most in the Crown District would take leadership roles, whether it be all of the Society, or the military. That is most everything, and now you must brave yourself through the Society.
