Wiccan discussion thread

Postby The Wolven League » Tue Dec 16, 2014 5:38 pm

Seeing how there are a lot of forum topics for other religions, but none(that I know of) for Wicca, I thought I'd start this :)

Wicca is a neo-pagan religion, and has split into many "denominations and sects". The reason why there are quotation marks is because there has been no official schism of Wicca, unlike Christianity; however belief in what Wicca truly is varies from person to person, and there are probably hundreds-maybe thousands-of 'sects and denominations". But we can pretty generally smoosh these "sects and denominations" into several generalized groups. Wikipedia is not always accurate, but this article should probably give you a good idea of what Wicca is about if you don't know much- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicca

So, what are your Wiccan beliefs? Or are you not even Wiccan and just checking this topic randomly? :p

For anyone wondering, I joined this website during my edgy teenage years. I made a lot of dumb, awkward posts, flip-flopped between various extreme ideologies, and just generally embarrassed myself. I denounce a sizable amount of my past posts. I am no longer active on NationStates and this nation/account is no longer used.

Just a question about the sects of wicca that believe in only the Goddess, if there is nothing other than her, no Horned God, then how could she have gender?
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a genuine workers' state in which all the people are completely liberated from exploitation and oppression. The workers, peasants, soldiers and intellectuals are the true masters of their destiny and are in a unique position to defend their interests.

I disown most of my previous posts

I'm not sure. Dianic Wicca is pretty generally considered heresy by most Wiccans, so I don't know much about it other than it only believes in the Goddess.

Ugh, I really dislike Wiccans. It's very sinful to be a Wiccan.

Well that's a little offensive, if you don't like wiccans then why comment on a forum about them? Thats my question.

Umm... okay then... you can have your theological beliefs, and I can have mine(even though I don't), but please don't put them here.

You say that as if it's possible to know what's sinful. I think you mean "I believe it's very sinful."

I have Wiccan blood. I have a lot of Scottish and Irish and Welsh. Wicca was practiced by some of our ancestors. However, I know that it is somewhat pagan. And I practice Native Circle, Native American religion.

You disappoint me, Murkwood. Clearly the rap sheet of Wicca is virtually non-existent in comparison with the slaughterfests of the more established religions. Even though I'm blessedly irreligious (sic), I give the Wiccans the benefit of the doubt.

I think we've corrupted the use of the word "magic." For Wiccans, I suspect, it serves the same purpose as "ritual" in other religions, far from paltry stage magic.

Where the ex-Wiccan option?
I considered myself Wiccan for several years until I realized I've been a materialist as long as I can remember (since the age of 6-7) and that it was impossible to reconcile what I actually believed with what I thought I believed.
