Servik - "The Breaking Point"
1425 Hours
106th Caujan Vabatahtlike Pataljon 'Prospects', 3rd Company, 1st Platoon, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Team, Private First Class Caneris Sitriys
The small city of Servik was a city mostly made up of Lollohians who jumped the border into Cauja to escape the war that had ravaged Lolloh for at least a decade. Due to the recent ethnic Lollohian activities in the past 5 years of Cauja's existence, there had been multiple ethnic militant groups that had risen up around Cauja, the most deadly one being the PPL. Now, the placeholder for the PPL was the FLL or Forza di Liberazione Lollohian. The 106th, battle hardened from previous battles with the LLEL, had now been deployed to the city of Servik, nicknamed the Breaking Point for its high crime rate and lack of law enforcement like any other ethnic Lollohian city. Military units constantly patrol Servik in constant fear of an ambush. However, since the FLL was mostly passive, the patrol today was expected to go smoothly as usual.
Inside of the HYENA All-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicle, Sitriys sat holding his G36C beside his team leader, Corporal Osik Geritiv, and automatic rifleman, Seders Mercosvik. One of the men in the HYENA stood up, a tall 25-year old officer who seemed to be fresh out of the Fort Yeals Officer Academy in Ontorisa.
"Boys, listen up." The officer announced over the dim chatter of the troops. "For those who don't remember, I'm Sergeant First Class Perbos Sadetyad, and currently, if you're thick, we're patrolling the Breaking Point."
Sadetyad looked around before looking outside the back of the HYENA where another HYENA was.
"We're to dismount at Estivik Avenue and check up on civilians here. Remember, you only engage if you are fired on. FLL in this area is practically terrified of going toe to toe with us." Sadetyad, while saying this was moving the receiver of his G36 back and forth. "You are to seize any illegal firearms found here, however. Take it by force if you need to, yet let's avoid killing any civilians. Ethnics may be Lollohians, but they're our Lollohians and we will defend them even if they resist us try-"
Then it all happened so quickly. The MRAP Cougar in front of the HYENA exploded as a rocket hit it in the front as gunfire erupted from the buildings from each side. The HYENA Sitriys was sitting in was raked by bullets, most of them not hitting any of the soldiers, yet Sadetyad was struck and crumpled.
"Out! Get the fuck out!" Someone screamed as the HYENA stopped and the CK soldiers jumped out.
The street had effectively turned into a war zone as a pickup truck with a PK attached to it had pulled in front of the HYENA blocking it off from escaping and raked the driver and the front passenger killing them both instantly. The rest of the soldiers scrambled for cover.
"This is Hurricane 1-2, we are under heavy fire from unknown contacts. We have sustained multiple casualties and have a victor down. Advise over!" The acting squadron leader sat beside Sitriys called into his radio. "Our actual is down, unconfirmed if he's still alive."
"Sitriys!" Sitriys turned his head over to Geritiv, who was crouching behind a mailbox. "Sitriys! Contacts in that building to your North-East!"
Sitriys looked over at a 2-story apartment building that had multiple bullet holes in it already. He raised his G36C and started firing at the building before he heard the glorious sound of an MG3. The trigger gave multiple times as a cloud of dust erupted from the building, the CK soldiers screaming orders over the gunfire. In return, Sitriys could hear a couple of men's voices ordering in Italian.
Italian? Sitriys thought as he ducked behind a blue Honda Civic and reloaded his G36C. Who the hell speaks Italian here?
"Someone get on fucking comms and tell CAUCOM we have another god damn rebellion!" A soldier yelled out before a smoke grenade went off.
Sitriys looked over, panicking as he realized a few of the friends he had made ever since he had enlisted, were dead. Dead. Jesus Christ, Kilja, Geksla, Mernivik, they're dead.
"Sitriys!" Someone screamed. "Get your head in the situation!"
Sitriys, recovering from his trance realized that the CK troops were slowly pulling back down the street as it appeared more and more armed men began flooding down the street. Lifting his rifle, Sitriys began firing at the men, dropping two before falling back behind a parked car on the side of the road. He then peered over again and started firing, keeping the pressure up as a few CK soldiers continued to fight back while the rest fell back to more secure positions.
"Hurricane 6! This is Hurricane 1! We are falling back from Hoska Boulevard! Be advised, confirmed that the FLL has risen up!" The radio in Sitriys' helmet buzzed as Sitriys fell back behind a building, followed by the ragtag group of CK soldiers who had made a stand with him.
They ran down the alleyway, checking their corners and rooftops, alone and lost.
Background
The Free State of Cauja, formerly the Free State of Ålyask, was established by Rombergian forces during the Ruolnik-Lolloh Wars. Subject to a massive immigration of ethnic Ontorisans fleeing Lollohian prosecutions, the state also received moderate amounts of Lollohian civilians looking for a new life, deserters and the radical Lollohians looking to force Cauja back into Lolloh. Due to this, there has been an incredible amount of tension between the Ethnic Ontorisans & Caujans versus the Lollohians. This caused a massive irregular war between the Free State of Cauja, Caujan/Ethnic Ontorisan militia groups and the Lollohian insurgency groups. While Cauja has managed to barely counter these powerful insurgency groups, the FLL has been the most powerful, promising that Cauja will become an autonomous state of Lolloh, allowing them to continue their politics but to relieve the tension between the two countries. Regardless, the CK, the Caujan military, continues to combat these insurgents. Now, the FLL has turned from political protest/inactive insurgent group to an active threat to Caujan sovereignty, preparing to force the annexation of Cauja. Cauja, still weakened from the bloody conflict that took place on its soil long ago, now struggles to prevent this massive onslaught of insurgents. Servik, Friyvik and Clakistra, all of these cities with a numerous amount of ethnic Lollohians face constant warfare as the FLL and CK battle it out. Foreign nations stand idly by, waiting either to support the Caujan government, the FLL, to take Cauja for themselves or to continue to remain neutral and watch from afar.
