Hayabusan-Cydonian Border
40 Meters Inside Hayabusa's Sovereign Territory
Town of Visterham
7:27 PM West Hayabusan Standard
PFC Reed Canterson, a scout within the Hayabusan Royal Army, was talking with some townspeople on the Hayabusan side of the town. The other side, the Cydonian part, was completely and absolutely different. When the two separate entities attempted to host a football match together, the game got so intense that a horrible total of 3 legs were intentially broken, and words between the players and their parents were quite expressive, and the Hayabusan Royal Army had to escort the players and families out of the game, as did the Cydonian Army to their fellow countrymen. The worst part? It was only a 14-15 year old game. Hayabusans and Cydonians - they tended to hate each other, put simply. If you thought about it, to one side you had country A, and on the other side was country B - country A's polar opposite. It was almost impossible to avoid governmental and societal tensions between the two people. However, there were many peace activists united from both sides of the border, fighting relentlessly for peace between Hayabusa and Cydonia, getting in the way of Hayabusan BMPs, cutting off access to bridges, and swarming in front of buildings to convey their message. But most of the time, they were cleared out by a battalion of armoured personnel, as it was the only way they would leave and quit being a disturbance to the military and what it was supposed to do. The Hayabusan royal family and the Cydonian government simply could not find middle ground, no matter what efforts were taken and how extensively thought out the diplomatic plans were; they always found themselves in a "one side versus the other" type situation.
The young PFC Canterman had just bought a coffee from the local Starbucks, slinging his rifle for once and enjoying a nice, sweet coffee. It was a little odd to be drinking coffee late in the afternoon, but it had been kind of a relaxing routine for him for the last few months. Every day, he would come in to the shop in full uniform, and relax himself a bit over a warm cup of coffee. It wasn't like anything happened along the border - it was mainly just people looking at each other through binoculars and the occasional staredown between 2 adrenaline hunters on either side of the border. Besides, it was cold in Visterham, and one can only go so long being outside, holding a freezing plastic L85 and wearing the full combat uniform, which eventually did get cold after a while. You would often see Hayabusan soldiers wearing sweatshirts instead of their gear, but that was only the lazy ones who were under the loose command of Lieutenant Wilkins. He was walking out of the Starbucks and back out onto the street when he turned right, and saw something that made him drop his coffee. A Cydonian APC surrounded by at least 2 squads of infantry. People screamed and immediately began clearing the area, heading farther back into the town and deeper inside Hayabusa. Reed managed to blend in with the crowd, his smaller stature givng him an advantage. He looked back and he couldn't see much, but he could hear the APC moving and the infantry shouting through the screams of the crowd. Finally, he slipped into a old looking building, occupied by the rest of his battalion. The building was on the corner of a row of connected shops along the street, giving them a view of all four streets in the center that branched off in each direction, and also maintaining cover on their backs as well.
With his L85 unslung now, he practically smashed down the door to the large and open living space, which was serving as the command and coordination center for the battalion, and was filled with Hayabusan soldiers and technology in full gear, talking about random things to get themselves distracted from their true situation - they were stuck in a cold, restless, and intense border town and the only excitement they had in life at the moment was playing football in the parks and on their mobile devices. "There is a Cydonian APC and a whole lot of infantry right around the fucking corner. What the fuck do we do, sergeant?"
The sergeant dropped his tablet, pausing his FIFA game and running out to the main room of the house, followed by all of the rest of the battalion, who did the same and grabbed their weapons and ammunition. "Behind this crowd here, they are closing fast. They are fully armed and clearly ready for combat. I saw them aiming forward and checking windows. Quickly sir, what do we do!?"
"Alright, alright lad calm the fuck down, first off. Everyone take deep breaths, ok? We've trained for this for months upon months, don't break on me now. Now, protocol is we neutralize any threat that comes from that side of the border to this side - that is what we are going to have to do. I need a Carl Gustav up on roof, along with 2 other's to escort it and fire down upon them. 3, including me, will stay and guard the front entrance, they might be checking and clearing buildings as they progress. Canterson and 2 others - you three go down to the pillbox underground. Don't raise it until the obviously rapid footsteps above you cease. I want GPMG fire on those guys as fast as possible. I want them forces into retreat. The last 3 fall back, you're our last line if this shit goes awry. Who wants to be last line?"
Three men quickly ran out of the house and into the crowd, going along with the tide until they hit a small slit trench slightly farther back from their position, equipped with track-jammers and a now outdated CIS Ultimax, which was still used widely as the Hayabusan Royal Army was still going through the process of swapping out all of the machine guns for the newer and better MG3s.
3 other men grabbed the large rocket launcher and lumbered up the stairs, opening the door that lead to the rooftop of the connected buildings, their only cover being a small concrete slab that ran along the side of each building - so small that they had to lay down and crawl into position to remain hidden and in complete cover.
And while the sergeant and 2 others quickly got into position to defend the frontal entrances, Reed Canterman stormed into the basement and into a small elevator (or what seemed like one). He closed the door as footsteps from the overhead crowd causing the concrete roof to rain down some little pebbles on his helmet. Inside, there was a stand and a gun station, with an MG-3 pointing in an iutward direction with three 250-round belts of ammo, mounted upon a wooden stand which had more belts in it as well. There was a button on the side which would raise the small pillbox so that the ground would be slightly raised and a slit would appear in the middle of the road, and from that slit would come the menacing sound and destruction of the MG-3 general purpose machine gun that resided in the little box. He took a deep breath, and prayed as the rumbling footsteps ahead stopped, and the sound of the APC neared. He pressed the button on the side, and very quickly, the box lurched up from underground, the slit appearing in front of the approaching Cydonian units. He had gotten it up just in time so that he could see the body frames of the Cydonians as they approached, not just their legs, which is what he had feared.
"FIRE THE GUSTAV, NOW! EVERYONE ON THE ROOF AND IN THE PILLBOX, OPEN FIRE!"
An AT round came crashing down from above onto the APC, a plume of smoke being sent in all directions as the round impacted its target. Canterson opened fire in bursts with his MG-3, methodically cutting down the Cydonian soldiers accurately and precisely, trying to put at least 3 bullets in each of them as he aimed and fired at his specific targets. From above, the constant pops of single bullets from L85A2 standard assault rifles rained down upon the infantry.
(OOC: Cyd, you RP your units from this point on. You will be the aggressor on this one, I'll be the aggressor against Colum - just to balance it out. I didn't want to be the aggressor on both. If you are not ok with this, just hit me with a TG and I'll gladly redo this portion of the post :])
Hayabusan-Columite Border
Crossing From Hayabusa to Columbion
Town of Wellmoore
7:57 Hayabusan Standard
A Challenger II MBT, followed by 2 BMP-3 APCs sped down a large road slightly inside the Hayabusan border. The 2 BMP-3s suddenly sped ahead of the Challenger and simply opened fire on a Columite sandbag position that lay in front of them, stopped, and released 12 Hayabusan soldiers each, who rushed quickly into cover and began methodically advancing across the border and into Columbion's sovereign territory. Almost immediately, the Columites began deploying smokescreens on the vehicles and opening fire with assault rifles and machine guns upon the general positions of the Hayabusan soldiers as they traveled from piece of cover to piece of cover as they advanced.
"Guardian 1-1, do you have a visual on any enemy activity? Myself and Guardian 1-3 are watching the ahead to cover our ground guys, but we cant see shit now. We do not have FLIR. What do you suppose we do here?"
"Guardian 1-2 and 1-3, pull back and move along the either side. There should be streets there. I want you to try to punch a hole in the flanks so we can move some more ground guys up there. I'm sick of these Columite bastards taunting us and throwing shit across the border. Give them hell, don't stop until we have complete control of this town. We'll cover these guys as they advance. We've got FLIR."
"Acknowledged, moving around to the flanks now."
The two BMPs moved back as the Challenger II's spotter activated the FLIR capabilites within the tank.
"I've got at least 4 in the buildings straight ahead. There is a machine gunner sitting in a car covered by the smoke as well... and there's a whole lot on the rooftops. Suggestions?"
The commander spoke up.
"Fire the coaxial .50 on the rooftops, keep those fuckers pinned down. They might have anti tank weapons as well, so make sure you keep them the fuck down. Not only do they pose a risk to the guys in front of us, they pose a risk to us. Get some L30 rounds on the building straight ahead. There's four visible but they are probably swarming deeper inside it. That gunner you were talking about just got shot by one of our guys... thats taken care of."
"L30 is loaded and ready to fire. I've got two more rounds on deck. Coaxial is primed. Someone else will have to man the coaxial while myself and Bill operate the L30."
"I've got it," said the Commander as he crouched across the tank and used the aiming lens to fire at the rooftops, a loud rumble echoing through the tank as he let off round after round from the barrel of the heavy machine gun.
"Main gun is aimed at the frontal building, fire when ready," said the spotter.
"Main round out in 3...2..."
The tank lurched backwards as the powerful and heavy 120mm L30 A1 main gun pumped a round into the building that lay in front of the tank and had a critical view of the street in front of it, which the Hayabusan soldiers were using to advance slowly. If that wasn't suppressed, the attack would be thwarted, or it would be successful but with heavy casualties. The coaxial gun continued to fire at the above infantry as the L30 operators reloaded and prepared to fire another round.
Wellermoore should not have even been classified as a town at this point. There was less than 100 actual civilians living there, but other than that it was just a shanty town along the border with old infrastructure and swarming with both Hayabusan and Columite soldiers. There were no active shops, only closed down and destroyed ones that were now used as housing for the Hayabusan troops there. The advantage that it did have was lots of high ground opportunities. There were 5-7 floor apartment buildings everywhere, and there werrt also wide roads to allow for the passing of vehicles, even big ones like ye olde Challenger II. It was the ideal urban warfare zone - a soldier's nightmare. Anyone could be killed at any time considering all of the positions that could be taken up and used to inflict damage upon the enemy. If the Hayabusan Royal Army got complete control over Wellermoore, they would allow for mining operations to commence in the region. Wellermoore lay on a pocket of diamonds, and is claimed by both Hayabusa and Columbion - a battle for the riches of Wellermoore was destined to happen sooner or later. It was rumoured that there were enough diamonds there to equate to 25,000,000 NSD, which could be used for anything to either country's benefit.
(OOC: Colum, you RP your defense to this. Again, if you have any problems with my attack, please TG me and I'll happily edit it.)
Edenguard, Hayabusa
Capital District
Palace of Edenguard
8:11 PM Hayabusan Standard
"And then I said to the TUM ambassador, WATCH OUT, YOU MIGHT GET HIT IN THE BUM OF YOU VENTURE ANY FURTHER! She proceeded to get closer to our archive room, and I kicked a football at his bum!" Everyone near the man burst out laughing as a Lord Ambassador told the story about his encounter with one of TUM's female ambassadors that went all the way from her country to the GK to get kicked in the bum. There was a little ball going on in the main, open room of the first floor in the Palace of Edenguard, a slight distraction for all of Hayabusa's nobility to join together, feast, and enjoy themselves instead of competing for more wealth ad they usually do. Except for the King and the Queen. Although they were actually enjoying themselves, dancing and talking with Lord Francis about the recent construction of a stadium for the new Edenguard FC. But the attack on Columbion was present in their minds, and they were in for a surprise, knowing that Cydonia had recently sent units inside Hayabusa.
"It did not end so well. Diplomacy between our two nations ceased for a week, and I was forced to apologise afterwards."
"Lord Cail, while are you always acting like such a delinquent?" Someone piped up through tears of laughter and drunk hysteria after hearing what he had to say. A good lot of them were slightly tipsy at this point.
"Why... I'm only 57!" More drunken laughter from everyone around him.
"Funny guy, Lord Cail," the King said as he sat down on his throne next to the Queen. "I've just got word from one of my messengers here. The attack to control Wellermoore is proceeding, and satellite view shows it going pretty well. According to General Bob Spice, we're punching through thr middle with tanks and infantry and coming around the sides with BMPs. This should go swiftly."
"What a lovely night," the Queen said as she smiled. "Any other good news I should be informed of?"
"Ehh... it's news. There is a firefight going on in Visterham right now between our and Cydonia's units."
"What in he- Cydonia!?"
"Yes... we dont yet know if they made a mistake or if they purposefully ventured across the border in an act of aggression. Either way, we may or may not have just entered a state of war with the Cydonian Union."
"Contact our Currentean allies. Bratislav, Carloso, Zernovyl, Drusselbaden, they should all at least know whats going on. We might be able to pry out some support from them as well. Also, we need to keep this off the charts for now. HBC can't know."
"You spoke exactly what I was thinking. I'll send an encrypted email from my Android right here so itddoesn't look concerning to the other nobles. I wouldn't want to ruin their night for them."
The King pulled out his Android from his pocket and began texting away.

Hello, respective leaders. Most of you know about the attacks on Wellermoore, the border town between us and Columbion, that we have been planning for a while so we can claim the diamonds and use them to our and your benefit. The first stages of that attack are commencing now, and are reportedly going smoothly. However, that is not my main concern. My main concern (and the reason why I am sending this to you) is a Cydonian aggressive move in the border town of Visterham. There is a firefight going on between Hayabusan and Cydonian soldiers right now, and it is reported that the Cydonian units ventured across the border and into Hayabusa. Is this a mistake or the start of a massibe conflict? We are also concerned with what Columbion might do in retaliation to our attacks at Wellermoore. I formally request economic and military support from all of your nations. Together as an alliance, we already know that we can destroy any opposition, and achieve anything that we set our minds to. The most critical point here lands on the nation of Bratislav. Bratislav has a border with Cydonia. It would be greatly to our benefit if you utilized that and opened up a second front if worst comes to worst and these firefights evolve into a full scale war. As for the rest, I request that you send what you can to give us some support right now, as the situation as it stands is highly unstable. Esteemed allies, I thank you greatly for taking the time to read this message.
