London, 1919

The Year of Our Lord nineteen-nineteen. The British Empire is still recovering from the aftermath of the Great War, along with the other European powers. The young generation has been made old with the horrors of war, and many seek a release from their now mundane lives. Exotic music and dancing has swept the city of London, and cocaine fueled parties last for days at a time. The cities Police struggle against rising political factions - communist gatherings are becoming increasingly popular on the cities docks and heavy industries, while semi-legitimate gangsters who forged their empires in the war run rampant in every corner of the city.

Will you make your fortune, build your Empire? Or are you cut of a finer stone, and dead set on riding His Majesty's great city of the vile cut-throat industry?

OOC

This RP will be set in the city of London in the year 1919, if that wasn't already abundantly clear. You may take the role of a police officer, politician, prostitute or orphan boy, just make sure you can get yourself involved in the story somehow. This will be for the most part a sandbox RP, and your story is your own to create. However, keep in mind that the focus of this Roleplay will be the criminal underworld of the time.

Rules
1. Standard NS RP rules apply, no godmodding, no metagaming etc etc
2. All posts must be at least two paragraphs long, and each paragraph at least five sentences.
3. Keep your posts in the time setting.
4. I reserve the right to do what I want, and more rules will probably follow

Registered Businesses

Business Name: The Black Swan
Year Founded: 1882
Location: Holborn
Products/Services: A bar/tavern
Employees: George Bourke (Owner), Thomas Kelly (Barman), 4 other staff
Business Background: The Black Swan was created in 1882 by Harry Bourke, a wealthy Irish Protestant immigrant who came to London two years prior. The Black Swan was just one of five businesses Mr. Bourke established in the city but in his old age he had sold most of those off. Upon his death in 1904, his only son and heir inherited the last remaining business along with the remainder of the accumulated cash.

Since then, George has run the business fairly modestly. He has only a slight drinking problem, but he pays protection to a local gang of thugs -mostly unemployed Irishmen - so he is largely left to his own.
