Star Patrol: The Woes of Mars (Sign-up & mild building)

Premise: A retro science fiction RP set on Mars in the late 21st Century during an era of atomic rockets, heat rays, and alliance between the worlds of the Sol System. Players will be members of a five person team of SSASP (Sol System Alliance Star Patrol) personnel sent to Mars to deal with ever continuing struggles that define the world. This RP will be the first 'campaign' of a series, which upon achieving a climax, and resolution will be followed up by another Star Patrol adventure.

==Earthling (Pure Human)==
Earthlings are pure humans from the mother world of Gaia, which they refer to as Earth. Earth is the seat of the Sol System Alliance, having re-established contact with it's colonies after a period of internal conflict which left the world cut off from her holdings for decades. After this period Earth attempted to regain control of her holdings by diplomacy, and force. Leading to the Earth man-Martian Conflict of 2022. It was at the end of this conflict, and the arrival of the cruel Gatagans that the worlds of the Sol system began working together, eventually forming the SSA.

==Martian Human==
The Humans of Mars are a fiercely independent folk who live by a personal code.

==Plutonians== (0/2 taken)
Plutonians are the inhabitants of Pluto, they appear human though their skin ranges from a pale white to a dark blue. They have a high resistance to the cold, and an equal sensitivity to heat. They are descended from the scientists of a research colony. Their ancestors infused themselves with a kind of STV that modified the genetic make up of their offspring, allowing them to better survive the sever temperatures of Pluto. This was done during the Time of Silence when Earth suddenly stopped transmitting, and sending shipments to the Plutonian colony forcing the administration to seek self sufficiency. By the time contact was re-established, the population had already been completely converted to something near human.

==Red Martians== (0/1 taken)
A strange, and mysterious red-skinned race of humanoids who roam as free tribes whose skin allows them to more easily blend in with their native environment. Alternatively they live as traditional slaves to the Tentacled Martians. They use to have a rather rich culture, and a few bits of their civilization have been uncovered, and survive. It was comparable to that of Ancient Egypt, and Persia. Martian skin is highly resistant to thermal radiation, and in association, heat.

==Venusian==

Venus was an agricultural colony that provided Earth with various food stuff before the Time of Silence. Venus was primarily a soviet colony, which had been populated chiefly by single mothers, and excess females from motherland. This lead to most positions in the colony being handled by woman, who continue to out populate the men. It's been terraformed into a kind of second Earth, which due to it's hot springs, and wondrous beaches has become a a kind of recreational planet. Venusians typically have some affinity for nature, and knowledge of agriculture.

==CYLAX (Android)==
The CYLAX A.I. units are identical to humans, and where built as servants, laborers, and entertainers on Earth before a movement of superiority sprung up, resulting in a rebellion that contributed to the Time of Silence. While not all CYLAX where part of the rebellion, the units where recalled as being unsafe for the consumer market. During the gathering up, and deactivation of their kind, a group of CYLAX stole some rockets, and fled to the stars where they went into hiding. Since then the construction of units like the CYLAX has been outlawed on Earth.

==Gatagans==

Gatagans are a race of Mongolian like warriors who invaded the Sol system in 2028.

==Tentacled Martians==
The Tentacled Martians where a primary race of Mars back when it had more oceans. The Tentacled Martians are highly intelligent, and due to their lack of a Humanoid form do not connect well with Humanoids, treating them as animals, or slaves; over all, as lesser beings.

Worlds of the Sol System Alliance

==Earth==
Earth is a federal republic presided over by the President of Earth. Each nation is a member of the federation with Greater China, the North Asian Union, the United States of America, and the European Union as prominent members. The current government of Earth rose after the Time of Silence, or as the Earthlings call it, the Great Turmoil. The United People of Earth is a constitutional republic abiding by a set of human rights drawn from the combination of similar documents from across the globe. Earthlings are rather proud of their liberties. Despite a preference for Free Market politics, the Robotics industry has been severely restricted following the 'CYLAX Scare' in which android supremacists had began a war for dominance. Since that time the production of Androids of such a human like caliber has been outlawed.

==Mars==
Mars is a warm planet of plateaus, savanahs, and deserts that are rich in valuable ore. It's inhabited by Humans, Red Martians, and tentacled beings who view all humanoids as lesser life forms. Mars had to deal with conflicts between the Red, and Tentacled Martians, and between the natives and colonists even before the Time of Silence. It remains a rather untamed world yet managed to resist Earthling attempts to reclaim the world as a colonial holding. Mars has remained free, ununified, but free. Martians are a fiercely independent people, and have resisted all attempts at control of the Planet. Mars produced some of the bravest, or reckless fighters to resist the Gatagan invasion of the system in 2028.

==Pluto==
Pluto is a world of artic tundras, and frozen seas, beneath which dwell alien sea life. A colony was established to study this life, and to act as an observatory to gaze beyond our solar system. This research colony faced near disaster during the Time of Silence, when Earth was experiencing the Great Turmoil; and had lost contact with her colonies. Pluto did not receive it's regular supply shipment, and it soon became obvious that no aid was coming. Fear began to circulate over what might have happened to Earth, and the colony had to seek ways to survive with out Earth's aid. They began cultivating sea plants, and the native aquatic creatures. Even though the nuclear generator could sustain them, they realized that at some point they'd have to not only deal with the waste, but also would run out of Uranium, thus they turned to wind, and current power, harnessing the arctic winds, and the deep sea currents to power their community.

The most radical adaptation however, was to themselves. Infecting themselves with a STV (Sexually Transmitted Virus) that altered the DNA of their offspring, the original scientist gave rise to the Plutonian race of blue skinned people able to withstand the freezing waters, and winds of their native planet. Earth eventually did return to Pluto, believing the colony to have died years ago, only to be met with the genetically altered descendants of the original colonist who where weary of the Earthmen.

Pluto is governed by a council of elected representatives of the nine tribes, each tribe descended from one of the nine families that had formed during the Time of Silence.

==Venus==
Venus was originally colonized by the to Soviet Union as an agricultural colony populated chiefly by single mothers. It's been terraformed into a kind of 2nd Earth, and has become a form of recreation planet. Woman continue to outnumber men, and it's planetary government; while having moved away from some soviet policies, is a Socialist Republic providing free education, and healthcare to all citizens. It's services, and scenery attract individuals from all walks of life.

Chapter 1: Red Hands of Mars - Members of the Xerxes Tribe of Red Martians have stolen armaments from the planetary militia, such raids have been going on for months now as if the tribe is preparing for some grand offensive. With their targets unknown, and the militia unable to locate them, it's up to Star Patrol to recover the arms before they can be put to use, if they haven't already.

The Cylax potentially, they're banned from earth but this isn't specified for other places, actually they could be currently claming Neptune or one of the gas giant moons, which potentially could have human colonies on them, there should also be a asteroid belt mining colony. The Reds would be a really rare thing from what I have read so highly reserved (in other words only one), and likely at least two or three of the crew should be Terran, Martian (human) or Venusia.
I'd go with max of 1 Red, 1 Cylax, 2 Plutonians, and unlimited of Terran, Martian (human) or Venusia.

Also I'm presuming that there's plenty of cybernetics and bionic limbs.

Considering how advanced Robotic where prior to the ban, I'd assume cybernetic, and bionic limbs would be avaliable for civil use

You have made fine suggestions concerning the Cylax, and Red Martians as well as some crew limits. We probably should only have one Red Martian at most in the crew, one Cylax, and two Plutonians. I shall go with your suggestion concerning crew limits as it makes a lot of sense. I'll have to take a little longer however to consider the world claimed by the Cylax, however you are correct in that their statis on worlds other then Earth has not been specified.

I don't like the picture, seems not quite retro enough, I'd prefer finding something that's more of a mix between C3PO, The Rocketeer and the above linked picture. I'd like something with a head fin (like the Rocketeer's helmet, however without it being elongated out very far) and over all simplicity in hull design, if you were to strip down the pic above to just the robot remove the entenas on the sides than it would be fairly good, I mostly just don't like the weapons it has for this RP.

I my self see the Cylax as externally appearing human, having been inspired by Metropolis (the original silent production), some episodes of ST:TOS, and a film whose name eludes me but involved a group of Earthlings finding themselves on a planet of androids apparently built by one man. The plot twist in that one is that the creator himself is an android, with intent to convert the new comers into perfect machines. I can't remember what it's called though, it was in black and white.

It's alright, I forgot that in the literal sense Android means a robot created in the image of man, and can extend to any form of human like robot. For example, C-3PO could be referred to as an android, being a robot made in the image of man.
