NationStatesZ Question

Postby Norse German Federation » Fri Oct 31, 2014 1:27 am

Arr all countries going to be permanently effected, even after the event, from de-population, etc. or is this just for fun? Whereas its effects are only temporary. I'm only worried because I had 1.2b population and I'm worried my nation may be deleted as a result of having no population or it may reduce to like 50m

It is my understanding that nothing in this zombie event is permanent.

No, it's only temporary, population goes back to normal at the end, though it's still annoying having deaths written in great big letters on your page for 2 days XD

No, in 25 hours, the normal game will resume and the "zombie apocalypse" will be over without a trace.

I'm going to stop the zombie game. I went to The Hill. When the hourly update occurred, not only was all progress erased, but all record of progress was erased. The Cutest Bunnies, for example, was built up to over 2,500,000,000 survivors. With the update, it went down to 1,500,000,000 survivors, and the history graph showed the survivor rate was never above 2,000,000,000.
Sparking Wine, every hour had more survivors than Zombies. After the updates, the numbers would revert, and the history would show Zombies always outnumbered survivors.

If I'm going to waste a night's sleep, I want the game to play fair. I'll see if this is fixed tomorrow, but I'm disappointed. Last year was fun, this isn't fun at all. :(

It's all about working with your region. Your best bet is to research a cure but you can't give yourself that cure, someone else needs to cure you. So this whole thing works best when you work with others. Infection rates are also influenced by your region. The more pervasive the zombie hordes are in your region, the quicker the infection will spread.

Besides, tis all in good fun! It's not meant to be taken too seriously. :)

There is definitely a flaw in the algorithm. Three times over the last 3 hours, I've had more survivors than zombies, but that isn't recorded anywhere in my history. On the hourly update, I revert back to stats from an hour before, as do the other nations in The Hill. There is no record in the history of any advances. This is a technical problem, not lack of play.

There is no technical flaw. Every hour the game calculates how many extra people were infected, and updates the graph accordingly. Only that last data point is kept (one per hour), it's not a graph showing minute-by-minute progress.

What this means is that your efforts to stem the zombie apocalypse are only barely enough to keep up with the infection. The key is indeed, as others point out, to work together with your region mates. If there's not enough participation to save your region (or too many are actively working to assist the zombies) then your region is lost to the zombies.

As has always been the case in NS, the way to get things done is cooperation.
