Police who investigated the "modern day slavery" case of a vulnerable man found working unpaid on a farm say they are looking for other missing men.
David Daniel Doran, 42, was jailed for four-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to making Darrell Simester perform forced or compulsory labour.
The discovery of Mr Simester, who was forced to work for 13 years, sparked a wider inquiry around Cardiff.
So yes, he held this guy and forced him to work as basically a slave for 13 years and he gets... 4 and a half years in prison? I don't usually like to jump on the bandwagon of PC gone mad tough on crime but come the fuck on seriously? Is this what it feels to be a Daily Mail reader, except every day? At the very least he should get an ironic 13 years in prison. It's also estimated than even though he would probably have only got minimum wage he still made £800,000-£1,000,000 from not paying him, so maybe he should cough some of that up.
I suppose this also serves as a reminder to everyone that thinks slavery doesn't happen anymore, especially not in their own country, that nope it still happens. Just incase you forgot. And now the police are officially looking into the fun matter of how many other people that have gone missing are locked up in some farmhouse or brothel.
My official OPinion for moderation purposes: Slavery is bad. He needs to go jail longer and probably compensate the guy. Also we need to look for more people but I'm not entirely sure how to do that.
