Please, don't do another Zombie event, do something original

I have read up on some stories and info from the last two zombie apocalypse events, and since Halloween is coming up, I can't stand to have my nation's population be destroyed by the most unoriginal horror thing ever. And this might just be my opinion, but I think Zombies are done to death, stupid, and ridiculously unrealistic even for a horror thing. Which is why I ask, please do something else for a Halloween event. People should suggest what they think they should do, besides a zombie apocalypse. Because here is the truth, it's not interesting.

Here are some ideas relating (a little) to Halloween that we could use:

1) Same thing that caused the Irish Potato Famine infects global pumpkin population on Halloween. Kind of a bad idea in my opinion, but better than Zombies.

2) Temporary global fallout. This could be divided into multiple ideas:
A) Nuclear winter. A nuclear winter is caused and the world is plunged into a temporarily freezing fallout.
B) Nuclear wasteland. Instead of a winter, the world is temporarily turned into a dry wasteland.
C) A nuclear gooey radioactive hell. The world is plunged into a nuclear world filled with radioactive sludge lakes, radiation in the air, and other radioactive gasses.

3) The environmentalists were right! Global oil shortages and other environmental dangers plunge the world into a Greenhouse gas polluted world with a huge hole in the Ozone layer, where people can barely breathe.

These are just some ideas that would be better than the same old Zombie Apocalypse that only 10% of the Global population survives. Suggest your own!
