*This telegram has been sent out by the Government of Morrellia, following the recent massing of Prince Alexander IVs forces on the borders of Morrellia*

A Plea To All Free Nations

Image

We, the free peoples of the Republic of Morrellia, send out a plea for aid to all free nations of the world. We have recently come under attack from the forces of Prince Alexander IV of Magnus Alexandria, and we are facing a military force that we cannot hope to weather on our own. We ask any nations who are willing to help us, to send troops to assist in the defense of our homeland from these tyrannical invaders. If we do not receive aid, we will surely be overrun by our enemies.

Humbly,
The Government of The Republic of Morrellia

TELEGRAM
FROM: PRINCE ALEXANDER IV, HOLDER OF THE ROYAL TITLES OF BARSOVICH, DUKE OF VALENCIA
TO: Republic of Morellia
SENT: 0300 HOURS 28/09/2014

Image

Reads: Whomever it may concern: the sovereignty of the Republic of Morellia is in question. Lands that it claims as its own are found to be the rightful possession of the Count Yerman. His Dukedom contains parts of your country. Evidence for this can be provided by over 100 years worth of records detailing his family tree and their rightful possession of these lands. Military forces are now being moved to secure the areas not technically under your sovereignty. Any attempts to impede our progress from your military will result in a declaration of war.

Regards,

Alexander IV

TELEGRAM
FROM: PRINCE ALEXANDER IV, HOLDER OF THE ROYAL TITLES OF BARSOVICH, DUKE OF VALENCIA
TO: Republic of Morellia
SENT: 0500 HOURS 28/09/2014

Image

Reads: In consequence to attempts of resistance, the Dukedom of Valencia officially declares war on the Republic of Morellia.

Regards,

Alexander IV

The Duke's troops entered Morellia at 0300 hours; the XI, XII and XIII armies all participated in the push. The 11th, 12th and 13th Mechanised Divsions spearheaded the attack, accompanied by the 200th, 202nd and 204th Infantry Divisions, all together 175,000 soldiers. Zeppelins from bases in Magnus Alexandria began to fly through Rogue Nation of Barsovich's airspace after receiving persmission, and entered Morellian airspace at 0340, systematically bombing key military bases and deployment areas in an attempt to hinder Morellian forces from coordinating a cohesive counter attack.

Under which institutions and which men have the Italian republics shone? Which which sovereigns have Spain, France and Germany constituted their power? Under Leon X, Jules II, Philippe II, Barberousse, Louis XIV and Napoleon -- all heavy-handed men, and more often poised upon the hilts of their swords than on the charters of their states - Niccolo Machiavelli

Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? It may be answered that one should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, is much safer to be feared than loved, when, of the two, either must be dispensed with. - Niccolo Machiavelli

Morrellian anti-aircraft guns across the country began to fire at the newly arrived Zeppelins. The Mountains in the north of the country contained scattered military bases, which quickly sent warning to forces further south. They received moderate damage from the first bombing run.

In the thick conifer forests to the north, Morrellian troops had set up their positions, as they waited for the advance of the Princes ground troops. They had set up plenty of traps, and had dug out small, simple trench fortifications, in which their machine gunners took up positions in. Suddenly, they saw the Alexandrian troops advancing through the thick forests. They lay silent for as long as they could, until finally, the bulk of the advancing troops were in range. At that point, the machine gunners quickly opened fire on the enemy troops. The forests made large vehicles unwieldy, and as such, the infantry in them were relatively safe from them. However, they were vastly outnumbered, and soon the first line of defense was broken.

Meanwhile, on the highway, the Morrellian defenses had set up several fronts of defense. They were expecting a strong, fast, and hard assault by whatever tanks and other vehicles the Magnus Alexandrian army had. The highway was an important economic asset, although it was basically a free ride for the invading army to the capitol city if they broke through their defenses. Morrellian high command was in the middle of a fierce argument on whether or not they should plant explosives under any bridges on the highway, ready to detonate once Alexandrian vehicles drove over them. At the front of the defensive line, Morrellian troops steadied themselves. There where 10 tanks assigned to the frontal defense, although they were of an inferior, and rather outdated model to the Alexandrian design, they could still hold their own for a short time. Troops with Rocket Propelled Grenade Launchers aimed their sights straight ahead, as they predicted, the thundering sound of the Alexandrian army was ahead of them. The commander of the forces steadied himself, before he screamed "Open fire!" At that moment, the Morrellian tanks began to fire on the advancing forces of the Alexandrian army. Artillery from several kilometers away began to lay down fire on the areas surrounding the highway, attempting to cause casualties, while not causing major damage to infrastructure.

While the battle raged on in the north of the country, Morrellian forces were being called up, armed, and readied for immediate combat. Just to the north east of the capitol city, on the Morrellia River, on the wide open plains of the nation, the Majority of Morrellia's tanks and combat vehicles had been gathered up, and a large number of reserve troops were awaiting orders, nervously listening to whatever updates they received on various radios, scattered throughout their camps. Morellian Aircraft were also preparing to launch and attack Alexandrian forces, if they made it to the open grasslands north of the capitol.

In the northern mountains, the 4th Division, of about 15,000 infantrymen, readied themselves. So far, Alexandrian forces had made little advances into the mountainous terrain, but they knew that they would either have to strike at the Alexandrian forces soon, or that they would have to be ready to stand their ground soon.

Morellian Northern Forests, Day, Forward Command Post

Prince Alexander viewed the various monitors displaying his forces and giving a continuous feed of battle results. So far the push had been successful. Even though his troops had not been to well trained in forest warfare, and the fact that his advantage in superior armor was reduced, they had still managed to break the first line of Morellian defenses. His infantry battalions had suffered moderate casualties. Although he had vast reserves of infantry, he decided not to commit them, he wanted to continue a blitzkrieg style attack, and sending in reinforcements would only slowly his forces down and diminish the element of surprise.

His infantry had assaulted the enemy trenches and captured them, installing their own machine guns along the line. Supply lines were established, this command post he was now in was set up in order to direct the next major attack on the enemy lines. The efficiency of the preceding number of events surprised even the Prince himself, it had only been three hours since the attack had started. This front would be the hardest to capture, and hence the reason why elements from two armies had been committed. For now, he had to depend solely on the infantry to clear the forests, so that he could move his tanks and armor onto the great Morellian plain. Consequently, great lanes were being made through the forest so that his armor could pass through.

Forest had also been cleared for his artillery, he could hear them firing in the rear. He had them focus fire reinforcements and supplies coming in from the Morellian plain into the forest to aid their defenses. His detachment of mobile anti-aircraft guns were also in place and firing at the Morellian air-force as they attempted to stop the Prince's zeppelins. He also had the artillery firing at the Morellian's own anti-aircraft guns.

Another nuisance in the Prince's plans was the Morellian troops holed up in the northern mountains. His intel gathered that there was as many as 18-20 thousand in defensive positions. They would be hard to rat out. For that reason he detached a few battalions of specialized assault infantry, roughly 10,000 men armed with the tools necessary to rat the Morellians out of the mountains. He took careful measures to ensure they would mount their attacks well. The battalions were accompanied by special mobile artillery. The infantry themselves were equipped with grenades and explosives, along with scopes and night vision goggles for night time, along with an attached squadron of helicopters and transport zeppelins. It was estimated that they would be ready to strike in 30 minutes.

Morellia Independence Highway, Day, Tank

Major General Ingham looked out from the top hatch of his tank. His troops had entered the border roughly an hour ago, and it was still dark. The first touch of light had appeared from the sun, artillery could be heard firing kilometers behind him, softening the Morellian defenses, and it was time to mount the first offensive. The highway was a critical part of Morellia; not only was it the most important road in the country, it also led straight to the capital city, also called Morellia. Thence it was no surprise that he would find tough resistance. His intel from his reconnaissance planes informed him that three major lines of defense had been set up along the highway, and that thousands of conscripts were beginning to be assembled on the great plain outside of Morellia City. The highway also contained a number of bridges. Ingham did not know if the Morellians were willing to blow them up in order to impede his forces. But he would address that issue later. He looked around him, tanks along with his own advanced in formation; a giant wedge, and he was at the tip. Morellian machine guns began to fire from their barricades placed on the open road, devoid of cars. The size of the highway allowed his tanks freedom of space for their formation. He descended into the tank, and watched the operators as they punched through the first set of barricades, continuing on to the second. The left over Morellian forces would be mopped up by his own infantry formed up behind the tanks. After that, they would go to work, building their own defenses in case the tanks were pushed back.

Morrellia Independence Highway, Second Line, Veralt Bridge, 0830 hours

General Morris Black, commander of the second line of defense on the Independence highway, waited, and waited, awaiting the order on whether or not to rig the Veralt Bridge with explosives. The Veralt bridge, named after the river it crossed over, the third largest in the country by width, length, and average depth, was the only major crossing for several miles. While the section it was built near narrow banks that would be easily forded by infantry, most vehicles that weren't purpose built for such a task would be rendered useless. The majority of the defensive line was set on the opposite bank of this river. Minor concrete defenses, built roughly 30 years ago, lined the area, and secondary trenches had also been dug out. Machine gun positions had been set up, and for now, the men waited uneasily, preparing for the enemy assault that was sure to come, now that the first line of defense had been breached. Suddenly, he heard the orders he had been waiting to hear.
"General Morris Black, this is High Command. Set up explosive charges on the Veralt Bridge immediately."
He looked to his officers and simply nodded, as they knew what they had to do. They quickly shouted out orders to the troops over their own radios, as by the bridge, a group of demolition experts hurriedly grabbed their tools, and their explosive charges from several vehicles, and rushed over to the maintenance walkway on the underside of the bridge. The bridge was to be rigged to explode, and the detonator was linked to a small wireless control in the generals command tent, about 500 meters away from the bridge. The troops had set up the explosives in roughly 45 minutes, a quick job, and just in time. Alexander's tanks appeared in the distance, down the highway. Artillery from their line, and the line behind them, began to fire on them in the distance, although they would have caused very little damage to the force. The sappers hurriedly ran out of the maintenance walkway, and quickly departed with their vehicles, back to the third defensive line. General Black looked out over his forces arrayed, on both sides of the bridge, and then at the Alexandrian tanks fast approaching, as he took a deep breath in, and climbed into a mobile command vehicle. He knew that he may have to retreat at any moment, to stay out of range of the Alexandrian tanks, even from the other side of the river. As the tanks came closer, almost into firing range of the first defensive line on the river, he heard a report shouted over the radio that the first line of defense had been broken, and that Alexandrian infantry would soon come storming down the highway to support the tanks.

Morellia Highway, Day, General Ingham's Tank

All of Ingham's tanks had punched through the first defensive line, as expected. He was just radioed that his infantry were coming up behind him, some had been left behind to re-establish defensive positions. His tanks had momentarily paused to wait for the infantry. Now that they had arrived, he could continue. None of his tanks had been destroyed, though one had been penetrated by Morellian machine guns. It was still operational. He decided to place that tank at the back. The tanks had reformed into a wedge, and they now began to roll again, keeping formation as they pressed forth to the next defensive position.

Ingham knew that there was a bridge that led to the next enemy line. But he was cautious. He did not know whether the Morellians were willing to blow up their own bridges. If they did, he would need to send in dummy forces, if not, then he could safely pass and continue the assault with his armor. As much as he would have liked the latter to be true, he knew that the former would be the safest route to take, he could not risk losing the tanks. He ordered his tanks to halt. He couldn't possibly inform his troops of what he was about to do... war was cruel, and battles are won when the general understands the maxim: "The end justifies the means."

He radioed "I have just received word from the Prince that a ceasefire has been made, and he requests me elsewhere to deal with some rebellious Morellians. I will turn around the majority of our tanks, I want the last row of our wedge to remain with a couple of companies of infantry and continue to advance along the highway. You will receive the surrender of all Morellian troops in your path. I have been assured of this. If any try to resist, gun them down."

Confirmations were heard as his tanks turned around. He came back to the first line, and he reviewed the defenses his infantry had put up. Bringing up infantry, he split them in two, and placed them on either side of the highway, where there was forest. He got some of the older armoured cars for transporting troops to move up behind the dummy tanks in wedge, awaiting the order to cross the bridge and to 'receive' the surrender of the Morellians. Then, his own tanks he split in two, and ordered them to travel either way away from the highway as fast as they could, and find themselves a suitable crossing. With these thus prepared, he ordered the advance.

The dummy tanks and cars raced forward, shooting at the Morellians. They crossed the bridge, and as they did, the bridge blew up. Ingham had guessed right, it was rigged. The Morellians cheered, thinking that their enemy's armor had been destroyed. Thus his trap was springed. His infantry who had been waiting in the forest suddenly charged forward and began fording the streams on either side. The Morellian troops were caught unprepared, and a tough fight erupted between the two forces a midst the burning rubble of the bridge. When the fighting seemed to be going either way, Ingham's tanks had found fordable on along the banks, and after crossing raced down on both sides in a pincer movement, completely surrounding the Morellians.

Morellian Northern Mountains, Night

Captain Toovey looked out from his night vision goggles; the mountains were silent, but so was his troops. Little to nothing had happened since they had arrived. There had been no sign of the enemy, but that would quickly change he imagined. His intel suggested a few sites where Morellian troops were hiding. He was preparing to assault the first. There appeared to be trenches and dugouts all through the Morellian defenses, and these themselves were guarded by tough mountain, that would be hard to climb. He would need a distraction while his troops climbed to assault the trenches. That distraction would be artillery.

The mobile artillery batteries were being brought up as he pondered, and were almost ready to fire. Toovey signaled his troops, and they silently leapt into position; some rocks at the foot of the hill. They hadn't been detected yet. The Morellians up there must have been affected by the electronic jamming. He gave the order, the batteries sounded, men could be heard screaming and dirt being thrown up by the sheer power of the guns. But Toovey had not time for this. Already he was amongst rocks with his men, as he climbed to the first trench. His men were about him, some were shot, most reached it. As he hopped in, someone hit his thigh with a rifle. He returned the favor by pulling out his pistol and shooting the man. Once all of his troops had cleared the trench, they went to the dugouts and holes in the mountains and systematically threw grenades and explosives in, caving them in and killing anyone inside. This went on for some time...

Morellian Northern Forest, Night, The Trenches

Although most of the forest had been won for him, Alexander still had not gained access to the great grasslands of Morellia. For some reason, when night arrived, the resistance stiffened. The Morellian troops, used to fighting in forest, had mounted a series of ambushes and hit-and-run tactics. This seriously reduced the morale of his frontline troops, to the point that at this very moment, they refused to advance against the last Morellian defensive position. Alexander himself came personally to the trench. He looked at his soldiers, they seemed ashamed, but still they would not attack. Alexander yanked a rifle from one of the troops, and mounting one of the ladders, he shouted as loud as he could "Are you not ashamed to deliver your general to these traitors?" And with that, he climbed the trench and ran towards the enemy. His troops cheered and came behind him. Machine guns fired, the Prince was in danger. But it had worked. And, at the moment, just as he had planned, his tanks quickly rolled up behind the trenches and began firing and the enemy. The combined might of infantry and supporting fire routed the Morellians, who were more used to Guerilla warfare, and fled in relatively good order. The Prince decided not to pursue. If he hastily brought out his men onto the open plain, disorganised, even at night they would be slaughtered by the Morellian air force and their mounted dragoons, as well as their defensive positions. Tomorrow, the attack would continue. He retreated and immediately began to organise the attack. Firstly, he ordered the lanes to be completed, so that his tanks could roll out of the forest. He moved all his infantry up, and built more defensive works just inside the forest. His artillery he also ordered to be moved up a few kilometers, for better range.

Morrellia Highway, Veralt Bridge, General Morris Black's Mobile Command Vehicle, 0930 hours

Things had gone for the worse for the General so far. A trigger happy trooper accidentally detonated bridge explosives at the complete wrong time. He angrily slammed his hand on the interior of the vehicle. The original plan was to let the front part of the Armour through, then detonate the bridge, leaving several tanks isolated on their side of the bridge. Instead, they detonated while they were still moving over the bridge. The plan had been to capture whoever was commanding at the front of the wedge, but this had failed miserably. The men in their positions started cheering. Some of the officers in the trenches began barking at them as they did so, "Get down you idiots! We are still in a combat zone!", although it would not stop their celebration. The Machine gunners, who were more sternly focused on the task ahead for the whole part, saw something that disturbed them... the Alexandrian infantry had thought to try and ford the river, and they shouted out and started to open fire on the Alexandrian forces as they charged down the opposite bank of the river, and began to run into the river. It was at this moment that all the men who were celebrating, suddenly got back down and gripped their rifles, their celebration cut short, as they steadied themselves to fire upon the enemy forces, now charging across the river.

Veralt River Banks, 0940 Hours

A small scouting vehicle, ordered to patrol the bank of the Veralt river, spotted movement, and the loud noise of engines coming from the other side of the river. "What the hell..." The commander of the vehicle wondered. The Alexandrian armour should have been decimated from the explosion of the bridge... and he thought this was so, until... unmistakably, Alexandrian tanks began to roll down, having found the shallowest part of the river for kilometers either way, and began to cross. The communications officer of the vehicle hurriedly set up a secure link between the second defensive line, and Central Command. "This is scouting vehicle 23, of the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, we are spotting huge numbers of Alexandrian tanks fording the river! The detonation of the bridge was not successful in halting their armour!" General Morris Black replied. "Damn it! They are going to try and encircle us! Central Command, do you have any armour to spare? We can't hope to hold off these tanks on our own!" Central Command Replied "We can spare 15 Tanks... the rest are being kept in reserve, or being gathered up on the great plain." The General Replied "Gah, that will have to do!"

Northern Mountains, Night, 1930 hours

Four sappers, wearing night vision goggles, looked down on the attacking Alexandrian troops. They chuckled softly, as the Alexandrian troops seemed to have fallen for a very elaborate ruse. There were no more than 100 men in those defenses, with the majority of the "garrison" being cardboard, and dummies filled with animal blood, several being rigged to through flashbangs, and equipped with high powered spotlights. The bright lights, rendering the Alexandrian night vision gear useless, caused them to basically fight blindly, as the few actual troops that there were in the trenches, took several shots at the troops who had entered the trenches, before they quickly fled into the darkness. The various "concrete" bunkers and dugouts were actually made from cardboard and wood, painted to give them the texture and appearance of concrete. High above, on a precarious cliff, the sappers had set up explosives behind a collection of rubble. Waiting until the entirety of the Alexandrian force had entered the trenches, they laughed, and looked over to their explosives in the distance, detonating the explosives, and setting off a massive rock-slide, as they cheered.

Northern Mountains, Night, Trenches, 1943 hours

A startled Alexandrian soldier looked up, his vision blurry, as he had been recently hit by a flash bang... He could hear the screams of his comrades around him, as they shot at and bayoneted the blurry figures holding spotlights... and the shots of rifles screeching past them... he stared up into the darkness above, as the moon rose over the mountain slowly, casting light upon the entire scene that they had charged into. Their enemies were nothing but dummies, and several began to chuckle at the scene they found themselves in, despite the fact that several had been wounded or killed. The soldier squinted closely at a ledge, on the top of a steep cliff above their position, it was then, that he saw a large explosion, followed less than a second later, by a massive sonic boom, and a wall of rubble and dust that began to roll down the mountain, sped up and increased in size by the shots of their own artillery. He was seemingly stuck in a daze, as a large rock, launched into the air by the explosion, landed on him, the startled screams of others as some tried to turn and flee the rubble, but it was all for naught. It was moving too fast, and soon engulfed the positions, burying them.

Morrellian Northern Forest, 1900 Hours

The last line broke in the forest. The center of the line had fled onto the plains, while the flanks had disappeared into the thick woods. Alexander had won this battle, and it was likely that his forces would soon be on the Great Plain. The air-force had prepared to launch at the break of day, and were preparing to assault the Alexandrian armour, with various light missiles.

The Republic of Mallaska
Office of Foreign Relations

To be received by the honorable representatives of the Republic of Morrellia

Let it be known, under the oversight of the world's nations abroad, that the Republic of Mallaska supports the Morrellian endeavor to retain their lands against the shadow of foreign aggression. The unprovoked offensive under command of Prince Alexander IV seeking to regain their "rightful" lands has no place in the disruption of a free and democratic republic, and in a show of solidarity between Republics, the Republic Congress of Mallaska has approved of immediate emergency support of the Morrellian defense.

The Republic of Mallaska would like to offer its hand in the provision of armaments and logistical support to Morrellia as effective immediate, to be supported by the strength of the Mallaskan Armed Forces in the field of battle upon the immediate approval of your representatives.

Signed,
President Rick Hall, the Republic of Mallaska as approved by the National Congress of the Republic

Fort Ondersett, Mallaska

Fort Ondersett was the central base of all Mallaskan military command, located on an exponentially large tract of land just west of the Mallaskan capital of Callista, it was the most important military installation in the military. Within its borders worked thousands of soldiers, and the tarmac of Ondersett Joint-Internal Air Base was particularly busy in the already bustling military base. Orders had been issued all the way from the top command in the Department of Security to initiate preparations for a military deployment.

Grand Marshal Nathaniel Ford, supreme commander of the Mallaskan Armed Forces, sat at his desk within the base headquarters, flanked by top advisers and trusted officers with a map of the region laid atop his desk. The Grand Marshal, taking his orders directly from President Rick Hall, was to outline a strategy in which to support the Morrellians.

The council of advisers had decided that a quick military deployment was effectively the best option, focusing on providing heavy armaments and emphasizing on aerial supremacy to counter the heavy armored assault of the opposing forces. It was also determined, that if this equipment were to be utilized to their full effectiveness, they would have to be deployed without moments to spare.

Grand Marshal Ford had made his decision, which would rather emphasize aerial dominance to eliminate enemy forces by airstrike, mostly to be provided by LY908A Warhawk interceptors and various bombers. The Marshal had deemed the movement of heavy armor to be too slow, and could not exercise a particular Mallaskan strong-suit of the amphibious landing due to the lack of coastline, taking advantage of the large Mallaskan Navy. In the end, he opted to deploy mostly aerial assets. The Mallaskan Air Guard's 2nd Paradrop Division numbering over 26,000 men and assorted vehicles to be deployed instead in efforts to halt the Alexandrian advance. They would secure a landing area just south of the Morrellian capital and secure the area for stronger Mallaskan Army units to be landing, bringing with them heavier equipment. Mass aerial transport would be provided as soon as possible, with ground forces expected to be on Morrellian soil within 36 hours.

In the latest hours of darkness, the Mallaskan Air Guard's numerous aircraft of the Logistics Wing took off, bound for the long journey to Morrellia bearing precious cargo under escort of LY908A Warhawks and other assorted fighters, which were to join in on the war.

To the Republic of Mallaska

We are overjoyed that you seek to help us in the defense of our freedom. We will gladly accept any aid you can provide, and we have already designated an area, on the west bank of the Morrellia river, for you to muster your forces at. Your offer for aid has already bolstered the morale of our troops, as hope is beginning to rise among the men, that we may defeat this tyrannical invader. Currently we have forces who are holding out in the northern mountains. Our current reports suggest that they have already caused heavy casualties on the force that was sent to remove them, but the sheer mass of manpower will likely overwhelm them soon. We are gathering all our forces on a large plain, just north of our capitol. Currently, Alexander IVs forces are advancing down our Independence highway, and have already overwhelmed the first line of defense, and are assaulting the second. They have driven out our defensive lines from the forest, and they may strike at any moment. We have very little armour, and most of it is quite outdated, due to this, they will likely wipe out whatever force we array against them with ease. For this reason, we have to rely on air power to try and weaken their tanks. We pray that your forces arrive swiftly, and that you may help turn the tide in our darkest hour.

Sincerely yours,
The Government of The Republic of Morrellia

To the representatives of the Republic of Morrellia:

Greetings from The Free Lands of Vancouvia, your distant neighbor from the south.

Our Congress has become aware of your plight and has sympathized with your situation. Currently unengaged with any other military conflicts, we earnestly wish to be embroiled in yours.

We have preemptively dispatched several squads of special forces to your country via fixed-wing aircraft, and we hope you can secure for them a forward operating base in which to initiate guerrilla actions in your country on your behalf. These troops are extremely well trained and can execute virtually any type of operation you require. They are commanded by Colonel James Williamson, a personal friend of many of our senators.

Our nation has also allocated a considerable amount of funds to be used at your discretion. In addition, a squadron of cargo planes has lifted off with several tons of beef and produce, which we hope your troops and citizenry will appreciate.

If we can be of any further assistance, please contact us and we will do our best. We truly hope we can turn the tide in your conflict for autonomy.

The best to you and your nation,
The Free Lands of Vancouvia

Ruins of Voralt Bridge, General Ingham

The fighting had been fierce, even with the Morellian infantry surrounded by his own infantry and tanks, their bunkers and trenches were hard to take down. However, the fighting was dying down, and most of the resistance had been crushed. Tanks, he lost but a few. Infantry he had suffered some moderate to heavy casualties. Straight away he ordered for more infantry to be brought up to reinforce his own and create another defensive postion over the old Morellian one, in case of an enemy counter attack.

The easy part was over, now he would have to come up against the third Morellian defensive line, which was the toughest. His aircraft reported 50 tanks, 25 armored vehicles and roughly 11-12 thousand infantry. As useful as it could be to have time to completely restore the cohesion of his troops, and repair his armor, there was no time. The blitzkrieg would have to continue, and he needed to stay on schedule. He received word that Alexander had driven the Morellian forces out of the forest, and that the XI and XII armies were preparing to make a push into the Morellian plain. Ingham needed to punch through the third defensive line and drive straight for the capital, drawing away reinforcements from Alexander's front. He knew that the Morellians had strong defenses on the plain, and that their airforce would be able to deal much damage to the openly exposed armor.

But he only had an hour at most to prepare the attack, so he immediately began to plan it.

Morellian Northern Forest, Prince Alexander, Forward Command Post

The offensive was almost ready. Trenches had been built on the outskirts of the forest that lead to the plain, armed with machine guns to prevent any Morellian counter offensive. Infantry from the 200th and 202nd divisions had also been brought up, but the main arm of his forces was his armor. Although he had committed more tanks to Ingham, some 500 compared to his own 300, he still had a clear armor superiority. This he would need to use to its fullest effect. In less than thirty minutes, the great offensive would begin, and Alexander would push all resistance before him as he rode into Morellia City.

Morellian Northern Mountains, Captain Toovey

There had been unplanned setbacks in his plan. The Morellians were smart guerilla fighters. Some of the posts he men attacked were actually dummy posts. They would be harder to rat out than he initially thought. Regardless, he had been bringing up reinforcements and making systematic bombs on suspected Morellian outposts with the transport Zeppelins in order to properly rat them out.

FROM: PRINCE ALEXANDER IV, DUKE OF VALENCIA
TO: REPUBLIC OF MALLASKA, OFFICE OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
TO: Vancouvia, Congress

Reads: We ask that you desist from providing military support to the Morellian military. Years ago during the Barsovich Civil War, these rebellious people took what was not rightfully theirs and declared an illegal sovereignty. We have come to restore these lands to the Kingdom of Barsovich, of whom I am it's rightful heir. This is your last warning. If your troops land on their soil or any of your aircraft attack our forces, we shall declare war on you.

The support of your special forces will be much appreciated. Our Northern Mountain forces are currently under siege by anywhere between 10,000, and 20,000 men, according to reports. We have designated a landing zone for your aircraft, at the Capitol Military Airbase, and you can expect a warm welcome from our troops there. A for ward base is also being designated for your men to operate out of, and they will be briefed on it, and transported there upon arrival.

In addition, the supplies of food that you are providing to our nation will be a great aid to us, as it will allow us to place more focus on the military problems we are currently facing, and we are certain that you will help us win this war.

Sincerely yours,
The Government of The Republic of Morrellia

The Great Plain Military Muster point, 1519 hours, 30/09

General Morris Black reluctantly exited his command vehicle. The retreat from his men at the bridge was still fresh in his memory. He wanted to stay and fight at the Third Line of defense, but instead, he was sent here, to the Military Muster point. Thousands of men, some reservists, most eager volunteers, had been gathered up to fight. With most having at best two days of training, they were armed, and their camp was arrayed out on the great plain, countless tents lined up. The general attitude here was one of hope. Recently acquired allies in this struggle, and promises of supplies and military aid had greatly increased the morale of the men, but they would likely be facing the Alexandrian Army by tomorrow. Many had begun to pack up their belongings, polish their rifles, and preparing to fight in the morning. The General knew that their chances were slim, but the Morrellian Air Force, which was much more professional, would likely be able to cause great casualties on their vehicles. Still, he sat down, inside a medium sized officers tent, and awaited orders.

To the representatives of the Republic of Morrellia:

I regret to inform you that a storm front in the path of our flight plan has forced our squadrons to return to Vancouvia to refuel and await a change in weather.

The first Vancouvians should have boots on the ground in approximately 12 hours from now, should weather permit. We appreciate your securing of a base we can operate out of, and our officers are currently working on plans to lift the siege on your mountain forces. Please send us any further intel that could be of use.

Thank you for your patience,
The Free Lands of Vancouvia

Northern Morrellian Mountains, 1428 hours, 30/09

A small group of about 30 Morrellian Mountain Infantrymen watched, from their well hidden positions in a forested part of the mountainside, as an a group of 5 helicopters, and 1 support Zeppelin had landed in a small clearing. They were surveying the defenses of their comrades, who were holed up in a small outpost, composed of a ring of trenches, and 3 small dugouts, the machine gun posts hidden by small bushes, built into the slope, facing outwards. The final helicopter was coming in to land, as one of the troopers, lying prone, and carrying a Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher, equipped with a laser targeting system. Carefully, he took a knee, hidden behind a tree, leaned out a bit, and fired, launching a grenade into the spinning rotors of the Alexandrian helicopter, which was about 15 meters off the ground. As soon as it impacted, a large explosion mutilated the rotors of the helicopter, which spun out of control, moving to the left, before smashing into another of the landed helicopters, before the fuel tanks of both were ignited, exploding. This was a signal enough for the men inside the outpost, who, had 50 caliber machine guns installed in their posts, armed with armour piercing rounds, and began to fire on the enemy aircraft and troops from their positions. As the Alexandrian troops frantically took cover, 10 of the 30 men had come from behind the clearing, and opened fire on the Alexandrian troops, who had already directed their attention at two different locations.
