The Frozen RP (Signups-Open-IC)

Postby Elsa the Snow Queen » Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:48 am

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The year is 1850 and the world stage is one of tense suspense. Word has hit the international community that the Queen of Arendelle has magical powers. A prince of the Southern Isles tried to kill the Queen to size the throne and another Duke of Weselton tried to murder her to stop the eternal winter. However, the Queen saved her Kingdom by thawing it and went on to banish the Duke of Weselton while cutting off all trade with Weselton. She also sent Prince Hans back in chains to the Southern Isles to stand trial. This RP takes place after the above occurances and is a political roleplay. You can do anything from declare war to being peaceful and doing diplomatic events with each other. But please read the below rules first:

Hectus Khan, The South Eastern Ice frontier, 1st Division Infantry Encampment

Hectus stood with his advisors observing a large table sized map of Northern Europe, upon which multiple figurines where set. Multiple red flags dotted the map, major capitals in the area. Many figurines stood close enough to enemy capitals it seemed as though even in reality they where only a step away.
Around the table advisors bickered on varying matters.
"Order!" A tall man in a large coat yelled.
Everyone settled immediately.
"On with the meeting."
They each took seats around the table.
"What is the situation General Sultai?" The man, by the name Hectus asked.
A burly man in a brown uniform stood, giving a salute.
"Our infantry are poised to attack the countrysides of multiple other nations. Sir." The man sat down once more.
"What?!?!" Yelled another man standing in shock and rage. "On what grounds?!?! All governments of the world have been at peace with Mardu for years!"
"Yes," Hectus nodded. "But that was my fathers time as a ruler. And his fathers. But now, we will conquer all of our known world. Everyone and thing, will raise the Mardu banner."
"This cannot be tolerated!" Another woman cried standing, followed by 2 more of the 5 remaining advisers.
"Very well," Hectus nodded sitting. "Jail them."
Infantry soldiers marched in, before taking the advisors out, off into the snow billowing outside the tent.
"So where is our most strategic point to attack?" Hectus asked his remaining advisors.
His general stood again.
"Sir, if I may, Arendale has many resources, trade, and is unlikely to expect an attack from a long trade ally."
"Good," Hectus nodded. "What are our best attack options?"
A guerrilla warfare style may suit us in the mountains sir." A young man, new to his post stuttered standing slowly.
"Perfect," Hectus nodded. "Prepare the soldiers to trek through the mountains. Meeting adjourned."
Hectus stood, walking back to his personal tent, no larger than any other.
"And someone give the young lad a promotion.
98% of all NS users would cry if they had to read a lot to understand an RP, regardless of how good it was. If you're one of the 2% who simply would sit back and laugh, copy and paste this into your sig.

Tantanian Capital

"Sir, the ice in the lake has disappeared" The Commander reported.
"Good, I didn't want to be a month late to welcoming Queen Elsa to the throne. But what puzzles me is that the ice just appeared and disappeared in two days. Strange..." Jay replied, looking thoughtful. Suddenly a soldier burst into the room,
"Sir, there's been, a..."
"What is it, can't you see that I'm busy!?"
"There's been rumours that Queen Elsa has power over ice!"
"What!?" Both the commander and Jay exclaimed.
"It's true! Our men have even reported that they saw an ice castle appear in seconds!"
"That would explain the mysterious ice... alright, prepare the boat! We're going too Arendelle!"

IC:
Valandil, Íslenski Svalbard
1850

The doors to the Hall of Gándálfr were reverently opened by the Red Guards, as HRH Fagerlúnd IV strided into the gold plated throne room. His lords, ministers and attendants were already inside, and they all rose as he walked towards the great throne and sat down in preparation for the first Council in 36 years.

Archduke Dökkenkjúk, Treasurer of the Orthodox Church of Svalbard and Royal Tutor, rose. He clutched his baton with his octogenarian hands and said to the King in Old Norse, "Your Highness, the decision we are to make is of the utmost importance."

"Never before has our great kingdom been faced with such a colossal situation as this. In the Southern kingdom of Arendelle, a 27 year old* has become the queen. Not only this, but she possesses an arcane power far beyond what our scholars know of. As King of the Svalbard Archipelago, it would be your duty to decide what to do, whether to war, or to make peace. I take my leave." With those words, the Archduke sat down, brushing the lanyards on his chest unconsciously.

Fagerlúnd IV remained silent for a moment, before rising and saying to the Council in English, "I will not bring unnecessary war to my people. Have word sent to the fleet that they are to prepare for a voyage to Arendelle. I am sending our ambassadors to pay respects to the new Queen."

The Port of Hólm, Svalbard

Grand Admiral Harald Knutsson had received news that he had been chosen as King Fagerlúnd IV's representative to the tiny Kingdom of Arendelle. He himself, being arrogant to the next level, felt that it was a wise choice to choose him. He sincerely believed that he knew more about Arendelle than his own sovereign and the Council.

Knutsson had heard about Queen Elsa, the newly established Queen of Arendelle. She was the daughter of the late King Rómendacil III* of Arendelle, who had died during a storm while at sea.

Stupid fogey, this king. He should have chosen a bigger ship. Instead, he chooses a mere galleon. Unaccompanied. Ha! Ha! Ha!

He also knew that Queen Elsa possessed power. Ice power. Power that had never been seen before throughout Europe...

Enough talk!

The Admiral flung the doors of his office open and declared to the two lieutenants outside the room, "Well, if we're on a mission sanctioned by the King, we can't delay. Ready the finest ships in this port right now!"

(7 hours later...)

The Admiral had prepared for himself the frigate ISS Gígjökull, which was to be escorted by the brigs ISS Tenebrous and ISS Brünnhilde. Loaded with enough food for 3 weeks and 75 cannons just for good measure (with 30 on each of the brigs), Grand Admiral Harald Knutsson set sail for Arendelle.

OOC: *I'll edit these accordingly if there are any additions to Elsa's personal info

Postby Oceasian Scandinavia » Thu Sep 25, 2014 5:00 am

After delegates from Oceasian Scandinavia visited Arendelle to celebrate the coronation of the 21 year-old Elsa, delegates return to tell the Prime Minister, Kaj Leo Johannesen, that Queen Elsa of Arendelle have ice powers. The delegates tell what they know about the events. The queen somehow manages to freeze the entirety of Arendelle, while Prince Hans, the delegate of the Southern Isles, tried to take over Arendelle by attempting to kill Elsa, and Princess Anna, her younger sister. After the Duke of Weselton ordered his bodyguards to kill her, hoping to end the winter, he basically screws up Weselton's relations with Arendelle.

After hearing the story, the PM is kind of angry that Queen Elsa unfairly treats the Duke like that (in his opinion, at least).
"I think we should expand our trade deals with Weselton. They would be desperate right now after Arendelle, arguably their best trade partner, has now simply cut trade with them." Said the PM.
After receiving no replies from the delegates, the PM continues his talk.
"Also, what about that country in Iceland, whatever the name is? Some say they have dragons alive there, so I'm pretty sure we can easily find a way to make trade deals with them. Besides, they're the far-away land for the rest of Europe."

After getting more confused faces from the delegates, the PM then decides that he should get straight to the point.
"What I'm saying here is that we should send extra trade fleets to Weselton, and actually send a fleet to have diplomatic relations with that archipelago in Iceland. Also, we should investigate the validity that residents at the archipelago have dragons. And get me whatever ship we have is the largest, I'm going to visit Arendelle myself if I'm gonna believe that the queen have ice powers."

And with that said, ships are sent to various countries in Europe. From ice powers to dragons, Oceasian Scandinavia shall not stop in it's conquest to become the greatest country in Europe. The country is working hard to advertise it's seafood business to the rest of Europe. The new Icelandic country will be a great way to expand the business, as some say they have also discovered a far-away land, now known as "America".

The Critell Star
Critell, Greater Critellardon

The mood in the heavily urbanised Critell is dropping, after the Critell Star reported that Queen of Arendelle, "Elsa", had magical powers. Many of the civilians did not believe the story. "Ice powers? No, definitely not." said civilian John Rudolf, who is a prominent speaker in the Critell Debating Forum. "It's impossible. They're just cooking up a story to distract all of us from their powerful navy!"

Seeing the worsening international situation, King Christoph Felix IV has ordered for a massive mobilisation of the Royal Guards. "We need to get prepared, not only for defence, but also for possible future attacks. Our Royal Guards are the best equipped in the Germanic region; we have the largest population; our workforce is educated to such an extent that not even Arendelle can keep up with; what else is there to stop us from crushing all of them?"

Valandil, Íslenski Svalbarðsá

The King, along with his companion for the day, Marquis Eldgosið, were inspecting the royal grapevines together. Hours passed, until an attendant passed a letter to the King, which informed him that Admiral Knútsson had set sail for Arendelle with the Gígjökull.

Excellent. Now, we have to start our alliances with the other nations. Should this young Queen turn on us, it would help to have some network with the other nations, lest she freeze us...

The King said to the attendant, "Ready my ship, and prepare a few of the finer Terrible Terrors. " He then turned to the Marquis and said, "As for you, you'll be travelling to... Which is the nearest... Yes, Oceasian Scandinavia. We'll need some diplomacy. "

Dear Sir

We would be more than happy to establish foreign relations.

We would also like to take the opportunity to establish trade. Would your nation perhaps require live dragons and / or lemons?

With ships from both Icelandic Svalbard and Oceasian Scandinavia traveling towards each other, contact was eventually spotted.
"Stop the ship! There's an unknown ship over there!" Said the captain of the ship, Sean Hook.
Of course, needing to get closer to the unknown ship to be able to recognize it, the ship is then started again and is headed straight towards the unknown ship. After getting close enough to be able to recognize the ship as a ship from Icelandic Svalbard, clear with the face of a dragon that looks like it somehow lost all of it's teeth, the captain wrote a letter to the other ship.

To: Icelandic Svalbard
From: Oceasian Scandinavia
Encryption: High

So it appears that both of or ships have luckily crossed paths. Our Prime Minister sent me here to tell you that we would like to start a trading business with your nation. He suggested that we export fish to your country, to help feed the dragons that your country may or may not have. In return, you shall give us various technologies you have that we don't, and also historical documents. Details of this will be discussed later. Also, you might want to carefully guard your fleet when you approach Weselton, the Southern Isles, and Arendelle. Apparently there's political tension in those 3 nations because Arendelle's new queen have ice powers.

The letter is sent by a pigeon. The ship awaits response.

In Berlin, Weselton, King Frederick William IV was looking out the window. He said, "This witch is a terrible evil cast upon Europe. We must do something about her." He was informed of Duke's treatment from Elsa for calling out her sin of witchcraft. He considered it persecution because of Weselton's Christian beliefs. The King was also concerned for Princess Anna since he felt that she fell into Satan's traps. He wanted to help Anna and save her from the Beast. He realized that Arendelle was an evil nation and the people needed to be liberated from the Beast. He planned to travel to Arendelle to get more information on the situation. His whole mission would be for the Lord.

To: Scandinavian Oceasia

To whom it may concern,

It has come to our attention that your nation would like a military and commercial alliance with Icelandic Svalbard.

As we have both sent ambassadors to the Kingdom of Arendelle, further discussion can be carried out between them.

Also, please accept a few of our finest specimens of Terrible Terrors as a diplomatic present.

I await your reply

To: Greater Weselton

To whom it may concern,

We understand that your trade minister has recently been expelled from the Kingdom of Arendelle.

If this is the case, we would like to offer a trade and / or military alliance with your nation.

Our ambassadors are on their way to Arendelle. Further details can be discussed.

Also, please accept a few of our finest specimens of Terrible Terrors as a diplomatic present.

Meanwhile, on board the ONS Tirano.

"So, while we're at it, we might as well be talking about future military conquests and battleplans." Said the PM.
"Well, where should we start?" Said Commander Rudolf Wayne, chief of the armed forces.
"See, i was thinking that if the rumors are true, and that the Queen of Arendelle have ice powers, we might be able to use that powers to conquer nations we want." Replied the PM.

This makes the commander think, but neither of them actually believes that the rumors are true.
"Well, neither of us actually believes that she have ice powers, right?" Said the commander, looking curiously.
"Right, it's just an idea i have. But we do agree that we should use her powers to conquer nations." Said the PM. The commander nods in agreement.

The PM then changes the subject to a more "realistic" discussion, that war is imminent between Arendelle, Weselton, and the Southern Isles.

"So, this is a complex situation we have right now. Our nation have always wanted to conquer the Southern Isles. We are also currently on friendly terms with both Weselton and Arendelle. Now, here's where the problem lies. Arendelle has cut off trade with Weselton, and apparently the Southern Isles, too. So now Weselton might want to declare war on Arendelle, due to the fact that they are a very religious nation, and that Arendelle has cut off trade with them. They might also want the Southern Isles to declare war on Arendelle. Between the three, Arendelle is the strongest. Oceasian Scandinavia is actually a bit weaker than the Southern Isles, so we will need the help of Arendelle if we want to conquer the Southern Isles. That being said, we would want to keep trade with Weselton going. The economy of Oceasian Scandinavia is very vulnerable, even though it's strong. So-"

"Right, i see where you're going with this." The commander blocks off the PM. "We should keep Weselton away from attacking Arendelle. That way, the war would be between the Southern Isles and Arendelle, and that's where we would come in and take over the Southern Isles."
"Exactly." The PM says. He then wrote a letter to Weselton, hoping that it'll keep the nation from attacking Arendelle.

From: Oceasian Scandinavia
To: Weselton
Encryption: Unbreakable

So, we have noticed that Arendelle has recently cut off trade with your great nation. Don't worry, we're planning to expand trade with your nation. But more on that later. We worry that the recent foolish acts by the inexperienced young queen of Arendelle might cause a little spark that might start a war between Weselton and Arendelle. It's bad for our country, it's bad for your country, it's bad for Arendelle, it's really bad for Europe in general. So, the point of this letter is simple: Please don't start a war against Arendelle. The whole of Europe might turn against you, even us.

The letter is then sent by a pigeon. The ship awaits response.

Meanwhile, the ship have also received response from Icelandic Svalbard. Another letter is sent.

From: Oceasian Scandinavia
To: Icelandic Svalbard
Encryption: High

Thanks for your kind response. We will await this "Terrible Terrors" of yours when we meet in Arendelle. Further discussion of this will be continued in Arendelle. The pigeons are getting kind of tired, you know.

The letter is then sent by a pigeon. Meanwhile, the PM is shocked by the picture of the Terrible Terror.
"Is this true? Ice powers AND cute dragons?! I can't wait until we reach Arendelle!"

ISS Gígjökull

Grand Admiral Knútsson had received the pigeon message. Feeding the poor pigeon seeds, he cut the envelope open with the other hand and read the hastily written letter. He chuckled to himself.

It should be interesting to see how they react when we...

He was shocked out of his thoughts when he heard somebody shouting, "Jolly Roger sighted!!!" The ISS Tenebrous had, apparently, spotted a pirate vessel less than 800 metres away from where the three Icelandic ships and the one Oceasian one were anchored. It was headed in their direction!

(Just a little OOC note for Oceasia: I won't let the pirates attack the Republicka without your permission)

"Tell the Tenebrous and the Brünnhilde to engage immediately! We can't leave yet!" The signal was given from the Gígjökull, and the two brigs hoisted their anchors and immediately turned to engage the pirates.

A signal was then flashed from the Gígjökull, informing the Oceasians of the presence of the raiders.

Encryption Level: Extremely High

Greetings King of Icelandic Svalbard:

I am suggesting launching a united attack against Weselton. The captured territory would be divided equally. Weselton actually poses a great threat to our region, as Intelligence has told us that they possess a formidable navy capable of destroying the region. What do you have to say about this?

OOC: Hold on a minute, wouldn't it take a much longer time to communicate, since it's by letters? Also, not sure if there was encryption in 1850... :\

OOC: What I mean is... like private to only the recipient. Also, the letter was just sent. You can wait as long as you want to receive it.

OOC: Well, that's not the Tirano, that's the Republicka. Tirano is the one heading to Arendelle, with the PM in it. Just a little note.

IC: Captain Hook also spotted the pirate ship and immediately ordered his crew to get back on their duties and load the cannons. He then took over control of the ship, slowly driving it towards the enemy ship. Of course, he wouldn't want the ship to attack the pirates alone. But, time is running out, and a warning cannon is fired towards the pirates, signaling them to retreat or face a full-scale shootout. After around a minute, no response is received. The pirate ship is still heading towards Oceasian and Icelandic ships. The captain orders the ship to go slowly towards the enemy ship, knowing that the Svalbard ships would so the same.

Meanwhile, back at the Tirano....
"Right, so now all of our letters are sent. A letter to Weselton, a letter to Svalbard, and also a letter to the Republicka, to tell that their mission now to explore the wildlife ecosystem of the Svalbard Archipelago. Everything's going fine." Said the PM, unaware of the current situation.

Well, okay...

I see...

IC: In the meantime, the ISS Tenebrous, being the faster of the two Icelandic brigs, reached the pirate ship. Once they were side by side, she fired a broadside from the 15 guns on her side, hitting the pirate xebec. The pirates, in retaliation, fired 11 guns. However, the guns were not loaded with ordinary shot, but with grapeshot, with some chains inside. The chains tore through the side of the Tenebrous, creating a large mess inside the ship's cannon deck. Dead men lay all over, and the ship's doctor tended to as many of the wounded as he could. They were suddenly hit again. The pirates had moved all their guns to one side.

It was just at this moment that the ISS Brünnhilde came up alongside the pirate ship, on the other side. 15 sailors armed with swords boarded the xebec, catching the pirates by surprise. The pirates fought fiercely, though, and the 15 sailors were driven to the edge of the ship.

The captain of the Tenebrous used this opportunity to fire the 15 guns again. This time, it caused the mainmast of the xebec to collapse onto the Brünnhilde. Nobody was killed, thankfully. The captain then received a signal from the Gígjökull that the Republicka had altered course and was headed towards the dogfight.

On board the Gígjökull, Admiral Knútsson gave the order to keep the two Terrible Terrors as safe as possible. "We wouldn't want to give dragon corpses to the Queen of Arendelle", he was heard to say.

Captain Hook, now ordering for the ship to be at the full speed, realizes that the ship can't attack the sides of the pirate ship. The ships from Svalbard is already doing that. However, that doesn't stop him from coming up with a plan. A crazy plan, for that matter. He ordered the ship to turn to port side, which would mean that the ship is actually blocking the pirate ship. He ordered the crew that actually have a clear shot to fire at the pirate ship, to endlessly fire to said ship.

"Prepare to board enemy ship!" Said the captain out loud. With a direct access to the enemy ship, the plan is to fight in hand-to-hand combat with the pirates, while cannons from the Icelandic ships sink the enemy ship.

"On my marks! 3....2....1....BOARD!!"

Then, the crew begins running towards enemy ship. This plan may cause many innocent Oceasian blood to fall, but it's worth it.

In no time, the pirate ship has been destroyed. The remaining pirates, including the first mate (the pirate captain had been KIA) were taken on board the Brünnhilde.

A signal was sent from the Gígjökull to the three ships, signalling that they wold deal with the pirates before continuing to Arendelle. After all, there wasn't a deadline. In addition, there was more than enough food, both for the sailors and for the dragons. The only problem was that the Tenebrous would not be able to make it to Arendelle, due to the damage. Admiral Knútsson raised the Gígjökull's anchor and moved her closer to the Oceasian, in order to discuss their plans with the other captain.

Valandil, Íslenski Svalbarðsá

King Fagerlúnd IV was still unaware if the ambush of his ambassador's little fleet by the crazy pirates. In the meantime, he sent Duke Herzog, a retired military officer, to Tantania, hoping to establish relations in this situation. With him was sent two Terrible Terrors.

ISS Brünnhilde

The pirates were questioned one by one. From what little information came from them, it was clear that they were not the only ones around. In fact, this xebec was just a scapegoat for even more powerful maritime raiders...

Total losses:

Icelanders: 21 of 84
Oceasians: 3 of ?
Pirates: 18 of 26
