The Factions
Capital:Msocow
Head of State: Joesph Stalin
The Soviet Union had its roots in the Russian Revolution of 1917, which deposed the imperial autocracy. The majority faction of the Social Democratic Labor Party, led by Vladimir Lenin, then led a second revolution which overthrew the provisional government and established the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic (renamed Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic in 1936), beginning a civil war between pro-revolution Reds and counter-revolution Whites. The Red Army entered several territories of the former Russian Empire and organized workers and peasants into soviets under Communist leadership. In 1922, the Communists were victorious, forming the Soviet Union with the unification of the Russian, Transcaucasian, Ukrainian, and Byelorussian republics. Following Lenin's death in 1924, a troika collective leadership and a brief power struggle, Joseph Stalin came to power in the mid-1920s. Stalin suppressed political opposition to him, committed the state ideology to Marxism–Leninism (which he created) and initiated a centrally planned economy. As a result, the country underwent a period of rapid industrialization and collectivization which would hopefully prepare her for the war to come However, Stalin established political paranoia, and introduced arbitrary arrests on a massive scale after which authorities transferred many people (military leaders, Communist Party members, ordinary citizens alike) to correctional labor camps or sentenced them to execution.
In 1939 the Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact with Nazi Germany, initially avoiding confrontation but few truly believe it will last much longer...

Head of State: Adolph Hitler
Nazi Germany or the Third Reich are common names for Germany during the period from 1933 to 1945, when its government was controlled by Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), commonly known as the Nazi Party. Under Hitler's rule, Germany was transformed into a fascist totalitarian state which controlled nearly all aspects of life.
After Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by the President of the Weimar Republic Paul von Hindenburg on 30 January 1933, the Nazi Party began to eliminate all political opposition and consolidate their power. Hindenburg died on 2 August 1934, and Hitler became dictator of Germany when the powers and offices of the Chancellery and Presidency were merged. A national referendum held 19 August 1934 confirmed Hitler as sole Führer (leader) of Germany. All power was centralized in Hitler's hands, and his word was above all laws. The government was not a coordinated, co-operating body, but rather a collection of factions struggling to amass power and gain Hitler's favor. In the midst of the Great Depression, the Nazis restored economic stability and ended mass unemployment using heavy military spending and a mixed economy. Extensive public works were undertaken, including the construction of Autobahns (high speed highways). The return to economic stability boosted the regime's popularity.
Racism, especially antisemitism, was a central feature of the regime. The Germanic peoples—also referred to as the Nordic race—were considered to be the purest representation of Aryanism, and therefore the master race. Jews and others deemed undesirable were persecuted or murdered, and opposition to Hitler's rule was ruthlessly suppressed. Members of the liberal, socialist, and communist opposition were killed, imprisoned, or forced into exile. The Christian churches were also oppressed, with many leaders imprisoned. Education focused on racial biology, population policy, and fitness for military service. Career and educational opportunities for women were curtailed. Recreation and tourism were organised via the Strength Through Joy program, and the 1936 Summer Olympics showcased the Third Reich on the international stage. Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels made effective use of film, mass rallies, and Hitler's hypnotizing oratory to control public opinion. The government controlled artistic expression, promoting specific art forms and discouraging or banning others.
Nazi Germany made increasingly aggressive territorial demands, threatening war if they were not met. Austria and Czechoslovakia were seized in 1938 and 1939. Hitler made a pact with Joseph Stalin and invaded Poland in September 1939, launching World War II in Europe. In alliance with Italy and smaller Axis powers, Germany conquered most of Europe by 1940 and threatened Great Britain. Reichskommissariats took brutal control of conquered areas, and a German administration was established in what was left of Poland.
Many fear that Hitler's next move will be a full-scale invasion of the world's largest land power which may either prove to be his greatest success or most damning failure....
The Waffen-SS (German "Armed SS"; literal translation "Arms-SS") was the combat arm of the Schutzstaffel or SS, an organ of the German Nazi Party. The Waffen-SS saw action throughout World War II and grew from three regiments to a force of over 39 divisions, which served alongside the regular army. It is not to be confused with units of the Allgemeine SS subordinate to the Wehrmacht. The Waffen-SS was never formally part of the regular army. Although operational control of the Waffen-SS units on the front line was given to the Army's High Command, in all other respects they remained under the auspices of Reichsfuhrer-SS Heinrich Himmler's SS, and behind the lines these units were an instrument of political policy enforcement. It was Adolf Hitler's will that the Waffen-SS never be integrated into the army. In 1940, Hitler gave permission for the first non-German Waffen-SS formation and by the end of the war, twenty five of the thirty eight Waffen-SS divisions were formed from foreign volunteers or conscripts, or around 60% of Waffen-SS members were non-German.
In late 1940, the creation of a multinational SS division, the SS Division Wiking, was authorised. It consisted of foreign volunteers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, the Netherlands and Belgium under the command of German officers. Later on SS units were created using Croats, Ukrainians, Estonians, and Latvians. There were also SS units made up of Spanish, French, and British Commonwealth troops, with the latter unit being a significant propaganda tool.
Many believe that their trial by fire draws near as the next great war looms over the horizon...

Character Name: Brigadier General Fyodor Konstantinovitch
Character Nationality: Russian
Character DOB: 1/2/1902
Character Personal life: Konstantinovitch was born in Pskov to a civil servant and a school teacher and demonstrated exceptional reading and writing skills throughout his early education. During the civil war he was forced to flee into the countryside with his uncle Pyotr and spent the duration of the conflict helping out on his farm and frequently smuggling bread to red soldiers stationed in the nearby town of Valintinaskya. Pyoter would be killed by the whites for his activities but Fyodor escaped and attempted to begin a new life in a socialist enclave despite being dirt poor and lacking any special skills.
He would join the army in 1922 and help enforce the collectivization efforts of the late 20's and early 30's before being sent to the Moscow officer's academy in July 1932. While narrowly avoid the purge due to his low rank and less than ambitious demeanor Konstantinovitch was allowed to take 6 months leave in '33 to to marry his long-time lover Natalia Cherdenko. By 1941 they had 6 children 2 of whom were actively serving in the red army and another who had defected to Turkey for ideological reasons. He is now an old man living in the city of Moscow working with Stavka high command to prepare for the coming invasion.
Character Professional life:
After serving as a conscript as the Russian civil war came to a close he had little room for advancement. He did not really mind as the military was, for him, not much more than a meal ticket. While he did take part in a brief campaign of forced collectivization in the Ukraine during the late 20's and early 30's he did little more than carry a gun and try to look intimidating. During his leave in Moscow during the July of 1932 his former CO, JS Grigori Peshkov referred him to the nearby officers academy hoping only to receive commendation for success in this random gamble. Konstantinovitch did quite well in the academy and studied long-range and field artillery obsessively for several years away from his wife Natalia.
After the purge and the growing threat of Nazi invasion becoming quite evident to the communist party elites chose distinguished students from academies such as Konstantinovitch's and gave them command over inexperienced units expecting them to prepare for war within a very short time. From April 1940 to early June 1941 Konstantinovitch's unit, the 5th artillery brigade, has been stationed in eastern Ukraine near Donetsk anxiously awaiting deployment...

In this RP players create their very own general who resides over a brigade of 3,000-5,000 men. In addition to managing a personal life throughout the duration of the war with concerns such as illness, family and intrigue you must also battle other players one region at a time for the fate of the world. Our story begins several days before the beginning of operation Barbarossa and will take place mostly in the General IC Thread (link coming soon). From here you will receive orders from your superiors and be directed to either the Character IC thread (link coming soon) or the Military IC thread (link coming soon) . In the character IC thread you will go about your personal lives with random events that you must respond to individually and may even interact with other players from your faction to build trust or discuss strategy.
The military thread covers everything from troop movements to random events and, of course, BATTLE!
Fighting in this RP may take place between NPCs (played by me) or other player units/characters and will essentially be about RPing ability. By this I mean you must vividly describe your preparations and strategy for each day of a battle and I, as the OP, shall simulate everything that is beyond your control in order to decide who is the winner.
This is Alt-hist but only insofar as YOU, the individual make it. Fictional unit/character? Go ahead! Fictional battles that deviate from real events? Gonna happen. Using obscure top secret super weapons to god-mod your way to victory? No sir.
