1ème Coupe du Monde de Tchoukball, Nouvelle-Gaule
The teams that will take part in the tournament will be sorted into an even number of groups, in which each team will face every other team once; Nova Pruthenia (creator of the tournament) and Nouvelle-Gaule (host of the tournament) will be top seeds. If only the seven nations that, so far, have posted on this thread will take part in the tournament, they will be sorted into a Group A of 3 teams headed by Nova Pruthenia and a Group B of 4 teams headed by Nouvelle-Gaule. A win will be worth three points, a draw one point, and a loss no points; point difference will be considered as well.
The 2 best teams of each group will access the semi-finals; the winner of Group A will face the runner-up of group B, and the runner-up of Group A will face the winner of Group B. Eventually, these teams will compete in the final and the third place match. In case of draw in the knockout rounds, a 5 minutes long extra time will be played.
I will follow Nova Pruthenia's RP guidelines. Before the start of the tournament, right after the Olympic Games, each participant will have to submit its roster (7 players + 5 substitutes) and the following RP permissions:
If my opponent RPs first, he/she may:
===================================
Chose my goal scorers: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
Suspend my players: Yes/No
Godmod suspension events: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No
===================================
If more teams will enter the tournament, the format will change accordingly.
These are the cities in which the World Championship will take place:
Champlain
It used to be the capital of the Viceroyalty of Nouvelle-Gaule; now, Champlain is the capital of the Republic of Nouvelle-Gaule, founded 199 years ago by the exiled revolutionaries that unsuccessfully tried to put an end to the absolutist Ancien Régime of their homeland. Today, the beautiful capital fully lives up to the motto of the old revolutionaries and the present republic: freedom, equality, brotherhood.
Le Moyne
Perhaps the most well known city in Nouvelle-Gaule, Le Moyne is a popular tourist destination, and one of the most liberal cities in the continent, being to its nation what Amsterdam is for the Netherlands. Those reactionaries in the neighbouring Commonwealth of New Britain consider it a den of sin and vice, but they're just a bunch of puritan hypocrites - thousands of New British visit it every year, after all.
Fort Pontchartrain
One of the biggest cities of the whole Republic, Fort Pontchartrain is synonimous with two things: cars, and music. Since the 1960s, it has been home to the biggest names in French-language music, and to cars that put those of their cousins in Paris to shame - it seemed like it was headed to become some sort of real life dystopian wasteland, some decades ago but, thankfully, it has not met the same fate of that shithole in New Britain.
... ... ...
- Monsieur Boucher?
- Yes?
- You're supposed to submit a host bid, not to start another war.
- Oh, fuck. You know, adjusting back to civilian life's quite hard... I'm still having flashbacks about torturing POWs.
- WHAT?

Firstly, you are not the host yet. Another bid can come and the public votes for them so don't jump a mile. I like the bid but...
The top seed stuff implies that this tournament will not be fair. All because you came up eith the tournamenI it doesdoesn't mean you ate the best. Let the rankings go in Tchoukball 2. All set to zero is fair.

Nouvelle-Gaule wrote:This. Still, it's not a big deal, I could make entirely random groups if someone doesn't want me and Nova Pruthenia to be in separate groups. Anyway, there are 11 teams now. I know I said "even number of groups" but, I don't really want to have a Group A of 6 teams and a Group B of 5 teams - they'd be too... huge. What do you think about having Group A and Group B with 4 teams each, and a Group C with 3 teams? The semifinalists would be the groups' first placed teams, and the best second placed team in the whole group stage.

But yeah, smaller groups of 3 or 4 nations for the group stage might actually be a good idea.
