Was your nation ever in a civil war? If so, what was it fought over?

Welskerland never had a civil war, but one almost happened. People were protesting the king's reign and there was violence in the streets, but the military stormed the capital and dethroned the monarch before a war could happen.

There had been two civil wars in the history of the Saurian Republic, both of them occurring early in its tenure. The first (51 BC - 45 BC) began after famed general Reptilius Julius Tailis vanquished the Mosa Empire and Kingdom of Pterra when the Saurian Senate, fearing his growing power and popularity, sought to humiliate him and strip him of his power. Reptilius, however, would have none of it and so, he marched with his troops right into the capital. This caused his rivals to flee Saurus and raise their own private armies with which they combated the famed general. The war took place in provinces all across the country, occasionally even going into the territory of neighboring states, and lasted six years before Tailis was finally triumphant. He declared himself as Dictator-for-Life of the Saurian Imperium, promising political stability in the wake of decades of chaos that had inflicted the land, but was assassinated the next year and thus plunging the country again into civil war.

The second civil war (44 BC - 39 BC) was started in the wake of Tailis' assassination by rivals who had managed to stay out of the fighting during the civil war. It can be said that this second conflict was only a continuation of the first, an indication at the declining state of the Republic prior to the events that had occurred over the past two decades. Tailis' protege, Bruticus Walkerii Flagilius, waged a personal crusade of vengeance upon the conspirators who had killed his mentor as well as any in the Senate or in the Republic as a whole who had actively opposed Tailis' reign or whose corruption or rivalries had helped contribute to the continuing chaos within the Republic. His army roamed all across the Saurian lands, venturing even into foreign territory and overseas, fighting occasionally with native armies as he hunted down every single one of the conspirators and assassins. Eventually, he managed to prevail over his enemies, having killed every one of them. He reformed the Republic to curtail any further political chaos and reigned as Consul until he stepped down in AD 25.

In Yakus, a civil war was thought between 1968 and 1973. The fight was between the Communist Insurgency and the Nationalists. The Nationalists led by General Lesscott were victorious and the Communist Insurgency was routed, although there presence remains in small numbers and they still try to fight the army.

Yes, and it is currently still going. On July 27, 2013, the abolitionists (Opposing slavery, which is legal here) officially declared war on the Bjorkan government. The war currently has killed approximently 925,000 people and caused widespread destruction. The Bjorkan Armed forces controls the central, eastern and southern parts of the country right now, while the abolitionists hold the northwest and scattered parts of the west. The war has averaged 2,473 deaths a day and no front lines have changed for over a month. Western (USA, UK, France, Germany, Canada, among others) support is mostly for the abolitionists, though Finland, Russia, and Sweden have voiced their support for the Bjorkan government and even sent armament support and foreign volunteers to our nation's military.

Kaliyforniya itself has never had a civil war, however a civil created Kaliyforniya, with the Serf Rebellion or the Великая революция/Velikaya revolyutsiya (as it is known in the Russian Republics) forcing the Romanov Dynasty to flee to Kaliyforniya and Alyaska, along with the nobility.

Yes. The first civil war was called the King's Revolt, where the Kingdom of Chernarus (not to be confused with the Soviet People's Republic of Chernarus), where the king was reduced to a figurehead after having been overthrown by a quick and bloodless coup. Along with wealthy nobles and landlords, they created an army that revolted, capturing government buildings and killing most of the government officials there.

The other civil war, took place in 1950, lasting until 1954 - between the communist controlled government (People's Republic of Chernarus) and pro-democratic/capitalist rebels. The war was primarily confined to small provinces, and the rebellion was crushed.

You could probably call the "Glorious Revolution" a civil war. Loyalists to the royal government fought against opposition and republican forces aided by the Royal Michillian Navy over a period of nine months in 1914.

Given the official name of our nation today, it's not hard to surmise who won.

The 1918 Revolution in which a group of Communists attempted to overthrow the Imperial government which resulted in the abdication of Wilhelm II, the Crown Prince succeeding him as Wilhelm III, and the brief establishing of a Communist republic in Bavaria that was thankfully quickly crushed the next year and Mittelsbach rule over the region was reinstated after brief but brutal street fighting between the Kaiserliche Heer and the Spartacist rebels.

In 562 AE, Nianqing, the last emperor of the Silin Dynasty, dies at the age of 42 or 43. As a result, the Silin Dynasty, onced enjoying thousands of years of power, began to crumble, bringing the whole empire into a bloody and destructive civil war. Several military commanders fought for control of the empire. It is estimated that 35% to 40% of the total population of the empire had died due to the civil war. In 572 AE, after years of fighting, the Silin Dynasty collapses. Xin Di, a Silin Army general, becomes emperor of the Yaxun Dynasty. After taking power, he ordered the people to "rebuild this glorious empire." Sadly, due to the civil war, many of the Silin Dynasty's colonies gained independence, and so, the Yaxun Dynasty could not take back the planets that were colonized by the Silin Dynasty.

Several years after

Wu 14, 1935 AE was the start of the Zhouranese Civil War. The People’s Front, the armed wing of the People’s Party, fought against the Zhouranese Imperial Army. The civil war started in Gaoyuan Province in Tiantang, and spreaded throughout several colonies. It all started when people throughout Tiantang and several colonies protested against Wang Su’s totalitarian rule, which ended when soldiers crushed the protests. As the civil war quickly raged on, many soldiers from the Zhouranese Imperial Army had defected to the People’s Front.

On Ren 8, 1936 AE, Wang Su was assassinated by several officers from the Zhouranese Imperial Army. The People’s Front took control of Tiantang and several Zhouranese colonies. On Ren 9, 1936 AE, with the Zhouranese Civil War finished and the Empire of Zhouran collapsed, Yuehan Yi, who was commander of People’s Front soldiers near Heping, established the Greater Democratic Republic of Zhouran. He was chosen as the General Secretary of the People’s Party and a marshal in the newly formed Zhouranese People’s Army.

This was the start of a new era, an era of peace, prosperity and wealth.

Yes. A long, drawn out civil war, along with a revolution. Vladovaskia was colonized early on when our nation's riches were discovered. Soon after, with help from foreign governments, we maintained independence. As that sort of independence usually goes, our markets were dominated by foreign goods. This led a worker upheaval, leading to Vladovaskia's 100 Years of Darkness, or better observed as our period of Anarchy, where street gangs and the such ruled. Eventually, as always happens, a ruling gang of elitist businessmen prevailed, and smaller gangs formed together, accepting a state government to remove the corrupt gangs and save Vladovaskia as a haven for all.

Not since Iberia's creation in 1976, but the Spanish Republic that preceded it went through a massive Antifascist War in the 30s, resulting in the proclamation of the Spanish Socialist Federal Republic in 1940.

The Imperium has recently gone through a civil war fought between Emperor Thadeus the 2nd (backed by the military and common people) and Legate Cornium (backed by capitalist rebels and corrupt officials). After a five year struggle and the loss 2,000,000 lives the war finally ended and Emperor Thadeus now sits securely on the throne.
