What Programing Languages do you know?

Postby Hertzlia » Sat Jul 26, 2014 4:24 am

The title speaks for itself here, what programing languages do you know?
I myself know C, Arduino C, and a little bit of Assembly. I will also start learning C++ and Python next year.

PHP, Javascript, Python quite well.

I also know Java, Ruby and even Perl a bit.

(the 6 above are ordered in my skill in them, highest first)

And a long tim ago, Pascal.

Also, MOO, but that's not really being used outside of MOOs :p

Oh my. Well I do not usually like to brag. But this topic is appropriate for that. And as such I might as well. These are the languages and technologies that I am proficient at. I have tried others. But these I know decently or better.
C, C++, C#, Java, Python, SQL, PHP, HTML, XML, CSS, VBasic (office macros), GPSS, Flash Action Script, Java Script, Microcontroler Programing, Delphi and Android.
I probably forgot something too. But this should do well enough.

I used to know BASIC, decades ago. Couldn't tell you a single thing about it now.

I've taken up Inform, though.

I entered the IT high school last year, and all we have been studying is Pascal. Its idiocy really, since we could have spent only 2 months on pascal and then moved on to C. But noooo, lets take a year and a half of their lives and spend it on bullshit no one has been using for decades.

PHP, HTML, CSS, VBA, some C and SQL. NWscript.

I'd like to learn Sheeple, but no one will lend me a mainstream media outlet to compile it on.

You would be surprised. Pascal is still useful in that it extends into Delphi. Which whilst in it self is not my favorite tool to use did have a brief but extensive bout of popularity. So if you want to work in the industry you might find your self having to maintain a system written in Delphi and thus Pascal. And if you think Pascal is old I will tell you that a lot of the really old companies like banks still use COBOL and FORTRAN.

We get around 18 months, maybe more, on Pascal in IT high school. And then when we enter university we spend another year on Pascal. Yay for the education system!

I'm not an expert at programming languages, but I believe I know a bit of HTML, thanks to my laptop and the countless hours spent surfing the Internet.

HTML isn't a programming language, it's a document markup language.

I've yet to meet anyone in the industry who isn't. I know people who work in Objective C and act all smug because it doesn't have any operator for concatenating strings, and apparently only filthy .Net peasants would want an operator for that.
