Inmate takes two hours to die in botched execution

Postby Othelos » Thu Jul 24, 2014 2:32 pm

http://news.yahoo.com/arizona-inmate-ta ... nance.html

So, this guy in arizona took nearly two hours to die because a botched attempt at lethal injection. This comes after another person took 25 minutes to die in january, and in april another took 30 minutes (and then died of a heart attack after the execution was halted).

I think this is another example as to why the death penalty should be completely outlawed. There isn't a guarantee that the person will die 'humanely'. and the government doesn't have the right to take away someone's life.

What do you think? Should the death penalty be outlawed? Should we use a different method? Or leave it alone?

Yeah, really, we should get rid of capital punishment. It's an outdated and barbaric method.

Nah, I like my executions, it just needs to be improved. Like reinstating hanging as a method of execution.
Legalize owning RPG's and nuclear weapons, reinstate hanging, add in burning meat grinders, stop giving shits for airplane crashes, shut the fuck up about banning guns, the south will NOT rise again, you are just ignorant, look down on the poor, modify genetics so fat kids taste like bacon, cats are better than dogs, if you don't like what's going on in the middle east, fix it yourself, Obama is a good president, just a bad Congress, MLP is a kickass show.

Okay, lets say you have a child when your older and you catch a person molesting him or someone that has killed him. Or even worse, both. Do you think they should die?

I think so.

No no, everyone wants firing squads because guns. Hanging isn't as much requested, but we could go farther, like burning at the stake, or meat grinders.

Prisons should be reserved for less severe criminals. The American Taxpayer shouldn't have had to pay to feed this asshole, and now he has finally departed from the Earth is a huge relief. It'll save some cash.

No. They obviously deserve to be punished, and must be rehabilitated, but it's stooping below their level to painfully murder somebody.

I think this is another example of a dire need to improve upon lethal injection.

Lolno, I don't think so. We need to fund the death penalty more, like building a place where inmates have to fight lions and cheetahs and Chuck Norris.

Actually, the death penalty is more costly than simply putting people like murderers in prison. It costs 3 times more than simply locking someone up, and rehabilitating them.

What America needs is some wood, some rope and a book about Albert Pierpoint, that way it doesn't need need to be as drawn out.

The costs and time associated with being on death row is more expensive than holding a prisoner for life.

Hopefully you're kidding about that last part, but given your post history, I have reason to doubt that.

Anyways, we don't think it's fair when someone is murdered in the streets, it's tragic. So, why do we think it's fair when someone's life is involuntarily taken away by the state?

I'd rather not pay for this jackass to live with my money that i earned by being a productive law-abiding citizen.

And alot of people in the Real World, agree with this. Rehabilitation is great n all, but i dont want to pay for these assholes continuing to live.

That's why we should not be using chemicals or electricity to kill prisoners. Bullets are very cheap to manufacture and rope would last a lot of executions. Don't give them a final meal and it'll be even cheaper.

Lethal injection is a terrible idea in the first place. The execution was apparently supposed to take 10 minutes, but even that is an absurdly long time to kill someone. If we must have the death penalty, a bullet to the head is the only way to do it.

Fuck that, we need to go all saudi arabia on this issue! Crucifixions, impalement, flaying alive, stoning, beheadings, and being strapped to a chair and forced to watch Adam Sandler movies

Then, we film it and broadcast it on cable TV as a public service announcement....except that last one, that's just too barbaric to show. Think of the children. *nods*
