General Information & Lead up to the Crisis

The island of St Thomas, and its neighbor Thatch Cay, have been under Valaran control since the closing days of the Reitnam - Rawaii conflict. It has some local autonomy, but there is a military base of some 1,500 VRF on the island, as well as docks for the navy and a small military airbase.

More recently, many people from the neighboring islands under control by the Van Coenhorn Empire, had been allowed to work in St Thomas, manning fishing boats, acting as part-time workers in the fields, and so on. These Overlimbergians are drawn to work by the ghastly growing economy of St Thomas, which is now a stopping off point for international trade in the region (it also has one of the two airports in the island chain).
However, tensions remain between the locals who resent the migrant Overlimbergians for taking their jobs for lower wages. This tension has steadily been building for months, and now has boiled over.

It is unknown what exactly caused the final spark. However, unconfirmed reports suggest it started with a brawl outside a bar near the docks, due to anger over an affair with a local's wife. This lead to a larger scuffle that, unfortunately resulted in the deaths of two of the migrants, and a serious injury to a native of St Thomas.

Riots have broken out as a result, and the police have been mobilized. However, more deaths have been reported, and a nearby hospital is quickly filling up with the injured. It is unknown how the Van Coenhorn Empire, will react to these events.

Simultaneously, a border dispute has broken out with the Van Coenhorn Empire, over control of Thatch Cay, and the mineral deposits found nearby. Both nations claim control over the surroundings waters, and this had lead to tension in the past. Previously they had stepped back form the brink, but with the added factor of the riots most commentators fear for the stability of region.

The result is a powder-keg, just waiting to go off. And now the spark has been lit.

Keiser's palace, Reiensztaadt

Keiser Paul Willem III van Coenhorn was in his garden. Being tall, blonde man he slowly looked at all the exotic plants his aunt, Katarina Van Coenhorn gathered here. He slowly smiled, looking at them. They were beautiful... much more beautiful than the ones found in lush forests of Obverlimburg. He thought of his children days, when he was playing among these trees, as child guarded by his mother, Marie Callsburg-Van Coenhorn. Marie was strong woman, which despite being quite young when she gave birth to Paul Willem and his brother Karl Willem, now grand marshal of armies of Van Coenhorn empire and graduate from Lodewikus II's military academy. His peace was however quickly interrupted. When he thought about his brother, Karl Willem has just entered through the doors which were open. He shouted to his brother:

"Brother"! his voice was full of anger "damned Valaranians dared to arrest our workers in Saint Thomas island!"

"What?" Kesier did not believed what has he heard "meet me in my office; we shall talk about this."

They went to office, which was big room decorated in various old neoclassic furniture, looking like it was taken from XVIII century. Only personal Keiser's computer was reminding of XXI century in this room. After about five minutes, Prince - Marshal Kral Willem and Admiral Wikus van Eyck entered the room. Wikus van Eyck was tall, grey haired man who was Rykskancellor for some time; now he was most trusted military commander in the empire. Man with calm and careful character who often disagreed with Prince - Marshal on military strategy, but they liked each other.

"Your majesty" begun Wikus van Ryck "Our arms delivery from Gran Cuscatlan has just came, but that is not issue. As your majesty probably knows, our workers were arrested recently in Valaran's colonies. They often used to work there and go there and work, but now they are banned from entry and worse, they were humiliated before the world."

"I believe, dear brother" spoke Prince - Marshal Karl Willem "That the time to expand our empire a bit has come. All I need is your order and Valaran will deeply regret htheir actions."

Keiser thought for a long time in silence. Then suddenly he spoke.

"Prepare for militarisation of our colony in this part of the world" his voice was carried among the walls "but do not attempt to attack anybody"

"But brother, if we move now we have the chance to brea...." Prince-Marshal did not finished. His brother cut him:

"And risk the war with entire alliance?" his voice was calm and strategically thinking "if it comes to war, we shall crush them. For now, act carefully and see what are they planing."

The meeting ended with both commanders leaving Keiser to think....

Caribbean sea

Reinforcements were coming. Powerful Willem IV - Gerald R Ford class carrier - was leading Surface Assault Group of the Overliburgian navy. The enforcements to strengthen local garrison were coming. At the same time, Airborne division was landing in the capital of the island. Slowly, paratroopers were disembarking from their planes.

Meanwhile in Astaria

"Shit!" The dull morning at the intelligence bureau in Astaria was punctured by a loud exclamation and numerous curses, before an analyst ran full pelt towards the head office.

He burst through the paneled doors, panting. "Sir, Have you seen this?"

"Calm down, Nicholas" replied an unruffled ex-colonel Flint, head of Valaran's intelligence agencies, seated next to William Hastan, the defense minister.

Hastan reprimanded the young analyst "Nothing requires you to burst in here in such an abrupt manner, consider knocking next time. Anyway, what do you have to show us, I'm sure can't be that bad." He took the papers from the Nichloas' hands and began reading.

"Ah, this isn't good at all." he frowned, before turning to Flint "You know the riots in St Thomas?"

"Yes, I am up to date on the present situation -"

"Well the Overlimbergians have decided to send mobilize a fleet in response."

"I'm sure its just a precaution, its is their citizens in danger after all. They have every right to have added security measures as a result." replied Flint, still calm.

"Yeah, but would these 'added security measures' include an aircraft carrier, 10 other major ships, and an airborne division? According to our reports, these were unscheduled arrivals. Something is unusual here, and this is aggressive."

That gave Flint pause for thought. "Hmm, this is troubling. But nothing urgent for the moment. I will notify Alstan."

"And I will request for some added security of our own. Our military is due for an expansion anyway."

In St Thomas

The riots continue to flare up sporadically. Some 30 locals have been arrested as have 17 migrant Overlimbergians. The latter group will be requested to leave if they are arrested again. 2 more deaths (currently unknown from where they are form) have been reported, although causalities are limited and firearms have generally not been used. This being said, the atmosphere is getting worse with each passing day, and there are general fears of a mass riot starting soon, while rumors abound on social media. Activity in the main town has continued though police are considering confining people to their homes from 11:30 to prevent murders.

Naval Command, Overym, Overlimburg.

Admiral Van Eyck looked at reports of Direktoraat van Naval Intelligensie. DNI was one of top intelligence agencies in the empire - they were more than capable of discovering any military movement that was near Kesierryk's borders. It was no problem for them and their network of spies to deal with such things. But now, he had different matter in mind. Plan of naval exercises which will show strength of die Imperial navy. He called his adjutant, 1st class Adm. Riaan Coetzee. Riaan Coetzee was short, blonde haired man, with speaking troubles and genial commanding talent. This man could fool even most experienced enemies.

"S-s-s-sir!" spoke Riaan when he entered. His oval face looked up at much taller and older Admiral Wikus."A-a-admiral Coetzee reporting on duty!"

"Rest!" smiled Wikus "Admiral Coetzee, you told me you have to plan how to prove our strength and fool them. I am awaiting your response."

"S-s-sir I h-have that plan" smiled Riaan besides his speaking troubles "It is simple s-s-sir. Our o-operation shall begin s-soon. But first s-sir we s-shal circulate few false plans to deceive t-their intelligence".

Admiral van Eyck looked on map. It seemed interesting enough. Riaan was using classic doctrine he taught him. They will make sure that enemy intelligence will learn about exercises planned - in wrong place.

"Admiral Coetzee" said Admiral Wikus"you are to prepare the operation. First"here Wikus circled something on the map "this is our AO. Area of operations. The real one. And this " he said painting another one " is our fake area of operations. Inform Admiral Jaan Venter, that he is going to first move his fleet at at this geographical location and await next instructions. That are official orders. Unofficial orders are that half of the way he is to move his fleet to the west, near the St. Thomas island, and conduct the exercises there. Understood?"

"Y-y-yes sir!" saluted Riaan and left.

Bridge of Willem IV CV, International waters.

Admiral Jaan Venter looked at his watch. It was dark night when his carrier and it's escorts were swimming out in hexagonal array in the sea, each vessel protecting the carrier and ready to repeal attack on it. Fleet was on full alert, in case of the attack from Valaranians. But for now, they were sure they are safe. Then the captain of the ship, Jan Baranovsky, saluted to the admiral. Baranovsky was from Slavic people ruled by Van Coenhorns, and was very talented captain. He had a piece of paper in his hand.

"Sir, new orders from Overym" he spoke in his usual calm tone, as he was not the type who speaks a lot. Admiral read it and told his adjutant to match the encryption. It matched. They had new orders.

"Each ship, fleet control. Set course 45!" shouted admiral while he put down the orders. Baranovsky rushed to his command centre, while other ships begun to turn "All men on battle stations. Launch CAP!"

After some time first Combat Air Patrol was launched, consisting of two Dassault Rafale and one AEWC. Their goal was to provide airborne early warning the the fleet, searching for potential hostile targets.

The fleet was moving near the St. Thomas, but not entering territorial waters of Valaraln. Here they had to quickly launch four Rafales, conduct ground attack mission and retreat. Most radars were turned off, ships were relaying on counter - detection for scouting.

Andrey Vladimirovich Morozov and his family just had lunch. He was now watching TV as his 8 year old daughter, Tanya, was playing with her babysitter in her room, and his wife was washing the dishes in the kitchen. He was watching the SSTV (Stasnovan State TV) coverage of the Colonial Crisis in St.Thomas. He was suprised and thankful that it hadn't already escalate in full scale war. Suddenly, he felt his cellphone vibrating in his pocket. When he saw the number calling him on the screen he froze. He stood up abruptly. His wife wathced him from the kitchen "Who is it Andrey?"
"Shhh!" he said, telling her to stop talking. He knew what the call was about. He pressed the 'answer' buttong and brought the phone slowly to his ear. "Comrade Premier" he said. It was the first time Premier Krasnov called him personaly.
"Comrade Morozov. I need you to assemble the General Staff ASAP!"
"Y-Yes sir! Where do you want them?"
"Ministry of Defence. War Room"
"Yes sir"
"I will meet you there" said the Premier and terminated the call

1645 Hours
Vastava, Stasnov

The General Staff was assembled in the War Room, sitting around the large table in the middle of the room. Premier Krasnov was sitting in the one end of the table, and Morozov to the other. The table had a large screen on it. Morozov turned it on and pressed some buttons on the panel near him. The screen depicted a map of the St. Tomas as well as the islands near it.
"This is the map of the area" said Morozov "And this is St. Tomas" he said and pointed on the map.
Premier Krasnov stood up "Comrades. As you know, the Valaran Empire proved to be a good friend of Stasnov in the Zerran Civil War as well as various other incidents. The crisis in their colony will severly weaken them. We don't want that. But apart from that we all know why we have to and WILL support them"
The eyes of the men in the room were fixed on him. Everyone was quiet
"We have to stop any possible expansion of these damn Overlimbergians! They are growing stronger and stronger. We can't allow that oppressive Empire expand! Comrade Korzhakov?"
Grand Admiral Alexey Korzhakov, commander of the Revolutionary Navy stood up. "Comrade Premier?" he said
"Do we have any Task Forces ready?"
"Yes sir. As a matter of fact, i can think of a Task Force neither too big, neither too small for these kinds of operations. Task Force 12, commanded by Vice Admiral Kiril Bukharin. 20 ships, including a Kuznetzov-class Carrier"
"Perfect. Do we have any Marine Divisions available?"
"Yes sir. Two actually. The 73rd and the 91st, they are both stationed in the same port with TF 12."
"Very good. Have the 91st board their transports and join TF 12. Have the 73rd at the ready as a reserve."
"Yes sir" said Korzhakov and sat down
"Now gentlemen, let's take a look at the map........"
The meeting went on for 3 hours. A telegram was also sent ot Valaran to inform them about Stansov's support.

I would personally like to thank you for your support, it is certainly appreciated in these times. However, we have no knowledge or definite reason to suspect that the Van Coenhorn Empire will attack us (though we have our doubts). Their fleet is only present to conduct military exercises (if unscheduled), and these are happening some space away from St Thomas. This being said, a show of force by a trusted and respected ally would be most useful at this time. Our forces on the island are limited, but we could always conduct naval exercises together nearby, perhaps around little Thatch. This would provide a reason for your navy's presence without it seeming aggressive in any regard. It would also have the side effect of boosting our military cooperation, a worthy aim in its own right. How does this proposal sound?

We would also never wish any harm to a neutral party, or innocent civilians. Will that make your territorial waters 12 nautical miles and 100 yards then? If so, our ships and those of our allies will not infringe on them whatsoever.

In fact, keeping into the way of thinking that our fisherman regularly venture outside of our territorial waters, we shall extend them to fifteen miles. "Comrade Morozov. I need you to assemble the General Staff ASAP!"
"Y-Yes sir! Where do you want them?"

"Yes sir"
"I will meet you there" said the Premier and terminated the call

The General Staff was assembled in the War Room, sitting around the large table in the middle of the room. Premier Krasnov was sitting in the one end of the table, and Morozov to the other. The table had a large screen on it. Morozov turned it on and pressed some buttons on the panel near him. The screen depicted a map of the St. Tomas as well as the islands near it.
"This is the map of the area" said Morozov "And this is St. Tomas" he said and pointed on the map.
Premier Krasnov stood up "Comrades. As you know, the Valaran Empire proved to be a good friend of Stasnov in the Zerran Civil War as well as various other incidents. The crisis in their colony will severly weaken them. We don't want that. But apart from that we all know why we have to and WILL support them"
The eyes of the men in the room were fixed on him. Everyone was quiet
"We have to stop any possible expansion of these damn Overlimbergians! They are growing stronger and stronger. We can't allow that oppressive Empire expand! Comrade Korzhakov?"
Grand Admiral Alexey Korzhakov, commander of the Revolutionary Navy stood up. "Comrade Premier?" he said
"Do we have any Task Forces ready?"
"Yes sir. As a matter of fact, i can think of a Task Force neither too big, neither too small for these kinds of operations. Task Force 12, commanded by Vice Admiral Kiril Bukharin. 20 ships, including a Kuznetzov-class Carrier"
"Perfect. Do we have any Marine Divisions available?"
"Yes sir. Two actually. The 73rd and the 91st, they are both stationed in the same port with TF 12."
"Very good. Have the 91st board their transports and join TF 12. Have the 73rd at the ready as a reserve."
"Yes sir" said Korzhakov and sat down
"Now gentlemen, let's take a look at the map........"
The meeting went on for 3 hours. A telegram was also sent ot Valaran to inform them about Stansov's support.

I would personally like to thank you for your support, it is certainly appreciated in these times. However, we have no knowledge or definite reason to suspect that the Van Coenhorn Empire will attack us (though we have our doubts). Their fleet is only present to conduct military exercises (if unscheduled), and these are happening some space away from St Thomas. This being said, a show of force by a trusted and respected ally would be most useful at this time. Our forces on the island are limited, but we could always conduct naval exercises together nearby, perhaps around little Thatch. This would provide a reason for your navy's presence without it seeming aggressive in any regard. It would also have the side effect of boosting our military cooperation, a worthy aim in its own right. How does this proposal sound?

St Thomas

General Drake, sat in the wooded hills overlooking the town of Charlotte Amalie, the capital of St Thomas. He watched the faint traces of smoke rise up from the riots in the city below, gradually mixing with the afternoon heat haze till they were indistinguishable. To any onlooker his craggy features were impassive, but internally his mind was churning, full of battle plans, constantly thinking up strategies, and assessing the weaknesses of others.

He knew what should be done. His soldiers should have been sent in to restore order at the first major riot. They were obviously a lot more effective than the police... The orders said he should hold until matters escalated, but by the time they did it would be too late.

But he wasn't going to go against his orders. Not after what happened last time....

So he sat, unmovable, as the twisting columns of smoke proclaimed the deaths of those below.

In Charlotte Amalie

Edward Pickering scurried across the back streets, desperately trying to avoid the riots. The factory where he worked had closed once threats were made by the protesters outside, but the police hadn't enough men men to protect the workers, and so he was forced to find his own way back. He was an migrant worker from St Croix, who had come for the jobs after the 2008 recession. But he was bitterly regretting his decision now.

The city was normally a peaceful charming place, full of tourists and market stalls, bustling with the noise of commerce. But today, it was eerily empty and silent, with only the faint noise of chanting to be heard. He turned quickly to avoid the wreckage of a burnt out car, but came face to face with a group of protesters. They were dressed in black, carrying improvised weapons. Every move they made rang out with menace as they quickly encircled him.

"Scum like you shouldn't deserve to be here."

"Please, I'll go, I only came to-"

One man punched him the gut, and he doubled over is pain, gasping for air. Another kicked him in the shins, while the others began to attack as he fell to ground. His nose was quickly broken and blood streamed down across his eyes, partially obscuring his bison. But he still saw the police officer in front of him, wearing his riot gear. Despite the pain he cried for help at his savior.

But the officer only walked forward calmly, clutching his baton tighter. Confused, Edward looked up to face and stopped. The man's face was grim, and his eyes held no mercy.

As the officer raised his baton, Edward Pickering knew they had no idea what they had unleashed.

General information

Valaran Broadcasting Corporation

The riots in St Thomas escalated today with the report today of another 5 migrant deaths. Only one has been identified: Edward Pickering, a young man of 26 from St Croix. He was violently clubbed to death, in what some claim by police, this afternoon.
Pictures are circulating online of the corpse, which had been left in the street until officers could reach him. Another 36 arrest have been made, and curfews have been declared, though the riots continue. Valaran's governor reiterated that he was appalled by these horrific acts and promised a "decisive response". The central government has also stated that an extra 2,000 police officers will be airlifted to the island to deal with serious problems of under-staffing and overstretch, while the army base nearby will also be reinforced with an extra 1,500 men in case they are needed.

In a unrelated event, another incident was caused today on Thatch Cay, where patrol ships blocked a military vessel of the Van Coehorn Empire, which also claims the island. Meanwhile, both nations have announced military exercises to be held in the region.

We are currently reinforcing our police and military presence, so they could easily slip in as part of that process. Once there, they can be garrisoned in the more isolated and uninhabited mountains in the West of the island, where we have a training facility. There is one complication to our planned naval exercises, the nation of Arcadia-Europa has a trading outpost om Little Thatch, and it would requested that our ships do not come within 15 nautical miles of its shores. This shouldn't cause any problems but they have sent five ships as a precaution. Thanks again for your help.

The cold moring had a nice aura that Stasnovans always enjoyed. The men started boarding the 5 massive An-124s. A Tigr drove near one of the Antonovs with it's headlights blinding the men. The door opened and a bulky man came out, carrying a large bag with his luggage. The men waitting to board the An-124 dropped their luggage and saluted. They couldn't see his face yet, but they knew who he was. The man walked in front of the headlights, revealing his face. Colonel Andrey Ibraimovich "The Red Wolf" Sokolov, CO of the 501st. A legend amongst men. He was awarded the Hero of the United Socialist States of Stasnov twice, for his bravery and efficiency in the field of battle. Both times, he didn't accept it. He didn't believe in medals. He considered them to be just shiny pieces of metal, for men to show off in front of others. He also refused to be promoted. He never wanted to leave his beloved regiment to someone else's command.
"At ease comrades" he said and smiled. He walked to one of the soldiers and talked to him quietly. "Did you bring the vodka Ivan" he wishepered in the soldier's ear. He didn't want other officers to hear him
"What do you think wolfie?" replied the soldier with a playful smile on his face.
"That's my boy" he said and took some steps back. He cleared his throat. "Regiment! On the plane! Move your asses!"
The men picked up their stuff and started boarding the planes again, all of them with a smile on their face. Sokolov followed them
Some time later, when all men were onboard and the planes took off, Ivan stood up. Appart from hte bag carring his equipment, he also had a backpack with him. He opened it and took two bottles of traditional Stasnovan Vodka out of it. "Who's ready to party?" he said.
The men started cheering. Ivan started handing out bottles of vodka. He also handed one to Sokolov.
Ivan made a toast "To the Red Wolf!" he said. The men replied "To the Red Wolf!" the said
"No no no lads. I'm not the one to thank!" Sokolov interupted them. "I want to make a toast to our Valaran comrades! If it wasn't for them, we would be still sitting in the base. So, to Valaran!"
"To Valaran!" the men replied
The 501st was one of the most battle hardened and disiplined Vanguad units. But the also knew how to party.
"Ok laddies" the pilot said to them through the loudspeaker "We'll be in Valaran in 18 hours. Have fun back there. And Wolf! Save a bottle for me"

We shall greet your men and provide them with uniforms when they reach Astaria then. I shall meet your commander personally, and assign a liaison or two (since it is a military op, they also want in). I also think Arcadia-Europa should not be a threat, but I fear I have already involved enough nations in our dispute with Van Coenhorn. Hopefully your men will not be needed, but judging by the riots we have to prepare for the worst. The same goes for the Empire; if it does strike I am afraid my nation is woefully under prepared for such an action, and I doubt our ability or willingness to sustain a lengthy war. These are only possibilities and war is not guaranteed, but tensions are rising.

On Little Thatch

The members of the small community had gathered at the Christuskirche on Little Thatch, after which the small community was named. Almost all 200 of the settlers made an appearance at the small, elegant church, except a few, who had to run the town's operation during that one hour and a half each sunday when everything else seemed to die. The Colonists on the small outpost had heard about the rising tensions, and the government decision to move troops into the area, and it had left them worried. Today the Pastor, Father Enrichus Silvermann read a passage from the bible about the loaves and the fishes, and he went off on a sermon about the fishing rights of the islanders, and how the passage can mean other things, like there is enough land to go around without conflict, etc. It was all very political in nature, and Father Silvermann, one of the island's most prominent and respected citizens, was sometimes criticised during the after service sunday luncheons all over town for the sort of political tirades he would sometimes go on in the pulpit. But today, his sermon was very political, yet it resonated deeply even to the most politically apathetic citizens of the small outpost.

After the service, as usual, the colonists went home to their large sunday lunches of broiled fish, bread, and fruit. Father Silvermann's words still resonated on these townspeople. For the information of anyone, Christuskirche sat on on the shorter end of the island, on the tip. Many colonists that day saw something they had expected, but had not seen since the pirates were expelled 60 years ago: Ships of the imperial navy, sailing in in the distance.

Most of the men were sleeping in their planes. In Sokolov's plane, a crackling was heard from the loudpeaker, something that woke them up.
"Ok you pieces of shit" they heard the voice of the pilot "We have arrived. The weather is nice and the temperature is bearable." They felt the landing gears touching the ground. After some seconds, the plane stopped.
"Now, get your asses of my plane! And get those damn empty Vodka bottles with you!".
The men laughed "Screw you Sergey!" they said. The Red Wolf was slowly walking down the ramp with a smile on his face.
The pilot thought that he had turned his mic off when he said "Fucking cunts! They first fill my plane with empty Vodka bottles and refuse to clean up and Wolf didn't keep a single bottle for me! NOT A SINGLE ONE!" The men were laughing their asses off when the Red Wolf turned around, facing the direction of the cockpit "Don't worry Sergey! I left one in your wife's room!".
The pilot raised his eyebrow "Really? How nice of you Wolf."
"Waaaiiit for it" said Sokolov
"I didn't actually think that you would actually keep one for me" the pilot continued "-Oh wait! In my wife's wha-?!?! YOU PIECE OF SHIT! I WILL BLOODY....."
The men got off the Antonov , laughing. Wolf was drinking the remaining Vodka in one of the bottles when he noticed that some Valaran Officials were close to him. He quickly hid the bottle behind his back and smiled awkwardly. He nodded to Ivan, who came and took the bottle, putting in his second backpack as quetily as he could. Wolf turned around, facing his men with a serious look "GET IN LINE! MOVE MOVE MOVE! the men followed the order and formed up. He walked to the Valarans "Gentlemen, how are you this fine evening?" he said and smiled

An airfield 20 miles West of Astaria

Colonel William Andurian stood with deputy foreign secretary Sathren as they waited for the arrival of their allies. Both watched as the distant speck of the Stasnovan aircraft growing into silhouettes as they drew nearer.

"So wait how much do you know of the Stasnovan allies" asked William, slightly nervously.

"Of them, not much other than they are our allies and that they like vodka; that's all Seward tells me. You should ask him, or maybe Saren."

"Well Saren has gotten another mission, and we all know where Seward was last night..." the men looked at each other and grinned; it was the worst kept secret in the world why Seward was absent.
Sathren continued. "Anyway, I'm only here to greet the Stasnovans. I'll be off shortly after this."

"Your'e not staying?"

"No, I've on too many crises to deal with now all my seniors are absent. I have assigned a replacement who will act your liaison. She should be here now.... are there she is. Good to see you made it Clara." he went up greeted a young woman warmly. "This is Clara Varkalen, sister to Siastan, whom we all know well. She will be your liaison with the Stasnovans during this conflict."

"Hey, sorry I was late." She walked up to the colonel and held out her hand "Nice to meet you, colonel Andurian."

"uh likewise." Will replied, stammering slightly. He was still quite young after all.

Before he could think up a better reply, the first Antonov landed, it wheels screeching loudly as they hit the runway. The Stasnovans disembarked soon afterwards, seeming to be quite lively after their flight.
Sathren waited patiently until he saw what appeared to be their commander step out of the plane. He walked up slowly until the man noticed his presence and held out his hand in greeting:

"Welcome, I am deputy foreign sectary Sathren. Commander Sokolov I believe? It is good of you to come, though I am afraid we are slightly behind schedule here. Unfortunately both our foreign minister and most celebrated ambassador were not able to be here. How was your flight?"
