Across Mcnernia and the Empire
The conferences had been in secrecy and quiet, the Mcnernian Royal Constabulary was not the only one discontented. The Army, Navy and Air Force and Marine Corps and Coast Guard were all present at these conferences held under the guise of business sorts of parties that were older men getting together and sharing stories and drinking heavily. But not much in the way of gin was consumed or any alcohol for that matter and certain persons from the Cuscatlani Embassy were in attendance. This would take place for several months.
The reason for this was a war, the Mcnernian National Peoples Liberation Army had score several victories and "liberated" Several north Western provinces from the control of the central government in Griffindon, in the colonies there was discontent among the people that was quelled by MRC Special Branch assets working to infuriate the MNPLA cells being formed there the three Dominions of Polaria, Arisal and New Ildris all boasted their own Defense Forces and Intelligence Services that were capable of protecting the territory.
They along with Colonial Defense Forces and Police would be meeting with persons of the Cuscatlani DINA to discuss the situation in regards to such things as stamping out Communist sentiment as sabotage squads pushed further to the south and faith was being lost in the parliament that was supposed to govern the country and the other parliaments that would govern the Dominions and the Assemblies that governed the colonies. Only in the Idrian Raj did Emilion IV rule over the native princes with absolute power.
The mood on the streets was fearful as the best of armies was forced onto the defensive as air battles began to be waged against the so called Mcnernian National Peoples Liberation Air Force and the National Peoples Liberation Air Defence Forces. None the less the communists it was said could conduct air-raids on Griffindon and threaten the MRAF command, Space Command in Little Ballton and the Headquarters of the Strategic Command at MRAF Glaston. Armed Forces morale reports indicated that the Armed Forces voiced the opinion a liberal democracy was not what was needed.
Griffindon, Mcnernia
The sound of armored vehicles in the streets of the Capitol was almost routine as riots had begun to be a major problem so vehicles had to be made ready. But when one looked out their windows they would see columns of black painted MRC armored vehicles and black clad officers looking like soldiers holding onto running boards or walking along side or riding within. Overhead MRzc helicopters passed heading towards the Parliament building. Also jets of the Royal Air Force flew in the sky showing the Armed Forces were in this together. Coast Guard and Navy ships sales up the Thaldon River to blockade the city.
The Constabulary, Army and Marines in addition to the Royal Metropolitan Police proceeded to lock down the massive metropolis as the people took to the streets, some saw this as an assault on democracy and formed armed gangs that were swiftly taken on by Martinezist-Sonacist militia who had been trained by the DINA or the Security Forces themselves. Emilion IV was away from the Capitol, reports came in of similar things as the Colonial units moved to secure the assemblies in their buildings and Colonial First Ministers as well. Governors supported the CDF actions. Also in the Dominions this was happening. And in the provinces
Members of Parliament were arrested in their office buildings before being dragged away along with their staffs, the mayor of Griffindon was supportive of the coup at the last minute as the Mayors residence was targeted by a troop of about four HT9A7 tanks that rolled up to his residence. Metropolitan Police lead by the city Chief Commissioner entered his residence and then proceeded to arrest him. By the end of day one of the coup legislators and ministers of the cabinet were in Armed forces custody with reports of gangs shooting at security forces patrols. The House of Lords and The Lord Chancellor were given the mandate of making the laws with a Military Consultative Council, a military junta led by the cheif of staff Field Marshal Sir Tobias Price in full charge along with his followed Armed Forces and Secuirty a service leaders they were the government.
