Federation Military Conducts Annual Exercises

Nycia, Camucia – Today marks the annual Federation military exercise as thousands of Federation legionnaires begin a 3 week military drill meant to assure the Federation's armed forces are in pristine condition.

Legions from across the Federation arrived near the city of Nycia in the northern province of Camucia overnight to prepare for the exercises that include but are not limited to: beach assaults, live artillery demonstrations, and tactical bombing.

Chief of Staff Legate Quintus Tatius said that these drills will help the military be ready for any engagement the Federation might be forced to take part in, and that the Emperor himself sees them as a way for the people to see the armed forces are always ready to defend these land no matter the stakes.

Centurion Domitius Festus said in an interview, “I do believe that our armed forces, which has been in peace time for nearly 50 years, needs to be prepare for anything, whether that be domestic or foreign attacks, the Federation will always be ready.”

When asked if his legion, the 22nd Legion, was battle ready he replied, “Honestly I'm not sure, these are fresh troops right out of basic training, but that is what these drills are for, to let them experience a sense of what to expect during war.”

Most of these drills will occur in the region of Camucia, well away from foreign territory to insure that no international incidents will occur.

However in recent years these drills were criticized by the Acutorian government, who claims that these drills are a “threat to our claim on islands disputed by us and the Federation.”

These drills have caused mixed feelings among the other nations; The Neo Prussian States in the north support them and even participate during some of the drills, but Astavia to the west has warned the Federation that naval vessel are prohibited from entering its water during the 3 week process.

Reports show that half of the Federal armed forces are fully combat ready, but by the time the 3 week exercises have concluded the Department of War states that 90% will be combat ready.

“The Emperor demands a strong military, and a strong military he will receive” says Centurion Constantius of the 3rd Quick Response Force.

Over 50,000 troops of all three branches are said to be participating in these drills that start this afternoon.

Civilians are allowed to view some of the exercises, but are restricted from most of the area where the drills are being conducted.

The Emperor has prohibited the use of nuclear weapons during these drills.

Basilica San Gregorio Magno, Vaticaina - Elation and jubilee filled the air within Basilica San Gregorio Magno early this morning as Pope Urban VIII celebrated a much anticipated consecration mass which saw the elevation of 17 Catholic archbishops from around the region to the College of Cardinals. The College, significant not only for its ecclesiastical role of electing a Supreme Pontiff during Conclave (typically from amongst its own ranks, though the only Canonical requirements for election to the papacy are that the candidate be both male and a baptized Catholic), is also unique in the sense that it currently contains numerous chief prelates of Curia congregations, archbishoprics, reform committees, and other crucial administrative positions within the Catholic Church.

The ceremony, which took place in the main Papal Basilica of Vaticaina, was also special for an entirely different reason, as the mass also served as the elevation ceremony of two previous bishops to archbishoprics within the Latin Empire of Great Bunter. The Empire, which by its constitution is governed by an elected emperor, contains eight individual territories governed by “Prince-Electors,” each of whom ultimately has the right and duty to elect a new Imperator upon the death of the previous one. The Latin Empire is highly unique among its neighbors, as two of the electorate regions, the Prince-Archbishopric of Alium and the Prince-Archbishopric of Estum, are (as their names suggest) administered by archbishops.

The much anticipated names of the bishops tapped for the positions made their way through the news wires earlier this week after their release by the Pontifical Communications Office. Cheers erupted in the basilica as Cardinal Wilfried Leinzmen (previously an auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Alium) and Cardinal Sebastion Stringer (previously an auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Estum), were elevated to the office of Archbishop in their respective regions. The appointments overall received a positive reaction from Catholic traditionalists throughout the region, although self-proclaimed ecclesiastical reform advocates were less than pleased. During their tenures as auxiliary archbishops, both clerics expressed stiff opposition on more than one occasion to reforming Catholic dogma on topics such as the definition of marriage, the importance of clerical celibacy, and protection of human life from conception to natural death. Seen as powerful voices for traditional Catholic doctrine, neither of the newly appointed archbishops is expected to change course in the foreseeable future.

The vetting process for the selection of the two bishops has taken well over six months, which considering the historical importance of the positions to be filled and the amount of time past appointments have taken at this level, appears to have been something of a relatively quick decision for an institution as ancient and rich in tradition as the Catholic Church. According to regulations set down by Pope Adrian II after the establishment of bishoprics within the Latin Empire in 389 AD, the papacy has chiefly been responsible for investing bishops with their spiritual authority and pastoral duties, while the Emperor of Great Bunter invests them with symbols of their temporal authority and power within his empire. To reach an agreement on common candidates, historically the papacy has selected individuals for the positions at the combined recommendation of the Congregation for Bishops and the Latin Empire’s Imperial Council. While the two men elevated today are considered by the Catholic Church to be the acting pastors and administrators of their bishoprics, by custom they will not have full temporal authority over their territories until the completion of an imperial investiture ceremony set to take place later this month.

Imperial Council Announces Election of People's Delegate
First Election to National Position in Buntian History

Kruma, Great Bunter - This Sunday, after considering several suggestions given to him by the Imperial Council, Emperor William Bunter has decided to pass into law an edict that will allow the Imperial People's Delegate to be elected by the citizens of Great Bunter. This new law, quickly earning itself the title of "The People's Edict," will be refined and introduced in "no more than a week" (Prince Cenric).

Many citizens of Great Bunter note their enthusiasm and excitement for the Emperor's "modern approach" to government and leadership. For the past several months citizens across Great Bunter (especially in the Archduchy of Malundar) have voiced their complaints against the monarchy and demanded greater national representation. Most protests were supervised by local police officials, who report only one incident when peaceful demonstration turned violent. These protests, along with several statements made by government officials in Argretaly demanding greater representation for the people of Great Bunter, inspired Emperor William to adapt the traditional government to permit greater representation.

In the speech delivered by Prince Cenric, it was said that the new People's Delegate may come from any background, must be a Buntian citizen, will have a term of three years. must be elected with a majority of the votes, and may be elected as many times as the people wish. The Emperor and Imperial Council have no say in who shall be elected, but William still retains the power to dismiss the Delegate for political reasons. After his election, the People's Delegate will move to the Palace of Noren in Kruma and will enjoy the protection of the 1st Imperial Grenadiers.

An unnamed Imperial official has been quoted saying that the election process will begin a week after the edict is passed, and the Delegate will take office some time in May. Candidates may use ads approved by local justiciars, and may promote themselves in all locations except churches and Imperial offices.

When questioned about his father's new law, Lord William II Bunter (heir of the Kingdom of Krumaar) told people not to "expect any edict changing the nature of the Empire" and that this law "is a great addition to the Empire, but will never lessen the state of Imperial power."

Nova Roma, Imperial Province – Today marks the 90th anniversary of the start of the Terran Civil War which started on April 7th, 1924 and ended on July 18th, 1930.

The war, which was fought between Federal forces and Communist forces throughout the Federation was the bloodiest conflict in Federation history, and saw the formation of the Senate structure we see today.

The Terran Civil War saw the loss of almost 1.5 million Bellatorians from both sides, this includes not only soldiers but also women and children from across the Federation.

Since the end of the war the Factionis Popularis has received negative responses from Federal and Imperial party members, but has become a lesser threat.

The Emperor himself will commemorate not only Federation forces who lost their lives, but also soldiers from Great Bunter who supported Federal forces during the middle stages of the war, ultimately turning the tide.

Emperor William Michael Bunter of Great Bunter will arrive in Nova Roma later today to make a speech honoring allied forces at Nova Roma National Cemetery and to accept a token of appreciation from Emperor Maximus III for the Latin Empire's cooperation in the war.

Security will be high in Nova Roma to anticipate the arrival of Emperor William and the hotel he is staying in will be guarded by the Federal Guard of the 24th Legion.

Both leaders will head to the Imperial Palace in Nova Roma later that day to discuss further diplomatic agreements including a rumored trade deal and a proposed submarine build plan, however not much is known what they will truly discuss.

Military parades will also be conducted throughout the nation and military exercises will be postponed til the following day.

Other world leaders will express their condolences by offering a moment of silence for the fallen legionnaires who risked their lives to defend this world from the Communist threat.

A commemorative mass will be conducted at 10:00am UST (Undrian Standard Time) in the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Nova Roma and will be televised nationwide here on the Federation News Agency.

Chaycia, Albium – Federal military leaders today confirm the launch of two Alpha IV rockets both carrying satellites designed for the tracking of ballistic missiles Wednesday afternoon for the Federation Missile Defense Initiative.

The two Alpha IV rockets blasted off at approximately 9:15am UST from Ranesia Air Force Station in Albium each carrying two Early Warning and Space Tracking (EWST) satellites which have reached orbit an hour ago.

“We have received conformation that the satellites are indeed in the correct orbit, the launch was a complete success!” says Balbus Vitus, launch director of the FSA's Launch Program.

The satellites themselves are designed to track every stage of flight of ballistic missiles from across Undria and is the Federation's first step to constructing a Missile Defense Shield around the Federation and its allies.

“Hopefully we can end the threat of nuclear war entirely and we can finally live in a world where we don't have to live in constant fear of mushroom clouds rising from the distance.” says Legate Germanus Lucanus, commander of Ranesia Air Force Base.

The EWST project which started in the Fall of 2010 has cost about €894 million and has received decent public criticism in recent years.

According to Centurion Livius Glacia “the EWST is just a steping stone in the defense of our glorious nation, the next steps would be the increase of intercepter missiles throughout Terra Bellatorum and the potential increase in orbital defense platforms, but that is a long ways in the future.”

The Senate will later vote on the funding for more EWST satellites in the coming months.

Andria, Lannium Province - Tensions within the Undrian international community have been on the rise after it was revealed by Bellatorian military authorities that at approximately 9:15am UST, two Federation Alpha IV rockets launched from Ranesia Air Force Base successfully deployed Early Warning and Space Tracking (EWST) satellites into a geosynchronous orbit around the earth. While Bellatorian leaders have heralded the successful launch as a victory for the Federation’s increasingly ambitious space program, concerns have been raised by strategic arms watchdog organizations regarding the intentions of the Launch Program as well as the impact an operationally successful Missile Defense Shield would have on the delicate balance of military power in the region.

achieve technological dominance over other countries, the program has been cloaked under the auspices of ‘peaceful deterrence’ or non-aggressive defensive measures. The explanations coming from the Federation are one-hundred percent in line with the kind of rhetoric you’d expect in a situation like this. They’re saying all is fine, there’s nothing to fear, when in reality their primary goal is to tip the scales of military power in their favor.”

Alarmed by the suddenness of the Federation’s latest moves, Astavian Military authorities have reportedly mobilized elements of several mobile air-defense battalions in at least two imperial provinces. After journalists with the associated press confirmed the movement of no less than seven transporter erector launchers bearing the markings of Pontifical Ground Forces in the mountains just west of the city of Andria, top brass within the Astavian military quickly issued a public statement in an effort to assuage the public’s concerns. During a press conference late this afternoon, General Martinius de Caprio, the current Director-General of Astavia’s Strategic Air-Defense Command, commented on the nature of this military response. “I can confirm at this time” General de Caprio said, “that commands have been issued to several military units stationed in both Lannium and Italoria to deploy to multiple locations throughout these territories for the purposes of conducting coordinated drill scenarios”. The General later confirmed that “these forces are equipped with an array of kill-vehicles designed specifically for the purposes of waging anti-satellite (ASAT) warfare, and that the general aim of the drills is to test Astavian military capability against foreign spacecraft and orbital objects”. The specific positions of these units have not been disclosed to the public at this time. The General continued to reassure the public that the mobilization of Astavian military forces “…is not an attempt to provoke a conflict of any kind with the Federation or any other nation,” but rather “a consorted effort to demonstrate to the world that Astavia shall not stand idly by as increasingly ambitious world powers threaten the stability of the international community by trying to alter the balance of military power in Undria”.

Kruma, Great Bunter – After several hours of heightened tension across Undria as a result of a Bellatorian rocket launch, and subsequent actions taken by the Astavian armed forces, Emperor William Bunter announced that Great Bunter “condemns such dangerous and showy military actions.”

“The age of grand military conflicts and nuclear weapons has passed”, the Emperor stated. “Let the people of Undria unite under the banner of peace and prosperity. Together, let us put an end to the production of nuclear and chemical weapons, and usher in a new era of safety for the good of mankind. Let us, unified by the fearful cry of mothers and fathers who fear for the safety of their families, assemble as men and women of God to put an end to the weapons that have terrified the world for decades.”

The Emperor further criticized the Astavian and Bellatorian reluctance to use diplomacy in this time of crises. William also urged both leaders to cease their military standoff before their actions escalate further.

In a portion of the speech William also addressed rumors regarding Argretaly, and their supposed claim on Great Bunter; He noted the need for cooperation and mutual trust between the neighboring countries, and ensured the international community of his wish for peace. William also mentioned that the “Grand Imperial Armed Forces would easily prevent any incursion into Great Bunter soil.”

The Imperial government has adopted a strong anti-nuclear weapon stance in the coming months, but has been forced by the need to defend their people, and the unwillingness of Undrian governments, to maintain its nuclear program. In the coming months the Buntian Navy will be finishing the joint Buntian-Bellatorian HIMV Archangel project; this submarine will be armed with 10 deployable MIRV nuclear warheads as well as 20 RSM-52 submarine-launched ballistic missile to be used in cases of national emergency.

Nova Roma, Imperial Province- Moments ago General Emanuele Tarantola of Astavia arrived in Nova Roma to meet with Legate Quintus Tatius and other Federation military brass to privately discuss negotiations.

This is taking place hours after Emperor William's of Great Bunter speech where he condemned both Astavia and the Federation for using “dangerous and showy military actions.”

“These choice of words by the Emperor is not helping with relations between our nations, and condemning your allies is not a good way to keep these allies, the Federation and the Emperor himself will not tolerate this choice of wordplay.” stated Chancellor Lucius Aurelius while speaking at a press conference.

This increase in tensions was started after Astavian government and other regional powers saw the use of the EWST satellites the Federation launched earlier today as a potentially destabilizing factor in an already tense region.

However an agreement is currently in the works between Federal military leaders and the Astavian military.

“There is no reason to believe that our two peoples, who have existed for much of their past as genuine partners in prosperity, cannot at this point in history engage with one another in a meaningful and mutually beneficial manner,” General Tarantola said in a brief exchange with the associated press after his arrival in Nova Roma.

“We are very optimistic that these negotiations will allow the Federation and Astavia to mend relations and hopefully stabilize the region.” said Legate Tatius.

BREAKING NEWS: Assassination Attempt on Emperor William Bunter
Several Imperial Family Members Killed, Emperor In Stable Condition

Krume, Great Bunter – After William’s second speech regarding the Astavian and Bellatorian arms stand off and negotiations, Emperor William Bunter, accompanied by his immediate family, Lord Chancellor, Head Imperial Justiciar, and the Grand Marshal, was attacked.

The attack was timed at 5:11 pm when the Imperial motorcade was driving on Ark Street SW, on their route back to the Imperial Palace. At the intersection of Ark SW and Patrick, two vehicles armed with improvised explosive devices broke through the police barricade, rammed into the car at the head of the motorcade, and detonated. The drivers of both terrorist vehicles were killed immediately, as well as several police officers, civilians, and members of the 1st Imperial Grenadiers. The Imperial Grand Marshal Columban Ciarán of Galialla sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized immediately while the Head Imperial Justiciar William II Bunter received severe wounds, but is expected to fully recover.

The blast from the explosive device destroyed several cars in the convoy and heavily damaged or disabled most others, including the car of the Imperial family. After the explosion the remaining on duty members of the 1st Imperial Grenadiers and Palace Guard took the Imperial family to a safe house in a currently unknown location, and no official statement has been made on the Imperial family’s condition.

In Emperor William Bunter’s speech moments before, he strongly supported the peacekeeping actions of Astavia and the Federation, and announced his intention to visit Vaticaina in the coming months. When asked if he took credit for the negotiations, he quickly denied any such notion: “I am thankful that both Astavia and the Federation too carry my wish for peace and cooperation between all Undrian counties. I retract my claims of condemnation and give thanks to God for these two countries’ newfound willingness for diplomacy. Undria is again in a state of peace, and although nuclear weapons still plague the earth, we may rest easy tonight knowing that they too will rest in their silos.”

“…I speak on behalf of not only my fellow Buntians, but all the people of Undria when I give my sincerest thanks to the military leaders in all three of our nations; not only do they protect our wellbeing and serve willingly, but in this case, they preserve the peace of all the world. I, and my Imperial Council, apologize for our harsh condemnation and in turn extend our hand to both countries. Through the centuries we have grown together, there is no need for us now to grow apart. Let the Pope that crowned me live long, and the Emperor who has led his country faithfully during his reign live long as well! United Undria will prosper, divided we will fail our ancestors and doom our people...”

The Imperial Armed Forces have now been placed on high alert by Archduke Cenric Malundar, and the streets of Kruma will be closed for several hours for national defense purposes.

The origin and purpose of perpetrators of the attempt has not yet been discovered, though it is believed that the far-left political party The Berassian People’s Movement is behind the plot. In recent years the party has sponsored several riots and protests, and has repeatedly demanded greater political and social freedoms from the Imperial government.

UPDATE: Two leaders of the The Berassian People’s Movement have been taken into military custody. Reason behind the arrests have not yet been announced by the Imperial Armed Forces.

UPDATE: Several instances of looting and riots have been reported throughout Great Bunter, including an assault on the The Berassian People’s Movement HQ in Norun, Beras; eight members of the party were lynched by a pro-Imperial mob. Police have also fired upon an unidentified male who was supposedly "attempting to break into the Imperial Council Offices." The suspect was killed on site.

UPDATE: William II Bunter, son of Emperor William and heir to the Kingdom of Krumaar has passed away in the Great Bunter National Hospital. Despite original predictions that William II would make a speedy recovery, while stabilizing his condition (visible wounds included shrapnel wounds across the arms and chest) doctors discovered that William II had a skull fracture due to extreme trauma to the head. He died at 8:22 pm of a cerebral hemorrhage.

UPDATE: Imperial government has announced that Emperor William Michael Bunter is safe at Krumaar Castle. Imperial Armed Forces will maintain military control over Kruma and the neighboring regions for as long as their assistance is needed. Today, the following four prominent citizens of the Latin Empire of Great Bunter have died: Enda C. McMahon, Imperial People's Delegate; Lord William II Bunter, Prince of Krumaar and Head Imperial Justiciar; Prince Patrick Bunter, Prince of Krumaar; and King Wilfred II of Agriran, King of Beras (remains found in original blast radius). These deaths accompany the 32 civilian, police, and military casualties, and the 70+ injuries. Imperial officials report that Emperor William Bunter plans to make a private address in the safety of Castle Krumaar shortly.

Nova Roma, Imperial Province – The entire Federation is under heighten security alert after news of an assassination attempt on Emperor William of Great Bunter a few hours ago.

Under orders of the Emperor all government buildings are under lock-down, martial law is also in effect and a no fly zone has been authorized over all major cities in the Federation until further notice.

Federal Guardsmen and Military personnel have been dispatched to all major cities and towns in the Federation by orders of Legate Tatius.

No word has been said on the condition of Emperor William and his family, Emperor Maximus III just said moments ago “It is a sad day in Undria; my condolences goes out to Great Bunter and I pray that both William and his family are safe. The Federation and all of Undria will not stand for such acts of terrorism and barbarism."

FNA's Ioannes Septimus is in the Bunter captial of Kruma and has reported via phone "The situation here in Kruma is that of a battlefield. Here on Ark SW, Bunter emergency responders are trying to help those who were injured by the blast. Police have blocked off the entire area and Archduke Cenric Malundar has declared martial law. There is currently no word on the Emperor's condition or where he and the Royal family went. As of now most of the Latin Empire is on high alert as a major crackdown on who did this barbaric act will occur in the coming days."

No one has yet has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but sources said that a radical left wing group in Great Bunter might have conducted the act.

At least 20 people died in the attack including 3 Bellatorians.

UPDATE - The Bunter Herald has just reported that Emperor William is alive and is currently at Krumaar Castle where he is safe. However at least four high ranking government officials were among the dead including the heir to the Bunter throne William II. Emperor William will soon be making an address in the next few hours. The current death toll of this attack is 32 people with at least 70 injured.

Vaticaina, Astavia - Shock and dismay spread like wildfire across Astavia immediately following the terrorist bombing of an imperial motorcade carrying members of Great Bunter’s government, including his Imperial Majesty, Emperor William Michael Bunter. According to Buntian press officials, the attack took place at 5:11pm Thursday at the intersection of Ark SW and Patrick streets in the capital city of Kruma after two vehicles armed with makeshift explosive devices breached defenses established by the Emperor’s security forces. Little is known at this time regarding the size and scale of the casualties resulting from the attacks outside of what has already been released by The Bunter Herald. VNN has obtained confirmation from its local offices in Great Bunter that the operators of both terrorist vehicles are among the dead, in addition to a currently undisclosed number of police and civilian casualties. Several members of the 1st Imperial Grenadiers are also suspected to have perished in the attack.

Though the names of the victims have yet to be released, their memory has already had a mobilizing force of spirit that has spurred on anti-terror activist groups around the region. Eight hours after the unprecedented attacks against the Emperor’s life, over 28,000 Astavian and international citizens packed into Saint Gregory’s Square after His Holiness, Pope Urban VIII, declared an all night prayer vigil to be observed by all able-bodied Catholics in Undria for those who had lost their lives in the bombings, as well as for the victims who are at this time struggling to recover from their injuries. “Its hard to imagine a more appalling criminal act,” Amy Ipson, a student at the Pontifical Academy of Art told reporters during the vigil. “We’re here to show the world that we believe death and destruction should never be considered means for achieving prosperity. As Disciples of Christ, we’re called to express our love not just for God, but also for our fellow brothers and sister on earth. Christ demands love for all, and it is for us to obey”.

His Holiness also extended his personal prayers to indivuidual members of Great Bunter’s imperial family. Pope Urban’s personal appearance at the outdoor vigil was something of a surprise for many in the Catholic community, as the 96-year-old Pontiff’s ailing health due to advanced age has limited his attendance of public events in recent years. In a written statement to the Buntian Government, His Holiness expressed both “his deepest condolences to all who have lost loved ones as a result of this senseless and tragic act of terror, and that in the coming days, months, and years all people of Undria may come to see that acts of violence done to other people serve only to sow the seeds of mutual suffering.” The Pope also went as far to commend Emperor William’s “stunning gravitas, instructive humility, and exemplary leadership in his long years of service to the people of Great Bunter”.

Although the Pontifical Military’s decision to deploy ASAT weapon systems in Lannium and Italoria after the Federation’s recent rocket launches did not come directly from the Apostolic Palace, Pope Urban also publicly accepted responsibility for the order. Astavia’s recent military response to the Alpha IV launches this past Wednesday has been seen interpreted by some, including Emperor William, as a deliberate provocation of Federation aggression. “The words of Emperor William regarding nuclear and chemical weapons ring true today as they have in years past," the Pontiff wrote in his open letter. "I don’t believe any truly sane person would disagree that, for the sake of our children and our children’s children, it is a commendable task to seek a world without weapons of mass destruction.”

Talks currently underway in Nova Roma are reportedly stalled for the time being after martial law was declared in major Federation cities. The Astavian delegation to the diplomatic summit is reportedly safe for the time being, and talks will resume as soon as a fuller understanding of the latest terrorist attacks is ascertained by international authorities. Initial reports coming from Nova Roma are immensely positive however, as both Astavian and Federation authorities have made considerable progress towards coming to a satisfying agreement for all parties. On a directive issued from Pope Urban’s office after the Pontiff had spoken to the Astavian delegation in Nova Roma, P.G.F. forces mobilized in the eastern provinces of Lannium and Italoria have stood down and are reportedly returning to military bases in the region (supposedly as a sign of good faith to the Federation that the Holy Pontifical Theocracy is serious about cementing a lasting peaceful relationship).

Astavian officials are actively participating in the international manhunt for any possible accomplices to the terrorists who carried out this week’s attacks. The High Inquisitorial Office has issued orders to Astavian banks to freeze all assets associated with the Berassian People’s Movement – a radial left-wing political organization suspected by Buntian authorities to have organized the attempt on the Emperor’s life. It is unclear at this time if any arrests have been made by internal security forces in connection with the attack. More will follow as events develop.

As you all know, today, at 5:11 pm, an attack was perpetrated against the very soul of our nation. Half of the Imperial Council and several of the Eight Realms’ leaders accompanied me on my return to the Imperial Palace, and we were blindsided by an act of terrorism. Two of my sons, two of my boys, two of my life’s greatest miracles, were slain; my son Patrick died before my eyes in the period of absolute chaos that followed the eruption that would steal so many souls. My father-in-law passed from this earth in mere seconds, and now my wife can do nothing but weep.

Today, with senseless violence, fanatics took three members of my family. So now I begin my unceasing mission to find the vile architects who planned my demise, and instead of taking my life, took my sons. The Imperial Armed Forces of The Latin Empire of Great Bunter shall remain on high alert until these cowards have been dragged out of their holes and are placed before my throne. These filthy wretches have forced me to remain captive in my own home, to remain prisoner out of fear for my children.

Imperial soldiers and police officers shall remain ever vigilant against further terrorist activities across Great Bunter. I wish not these atrocities upon my greatest enemies, and I promise to defend the families of Great Bunter until my dying breath from these criminals who terrorize the helpless with fanatic enthusiasm.

I demand that those responsible for this great tragedy announce themselves before me and before God, that God may judge them for their transgression, and I may punish them for their misdeeds on earth.

I give my sincerest thanks to the Imperial Armed Forces for their assistance, and I shall give my personal condolences to every family that has lost a son, father, mother, brother, or sister. I will devote my life to the goal of preventing the reoccurrence of any such acts of terror across the lands. And further I beg that members of the international community act swiftly to deter any similar event in their homes.

I beg that the world would permit me and my people time to mourn the loss of our loved ones before elevating new Imperial officials to the now vacant offices.

I announce that at the turn of the hour, a day of mourning shall commence, in which all businesses are closed and all government offices will be locked. For your security I beg that you remain indoors with your family for a period of time. I thank the world for their prayers and assure you that I pray for the safety of the Buntian people.

Cherish the time you have with those you love, for time always marches on, and the people of this world can be endlessly cruel. I bid you all a goodnight, and pray for your wellbeing.

New Beras, Great Bunter – While recovering in the Great Bunter National Hospital, Imperial Grand Marshal Columban Ciarán, with Imperial permission, ordered the immediate detainment of all current and former members of the Berassian People’s Movement. Columban gave this order at 9:23 am alongside another order to mobilize the 2nd and 3rd Infantry Regiment of the North Beras Division of the Imperial Armed Forces to assist the Kingdom of Beras to pacify the terrorist threat.

Major General Sir Éamon Finbar, HOC, told reporters that him and his troops were “deeply wounded by the loss of lives in Kruma”, and are “determined to capture or eliminate the radicals who orchestrated this bombing.” While the two regiments moved from Fort St. James to New Beras, the Buntian Special Defense Force was ordered to swiftly capture the leaders of the People’s Party before they went into hiding. Seven out of the eleven vital leaders who allegedly planned the attack were captured, including the National Commander Alfons Tolly, are currently in custody. One of the leaders, Bran Augusto, attempted to kill a BSDF-1 operative using a handgun and was shot and killed soon after the shootout began.

Two other leaders of the party fled before BSDF-1 operatives arrived at their places of residence. It is believed that they may be hiding in houses of supporters in the Kingdom of Beras, possibly attempting to flee to either Argretaly or Acutoria. The two criminals who go by the names John Reynolds and Sean Fitzpatrick are likely armed and dangerous. The Imperial Armed Forces has advised that all residents of the Kingdom of Beras remain in their homes for the next 24 hours.

The Berassian People’s Movement has yet to confirm or deny their involvement with the attack.

In the following days the seven leaders will be put on public trial in Kruma, where they will be punished if found guilty.

Current Buntian law enforcement mindset --> arrest all suspected party members, even if they didn’t claim responsibility. Then arrest whoever associated with them, grandma and the guy who catered their doughnut and coffee luncheons included. You can never be too careful in this day and age.

Port Ambrose – After months of competition, research, and testing various rifle cartridges, the Argretalian Army, Marine Corp., Navy, and Special Forces have settled on the new round that will be issued to sniper units for conflicts that involve tactical precision at vast distances.

The new round is designated the 6.5x66mm round or, the .26 Nosler to civilian shooters. The 6.5x66mm was recently developed by the recognized American ammunition and component manufacturer, Nosler, who had the long-range big game hunter in mind when it was designed. Though the cartridge is rather new and of sporting heritage, the same attractive attributes sought by hunters, namely reduced recoil, high B.C./S.D. projectiles, component efficiency, super flat trajectory, etc., did not go unnoticed by the military.

The cartridge has a maximum effective range (MER) out to 1300-1500m, nearly replicating the .338 Lapua Magnum (8.6x70mm) while generating much, much less recoil. This coupled with the lighter, cheaper rifles and ammo permits the employment of more snipers that have become all the more accurate and mobile then ever before.

Reports from troops have been positive of the new round. Most express being pleasantly surprised how such a small round can be so effective. One soldier (who wishes to remain anonymous) remarked: “The 6.5x66mm has been to our sniper units what the F-22 Raptor was to fighter planes; it raises the bar to a whole new level that we didn’t think could be achieved by such a small bullet.”

When asked about the continued usage of large caliber rounds for combat purposes, the same trooper replied: “Our forces will still be using the big .50’s as anti-material rounds and other specialized tasks, without question, but comparing their purpose to that of the 6.5 is like comparing a hammer to a screwdriver. They have their own jobs that they work very well at. Now, as for the other anti-personnel rounds, like the 7.62’s and 8.6’s, they’re likely to be on the way out within the next few years. They are fine cartridges but the 6.5 has all the range that they have but with lower cost and are more comfortable to the shooter. These are crucial elements to successful mission.”

The platform for the 6.5.x66mm will be the M17XR platform as with the previous 7.62x67mm, but with barrels and chambers properly adapted to fit the smaller cartridge.

Rebels Seize two Federation Provinces Overnight
Military Pushed Back to Vectis Border

Deletia, Vectis – The situation here in the eastern portion of the Federation is starting to worsen as late last night ultranationalist rebels were able to overwhelm Federal forces in the province of Arcadia.

All Federation loyalists were ordered to evacuate the region as the rebels began executing anyone loyal to the Emperor, national government, and the Catholic Church.

Military forces were ordered by Legate Quintus Tatius to establish two defensive lines in the province of Vectis: one facing the Vectis-Steinhof border and the second overlooking the Arcadian border.

At least 30 legions in total are deployed or are being deployed at this moment with an additional 13 air wings providing air cover for Federal legionnaires.

Legate Germanius of the Federation Armed Forces stated at a press conference,

“As of last night rebel forces were able to secure key sectors in the province of Arcadia, including a naval base that was home to the Federation's Eastern Fleet. The fleet luckily was already out at sea conducting retinue exercises when rebels entered the base. Now because of this 10 Federal legions have been assigned to defend the Vectis-Arcadia border from further rebel incursions. It is crucial for Vectis not to fall because of the large Catholic majority who feel threaten by these fascists pigs. I have spoken with Legate Tatius this morning and we are already forming plans for a counter-attack in both provinces in the next few days. As for the Astavian nationals in Steinhof, we were able to evacuate at least 250, and I'm sad to report that the others are either missing or have been executed by these monsters. Their names won't be released until their families are notified and I can ensure that we will bring them back home.”

Meanwhile in both rebel occupied provinces; water, electricity, and gas have been cut off and will be off until the military retakes them.

Augustus Fabius of the Silver Legion met with Emperor Maximus III this morning to discuss this rebellion. No word of what was said during the meeting, but unnamed sources claimed that the meeting deterioratied rapidly with Fabius being thrown out of the Imperial Palace.

The rebellions which broke out a few days ago are being conducting by the One World, One Federation organization which is a ultranationist/fascist group. They justify there actions by stating that the Federal government is too weak and cowardly to stand up to the Pope and because of this the sovereignty of the Federation is dying.

UPDATE - As rebellions and coups break out region-wide, we have had several reports in the northwest country of Morgovia is experiencing a military coup in which Pro-Christian forces are fighting Pro-Socialist Muslim forces that have seized power in the recent years. As a strong anti-radical supporter, the Emperor has shown support for the local Christians for standing up and fighting for their rights of practicing their religion free of persecution.

UPDATE - Operation Healing Dagger, the Federation counter-attack into rebel occupied Steinhof and Arcadia has begun. A force of at least 250,000 legionnaires have begun pushing into both provinces a few hours ago. Legate Germanius who is from Steinhof said as he watched the initial artillery barrage begin, "Mama I'm coming home." We have also have reports that Senator Fabius has died of mysterious causes, we will have additional coverage on that eventually.

Nova Tserkiev, Morgovia - about 13 people are estimated dead as fighting erupted in Nova Tserkiev, Morgovia. About one hour ago two division sized units begun assault on the city, with police special unit Zandarmeriya joining them by assaulting People' s Palace where premier is residing. According to the newest reports ministry of domestic affairs where government was holding dissidents was hit by bomb, and several key objects within the city fell under control of military. Shootouts between Socialist Guard formations and the military erupted in various parts of capital, with at least 13 people already confirmed dead.

It all begun when a group of tourists noticed tanks entering the city from the Nova Vola side. The tanks, alongside infantry, seemed to avoid full scale attack, rather supported by infantry moved in columns. Each column was attached - as we were able to confirm - to specific objective, as each of them fell under military control at the same time. However once they were secured - and Socialist Guard command points probably wiped out - about 20 minutes ago military launched a full scale invasion of Nova Tserkiev.

In Stara Vola there are most harsh firefights. We already confirmed that about battalion sized unit is attacking it from the west, supported by unknown number of not uniformed by armed men who appeared out of nowhere. We are not sure who is winning the battle.

According to Radoslav Korkovic - a citizen living near People's Palace - the palace itself was assaulted by elite police unit, Zandarmeriya. The unit roped down from helicopters and begun assault on not expecting premier. According to the newest information he was dragged out of the palace and taken prisoner.
Who is doing this? We are not sure, but we will see what are their intentions.

UPTADE: We wish to inform you that Morgivian Military Council has taken control over this news building and now this is under our full control. We are informing you that we are removing socialism to restore Morgovia as it once were: powerful and Christian nation. The Socialists failed to defend our citizens and allowed them to get butchered by Muslims. We won' t tolerate that. Honest citizens have to fear nothing, but traitors will tremble because we will get them sooner or later. General Milan Vukovic is now highest authority in Morgovia - one that everybody has to listen.

Kruma, Great Bunter – In the several days following the shocking terrorist attack in Kruma there has been an astounding volume of radical actions across Undria. From the One World, One Federation uprising to the coup in Morgovia, the Imperial Government requests that Undrian leaders come together to discuss military assistance, weapons trade, and economic cooperation to prevent further radical activity.

Emperor William noted that he would be willing, despite the recent terrorist threat, to visit any location necessary for this meeting, and offered the cities of New Beras and Kruma as possible locations. When asked if he feared for his safety by leaving his protected castle, he said “I fear not for my safety, but for the safety of all the people of Undria.”

In other news, the Berassian People’s Movement leader John Reynolds was killed in a skirmish with Imperial Armed Forces along the border of the Kingdom of Beras and Acutoria. Imperial Intelligence has released information suggesting that the only remaining leader of the BPM has fled to Acutoria. The captured officials have been sent to Kruma to stand as suspects in a Grand Imperial Trial, including testimony from several members of the BPM, victims of the attack, and other evidence. The trial will be conducted by 31 Imperial Justiciars from each realm, led by the newly elevated Head Imperial Justiciar Cardinal Sebastian Stritzinger.

The Imperial Government has also announced their intention to assist the Federation against the One World, One Federation movement if the Federal government required aid.

Firebase Bravo, Steinhof – As of last night, Operation Healing Dagger, the liberation of rebel occupied Steinhof and Arcadia has begun with over 250,000 legionnaires crossing the Vectis border attacking several rebel units.

The orders were given at around 8:00pm last night by Legate Tatius to assault the rebel lines of defense. The operation began with artillery fire which continued for several hours, and at 10:30pm Federation ground troops crossed into Steinhof and Arcadia, the first time since the rebellion broke out.

13 air wings were dispatched to destroy key rebel defenses and to establish a no-fly-zone to prevent rebel leadership from exiting the region to other neighboring nations.

As of now rebel forces have resorted to guerrilla style tactics to prevent Federation forces from gaining a significant foothold in the province.

Casualties are so far at a minimum here in Steinhof, however in Arcadia casualties have reached 50 dead, and 100 injured.

Arcadia, which is densely populated has become a perfect location for rebel guerrilla tactics, however the Federation Eastern Fleet is due to provide naval support for legionnaires in the region.

At least 500 rebels have been captured and have been driven to patriotism camps for reassimilation.

Legate Tatius stated at a press conference this morning,

“This morning rebel forces are in a rapid retreat allowing us to push farther in Steinhof. With this newly given initiative the Federal Military will likely arrive in Ritonia by tomorrow afternoon giving us the chance to take it back. However in Arcadia, rebel forces have heavily fortified the area in and around the city of Attica making it difficult for Federal forces to enter the city. I spoke with Admiral Tiberius this morning who said that the Eastern Fleet will be in range of the city by the morning, allowing us a limited window to weaken rebel defenses and a quick push into the Attica. This is the endgame people, it will all be over soon.”

Emperor William of Great Bunter despite surviving an assassination attempt last week as offered assistance to Federal force, Emperor Maximus stated in a written message,

“We appreciate Great Bunter and their kind gesture to the Federation, and the assistance of their navy to blockade the northern ports of Steinhof would be well appreciated.”

Emperor William who recently supports the need for a “Pan-Undrian Summit” wants to see the region in a state peace.

Astavian Senate Backs Coup In Morgovia
Tsarina Elizavieta Recognized as “Legitimate Leader of the Morgovian Nation”

Imperial Senate, Vaticaina - At approximately 8:30 Monday evening, National and Popular Front coalition leaders within the Astavian Imperial Senate voted to temporarily recognize the coup appointed government of General Milan Vukovic on the island nation of Morgovia. Morgovia, a nation previously ruled by a Socialist directorate, experienced a regime change Sunday after elements of the Morgovian military, acting on the orders of General Vukovic, descended upon the island’s capital, Nova Tserkiev. The Premier of the ousted regime, along with most of his staff, is suspected by Astavian intelligence sources to have been taken captive by units of the Zandarmeriya police force after the defenses of the People’s Palace were breached. It is unclear at this time where the Premier has been moved to, or if he is even still alive. Hours after Morgovian forces siezed local radio and media stations within Nova Tserkiev, official reports from the new government began to steam in pertaining to the size, scope, and aims of the military regime.

family line, is considered by the Astavian government to be the
rightful monarch of Morgovia.

Years of administrative ineptitude on the part of the socialist government, in addition to its historical inability to keep the island’s large Christian (mostly Orthodox and Eastern Rite Catholic) population safe from acts of domestic terrorism conducted by Islamic radicals, ultimately forced the military to take power. Charges of rampant corruption have also been levied against the ousted Morgovian government, which has been at the center of a massive scandal in recent months after it came to light that the Premier and member of his government accepted bribes from individuals with links to Islamic terror groups. Charges have also been levied by the new regime that the previous administration consistently sabotaged the country’s judicial system to keep personal associates outside the reach of prosecution.

Since the socialist regime took power in Morgovia after the “1969 Revolution,” the ousted Lazarevic royal family has been under the protection of the Astavian government, which voluntarily allowed the surviving members to reside within the province of Gallia Citerior. The Astavian government has never officially recognized the revolutionary regime established after the fall of the tsars, continuing to this day to regard the Lazarevic royal family as the rightful heirs of Morgovia. Presently, there is one surviving member of the original family line residing within Astavia: Tsarina Elizavieta. Sources within the Astavian State Ministry have informed VNN that the Tsarina has been in contact with the military forces led by General Vukovic, and that it is the intention of the rebels to both secure Morgovia from future attacks conducted by Islamic radicals, and to reinstall the Lazarevic ruling dynasty.

In a rare show of political unity on foreign policy, the Imperial Senate passed SR:3342 after an emergency session was gaveled into order this evening. SR:3342 effectively declares the Astavian government’s recognition of General Milan Vukovic’s control of the island territory that belongs to Morgovia. “For too long have the great Christian people of our island neighbor endured the miseries of radical left-wing revolutionaries who deny them their most basic human rights,” Senator Martin Ildarin spoke during the floor debate. “We owe it to them, as fellow Christians, and as a compassionate and honorable people to take up their cause as our own.” The resolution, supported at first by only the National Front, eventually earned the backing of Popular Front senators after an amendment was attached to the final draft that demands the Morgavian military junta turn over the reigns of power to a government formed by Tsarina Elizavieta as soon as the condition of the country has stabilized. While the resolution was intentionally vague when describing what would constitute a “stabilized” Morgovia, Astavian officials within the State Ministry are optimistic that General Vukovic, a longtime ally of the Lazarevic family, can be trusted to turn over power at the appropriate time. While reports on the Tsarina's current location have not been made public, the State Ministry did confirm Elizavieta left Astavia Monday afternoon after the Pontifical Air Force organized her transportation from Prometheus AFB in Gallia Citerior to an undisclosed location under the protection of General Vukovic’s forces within Morgovia. She is expected to make a public address to the people of Morgovia in the near future.

Nova Tserkiev, Morgovia - When the last remnants of Socialist Guards were broken by military and police forces in Nova Tserkiev, a big convoy was seen moving through the streets. The convoy was protected by Morgovian GROM special forces unit made of battle hardened veterans of fights with Islamic radicals. Shortly after that, the Tsarina made first broadcast from inside the Czrny Dvor ( Black Palace, where Lazarevic family was residing for ages ).

The broadcast was made live on TV cameras, which recorded Tsarina entering the palace under heavy guard of special forces units. Moments later she made her broadcast:

" Firstly, I would like to thank our Astavian friends"" she said with warm, but strong and full of charisma voice " the Astavian senate has proven that they are loyal allies. I must say, Thank you, Astavia, for helping me for such a long time when I was without home of my own. Secondly, I would like to thank general Milan Vukovic, who has proven himself to be a great patriot who cared about motherland more than for his life. General Vukovic will be rewarded for his loyalty. Thirdly, I want to thank the biggest group: all Morgovian people who supported the coup. I know how big your sacrifice was and I respect it, as you, people of Morgovia turned back from your mistake of supporting Socialist Revolution and restored who was your monarch. In return, I promise to care for you like a mother cares for her children. I won' t let Islamic radicals slaughter, you, I will fight them like a lioness fights for her cubs. We are now in dark times when our people are being killed for this who they are by hands of Muslim People' s Party. As soon as all will be restored in capital, Muslim people' s party will regret that they even dared to put their heads out of their caves. Like Konstantin I the Conqueror we will march on them and defeat them like Milorad Lazić did."

Tsarina also announced plans of Domestic reforms:

" I will hire best economists we have in Undria and discuss with them what can be done to repair our economy. We have vast resources of Gas, Oil, and Rare earth minerals, so I my opinion we will stand up quickly. IThe will encourage our Christian - based morals, as a woman of God I am. This does not means I intend to break the fact that Morgovia is secular state - but we can not be cut from roots like our culture or Christianity. A new dawn shines among us - and I hope that we can finally be free and happy people again!"

We also have a reports that as soon as Tsarina' s broadcast ended a group of her military and civilian supporters met in old Constitutional Assembly building, drafting a "little constitution" - a document abolishing Communist constitution and giving all power to the Tsarina and her supporters form the military. It is suspected that they will draft a major constitution soon.

In other news, about one additional division is to be shipped by Gen. Vukovic' s orders to Kozara to fight muslim insurgency. We have reports that two churches full of people were bombed yesterday, killing over 34. General Vukovic already announced that this act won' t go unpunished.

Moltrovis, Auraliae - “For a second time in a single month, the peaceful serenity of our beloved continent has been thrown into discord by the bloodthirsty cabal of theocratic renegades and political agitators who dominate the government in Vaticaina.” Such was the overall tone of Katherine Watson’s acceptance speech Tuesday afternoon of her election to the office of the Auralian Presidency. The nearly half-hour long speech, delivered inside the People’s Congress Chamber, covered a wide variety of topics - from thanking grassroots organizations, praising members of her party, and of course, an array of pointed jabs against the theocratic regime in Astavia. The race for the highest office in the Federal Republic took a dramatic swing in the last three weeks before the April election, after the aggressive posturing of the Astavian military during the Alpha IV Missile Crisis, as well as the country’s suspicious backing of a military-led coup in the democratic island nation of Morgovia, raised the fears of Auralians across the Republic. Katherine Watson, previously a moderately well known Liberal Party governess of Hornbuckle, had been trailing behind in the polls by a margin of five points against the Tory Party incumbent, Robert O’Malley, for much of the campaign. That is of course, until recent events over the past two weeks put the O’Malley campaign on the defensive as the incumbent came under heavy fire for not confronting Astavian threats to Auralian interests in a direct manner.

“The state of willing indifference towards Astavian aggression is at an end,” President Watson said Tuesday. “The noble people of Auraliae have endured for far too long the destabilizing actions of our northern neighbor. From the mandate given to me by this election, I promise to you, the Auralian people, that so long as I hold the office of the Presidency, the weakness of my predecessor’s administration will never be repeated. This nation shall be as a light in the darkness of oppression, a leader in times of discord, and a friend to those struggling under the shackles of foreign dominance.” The speech also included moments of high praise for other Undrian leaders, most noteworthy among them the current Emperor of the Latin Empire, William Michael Bunter. President Watson conveyed strong vocal support to the idea of holding a Pan-Undrian summit to discuss ways of combating radical political movements within the region. For nearly two decades, the secular Auralian government and the Liberal Party have been the targets of repeated attacks carried out by a Catholic separatist terror group operating out of the northern state of Belmia, known as the “Lord’s Liberation Army”.

Katherine Watson carried eighteen of Auraliae’s 20 electoral states, including her home state of Hornbuckle, in what has been considered one of the largest landslide victories in Auralian electorial history. All things considered however, President Watson still has a considerable amount of work ahead to earn the trust of her vocal opponents. In light of Waston’s victory , protests have reportedly broken out in towns throughout the predominantly Catholic state of Belmia, which is home to a substantial population of Auralians sympathetic to Astavian interests.

President Watson is expected to unveil part of her legislative agenda later this week after the People’s congress is officially called together for this year’s congressional session.
