Why does Anti-Semitism exist?

No seriously. Why? As a member of the Jewish faith (Conservative Sect) and a victim of Anti-Semitism I can't help but wonder "Why does Anti-Semitism even exista?" It is aproblem me and my synagogue have had numerous debates about (one ending with a Lemon marang pie fight, don't ask). And we have come to one unanimous decision. There is no reason, no logical reason atleast. But maybe it is different from a non-Jewish perspective. What say ye NSG?

My theories are as follows;

• Jealousy -
  For hundreds of years up until the 1940' we possessed a large amount of wealth, where very successful and well educated. More so then any one in the world. Could it be jealousy or our success tha spawned the Anti-Semitic plague?
• Ignorance-
  Judaism is often seen as the most secretive and strange of the Abrahamic faiths and our traditions may seem strange to an observer. Perhaps ignorance and confusion of our traditions and practice spawned hate?

Jews were easy targets for medieval polemicism. 'Strange' customs, a successful niche as merchants and bankers in a Catholic society (at least in Europe) that forbade usury and lots of medieval superstition around them was fertile ground.

No, not at all. When said that I was joking I'm sorry if you thought that was actually me having a go it wasn't my intention. I do think that is a perspective though which is the root of anti-semetism in the Christian world - the Jewish faith doesn't think Jesus is the son of god, but the Christians do. The "his blood be upon us and our children" quote does incriminate the Jewish people for crucifying Jesus which I think is what started the culture of anti-semetism in the West at least.

Israel is a great country, those who say otherwise are foolish to think so. Israel is doing what it must to defend it's existence, no matter the cost. All countries should follow such an example, to be willing to preserve their own existence no matter what.
