Moralem Populi wrote:Basically, let's start a dialogue here. Explain your views on the ideology of Libertarianism.
In case you live in another country that has a different definition, we are going by the right-wing American version of the ideology.
If you don't know what it means in the United States, here's a link:

I used to be a very strong supporter of Libertarianism. Eventually, however, I studied the way mixed economies worked in other developed nations. I explored the concepts of universal healthcare, and how public education worked in other countries. I also noted how certain regulations on the economy proved beneficial, and protected the workers. Although it took 9 months of consideration (yes, I take a long time when it comes to thinking of these types of things), I left the ideology.
Now, I am a heavy supporter of worker's rights, a mixed economy with some things run in the private market and others socialized, universal healthcare, and fair trade. Things change over a long period of time. But I can't help but feel that certain parts of the ideology still attract me.
So what are your thoughts?

And thus we have my opinion summed up beautifully in one sentence.
But seriously, libertarianism is basically the result of people being too idealistic economically. The market will not regulate itself perfectly 100% of the time, and the market is not guaranteed to take care of all the workers. Thus we have government regulation.
