What is your nation's policy on interracial marriage? When did it first become an issue?

In Hoglanderna, interracial marriage has been fully legal since 1958. Prior to the 1950s, minorities were not large enough for this to become an issue.

Interracial marriage was banned for Spanish Llanitos, Scots, Irish, Arabs and Indians between 1953 and 1961 when we gained independence.

It is not frowned upon due to all ethnic groups being of similar size and most people being mixed race.

For much of Geadish history, it was illegal for marriages to take place between Orthodox Christians and other Christians, or between Christians and non-Christians. After the schism of the church in the late 18th century, some of the restrictions were removed, but Christians (including atheists, who were considered to be Christian for legal purposes) still couldn't marry people of other religions. In 1882, interfaith marriage was fully legalised and remains so today.

Interracial marriage, on the other hand, has never been illegal, as Geadland was an ethnically homogenous nation until the second half of the 20th century.

Closest-equivalent terms apply either to much smaller groupings - tribes or nationalities, like the Eahlcynn, the Afaleonene, the Norþmenn - or to much larger groupings - species, like humans, wolves, ravens. We don't have any categorization that would include all of the Eahlcynn, the Afaleonene, and the Norþmenn (all of whom are pale-skinned folk), but exclude the swarthy folk from Amazonia or the Uttermost West or the New World.

Interspecies marriage is impossible, because only humans are able to swear a binding oath. Intertribal marriage is totally unremarkable.

Interracial marriage has and always be legal. Originally such unions were frowned upon by the general population as was usually of many colonial populations during the time period. However upon the declaration of war against the English Empire, the Republic was desperate for manpower and looked to the natives and foreigners to solve their problems. Other ''races'' were recruited into the Grand Army of the Republic in great numbers and in the aftermath they returned to Gaveria and received a new level of respect and social admittance that they had never before experience.

Afterwords, in a speech by President William Steinbach summed up Gaverian Domestic Policy by saying, '' In the aftermath of the great conflict, The Republic can do only one thing and one thing only, rebuild. And the only way to rebuild is for every Gaverian, Black or White, Spanish or German must work together so the whole may prosper. And the rebuilding must start from the heart, from the home and from the family.''

So to sum it up in laymans terms, It is and continues to be an active domestic policy of the republic for Racial mixing through marriage to be encouraged. This is facilitated by regulating the settlement of arriving immigrants so as to limit their concentrations in the urban areas and to mix them with other non-homogeneous communities.
