Our nation's army in 1914 was heavily modeled on the British Army, with everything from helmets to weapons being essentially copies of their existing equipment. We did not participate in the First World War, however.

[Arthurista]

Arthurista as a semi-autonomous British colony in 1914 contributed a division which fought at Gallipoli and the Western Front, as well as a cavalry brigade which fought with Allenby and Lawrence of Arabia on the Sinai-Palestine front. It was commanded by Arthuristan officers and pioneered important tactics in armoured and aerial warfare. Four VCs were won by Arthuritan troops during the war.

In 1914, the Fatatatutian Army was just starting up. We had only just begun to realize that we needed a Western-style Army to defend against potential attacks by modern armies. The fledgling Takeapenny Arsenal had recently developed the R-1 bolt-action rifle and the first regiments were equiped with it. Later, it was mostly replaced by a lighter carbine version (so Fatatatutti has a long Light Infantry tradition).

In the decade after 1914, developments abroad underlined the importance of armoured warfare and aviation, both of which changed our fighting forces immensely.
