Our History
Gabb Island International is only a new airport. It was proposed by CiTrans after Port Anderson passenger numbers were reaching a record high after a boom in international relations and an entry into the world stage by Cicunda. The port was reaching capacity, and fast, so the idea of an airport was delivered. It caused much debate throughout the community and the council. Cicunda had never had an airport, and prospective airlines had never seen Cicunda as a formidable place to have an airport, due to low international passengers before the boom and severe weather patterns inside Cicunda which would potentially cause issues for pilots. Ultimatly, it was decided that the plan for an Airport would go ahead, and after passing Council, plans for the Airport had begun.
The airport was originally going to be located at Cornella, approximatly 150km North East from the current location, however it was decided that due to multiple reasons (Aircraft noise, weather, location to name a few) to build the airport in its current location.
Runways
Our only runway (Runway 1) is directed 14/32 and has a total running length of 1,764m / 5,787ft, with extra length provided for Overrun Areas. The surface is Ashphalt.
Terminals
The terminal contains ticket desks, security, shops, information, a lounge for all passengers, and five gates which have been set up for service. On the Eastern side of the terminal, is a train station, providing connections to the rest of Cicunda. All passengers with a valid flight ticket into Cicunda are entitled to half price travel on CiTrans services.
