IT IS THE YEAR 1912. Across the Earth, from the plains of Argom to the mountains of Zeeland, from the islands of Valdes to the industrial realms in the heartland of Volmachtia itself- the Kaiserreich flourishes in its power. Though almost cripplingly dependent on food imports, the country has built itself up as a military superpower able to vanquish any other nation in a land war- but the worries remain that more than one country together can take the almighty Reich down. After some border wars across the southern fringes of territory and rebels in the colonies, enough combat experience is in the Army's blood to prepare them for whatever conflict may await them in coming years. Kaiser Friedrich III has nothing to fear, and has no reason to. Who in their right mind could possibly dare to challenge Volmachtia and its Coalition? Who, indeed, but the United Pact and its croneys, would even bother?
And then the Crown Prince Friedrich IV was shot. The bullet that changed everything. The Heir to the Throne killed on Volmachtian soil. The town of Burmann in which he perished has held a long and glorious ceremony to pay proper respects to the deceased prince. Other kings from other lands came too, not willing to snub their begrudging family ties to the Kaiser's line. But a darker, more enraged public sentiment simmers beneath the surface, the always aggressive Friedrich III looking for an outlet to his rage over the death of his favorite son and heir. An invasion. Anyone that was responsible, any country even marginally involved- had to pay. Neutrality or otherwise be damned, punishment will come!
