Osarius National Football Team for World Cup 56

The spoilers below contain my RP permissions, style modifier and starting lineup, and a quick(-ish) summary of the team respectively.
Please read at least the first one before RPing our match :)

Team: Osarius National Football Team (aka "The Firebirds")
Home Stadium: Mount Crown Stadium, Burningham, Mount Crown, Osarius. (Capacity 98,000 - all-seated)
Style: +2 (aggressive pressing game)

Manager: Benedict di Corradi (53 years old)
Assistant Managers: Roberto Barzaglione (53 years old) and Giorgio Cassetti (52 years old)
Captain: Benni Watson
Vice-captain: Ayanna Barca-Carthy
3rd captain: Reiss Ryerson

Usual Starting Line-Up
[ 4-2-3-1 ]

Tinto

Simpson ---- Watson ---- Martelli

Barca-Carthy -- Dhanda

Carsley -- Ryerson -- Decker -- Agnelli

Gulati

The starting forward is likely to change a lot, between the seven listed below.

Other, likely changes (or substitutions) include the following:

Bangura instead of Dhanda
Villa/Pepito instead of Watson (particularly if Watson may be tired)
Simpson at leftback and Phelps on the wing
Aquilani instead of Agnelli
Switch to 4-4-2 with a forward replacing Watson
Switch to 3-5-2 with Holland replacing Decker and a forward replacing Carsley

My RP Permissions are pretty chill to be honest.
Pretty much anything goes, I only ask that you let me decide the severity of any injuries you decide to RP for me, please.
Send my players off if you must -- if its a player I really didn't wanna lose for the next game, I'll RP an appeal or something.
Oh and at the risk of sounding a bit "RAWR" ... do not kill any of my players or coaching staff (unless I say go ahead via TG).
Killing fans is okay though. Go nuts with that if you like.

Following on from the other spoiler, re: the fans... they are very... raucous. And violent. In fact, as a nation, Osarians are violent people, but not mindlessly so. Try to think of them as educated hooligans (paradox liekwoa!).

The team itself generally doesn't consciously defend. They press high up the pitch though and try to win the ball back as quickly as possible.
They will slow down when ahead later in the game, but only so they don't run up the score unnecessarily. Doesn't mean they wont take the opportunity to score if it presents itself.

Another thing that is important to know is that football isnt the number on sport in Osarius. Its second, to GraviBall.
Footballers are loved if they make tough tackles, because the combative nature of the game is what the fans like.
Sooo... basically, if you're not scoring goals or making crunching tackles, the fans aren't impressed. That goes for opponents too... Osarian fans always appreciate a good tackle (although they will boo their goals, obvs).

From time to time I'll make reference to the area a player is from, and when I do, I will try to add an OOC note to explain what it means.

As a general rule though...
People from Ikuturso are crazy and violent (and usually have weird, extreme religious beliefs)
People from Tubriss are conniving (and violent)
People from Fourge are pretty simple, but tough as nails (and love to fight)
People from Applegrass are ... rural
People from Mount Crown are stuck up (but will still beat the crap out of foreigners)
People from Hearthlands are vain (and if you mess up their looks... pray)

Osarians also view Kryosi people as dumb, crazy and just ... well, they generally hate them.
Eristiceans are simply not to be trusted, and although most people have never met a Callistean woman (the Queen is Callistean, btw), they are supposedly all incredibly beautiful (the Queen is).
Oh, and they think Aquillish people are... those nice but dim island folk who are practically Osarian.

Manager: Benedict di Corradi
Benedict di Corradi has openly revealed in the press that this will be his final campaign with the team, should he fail again to lead them to the World Cup finals. The now introspective, statistical analysis loving Fourgian in charge now represents a drastic change from the man who took control of the national team almost 20 years ago. Back then, he was a hotheaded, outspoken and stubborn man with unbelievable drive. Now he is far less "in-your-face" and more focused, even going as far as to actively engage in defensive tactical decisions -- albeit rarely, still. His dedication to offensive football remains, but is wavering, as he sees the last of what he believed to be Osarius' "golden generation" nearing retirement with no honours to show for their efforts, and feels that as the new breed come through, perhaps they would benefit from a fresh leader. This of course may all change should the team perform well, which one gets the feeling he suspects it will, having convinced team captain Benni Watson to reconsider his international retirement last summer.

Assistant Managers: Roberto Barzaglione and Giorgio Cassetti
As the two oldest and closest friends of Benedict di Corradi, these two were often seen as the neutralising forces which kept the firebrand from incinerating everything around him -- figuratively, of course. Over the years, they have been his most trusted advisors and scouts, as well as a bridge between the players and their often aloof manager. They tend to assist in coaching the finer aspects of the game, which many would consider to "come with experience", as well as assisting in general sessions, rather than having a specialisation like most coaches.

Coaches: Elissa Barca-Carthy, Donovan MacLean, Maurice Simmons, Jeffrey Allen, Gerald Cole
The influence of Elissa Barca-Carthy -- formerly a head of programme at the national football academy -- has slowly been growing over the past few years. Her highly-regarded talent for coaching defenders has not gone unnoticed among the board of the OFA, who have made subtle criticisms of di Corradi's reckless attitude and overly offensive style. Barca-Carthy was permitted to take control of the national team for a short while, when the OFA and di Corradi had a falling-out over entry to a tournament in Cassadaigua. Donovan MacLean's influence has waned during the same time period, but he retains loyalty from several first-teamers, on the strength of his organisation skills. His coaching tends to focus on positioning, and the Osarians' fluid attacking style owes a lot to the solidity of the players behind them. Simmons, Allen and Cole are all former colleagues of di Corradi's from his short time at Firewood fifteen years ago, and they not only coached him during his career, but worked extensively with his mentor, Geert Bakker. Their presence was one of the terms di Corradi presented to the OFA before accepting their contract offer, claiming that they would help him to do the job "the right way". By this, it is assumed that he wishes to coach in a manner Bakker would have approved of.

Specialist Coaches: Onyibo Oduoza (goalkeeping), Claudio Traga (fitness)
Oduoza once trained under the now-legendary Enzo Corradini at Hollybrent, and is credited with turning Orlando Florian into the legendary keeper he became. A cerebral man, Oduoza sometimes employs strange methods to bring out the best in his charges, and to develop vital skills. Few can argue with his results, however. Traga, on the other hand, is perhaps best known among sports fans back home for his past career as a Boxer. Upon retirement, Traga's love of sport led him to study sports science at Utica University, where he learnt to combine his boxing experience with science know-how to develop fitness regimes for professional sportsmen (and women). His system, The Lightstrike Method, is used in most professional sports clubs in Osarius as a major part of training, particularly during the off-season.

Medical Staff: Daniel Chambers (physiotherapist), Dr. Sarah Bocchetti (team doctor)
Chambers and Bocchetti are also old friends of di Corradi's who he trusts implicitly. Chambers helped to rehabilitate di Corradi's left knee after his severe injury toward the end of his career, while Bocchetti is an old classmate, whose adive was a major factor in di Corradi's decision to hang up his boots.

The squad itself changes often, as di Corradi operates a form-based selection system. This doesn't necessarily mean he picks the players in the best form for every match, of course. But rather a player in good form on the fringes of the national team is more likely to be picked than a frequent substitute who has had a dip in form recently.
Below are details on the core of the squad, with information on fringe players following.

Goalkeepers

Jasveer GULATI - 29 years old - Firewood City F.C.
Marco CORRADINI - 26 years old - Burningham City F.C.
Geneva CLEVELAND - 23 years old - Kart Hago FC

Albert Mariana's age is finally catching up with him over in Carpathia and Ruthenia, leaving Jasveer Gulati free to claim the number one shirt, as we have all but known since his U21 days that he would eventually. His backup is Marco Corradini, who originally turned fans' heads during a season-long loan stint at Cymrwell FC, before returning to the capital to claim the starting spot. He has suffered in Burningham of late, due to the retirements of several of the solid defensive line-up that protected him so well in his first full season, but his talent is still clear. The frequent third choice 'keeper is Geneva Cleveland. To many, she will seem like a strange choice, or one out of left-field, but in truth she has been on the national team radar for some time. Enzo Corradini -- yes, that Enzo, the legendary Hollybrent goalkeeper -- has touted her to eventually become the Osarian number one. He's not often wrong about 'keepers.

The leading fringe players include former national teamer Christopher Sullivan, as well as former under-21s Peter Clarkson, and Damian Berenguer. All three are capable goalkeepers, with Sullivan's experience -- despite his alleged propensity for "clangers" -- often proving invaluable.

Peter CLARKSON - 29 years old - AFC Hollybrent
Christopher SULLIVAN - 32 years old - Greeningham City F.C.
Damian BERENGUER - 23 years old - Bowsston United F.C.

Defenders

CB - Reiss RYERSON - 31 years old - Firewood City F.C.
CB - Harvey DECKER - 26 years old - Grasshoppers Turic F.C.
CB - Conor KINSELLA - 23 years old - Burningham City F.C.
CB - Carlo ROMANO - 26 years old - Pythons (Queer Poco el Mono Ara)
CB - Valeria AYALA - 24 years old - Utica United F.C.
CB - Michael HARRIS - 21 years old - Utica United F.C.
SW - Katherine HOLLAND - 27 years old - Cymrwell FC
LB - Georgina CARSLEY - 31 years old - Greeningham City F.C.
LB - Gennaro CRISCITO - 25 years old - Rapid Hearthlands
RB - Flavio AQUILANI - 28 years old - Trothwands Evolution
RB - Federico AGNELLI - 25 years old - Violia FC

Veterans Ryerson and Carsley are joined by the relatively inexperience Harvey Decker, and the emerging Federico Agnelli to form di Corradi's transitional starting back four. He also includes sweeper Katherine Holland -- who he is known to rate very highly -- despite rarely using a system which facilitates her best role. It is believed that her attacking qualities from the back line are what attract di Corradi most, as he is often trying to find the best possible way to outsmart the opposition. As he has dabbled with using wingers as fullbacks in the past, its perhaps safe to assume that Holland's role may not necessarily be the traditional defensive one should she get much playing time, although we have seen her line up as a conventional centre-back for Osarius in the past. Reiss Ryerson's calming influence, and comfort on the ball helps to keep a normally aggressive group in check, while Georgina Carsley's tough-tackling, and tenacious tracking make her a formidable opponent for some of the best wingers in the multiverse. The main weakness shown by this selection is the lack of penetration on the left, as Carsley is less-than-comfortable going forward. Agnelli is capable, but nowhere near as incisive as Aquilani -- although his defensive attributes are superior -- but Gennaro Criscito appears to be di Corradi's only real choice for such a role on the left flank. Some have suggested that he may opt to play a winger at leftback more frequently in this cycle, however.

The fringe players in defense -- as a result of an increased emphasis on defending at national academies of late -- are too numerous to list, although leading candidates include former under-21s JeVaughn Harris and Shaun Pemberton, alongside almost the entire current selection of Flying Sparks defenders.

Midfielders

DM - Arun BANGURA - 28 years old - Grasshoppers Turic F.C.
DM - Hope PERANIO - 33 years old - Rio Uniao (Ocel0t)
CM - Ayanna BARCA-CARTHY - 26 years old - Real Jraxville F.C.
CM - Marvin TURNER - 24 years old - Burningham City F.C.
CM - Alvaro INIESTA - 25 years old - AFC Hollybrent
CM - Jayson DHANDA - 22 years old - Utica United F.C.
CM - Cassandra PALACIOS - 34 years old - Rio Uniao (Ocel0t)
AM - Benni WATSON - 37 years old - Firewood City F.C.
AM - Francesco VILLA - 28 years old - Hastmead Diamante CFC
AM - PEPITO - 23 years old - Real Jraxville F.C.

The team captain, Benni Watson, is the top point of what could be described as a midfield star, or the central point of a six-man midfield and attack. Either of these could be said to effectively represent his importance to the team at times. The former right winger has moved into a central role, where his declining pace will not affect his role as much, and where his vast experience will be most valuable. He often serves as the creative spark, finding the pass in the final third, or dropping deep to pull a player out of coverage. On the right flank he can find Enrico Martelli -- his understudy/replacement at Firewood -- and on the left, Jordan Simpson -- his cousin and former protege -- while receiving support from his vice-captain Ayanna Barca-Carthy behind him. Some have criticised the selection of Watson in recent friendlies, citing his lack of pace and his age, considering him a hindrance to the progress of younger players such as Pepito. Benedict di Corradi, however, has utmost faith in the man often spoken of as his heir, and has effectively built a midfield around him. This is not to say that the system cannot work without Watson. Indeed, it is easily arguable that the system is better without him, as Pepito's tricks are blindingly fast, and Villa's movement is often harder to track. Ayanna Barca-Carthy is perhaps the best midfielder in the squad overall, as she is capable of playing a box-to-box role, a defensive role, her natural deep-lying playmaker (regista) role, and at a push, even the trequartista role -- making the most of her excellent vision and passing -- and other than Watson, she is likely to be the first name on the teamsheet. While her club have stalled in their progress of late, she is still improving, and her ambitious nature may cause her to begin to see this campaign as a chance to prove herself to bigger clubs. Also of note is the presence of two defined defensive midfielders in the list of "regulars". This is a direct result of di Corradi's shifting mentality. He rates the combativeness of both Bangura and Peranio extremely highly, and has noted that both possess potentially devastating long-range shooting ability. Their presence also allows him to alter the team's focus and play three attacking midfielders should he so desire, or even revert to the old-school 4-4-2 by sacrificing his "regista" or "trequartista" -- Barca-Carthy or Watson in most cases -- thus making the game potentially more open. While Hope Peranio's move abroad seems to have re-invented and rejuvenated her, there is also a welcome return to the national team for her partner-in-crime, Cassandra Palacios. Neither is likely to start, but di Corradi values them as a unit more than as individuals, which both benefits and hinders them in his plans. Looking at the average age of the midfield has seen di Corradi come in for some harsh criticisms and accusations of sentimentality, which are understandable, however, the quality of the players selected is proven. Central midfield is also the position at which he is perhaps most spoilt for choice, so it makes sense that he would perhaps settle largely for the tried and tested, rather than give a chance to a few fringe players such as Maryann Walsh or Nicolao Froilante.

Other fringe names of note include Luann Morin, Elena Orlova and Serenity Lewis at central midfield, and the likes of Arron N'Daw at defensive midfield. However, the chances of any of them featuring in any capacity greater than late cameo substitute is fairly low. Osarius currently also enjoys remarkable depth at attacking midfield, with Froilante joined by Raimundo Olivar and Aaliyah Ferguson as the leading names left out of the squad. Accusations of nepotism have perhaps forced di Corradi to over-think the possible selection of his 20 year old son, Alessandro. While he performed well at the Di Bradini Cup, and was decent in the AOCAF Cup, his experience is still limited -- arguably by Benni Watson at Firewood, ironically enough -- and the gaffer seems reluctant to include him in squads outside friendlies and expected "crush matches".

CM - Luann MORIN - 24 years old - Muirford Athletic F.C.
CM - Elena ORLOVA - 20 years old - Hastmead Diamante CFC
CM - Serenity LEWIS - 17 years old - Firewood City F.C.
DM - Arron N'DAW - 18 years old - Hastmead Diamante CFC
AM - Aaliyah FERGUSON - 23 years old - Arcaea County F.C.
AM - Raimundo OLIVAR - 28 years old - 1896 Ebor (Mytannion)
AM - Nicolao FROILANTE - 26 years old - Dynapolis United F.C.
AM - Alessandro DI CORRADI - 20 years old - Firewood City F.C.

Wide Midfielders and Wingers

RW - Enrico MARTELLI - 26 years old - Firewood City F.C.
RM - Joaquin MARTINEZ - 29 years old - AFC Hollybrent
RM - Allie FAY - 24 years old - Utica United F.C.
RM - Hamzah IBRAHIM - 21 years old - Hastmead Diamante CFC
LW - Jordan SIMPSON - 29 years old - Hastmead Diamante CFC
LW - Autumn PHELPS - 25 years old - Violia FC
LM - Rodrigo BELTRAN - 26 years old - Burningham City F.C.

It's increasingly difficult for di Corradi to narrow these selections down, even though his captain -- Benni Watson -- has converted to a central playmaker's role. While Enrico Martelli is the clear choice to replace the 37 year old on the right wing, the left wing is far more open. His tactics of late facilitate the use of inverted wingers if he so chooses, although realistically, the lack of penetration on the left flank from defence would necessitate a natural left winger. Jordan Simpson is the leading candidate, but his decision making is suspect at times. Autumn Phelps is another strong choice -- especially now she has improved her positional sense -- although di Corradi tends to ask her to play a more attacking role akin to a left sided forward. Her familiarity with the left wing position is in a largely different setup to the national team, which may cause problems. Solving the left sided problem -- now that Ashley Watson has retired from international football -- may be di Corradi's main obstacle in achieving that elusive World Cup finals berth he has sought for so long. In an attempt to avoid making his midfield lop-sided, or forcing him to play a tactically incompatible selection, di Corradi is largely forced to leave out one of the more talented right wingers at his disposal; Jerome Johnson. Johnson's age and relative inconsistency, when combined with his checkered history -- particularly with the law -- make him the least desirable of a strong group, unfortunately.

Leading the fringe players for wide positions -- ignoring Jerome Johnson -- are two twenty-one year old, left sided players; Kasim Shazad and Carmelo Reyes. The wingers -- at Trothwands and Bowsston respectively -- are both capable of playing on the right flank also, and are two of the leading youngsters on the assists tables. There are a lot more youngsters in similar roles who could be in contention -- perhaps inspired by Benni Watson's success there over the past decade -- but none of them really stand out, besides these two. Some under-21s have looked strong though, like Brett Hendricks or Lisa Hamilton.

LM - Kasim SHAZAD - 21 years old - Trothwands Evolution
LM - Carmelo REYES - 21 years old - Bowsston United F.C.
LM - Janet PATTERSON - 23 years old - Greeningham City F.C.
LM - Amrit GILL - 29 years old - Dynapolis United F.C.
RW - Jerome JOHNSON - 30 years old - Grasshoppers Turic F.C.
RW - Michael RUSH - 18 years old - Real Jraxville F.C.
RM - Brett HENDRICKS - 18 years old - Grasshoppers Turic F.C.
RM - Lisa HAMILTON - 20 years old - Muirford Athletic F.C.

Forwards

CF - Tabatha BRAY - 24 years old - AFC Hollybrent
CF - Madelyn VALDEZ - 26 years old - Violia FC
CF - Romario ROBERTS - 22 years old - Greeningham City F.C.
ST - Tia LOMBARDI - 20 years old - Bowsston United F.C.
ST - Keon TINTO - 34 years old - AFC Hollybrent
ST - Rene WILSON-OUADDOU - 35 years old - Firewood City F.C.
ST - Dante SPERANZO - 26 years old - Utica United F.C.

While most parts of the squad are not being refreshed, the forwards are. When you have such talented youngsters breaking through, though, its hard not to. Romario Roberts is the name on most fans' lips of late, as he finally seems to be breaking through at Greeningham, where he has been since age 17. His standout performances at the latest Di Bradini Cup and AOCAF Cup served only to highlight his versatility. Of course, the presence of veteran goalmachine Keon Tinto, and Rene "The Wren" Wilson-Ouaddou -- responsible for engineering many an escape from defeat in his time -- may limit how often Roberts gets to showcase that versatility. Dante Speranzo is still in the mix, too, having seemingly lost a lot of the hype that followed him around after his breakthrough some eight years ago, desite performing even better now for Utica United. Tabatha Bray is Keon Tinto's protege and strike partner at Hollybrent, and is learning well, reaching double figures in her first full season for a Hollybrent side not renowned for its offensive prowess. Madelyn Valdez was the surprise package for many teams a couple years ago, and in the time since, the deceptively powerful forward has been the subject of several big money offers. Her refusal to leave Violia is admired by most, although it may boil down to their style of play suiting her best. When di Corradi lines the Firebirds up with two wingers, they will greatly resemble a familiar system for Madelyn, and that is when she is at her most dangerous. The seven leading candidates for starring roles as forwards in di Corradi's squad averaged around 15 goals each last season, and all of them played in Osarius' top division. Opposition defenders will have nightmares about that kind of statistic, as it highlights the quality in depth that Osarius possess up front.

Like he did when faced with a similar dilemma regarding his son, Alessandro, Benedict di Corradi has opted not to leave his daughter -- arguably more talented than her brother, Alessandro -- on the fringes of the national team also. Not just her, though, also the sons of his assistants -- Michael Cassetti and Francesco Barzaglione -- are out in the cold, so to speak. Daniel Watson -- cousin to Ashley, Robert and Benni -- is a case of a potentially great forward who hasn't quite reached it yet, and will almost certainly pick up some caps, just not with the likes of Tinto ahead of him in the pecking order. His striker partner Kimberly Wilkinson is in a similar position, as is Paige Buckner at Cymrwell -- where the loss of their main provider means she is feeding on relative scraps. The surprise fringe candidate is perhaps Calvin Harris, although the savvy readers among you will have noted his incredible goalscoring over the past ten years, despite his age and physical attributes being in a noticeable decline. He may be the man di Corradi turns to for tricky ties where he simply needs a goal, as Harris finds them in situations nobody else can.

CF - Maria DI CORRADI - 21 years old - Firewood City F.C.
CF - Michael CASSETTI - 22 years old - Burningham City F.C.
CF - Paige BUCKNER - 23 years old - Cymrwell FC
CF - Kimberly WILKINSON - 24 years old - Trothwands Evolution
ST - Francesco BARZAGLIONE - 23 years old - Firewood City F.C.
ST - Daniel WATSON - 26 years old - Trothwands Evolution
ST - Olive LAWRENCE - 25 years old - Burningham City F.C.
ST - Calvin HARRIS - 38 years old - Futebol Club Gijon (Ocel0t)

The Kagdazka and Pazhujebu Football Association (KPFA) is proud to present the Federation national team that will play in World Cup 56 should it qualify. It's captain will be goalkeeper Zubeida Ichuvihaja. A few major changes can be seen from the Federation's most recent squad. Starting striker Zlatko Zedafski has retired from both club and international football, allowing room for a new face to come in up front for the Urchins. Former starters Vsevolod Ogorodov and Yuzhissa Aghimaqaj have been left out of the team entirely, the former due to poor club form and the latter due to a lack of confidence possibly stemming from his disastrous sending-off in the World Cup 55 group stage.

New faces include new starting defensive midfielder Odšahe Yakoko, better known as the engine behind the consecutive league triumphs of his club (Zhevassi), one third of FKM's spectacular attacking unit in Oleg Rostov, and four up-and-coming youngsters in Udachin, Ghedafghupa, Dhivadha, and Gašughumi. Players returning to the team after time away are new starting left midfielder Yegor Zbruyev, fresh off of a championship year with Ojedo Cerro in the Liga Aguazuleña, as well as Krevetka's Demyan Ilych, Tout-Puissant Outremont's Aquillius Razava, Vulkan's Peregrina Thašighi, and Grêmio Lux's Bolov Narozhylenko.

Manager

Brutušam Erassi

Image

In early 5249, the KPFA sent Baba Yaga a now-infamous memorandum, wherein the manager was given a list of changes she was required to make. Angry with these ultimatums, she resigned. KPFA officials have been cowering in their offices ever since, mortified that she will someday return to exact her revenge. The only thing they have managed to accomplish during their self-imposed refuge is the appointment of the team's new manager, Brutušam Erassi, the Pazhujebi mastermind behind Urnabhi's truly miraculous stay in the KPFA League First Division and FKM's surprising 5th-place 5248 finish.

Erassi is persuasive and shrewd, and has orchestrated many a somewhat shady move behind closed doors in the past. Much of his work is done before his teams ever set foot on the pitch. Unending resourcefulness would be his number one strength. A lack of charisma would be his number one weakness. Tactically speaking, he usually favors the use of either one or three striker setups with a tall and powerful target man semi-permanently residing in the middle of the opponents 18-yard-box. Correspondingly, he has benched the team's talismanic (but also 43-year-old) number ten, Šušan'ikara Ghur, in favor of the very-much in-form right winger Aquillius Razava of the Cotdelapomais champion side Tout-Puissant Outremont, and pushed Fušia Oujadda up the pitch into the full striker role she has at her TQCC-champion club, Ranca Toco.

Formation

Ichuvihaja

Chahachim Akhmetbekov Mizirov Vaskaryev

Yakoko
Razava Zbruyev

Oujadda Omelchenko Chadi

As far as which players are the most likely to score, goals will come from a lot of different places. I have absolutely no problem with other players RPing that my one of my defenders scored. In fact, I encourage it; Chahachim and Vaskaryev are fast and love to get forward, and Mizirov and Akhmetbekov are eternal set-piece threats because they are both so tall. Razava is really more of a crosser of the ball than a shooter of the ball, but he's a great counterattacker and when he gets played in alone on the keeper he's a much better finisher than he looks at first glance. Zbruyev has a knack for scoring goals at absolutely crucial times. And Yakoko can basically do anything... he's a true all-purpose midfielder, so he can shoot, pass, tackle, run, dribble; whatever. Feel free to have any of them score.

And of course the strikers get their share of goals as well. Chadi and Omelchenko are similar players in that they are tall and lean but can get running at quite a good gait. Omelchenko's a bit better with his head, though, compared to Chadi who's more of an instep technique shot scorer. And Oujadda... she is without doubt the best player on the team and is probably the best Federation player to have ever lived. She's very short, and for a woman is quite stocky, but she's pacy, technical, and explosive, and is a goalscoring and assisting threat at the same time. She will probably score the most goals of anyone on the team.

Uniforms

ImageImage

There are not proper "home" or "away" strips for the Federation national team. The wisteria and green colors are worn when the team plays in Kagdazka, and the purple and black colors are worn when the team plays in Pazhujebu. For away matches, or for neutral venue tournaments, the team alternates between the two uniforms. These kits were created by Cotdelapoms.

National Information

Kagdazka is a cold territory in the far northeastern regions of Siberia. The country's terrain is a mix of mountains, taiga, and tundra. In the southwest, where a large percentage of the population live, it is considerably warmer during summertime than in other parts of the country. Kagdazka is nearly landlocked, but for a tiny corridor that runs along both sides of the Dyurtyuli River, which empties into the Pacific Ocean. For years, Kagdazka was ruled by a pro-capitalist dictatorship to its east, and these corporatists brutally discriminated against the ethnic Russian Kagdaz minority, who for cryptic reasons have always identified themselves with the color wisteria. So terrible was the oppression from the east that all wisteria items, whether they were flags, bedsheets, microwaves, bicycles, or even flowers, were confiscated and destroyed on sight. Consequently, the name of this imperialist former ruler is not to be spoken by anyone in the country under penalty of death.

Pazhujebu, formerly known as the Pazhujeb Islands, is an island territory in the Atlantic about 700 miles off the coast of west Africa. The nation is notable for having been closed off to the outside world from 269 to 1926 AD. The islands had never been occupied by any except the Pazhujebis and had never been noticed by European cartographers until it was accidentally run across in the 20th century. The country's population are found to have been mostly genetically descended from Indian peoples. There are various explanations for this phenomenon; but the Pazhujebi story is that they were violently expelled from Rome by Claudius II. Pazhujebis are known for being frustrating at the best of times, and militant at the worst. They are vehemently protective of their independence, and have in the main refused to adapt to modern society or technology (though hefty exceptions have been made for the arms manufacturing industry and for the national monorail service).

Cars are banned in the Federation. Neither fans nor players should expect to be able to get around via that mode of travel. However, in Kagdazka, travelling via sleg dog is very popular, in Pazhujebu, private yacht services can take you from place to place, and in both countries, a privately-owned but nationally-operated monorail service can take you just about anywhere. As long as it doesn't break down near a settlement of environmental extremists. Cough cough.

Stadia

The Urchins will use the following two stadiums for World Cup qualifying. One is in Kagdazka and one is in Pazhujebu.

FKM Arena
City: CMZ Metropolitan Area, Kagdazka
Capacity: 69,000 seats
Club Tenants: FKM

The cities of Chadan, Murmansk, and Zanduznyy are often lumped together into one single metropolitan area, in no small part because of the towns' uniform support for the left-wing club FKM. This club believes that positive football is as much political as it is tactical; that attacking play is equivalent to the poor farmer's quest for social justice and that cynical defending is equivalent to the evil businessman's lust for money. Seem like an oversimplification to you? Yeah... those FKM fans are a bit nuts, and you can tell when you visit their round concrete stadium, a veritable industrialist workers' temple, adorned with socialist slogans, chain-link fences, and the like.

Graha’ajat Stidiyama
City: Zhevassi, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 96,000 seats
Club Tenants: Zhevassi

The home field of First Division champions Zhevassi ZL, this venue, the largest and most prestigious in the whole Federation, is nestled up in the misty hills east of the small town of Zhevassi and is made mostly from wood but meticulously decorated from pitch to stand to roof to entrance with soapstone sculptures, many of which are massive and built into the architecture. In Pazhujebi, the name of the stadium means "Stadium of the Planet," which tells a layman the sort of pride residents of the small Zahuj Peninsula village have in this grand park and in their club side. Visitors will enjoy themselves, but should be warned: they will get wet... it rains a lot.

Out of Character Stuff

1. Read this. I've worked hard on it and mostly kept it well maintained. I'm delighted when I can tell that someone actually takes five minutes to do some research. I'm not so delighted when I hear made-up demonyms like 'Kagdazkan' or 'Pazhujebuan.' Which brings me to...

2. The proper demonym for a person or thing from Kagdazka is 'Kagdaz.' The proper demonym for a person or thing from Pazhujebu is 'Pazhujebi.' The two countries are VERY separate, connected only politically, NOT culturally and CERTAINLY not geographically.

3. With those two things said, as long as you don't kill anyone, RP permissions should all be considered set to 'yes.’

Kernansquillec's Squad for the 56th World Cup

General Information
Kernansquillec finished 4th at the 42nd Baptism of Fire. With the League System in Kernansquillec improving the team's players are getting more expierience. Despite the team signing up at the previous World Cup a team of complete strangers held the main team hostige during the whole tournament and meant that no press reports were ever published.

Kernansquillec play forward going football with a style modifier of +3.0 in a 4-4-2 formation. The team is mainly the same as at the 42nd Baptism of Fire, but quite a few U21 players have come into the squad after impressive performances at the 17th and 18th Di Bradini Cup. They are ranked 92nd going into the World Cup.

Kernansquillec are known to fans as the Green and Whites, the Kers or the Green Stalions. A big number of fans follow the team around and football is realy more of a religion in Kernansquillec than a passtime. If Kernansquillec are playing at least one of the stands will be green.

Starting XI
K.Suutari-Jääskö K.Holmes
F.Matignon X.Cressac R.Francoeur A.Lilac
J.Sweeper G.Connor (C) D.Boursier A.Glover
S.Henderson (GK)

Substitutes
Z.Larivière (GK)
H.Walker T.Tyler L.Dunn
J.Wyatt T.Kiki W.Harold
R.Roseby P.Masson P.Rolland
J.Grosventre L.Kent

Squad Information

Stuart HENDERSON GK, n.1, 34 years old.
Stuart is a veteran goalkeeper that is always a rock at the back of the defence. At 34 he is threatend by the currant U21 goalkeeper Larivière who has made the bench so he will need to impress the manager.

Alex GLOVER RB, n.2, 23 years old.
Alex has recently broken into the first team from the bench. Replacing Pinnard he inherits the n.2 jersey. He has a good futur ahead of him but he isn't quite at his peak yet. A decent right back.

Jack SWEEPER LB, n.3, 27 years old.
Jack has been a regular member of the senior side but age is starting to catch up and he only realy has an other couple of years before he starts losing his skill. But for the moment he is a good left back.

Didier BOURSIER CB, n.4, 24 years old.
Didier is a very good young center back. Gaining more and more experience from playing world class football alongside captain Gary he is a key player in central defence.

Gary CONNOR CB, n.5, 28 years old, captain.
Gary is the captain of the team and gives a massive confidence boost to his team. He is also a rock in defence and is a master of tackling and heading. Attackers will have to do something special to get past this lad.

Xarles CRESSAC CM, n.6, 20 years old.
The U21 captain broke into the team during the 42nd Baptism of Fire. He is a huge talent and is very good in midfield. He is also the captain of the team when Gary cannot play.

Rémy FRANCOEUR CM, n.7, 22 years old.
Rémy is a player who will make his first start in this World Cup. He's had some very good apperances off the bench, now let's hope he can do the same from the start. He is the midfield player who generaly starts the attacks, and finishes some of them as well.

Fernando MATIGNON LM, n.8, 25 years old.
Fernando is a decent winger who can send in powerful crosses. He is currantly stuguling a bit and he'd better pick up his form soon or risk being replaced.

Adam LILAC RM, n.9, 20 years old.
One of the great players on the team. The 20 year old has speed, technique, power and sends in accurate crosses. Nearly every single full-back hates playing against Adam.

Kai HOLMES CF, n.10, 17 years old.
One of the U21 graduates who is now a key player of the team. With a goal ratio of around 1 per game he knows how to find space, how to shot, and how to score. He is known as "The Dog" to defenders as he never leaves them alone.

Kimmo SUUTARI-JÄÄSKÖ CF, n.11, 15 years old.
Kimmo is destined to become one of the world's greatest. At 15 he's the youngest player to play for the Senior and U21 teams. He made his first U18 appearance at 14. A year later he's in the starting XI of a World Cup team.

Hector WALKER Substitute RB, n.12, 17 years old.

Zacharie LARIVIERE Substitute GK, n.13, 19 years old.

Tyler TYLER Substitute CB, n.14, 34 years old.

Thomas KIKI Substitute LM, n.15, 26 years old.

Jacob WYATT Substitute RM, n.16, 31 years old.

Rory ROSEBY Substitute CM, n.17, 19 years old.

Louis DUNN Substitute LB, n.18, 25 years old.

Wagbo HAROLD Substitute CM, n.19, 31 years old.

John GROSVENTRE Substitute CF, n.20, 24 years old.

Peter ROLLAND Substitue CF, n.21, 28 years old.

Lewis KENT Substitute CF, n.22, 36 years old.

Pierpont MASSON Substitute CM, n.23, 31 years old.

The Coaches

Dean HAROLD, Manager
Dean is a great coach who likes to make his players move the ball around and attack their opponants. When his team don't do well he sure lets them know about it. He's one of the most noisy coaches in Kernansquillec.

Liliana NAPOLITANI, Assistant Manager
The only woman in the Men's Senior Team set up, she is a talented assistant who knows everything there is about tactics and defending. You probably won't see her on the TV because she'll be next to the players telling them where to go, what to do, and where the weaknesses of the opposition are.

The Kit

A big thanks to MytaStar Sportswear for the official World Cup 56 kit.

The Stadium
Kernansquillec will play all of their homes games in Kernansquillec City, the Captial of Kernansquillec, at the National Stadium which has a capacity of 185,000. Fans may access the stadium by metro from the whole city or via the direct line from the airport, by train from the station just 500m from the stadium, or by car or bus thanks to the huge car park next to the stadium. Many hotels, hostels, resterants and leisure centers are open for buisness so fans will always be well looked after in Kernansquillec.

THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE MONASTIC WORLD CUP 56 SQUAD

First of all, everyone except newbies knows that the Archregimancy is a nation of Eastern Orthodox Christian monks from an alternate reality, right?

The World Cup 56 squad is identical to the World Cup 55 Squad that itself built on the surprisingly successful squads used since the post-52 CoH team, which claimed to be undefeated in tournament finals across the post-WC52 CoH and World Cup 53 finals after being otherwise undefeated but knocked out on penalties both times. This run ended in WC54, but after the humiliating failure to qualify for WC52, the Monastic Football Association has been encouraged by the slow and steady improvement that has now taken the Archregimancy to only its second ever semifinal and 9th in the rankings.

COACH -
Fr. Sozon the Simple:
A popular holy man and hermit. Not really renowned for his intellect, and was once said to 'probably think 4-4-2 is something to do with an abacus'. However, his spell in charge has seen rare success for the squad, suggesting that footballing awareness might be overrated in an international team - or that he's perhaps some sort of football tactics Fool for Christ who isn't nearly as simple as he lets on.

GOAL
Fr. Justinian the Four Times Blessed
The Archregimancy's first-ever international goalkeeper came out of retirement to rejoin the squad. Once best-known for saving three penalties in a single Monastic League cup final, and for his habit of painting icons in goal during quiet stretches of the match - but now better known for saving four penalties in the World Cup 55 quarterfinals (though still in the habit to keeping some 50 icons hanging from the rear of his goal net).

DEFENCE
Fr. Simeon the New Theologian
A subtle mind considered an expert on the heresies of Valentinian gnosticism and docetism. Often attempts to distract the opposition with an academic discourse on these topics.

Fr. Serapion the Immobile Had spent the last 30 years standing immobile in one place until the Cup of Harmony. Consented to join the team on the condition he doesn't have to stray from his own half. Initial scepticism on his ability to play was set aside in light of the team's recent success.

Fr. Macarius the Stylite The Archregimancy's other central defender has spent the last 50 years sitting on top of a column, which he has consented to descend from specifically for the tournament. Like Fr. Serapion, his holiness is unquestioned, but his mobility was considered a potential issue until the defence proved rock-solid in recent tournaments.

Fr. George the Perfumer Fr. George has, in holiness, kept his body untouched by water for some 25 years now, that he may better worship the Lord without distraction. Whether his name refers to his role as incense keeper at the Holy Monastery of St. Saba's in the Desert, or to his unique personal aroma is a matter of some debate; opposing forwards may wish it was the former.

MIDFIELD
Fr. Irenaeus the Ascetic
Even in an entire nation of monks who often engage in severe ascetic hermit practices, Fr. Irenaeus stands out. He eats a single bowl of beans a day, drinks nothing but rain water, and is known to run tirelessly between the caves in his mountain hermitage. But as thin as he undoubtedly is, there's no doubting that he's supremely fit, and will run many a defender into the ground.

Fr. Theodore the Hair-Shirt Wearer Whatever punishment this hard-tackling ball-winning central midfielder might inflict on your team pales in significance compared to the punishment he inflicts on himself both night and day.

Fr. Onesiphorus the Lame His left leg is shorter than his right leg. Well, it worked for Garrincha - and on recent international tournament form, it works for Fr. Onesiphorus as well.

Fr. Luke the Third Holy Igumen One of the most respected monks in the entire Archregimancy, Fr. Luke would almost certainly have been made Metropolitan of the Greatest Lavra decades ago if he'd shown any interest in being a bishop. Has insisted that he be included in the squad despite his frailty: he physically appears to be about 95 human years old, and walks with a cane. After starting as a centre forward, he remains on the right wing where he has proven bizarrely effective; 'guile, not speed' is his motto.

FORWARDS
Fr. Innocent of Ariddia
The most successful international convert ever to play for the team, and coaxed out of retirement from his isolated hermitage for the third cup in a row.

Fr. Eudoxius the Fit Leading scorer for Monastic League team The Painted Monastery of Voronets for many seasons, and one of the most admired footballing monks in the entire Archregimancy. Had never been picked for the national team until the post-WC52 Cup of Harmony (perhaps because he plays for a small and unfashionable monastery) but has recently been the Archregimancy's answer to Alan Belmore.

SUBS

Tips for footballing visitors to the Archregimancy:

1) Each home match is preceded by the complete Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Rest assured that this should only require visiting teams, fans, and officials to stand for a mere 2 hours before kickoff. Consider yourselves lucky we don't use the Liturgy of St. Basil.

2) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Archregimancy home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated. Any such behaviour will find those responsible immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality.

3) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Archregimancy, a team of monks shall arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Archregimancy at your leisure.

4) Visiting support is limited to a maximum of 11,000 fans.

5) Women are not usually permitted into the Archregimancy. Exceptions will be made for visiting players and properly accredited officials - largely because we have to.

6) Formerly, the Archregimancy made a point of being resentful of being forced to permit atheists, communists, freemasons, assorted heretics and foul excelites into the Archregimancy for home qualifiers. These days the Monastic Football Association tries a little harder to welcome all of the above – though largely in the hope that might just possibly be open to conversion through a slightly more conciliatory approach.

HOME GROUND

The MFA is going through one of its occasional 'let's welcome the heathens in' moods - so for the second tournament in a row, home qualifiers will take place in an actual stadium, in a ground used to host finals matches in WC28.

The Holy Monastery of Panteleimon:

Image

The football ground is in the foreground, right next to the water. It seats some 22,000. Half of this seating will be made available to visiting supporters. Accommodation for visiting teams will be made available in the monastery itself, though female players and officials will be asked to restrict themselves to the comfortable shore-front accommodation just outside the monastery.

Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox Christian element.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 55 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break between WCs 8 and 24 (inclusive), the Holy Empire is proud to be the last currently active nation to have participated in WC1.

This World Cup, the Holy Empire will be fielding a squad of refugees from the Land of Faerie; the reasons for their refugee status will become clearer as the cup progresses

Forwards:
Oberon, King of Faerie

Titania, Queen of Faerie

The two forwards are prone to argue; a lot

Midfielders: [left to right]
Kitsune, the Nine Tailed Fox [takes the form of a human female with fox tail and ears]

Curupira [takes the form of a young boy with flames for hair whose feet are backwards]

Robin 'The Puck' Goodfellow

Saçi-pererê [has one leg, one foot, wears a foul-smelling red hat, and always smokes a pipe]

Tanuki the Raccoon Dog [takes the appearance of a fat raccoon-like animal wearing a wide-brimmed hat; always carries a sake bottle]

The midfielders are quite the set of tricksters, and are quite prone to toying with the opposition

Defenders:
Biróg - last of the fairy women

Queen Mab [captain] - a small woman who is said to drive her fairy chariot into the noses and brains of sleeping people to compel them to experience dreams of wish-fulfillment; the midwife who gives birth to dreams, and spokeswoman for her team

La Belle Dame Sans Merci - quite simply the most beautiful, unforgettable - and dangerous - female ever seen by sentient heterosexual male hominids

The all-female defence are as deadly as they are beautiful

Goalkeeper:
Jengu - a long, wooly haired and gap-toothed smiled dark-skinned mermaid-like figure of indeterminate sexuality

Substitutes:

No substitutes are necessary - the squad are totally impervious to any harm.

An obscure footnote to a subclause of a subsidiary page of the team's official WC55 registration document gives the three coaches the right to take the field as substitutes.

Tactics:

Frosty football is attacking football. The Empire plays a 3-5-2 formation with overlapping wingers that rapidly turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

Style modifier +3

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces

The assistant coaches are World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini, originally a Starblaydi - allegedly - and World Cup legend (though not in the Hall of Fame because I'm too lazy to update the Wiki) Ug-Ug, coming out of footballing retirement for the occasion.

The squad will wear the famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1 (home left, change/away right)

Image

Home matches take place in the jewel-encrusted and gold and platinum-domed Imperial Hippodrome.

RP instructions:
With two exceptions described below, knock yourselves out - creative RP is encouraged.

But please remember that the basic rules for travel to the Archregimancy also apply to the Holy Empire - you'll need someone to build a portal for you, you can't just fly/walk/drive there. If you want to deal with the malleable reality and non-linear time elements of the Dreamed Realm, and have no prior experience of these, it's probably best to check with me first.
Also, only I can decide if and when I might choose to field the coaches as players.

The Queer Poco el Mono Ara World Cup 56 Squad

Coach – Mark Sloan – The long serving Pythons manager led his club side to 5 Una Serie titles before suffering a heart attack, in the saddle for his national team he lead the Whites to the group stage again. Will be hoping to repeat the feat and hopefully surpass it.

Goalkeepers.

01. Davi da Guia. Ridgemont Town. His dad is from Cafundeu and his mum is half Pocoan half Sargossan. He stands 6ft 9 and has an enormous reach, replaces Aruna Traore who is absent with a broken collar bone.
02. James Ladbrooke. Cruzeira’s first team keeper. Quick off the mark, he has great reactions, but is prone of “rushes of blood to the head”.

Defence

01. (CB) Jeffrey Onyewu. Royal Khaldoon The strapping centreback should has won back to back titles with Royal Khaldoon and continues to improve, a domineering presence in the back four. *Captain
02. (CB) Arsenio Jackson. Augustus have a habit of cultivating youth and Arsenio is another lad to emerge from their ranks. Broke into the first team after huge number of outgoings in the transfer market
03. (RB) Clancy Gibson. Pythons have so often bought youth, now they have a young lad who is coming through the ranks without having had to pay millions in exchange for his potential
04. (LB) Dwight Holt. Another graduate of Racing Cruzeira’s incredible academy. A tireless worker who has proven he will chase even the most lost of causes.
05. (CB). Lucian Cramer – It all went a little quiet for Lucian after moving to Almondvale a couple of seasons ago. He’s a consistent performer and will be another lad pleased to be included in the squad.
06. (CB) Phil Ledger. Augustus. Is now a first team regular at a good Augustus side and is already a cup winner having lifted the Trofeo Royal.

Midfield

01. (RM) Aydin Sukur. Continues to improve. The winger made a switch to Valengren and continues to impress. He’s quick and is remembered for scoring a decisive goal in the previous world cup.
02. (DM) Hank Layfield – Made the switch to Cafundeu. Strong central midfielder who puts himself about. Big tackler, good passer. Reliable.
03. (LM) Jordi - Began his career as a right winger but shifted into the centre by club boss Adboulaye Soro. He has since flourished in the middle having the chance to exhibit some of his natural flair. He’s been thrust to the left wing due to the White’s options currently sucking.
04. (CM) Jessie Jay. Valengren Kickers. Proving that the Kickers don’t just rely on the cash from Cafundeu they also have one or two promising youngsters and Jessie is one of them. An attacking midfielder who sits behind the attackers, he proved to be a big hit during his season long loan at Burley United
05. (DM) Graham Potter - The midfielder’s still one of the best young players in QPeMA, he’s a hard hitter for the central midfield if ever they need one.
06. (LM) Gary Dicker – The Almondvale midfielder proves the Whites don’t have a great left winger, being the only natural left footer in the midfield and shunted to the reserves.

Attack

01.(CF) Vijay Kandakram –A constant threat to defences everywhere. QPeMA’s number one striker and current “superstar” international playing in Cafundeu.
02. (CF) Abel Cain. Racing Cruzeira. Making waves in the Cruzeira camp for being an excellent poacher, seems to be there for tap ins all the time, but he’s also got good feet and a powerful shot. Rumored to be on his way to Royal Khaldoon.
03. (CF) Danny Cavanaugh. Augustus. The little fella has pace to burn and will scare the more lumbering of centrebacks. Needs to work on his heading. Another member of the cup winning Augustus side who just keeps getting better.
04. (CF) Henry Onwuzuruike. Real Minanda. Big powerful centre forward who helped Real Minanda to promotion. Expect him to get around the box and make a nuisance of himself.

The Pays de Horreur World Cup 56 Squad

Coach – Felicia le Grossaneux. The sultry lady from deepest, darkest Cherry Falls becomes the first female to take charge of the Horreur national side and will look to her band of merry men to bounce back up the rankings and return to the World Cup after the indignation of not even receiving a Cup of Harmony berth with the previous regime.

The scientifically adjusted monkeys are gone and Pays de Horreur is back to using professional footballers. Obviously, little much has changed in the country itself, so little has changed about the composition of the professional league, there are still representatives from all walks of life in the small Rushmori nation, including the “non-human” entities that inhabit the East coast country.

Goalkeeper.

01. David Arnoux. Wolfenstein Sports Academy. A gargantuan goalkeeper who stands at 7ft and weighs 19stones. For someone of his size he is remarkably agile. He is also double jointed.

Defence

01. (CB) Chirstian Zidane. Kassel County Rangers. This shaven monkey-looking oddball is the star centreback for a double East Rushmore Premier League and Copa de los Principes winning side.
02. (CB) Auguste Chapin. Kassel County Rangers. Zidane’s partner and equally bizarre looking. His cool demeanor and calm presence come from living with his military general father who taught him to be exceptionally disciplined in everything he did.
03. (RB) Vincent Lebouef. Sleepy Hollow Hotspur. The best right back in the ERPL. He likes to get up and down the wing to help out in attack.
04. (LB) Pascal Lombardi. Ambrose County. One of few “non-humans” to make the squad. The left back is a lycanthrope, in the same veins of the archetypal wolfman. Strong, fast… occasionally savage.
05. (CB). Roland Dacourt. Sleepy Hollow Club Sportif. Added to the squad through virtue of his versatility. He can play anywhere along the back four, which isn’t bad for a man with a glass eye, having lost one in a bar fight in Haddonfield.
06. (RB) Remy Pires. Wolfenstein Sports Academy. The baby of the team, he’s only 21. He’s having a “not-so-secret” affair with the coach’s sister who begged Felicia to pick him.

Midfield

01. (RM) Serge Platini. Wolfenstein Sports Academy. WSA’s silky skilled winger who scores more times off the pitch than on it. He’s best known for charging down the wing and bamboozling the defence with a series of lightning quick step-overs.
02. (DM) Jules Blanchard. Kassel County Rangers. He’s big, he’s tough, he’ll kick you in the nuts is a fan favourite chant which describes the midfield hard-man accurately.
03. (LM) Luc Djorkaeff. Sleepy Hollow Hostpur. The son of a gypsy traveler, he settled in the Pays de Horreur capital to play football professionally when spotted by a talent scout. He might have shamanic powers, or it might all be blarney.
04. (CM) Gustave Sagna. Crystal Lake Victoria. A decent centre-mid with a good eye for spotting runs and picking decisive passes, he also scores quite regularly, it’s just a shame his league side are pretty dire.
05. (DM) Franck Bastille. Wolfenstein Sports Academy. A great defensive midfielder who is prone to going walkabouts. Not during the game mind you, but his sleepwalking and frequent blackouts means he disappears most evenings.
06. (LM) David Ginola. Kassel County Rangers. His flowing, long, luxurious locks have caught the eye of shampoo peddling corporate bastards just as well as his play on the Kassel County flanks has caught the eye of the national team coach.

Attack

01.(CF) Lester Crabtree. Wolfenstein Sports Academy. The veteran attacker disappeared after world cup 50. He’s back, fitter than ever and hungrier than ever. It’s just a shame he’s 42.
02. (CF) Julien Oliseh. Kassel County Rangers. A predator in and around the box, Oliseh is a powerhouse centreforward. The striker has fired his club to silverware and hopes to do the same for his country… although it’s pretty unlikely.
03. (CF) Marvin Martin. Sleepy Hollow Club Sportif. A sports science graduate of Sleepy Hollow Metropolitan University. His research on the effects of radiation and sporting potential have left the attacker with tiny testicles and a rage problem.

Coach

Francisco Martinez
Former national team boss of his native Starblaydia, renowned throughout Rushmore following his great successes as player and coach in Nethertopia. More so after leading the Corsairs to Copa Rushmori triumph.

Staff

Jésus Vazquez, Mario Quiñónez & Ernesto Fariás
A triumvirate of former internationals appointed to assist the new boss. Vazquez is a former midfield star currently on the coaching staff at Clube Comercial in Cafundéu. Fariás rattled in 65 goals for the national side, this is his first coaching appointment. Quiñónez is occasional Under-21 Boss.

Talent
Style Modifier = +1
Formation 4-2-3-1
.

GK: 1. José Antonio Leiva (25) – Alianza Jucaro
Big, imposing shot stopper who played a key part in his club side keeping the SuperLiga's meanest defence last season.

DR: 2. Toni Siqueira (20) – Ciudad Soluca
Gallivanting right sided fallback with pace to burn and technique that comes from being half Cafundelense.
DRC: 5. Víctor Monzón (33) – Ciudad Soluca
A rare survivor from the last Sargossa squad. Then he was a fresh faced young defender. Now 'Big Vic' is the experienced leader of the squad and the obvious choice for captain.
DLC: 6. Javi Aguilar (27) – Alianza Jucaro
Centreback with the silky ball skills of a Pocoan masseuse. Has plenty of pace which could be crucial when partnered with the aging Monzón.
DL: 3. Mariano Mansilla (24) – Sporting San Marquez
The boy from the barrios has made good and become a popular figure with the San Marquez faithful.

MC: 4. Lucas Cáceres (26) – El Nacional
There's nothing too showy about Lucas. He's happy to shield the back four all day long. Some might label him a one trick pony. El Nacional label him as vital.
MC: 8. Luís Ángel Landín (25) – Alianza Jucaro
Neat and tidy midfield player who's played a key part in Alianza's Copa Sargossa win last season. Looking forward to showing off his skills to the wider range in the next Unity League.

AMR: 7. Andrés Guerrón (22) – Ciudad Soluca
Right sided winger with pace that could put Olympic medallists to shame. If his delivery was as good he'd be world class.
AMC: 10. Matías Montiel (19) – Ciudad Soluca
Scored 42 goals last season. Forty. Two. Admittedly they were in some noddy regional league but that didn't stop giants Ciudad snapping him up. Impressed at the last DBC.
AML: 11. Alejandro Echeverría (20) – Ciudad Soluca
This boy's a bit special and we're not talking in the crash helmet and crayons sense. Stick him anywhere in the attacking third and he can make something happen. Ciudad reportedly spent silly money to bring him in from Daroca Marinos.

FC: 9. Celso Esquivel (23) – Daroca Marinos
A penalty area predator who led the goalscoring charts last year despite turning out for the modest Marinos. The chances of him staying at the Estadio Bolero seem slim.

GK: 13. Raúl Navas (31) – Dunas Del Sol
DRC: 12. Miguel Bonilla (31) – El Nacional
DC: 22. Bruno Trejo (20) – Deportivo Cordova
DLC: 17. Raúl Salas (26) – Dínamo Maturín
D/ML: 19. Rubén Rochina (19) – El Nacional
MC: 15. Rubén Barrios (24) – Porto Alegro Azul
MRC: 16. Iván Albacar (30) – Alianza Jucaro
AMR: 20. Sergio Tejera (20) – Dínamo Maturín
AMLC: 14. Rubén Cuéllar (25) – Ciudad Soluca
FC: 18. Héctor Riera (27) – Ciudad Soluca
FC: 21. Iván Marcano (19) – Porto Alegro Azul

Stadia

The Corsairs generally play their home fixtures at the 105,000 capacity ediraf Arena in the Sargossan capital, Soluca.

Sarzonia Stars

Manager: Franz Braddock (87 years old)
The Cafundelense World Cup Hall of Fame manager has built a lengthy tenure as Stars manager. Despite critics projections that he'd be one and done as manager, he has taken the Stars to three consecutive World Cup finals appearances and a shock fourth place finish.
Assistant Manager: Kevin Wilson (48)
The younger brother of Sarzonia football legend and current Incorporated Football Federation Chairman Brian Wilson, Kevin managed the Stars B-team to their second-ever AOCAF championship, defeating Starblaydia 3-1. He also is someone who could potentially guide the Stars A-side in the future.
Assistant Manager: Jeong Jihun (40)
The Han native currently serves as the youth manager for Cafundó do Juta three years after his retirement as a player for that team in the Cafudelense national league. He is one of few players to win both the goalscoring title and MVP awards during his playing career.
Goalkeeping Coach: Horace Sandt (54)
Sandt, the lone holdover from the previous Stars managerial staff, has a storied history for the Sarzonian national team. He was the starting goalkeeper who led the Stars to the World Cup XXII title. During his tenure with the Stars, the team advanced to four consecutive semifinals, becoming just the third team to do so behind Rejistania and Eauz.

Squad Listing
(Note: Starters in BOLD. Team plays a 3-5-2 alignment with a plus-3.5 modifier.)

No. Name Position Height Weight
1 Will Brantley GK 5'11" 165 pounds
Brantley, 27, steps up from the AOCAF side to join the first choice national team

3 Mark Cundiff M 5'11, 175 pounds
Rugged, but clean, the 28-year-old Cundiff often serves in a defensive midfield role but can also play the offensive midfielder role if called upon. His versatility with the Woodstock Wild earned him the call up to the big club.

4 George Maxwell D 6'5 225 pounds
Dubbed "the brick wall," Maxwell uses size to be a disruptive element as a defensive player. He's also used in an effort to score off headers and the 30-year-old picked up eight goals in 27 matches that way.

6 George Morrison M 6'2 185 pounds
Drafted out of Joe Gibbs University, Morrison, 27, played for the Nicksia Knights in the SFC until he signed with KT Hotspur in Candelaria and Marquez. Following the withdrawal of a majority of contracts with foreign players, Morrison signed with the Portland Timbers. With the team's status uncertain, he signed a contract with the Woodstock Wild after an impressive tenure there. He is not a particularly pacey player, but has a cannon of a left leg. He will likely be substituted for a player with more flair if the Stars are trailing a match.

7 Tyler McIntosh D 5'11 165 pounds
The young McIntosh (26 years old) signed a contract with the Nicksia Knights and helped the team advance to the Sarzonian Football Confederation playoffs for the first time since 2005. He has improved by leaps and bounds under former Stars striker Anton Gregor, who manages in Nicksia.

8 Laura Grover M 5'6 125 pounds
Grover, 29, dispelled any questions about whether a woman should start for the Stars by drawing comparisons to Jenna Raven, a star player for both Sarzonia's men's and women's World Cup sides. She has strong scoring touch, notching 11 goals in 27 matches for the Woodstock Justice in Sarzonia's women's league. Her coach? You guessed it, Jenna Raven. She suffered a serious ankle sprain on the first day of training camp and has been relegated to the bench until she regains match fitness

9 Ettore Salivani, Jr. M 5'10 155 pounds
The son of former Sarzonia national team standout and Pacitalian emigre Ettore Salivani, the younger Salivani, 29, retains his father's flair, but also picked up on his mother's preternatural calm. He also has outstanding ball skill and is surprisingly adept as a defensive player. Plays for América in Cafundéu's national league.

11 Ted Philyaw D 5'11 145 pounds
Philyaw, 33, serves as the captain of the Saugerties Snakes, owing to his leadership qualities. He's not the fleetest of foot, relying on positioning and anticipating opposing defenders' moves.

13 Clayton Bocanegro M 6'1", 180 pounds
Bocanegro, 32, is the ace playmaking midfielder for the Portland Timbers and the Stars. He's also the designated corner and free kick taker with an educated right boot.

15 Brad Tremblay M 5'9 162 pounds
Tremblay, 26, had trouble sticking with a team in the SFC before finally finding a home with the Portland Timbers. He is arguably the fastest player on the Stars and fires the hardest shot on the team, but his shot is not all that accurate.

17 Matt Lynch F 6'3", 205 pounds
The 31-year-old was the top scorer for the Sarzonian national team during its AOCAF XIX appearance. His tall, lithe frame makes him an inviting target for more aggressive players who invariably find out he can take and dish out punishment. Recently signed a contract with A.F.F. in Cafundéu. Becomes team captain with the abdication of Davis.

18 Pete Weston M 5'10", 165 pounds
Weston, 25 brings a lot of energy and a great work rate to the table for the Saugerties Snakes. He is easily the hardest working player on the team. Weston often provides a spark off the players' bench in the event the team plays lethargically.

19 Dave Spencer D 6'5", 225 pounds
Big and brawny, Spencer, 24 also plays a rather physical style that can knock midfielders and forwards off their game. Added to the squad in an effort to address The Holy Empire's physical style of play from the previous World Cup.

20 Colin Rudolph M 6'2", 215 pounds
A blend of physicality and skill gave Rudolph, 26 a tryout with the team. He earned it through his chemistry with other players on the squad. Was added to the squad in an effort to provide it with more depth players after an exhausting run through to the World Cup semifinals.

23 Dennis Crandall F 6'2", 200 pounds
The 24-year-old's sheer speed and elusiveness can surprise many defenders, and often does when he plays with the Nicksia Knights. With Zack Wilson suffering an international career-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament, Crandall becomes a starter up top.

24 Johan Lester F 6'5", 230 pounds
A target player, plain and simple, the 30-year-old does well with scoring on rebounds and crosses, but would not do well as a withdrawn forward. Usually brought in as a bench player. Would hamper Sarzonia's offensive system in the event he'd have to play a full 90 minutes.

27 Joel A'Hearn GK 6'2" 215 pounds
At 24 years old, A'Hearn is projected as a future starting goalkeeper for Sarzonia. He's the unquestioned second choice goalkeeper after Kelvin Russell's retirement, although with Cody Taylor now out of the picture, expect to see him get more playing time.

Manager/Coach: A rather large, unfriendly Bear named Boris
-Boris won 'So you think you can Coach?' TV competition a few years ago after he ate another competitor and a judge, and all the other contestants withdrew from the competition. He is prone to ripping apart the nearest person when he's angry. Since then he has led the Tretskivucian team into the World Cup 53 and onto the Round of 16. the Tretskivucian Football Committee decided this was enough to allow him to coach again. The other year, he brought the team to 3rd place in the 46th Cup of Harmony. He has constantly performed well enough to qualify us for the WC most years.
