Mods have lives? I thought they were robots this whole time.

I am not a robot, I'm not a robot! They dressed me like this! And this isn't my positronic brain, it's a false one!

And, yes, looks like Kryo removed this for a category violation. Take some time to review the categories as described in the rules (there's a link to proposal rules in my signature) before submitting. You may need to add active clauses, or perhaps a line or two to the preamble, to justify the chosen category.

"You are more than just a vote!"

Look, just because you don't like me doesn't mean you should automatically assume I'm some evil forumgoer who likes to strawman people. Believe it or not, I was actually arguing with Jarish for a reason: Jarish did claim that the internet had no value in an educational setting, something I contested and I'm sure you would too, if you weren't so busy trying to find ways to make me be the one in the wrong.

I never stated that the internet had no value in an educational setting. I stated that it was of great educational value.

Where? Because I specifically quoted where you said, under no uncertain terms, it was not a valuable educational tool.

Nor is it a valuable educational, social or political tool. Normally it's the opposite of that.

Students are not learning any useful skills by using the internet.

So again, why should governments provide internet and encourage antisocial tendencies?

I don't recall a single part in the conversation where you claimed the internet had any educational value whatsoever.

OOC: Odds of a new player who doesn't partake here, doing any of that are pretty much zero. But a new player who starts partaking here, will soon enough find out who is who, and who just appears to be someone.

In any case, based on a TG reply from Llorens, he's not really interested in watching our bickering on the topic, and thus the topic itself.

Llorens, if you read this, edit the first post's subject line to change it from [PROPOSED] to something like [ABANDONED]. You can also ask for the mods to lock it at this megathread in Moderation Forum: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=51860

Even though the idea of having all countries have access to the internet would really help the education system of the nation and its economy, it would be really hard for a non-developed country to fund everyones internet access, setting up networks accross all the country would be really hard and wouldn't have much public interest since they are uneducated, a more possible solution is your second point, to encourage countries to fund library facilities with internet-access resources, but then again, they have higher priorities like security, if you are in a non-developed country, and you build a library, who is going to be able to read? And what stops the people from stealing the computers if the government is not spending their money on security but on internet access.

OOC: This is my first reply and I am not sure if I made my point clear, thank you anyways.
