[Draft]Motion to Allow Capital Punishment as Nations See Fit

Postby Goathland » Mon May 16, 2016 6:23 am

The World Assembly,
Recognizing the motion against cruel and unusual punishment has gathered support
Believing that every nation should be permitted to dispatch with its criminals how they choose
Noting that individual national sovereign freedom is what is debated
Reinstating that nations should be allowed to punish its citizens for their wrong doing as they see fit no matter the charges.
Understanding that individual preferences on the matter may very by nation
Restating that every member state should have the ability to excercise whatever form of punishment they choose upon their citizens for crimes they have been found guilty for which would be but are not limited to:

1. Murder

2. Illegal Substance Abuse

3. Domestic Violence

4. Insurrection

5. Infringement of moral rights and obligations

Believing that EVERY nation deserves the right to make this decision
Noting that it should be up to each nation to govern their people with a fair but gentle hand
Recognizing that some nations may take this legislation out of line and comit atrocities on their peoples
Reassuring that those nations WILL be met with a condemnation motion by the WA
Resolving the issues of individual national freedoms of civic punishmnet on their peoples and criminals for various crimes which are to be decided by trials by fair juries.

"Illegal. The Security Council does not concern itself with the actions of the General Assembly."
INTP, -4.25 Economic Left/Right, -4.1 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian, tastes like chicken.
I do use NS stats, thank you very much.

1) Duplication.
2) Contradiction.
3) The General Assembly cannot condemn nations, so that's a Game Mechanics violation.
4) Your title exceeds the character limit.
5) Category? Strength?
6) That isn't how you use the word "reinstating".
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.

It doesn't duplicate Convention on Execution. It contradicts it in that it provides no safeguards against abuse.

Isn't this already enforced? Why do we need to discuss this. In my country, the death penalty is illegal, but in others it is. In my opinion, this is an unnecessary draft.
