"Yes, I would call them slaves. Is a man who does not own himself not a slave simply because his master feeds him well, shelters him, teaches him? Is he no longer a slave simply because he may wander the fields whenever he wants? Is he free simply because he does not wear chains? You seem to misunderstand the relationship between happiness and freedom. Freedom brings about happiness. Happiness does not bring about freedom.

"In addition, your technological advancements have no roots in which type of government you have. Such developments can--and have--occurred in democratic republics.

"Lastly, I'd like you to explain how the people have chosen monarchy if there is no democratic process. Too many times have monarchies cited the people's failure to rebel as a sign that the people are content with their circumstances. So tell me, how do you know this?"

"Sorry, Mr. Markhov. I just...I hate monarchies. Anything with a crown makes my blood boil. Anyway, considering that the repeal attempt against Reproductive Freedoms' actually made it to vote, my stance against this proposal is only more cemented. Of course, anything written by the transient Stellonian delegation is unlikely to earn my favor."

Parsons: Mate, we have a Privy Council and the prefix before the government is HM. And all of our news dispatches about elections talk about the Prime Minister and the King-Emperor. However it is, the rest of the room is empty and I'm headed back to the office for some sleep.

"Can we stop this talk about Monarchies already and get back to the proposal before us? The fact of the matter that the Ambassador from Stellonia has yet to prove any sort of contradiction between GAR #128 and GAR #286 goe to show that this is not only a worthless repeal proposal, but the Ambassador has no clue what they are doing. I suggest that this meet the file cab....I mean paper shredder."

"I would suggest the incinerator. As you said, the Ambassador has no idea what she is doing. We don't need to leave any trails of this awful repeal attempt."

"Don't mess with my repeal draft, or I'll use the incinerator on you!" the ambassador threatened, an evil gleam in her eye.

"I'd like to see you try," says Trevanyika, irritated at the collapsing discussion.

Girls, girls, back on topic please. Sheesh.

So anyway, my two cents worth from an outsider whose species can't get pregnant so this wouldn't affect us. Your repeal attempt is self-contradictory. On the one tire you say it's unnecessary as it's a subset of GAR#286. On the other tire you say GAR#128 allows physicians to opt out, even though that's something that isn't spelled out in GAR#286, which means it is not a subset of GAR#286. You can't have it both ways. Pick one.

"Oh, they don't need to bother with an incinerator," Janis said, shouldering the fuel tank of her flamethrower. "I always keep this one ready for shit proposals," she added with a nasty grin.

OOC: The flamethrower is a well-established tool for debate for my ambassador, it's never aimed at ambassadors, as the weapons-nullifiers would act on that, merely at proposals that are better off floating away in ashes.
