Would "Another triumph for Gatesville!" be too obscure nowadays to be worth mentioning?

What about the alleged side-effects of Bar's tea?

Oh, it's a Strangers' Bar thing. Most of those things will be left out, unfortunately, because if it was up to the bar regulars we'd be reciting Barlordian Conventions till the cows come home. The Bar itself, and the Barlordian Laws, are there, and I'm considering adding the Shrine of the Manifestation, but little else beyond that will be included.

I think that term is more recent. I remember people complaining about DLE's tech wank back then but I don't remember anyone calling it "DLE-wank" while DLE was still playing.

A memorable international incident from days long past, when GAer Sophista threatened to refuse compliance with the controversial Historical Resolution Law of the Sea, only to be challenged militarily by now-moderator Frisbeeteria. Since neither nation had a very powerful or fearsome army, they agreed to sort out their differences with an internationally broadcast game of dodgeball, where players hit with balls would become POWs for the opposing nation. It is (or at least, was) often cited as a prime example of "roleplayed noncompliance," though no one's really certain who actually won the historic bout. Since no one's seen Sophista around in awhile, I think it was Fris.

Good on ya for remembering that one! I wish I'd preserved the content (between Jolt and my own hard drive crashes, it's long gone), but Sophista and I had great fun with it. I do still have the official logo from the joint broadcasts from Murdock Metro Media and the Sophista Dodgeball Defense Network:

There are several more-or-less complete Jolt archives; if you remember the thread number I can find it for you.

nm; found it! The "official" Jolt archive is still incomplete, but luckily all the old NationStates threads are still there.

OK, I know someone out there has an answer for me: was Bob Flibble's trout 17 pounds or 19 pounds? I'm almost certain it was 17, but for some reason I'm having doubts.

According to this it was 17. And that sounds right. 19 pound trout doesn't ring a bell but 17 pound sounds familiar.

I lost some of my archived threads due to a computer glitch. I hope I can find em in there, cause that would be awesome if they were still listed in there.

Worth mentioning his "genetic jackhammer" (in refeence to that whole 'World Heritage List' mess), too?

World Heritage List warrants an entry, perhaps, but I think genetic jackhammer originated elsewhere, like a discussion on prostitution or something.

That's OK, American rules regarding quote-marks are complicated; it's hard to know when punctuation is actually supposed to be inside or outside the mark.

At any rate, I have added a some new ones (with a few more possibly to come):

  • 17-lb trout
  • AO conspiracy
  • Bribes
  • DLE
  • Eradicate the Arctochephalinae
  • Fluffy
  • Foul-mouthed dolphins
  • Glog
  • i comply
  • Read the resolution!
  • Victory for Gatesville!
  • WhaleCo Global LLC
  • World Heritage List (WHL)
  • WZ Forums/Jimmy Hart
...and maybe a few others I added but forgot to make note of.

So, look over those for errors and let me know if anything else merits an entry.

Thanks all!

When your ambassador is talking or something, punctuation goes inside the marks. When you're quoting someone (differs occasionally) then the punct. goes outside the marks. :)

Trust me, I was a newspaper reporter, and AP style on quote marks was not that simple. If it's complete sentences, everything goes inside; if it's incomplete phrases or scarequotes, periods or commas go inside, question marks and exclamation points go outside. Unless the question mark or exclamation point is actually part of the phrase (or not part of the complete sentence) being quoted, then...sigh...the world blows up.

MLA is a bit easier. But sadly American English is so fucked up with punctuation that is rather pathetic.
