Upon further review, it appears there was a clerical error regarding the removal of this proposal from the submission queue. We regret this error and encourage Ambassador Pearson to resubmit this legislation under the Global Disarmament category. As was demonstrated by the passage of GA #121, Medical Facilities Protection, Global Disarmament is the proper category for this proposal.

Is that resubmission going to go straight to queue?
Because personally, considering the alternative circumstances, I'd like to see someone discharged from service over this egregious error.

It would be wonderful if the moderation tools would enable us to do that so as to quickly and efficiently fix the mistake. Unfortunately, mods have no way to force a resolution to queue (or to put one back in that was pulled.) The grand extent of mod tools in regards to proposals is that we can delete them.

Might not be a bad suggestion to throw over in Technical for [violet] to chew on, though. If accidental mis-clicks and similar errors are more than a very occasional occurrence, it might well be worth badgering the techies into improving the toolkit.

While I appreciate finally getting an answer, I will not be resubmitting this, as it is dead in the water. Any forum regular here knows that the two deletions will run rampant, and I will not put myself through that stress.

What I want is a formal apology from the mod that deleted this, stickied at the top for all to see. I also want transparency, I want to know if a forum mod has the ability to pull proposals. I want to know why this was deleted with no consultation, even though Mouse made it very clear that is required here: viewtopic.php?p=20624869#p20624869

I also want this thread locked, and to go away where it cannot be referenced and thrown in my face when I try to legislate again (if I ever do). I do not want what could have been my crown achievement in legislation tied to one of the biggest instances of moderator abuse ever seen.

I don't believe I am asking for too much here, and my statement of filing a direct appeal to moderation on this by 0700 MST still stands if I have not received word on this by then.

Once again, thank you for finally responding to this Reppy. I appreciate it, and hope my faith in moderation can be somewhat restored.

You have already been given that apology by Mousebumples on behalf of the moderator who made the error. There is no reason to reveal which game moderator actually made the error- they have been appraised of what they did wrong and to pay better attention to the moderator discussion threads when reviewing proposals for deletion. I'm sorry it is not exactly the apology that you wanted, but we are not going to humiliate a moderator over an innocent error.

To answer your questions, we have limited transparency for a reason, in part to prevent people "shopping" around for a game moderator that they feel may rule the way they want and to also shield game moderators from being harassed in-game for moderation actions. Forum moderators do not have access to the game moderator tools and cannot remove proposals, only game moderators can do so. As already noted in the Secretariat post by Mouse, it was a clerical error, a mistake caused by the moderator reading past discussion about the proposal, seeing it had been submitted, and missing the fact it had been updated and deemed legal. There is no evidence of any malice or ill intent in the deletion.

Per your request, the thread will be locked, but there is no reason to remove it from view. If somebody attempts to use this moderator mistake to tar your future legislative efforts, feel free to point me at them and I will happily disabuse them of the notion. Alternatively, you can point them at Mouse's post or mine to pretty solidly destroy any such attempts right out of the gate.

The instance in question is not "one of the biggest instances of moderator abuse ever seen." Even if it had been a deliberate act of moderator malice instead of an honest mistake, it would still rate among the smallest. (Largest still goes to the only moderator who was dishonorably kicked off the team very publicly by [violet] and Max after outright going rogue and deleting threads and players without cause in 2004.) It was a mistake, and one in which the moderator who made the mistake has been admonished and appraised of what they did in error.

I am sorry that this error has discouraged you from pursuing your proposal, and potentially discouraged you from future endeavors in the Assembly. If it were in the game mods' power to put your proposal back into the queue, endorsements intact and ready to head to the voting floor, it would have been done immediately and gladly. Lacking such abilities, all I can offer is the above explanation and reinforce the apology already given.
