[JOKE]A Ban on Bad Things

Postby Helltank » Sun Jul 28, 2013 12:48 am

Inspired by the actions of Examplistan in the Guide to Creating a Security Council Proposal in the SC forum.

The World Assembly:
Horrified that bad things continue to happen in many nations,

Noting that some nations may not understand what is a bad thing and how to stop it,

Disgusted by how some nations continue to allow bad things to happen even though they know how to stop them, hereby

Definesa bad thing as "a thing that is bad",

Mandates that all nations should strictly ban the occurrence of bad things and enforce this ban,

Further encourages nations to notify their fellow nations if they notice bad things happening there, and

Believes that if this proposal is carried out, bad things will not happen any more, and that is a good thing.

Absolutely perfect. A masterpiece.

Defines a bad thing as "a thing that is bad",

Circular definition. Perhaps "defines a bad thing as "something that is opposite to good"

I suggest you add a clause to create a Bad Thing Prevention Committee of nosy old ladies from across the WA, to make sure this proposal is enforced.

I prefer the definition of "a bad thing" as "anything detrimental towards the wellbeing of sapient beings", but that's still being circular in a roundabout way :/

Against.

Different nations have different ways of determining bad from good.
Legalize owning RPG's and nuclear weapons, reinstate hanging, add in burning meat grinders, stop giving shits for airplane crashes, shut the fuck up about banning guns, the south will NOT rise again, you are just ignorant, look down on the poor, modify genetics so fat kids taste like bacon, cats are better than dogs, if you don't like what's going on in the middle east, fix it yourself, Obama is a good president, just a bad Congress, MLP is a kickass show.

You forgot to include a line repealing all other past, present, and future resolutions. After all, if all the bad things are banned, there's really no need for any other legislation.

Since Justin Bieber does not have a nation on NationStates as far as we're aware, then no, it's not a flame.

The above is the mod reply to your report of Helltank's post. :palm:

Other than that, I think this "proposal" has run its course and ceased being funny. The kindest option would be to let it sink into oblivion. The unkind option includes a flamethrower.

I'm sorry, I seriously can't resist given the mod ruling. If Justin Bieber did have a nation, I would nuke the living crap out of it, over, and over and over.... Just sayin' 8)

Direct Recursion: See "Direct Recursion"

Indirect Recursion: See "Recursion, Indirect"

Recursion, Indirect: See "Indirect Recursion"

Indirect Recursion is Bad.
It is a bad thing to use Recursion in a Resolution.
This resolution uses Recursion.
Therefore, this resolution bans itself.
