5-2-1-2
------------------BENNEDETTO------------------

-----NAZAZARI ----- SERGIO ----- DEL NARAN----- BIGOTTI------DILLNORE

------ DIADORA ------ PRINZIO

------ NIERAN -------

----- CESC ----- JAZAS-----

Goalkeepers:

1- Roberto BENNEDETTO (Team: FC Mildrid) – VICE CAPTAIN
Height: 196cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 18 years old
Roberto Bennedetto is regarding by many to be the next great keeper in Erathore. From a very young age it was evident that he was exceptionally skilled at his position. At the age of 13 he was scouted and recruited by the FC Mildrid youth team and started in the junior squad. 3 years later he was moved up to the actual Mildrid team for the upcoming game against Manlio. It was immediately evident just how skilled he was. He didn’t make the flashiest saves and did give up a goal, but covered shooting angles on every possible shot, except the one on which he was scored upon and that was a controversial goal in which Mildrid claimed he had been obstructed. He was offered a position at Juvillian Martinax but stayed with his childhood club. He was also selected for the Erathore National team for the World Cup #54 and Baptism of Fire #40.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A

12- Bayard GREGIO (Team: Asia FC, Zarbli)
Height: 191cm – Weight: 78kg – Age: 19 years old
Bayard Gregio used to be one of the leading Seria-B keepers before moving to Asia FC in Zarbli where fans eagerly await to see how he will perform. He excels at jumping, diving, and challenging. He has a weak goal kick however, and this is what led him to being a substitute. He always gives his best effort, even when he cannot reach the ball.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

Right Defenders:

2- Fredrico del NAZAZARI(Team: Jutear)
Height: 163cm – Weight: 68kg – Age: 19 years old
Nazazari originally played as a forward, but, due to the ever toughening competition he was competing with as a forward he decided to transfer to right defender. Fredrico is very talented at passing and dribbling and will not hesitate to take the ball all the way to the opposition’s corner before crossing it to a forward. His main pitfall are his challenges, he can rarely pull one of, regardless of the skill of the opposition.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

21- SERGIO Modderna (Team: Internazcionale Elidoro)
Height: 175cm – Weight: 69kg – Age: 20 years old
Extremely fast and excellent with passes, Sergio prefers to take the ball all the way to the goal if given the chance, instead of pulling the cross from the corner like Nazazari does. He has poor heading skills, never being able to direct the ball.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A

Left Defenders:

3- Jackio DILLNORE (Team: Matazerri)
Height: 170cm – Weight: 66kg – Age: 18
Dillnore is the youngest member of the team and the smallest. Looks are deceiving however, as Jackio is very proficient at tackling and hitting the long ball. His most celebrated action during his football career was in a friendly game against Seria-A team Jutear earlier this year. Dillnore went toe to toe with Jutear’s start striker, slid in and poked the ball out, and took a shot on goal from the half-line. The ball bounced off the crossbar to go in for the game-winning goal. After the game Jutear offered him a lucrative contract and he has yet to reveal whither or not he will stay with Matazerri or move to Jutear.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A

24- WILLMIO Autitore (Team: Poweran)
Height: 176cm – Weight: 73kg – Age: 18 years old
Autitore is a player who would prefer to take the ball from the opposition, out dribble a forward or mid, then pass it to a teammate, or better yet pass it right off the bat. Whilst this leads to him gaining many an assist, it doesn’t help him with his footwork or dribbling. It is hoped that by placing him on the Di Brandi cup team, he will feel more inclined to hold onto the ball a little bit longer.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: B

Central Defender:

4- Marcello BIGOTTI (Team: Dingo)
Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 20 years old
Bigotti is an accomplished footballer who is strong in all aspects of the game. Passing, dribbling, shooting, tackling, he has no real fault. The only complaint one may offer is that he prefers to handle the ball himself, rather then trust it with a teammate. Looking to be placed on the national team for the next World Cup team, he hopes to get over this quirk of his during the Di Brandi Cup.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: C – Morale: A – Form: A

11- Felipe MAZARI (Team: Azzuri)
Height: 169cm – Weight: 71kg – Age: 18 years old
Mazari is an aerial specialist despite his short height. He is capable of jumping several feet into the air to head the ball down, trap it, dribble past the opposition, the pass it to a forward. He has solid passes and a good leg to tie the package together.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A

Sweeper:

5- Vanni DEL NARAN (Team: Charzzan)
Height: 173cm – Weight: 73kg – Age: 20 years old
Narazn is a promising player although he only starts around half of the games for Charzzan. His main strength comes from his ability to bend the ball and his accurate passes. Together these two attributes create a deadly combo against any defender. Nazaran was also selected for the National Team. It is hoped that that by putting him in the Di Brandi and the National team will help improve his playing.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

Defensive Midfielders:

6- Yavanni DIADORA (Team: Vargas)
Height: 171cm – Weight: 70kg – Age: 20 years old
Diadora is one of the most professional, serious footballers of his age. He never seems to smile or celebrate until the game is over, as he knows something could go wrong at any moment. He has relatively weak kicks, but has good passing and dribbling skills to even it out. Just because he has a serious attitude does not mean Diadora is above throwing in a soft elbow every once in a while. Soft as in ribs will be bruised and possibly broken.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: C – Morale: B – Form: A

15- Nathan STRANGZLIO (Team: Maxio)
Height: 182cm – Weight: 76kg – Age: 17 years old
Strangzlio is a good player, but not outstanding. He has clean; crisp passes, a good leg capable of hitting the ball downfield quite a ways, and is a fast player. He loves to play, he loves the game and it is evident. He plays his hardest and always gives it his all. He refuses to be subbed, one time when playing for Maxio, his coach had to literally drag him off the field. Needless to say he subbed back in five minutes later.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: A

Neutral Midfielders:

8- PRINZIO Delethor (Team: Dubor FC)
Height: 172cm – Weight: 74kg – Age: 19 years old
Prinzio is widely considered to be one of the better deadballers on the U-21 team. He has strong kicks, good passing, and wonderful footwork. He is extremely fast and proficient at standing tackles.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A

27- Lorenzo GIANLUIGI (Team: Internazcionale Elidoro)
Height: 181cm – Weight: 81kg – Age: 21 years old
Gianluigi is a talented footballer that has played since the early ages of his life. He is equally skilled at tackling and defense as he is passing and offense. He posses’ high stamina and speed resulting in him being able to run fast for a long time.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: A

Offensive Midfielders:

7- DIZANARO Tucci (Team: FC Arron)
Height: 183cm – Weight: 82kg – Age: 18 years old
The (slightly) older of the Tucci Twins, Dizanaro loves to play midfield with an aggressive touch. His passes are crisp and on target. He can place his shots anywhere in the net from the half-field line and closer. His last second goal from the half-field line with FC Arron earlier this year clinched Arron’s 4th place title, the highest in 5 years. He loves to pass the ball to his brother, the dynamic striker for FC Arron, which oftentimes leads to criticism.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: A

9- JUVEN Tilo (Team: Strazza)
Height: 179cm – Weight: 78kg – Age: 20 years old
Juven is an accomplished offensive midfielder that used to stand between the posts as a keeper. He maintained this position long enough to develop a killer leg that allows him to, now in the midfield position, lob the ball downrange, rip the ball at goal during a free kick, or even take a goal kick. He is not a good tackler; he tends to lead with his hands, a trait appreciated for a keeper but not a field player. This has lead to more then a few handball calls and even a few penalties.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: A

Forwards/Striker:

10- FranCESC Celestino Sergio(FC Mildrid) --CAPTAIN
Height: 176cm – Weight: 75kg – Age: 17
Francesc Celestino Sergio is the new face of football in Erathore. Thanks to a rather successful international footballing win-loss ratio, the domestic game has been supercharged and the results are showing. Impressive coaching, many new public fields, and much more have come together to encourage the new breed of national team players. Francesc is the first of the new breed. A product of the FC Mildrid Youth Academy and a promising striker, Sergio already has a year of experince in professional footballing under his belt, albeit it was with Seria-C team Erathore National Football Club. He led them to a #4 finish, scoring 11 goals on the way. This attracted his home club, FC Mildrid, who signed him on for a 5-year contract.

11- Gordine De JAZAS (Team: Futura Erathore SC)
Height: 179cm – Weight: 79kg – Age: 20 years old
Jazas is the counterpart to Tucci. Where Tucci likes to shoot, Jazas is content with passing it to someone with a better shooting ability. That’s not to say he doesn’t shoot, or score for that matter. It just means that he has placed more trust in his teammates then in himself. Hopefully the Di Brandi will encourage him to change that and to place more confidence in himself and see him shooting more.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: B – Form: A

23- Marcello TUCCI (Team: Futura Erathore SC)
Height: 183cm – Weight: 80kg – Age: 18 years old
The younger of the Tucci Twins, Marcello is the primary striker for FC Arron, the same Seria-B club his brother plays for. He is a powerful kicker who has no problem putting the ball right at the net. He is mildly proficient at bending the ball, allowing him to shoot from obscure angles. His passes could use some work though. He is a primarily shooting forward instead of an assisting forward.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: B

The Astograth U-21 National Football Team

Style: +1

Manager: Xanti Tzoroza - Age 67

Starting XI:
GK - 1 - Churio Muniya - Age 21 - Echegoyan FC
Back-up keeper for the mid-table Echegoyan, Muniya's quick feet and superb handling tell of a bright future ahead.

LB - 12 - Gorri Mendizko - Age 21 - South Factory

Already a starter for the small South Factory, Mendizko has a healthy dose of first-level experience that complement his speed and thunderous shot.

CB - 3 - Sotil Burruchaga - Age 19 - Royal Association
One of the younger members of the team, Burruchaga's covering and anticipation have earned him a call-up and a transfer from the relegated Royal Association to the prestigious Sporting Iturributa.

CB - 5 - Ubelteso Adin - Age 21 - Royal Association
One of the best players to recently come out of Royal Association's youth ranks, Adin will no doubt be trying to impress enough to earn a transfer. His calm and excellent passing set him apart from other defenders.

RB - 4 - Benat Uranga - Age 19 - Ituraitz Victory
For a player to be a fundamental part of a team's promotion to the top level is always an achievement, but even more so when the player in question is barely 19! Uranga led Ituraitz Victory to the win time and time again, and is one of os Astograth's hottest prospects at this Di Bradini Cup.

LM - 7 - Soter Larreaga - Age 21 - Urbizania Wanderers

Despite being unable as of yet to break into Wanderer's first-team, Larreaga is one of this team's vital pieces, his twisting runs down the wing and into the middle leaving defenders stunned.

CM - 14 - Zorion Legeren (CAPTAIN) - Age 21 - Sporting Iturributa

First-team starter at the powerful Sporting, Legeren is a mature, intelligent midfielder who is just as likely to play a killer through-ball as he is to dribble right into the box.

RM - 21 - Itzeder Unzueta - Age 20 - Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Athletic Club Rumiatzi's only highlight in their dysmal campaign, Unzueta likes to deliver a very special kind of cross, and early one that curls right between the opposing goalkeeper and his center-backs. More often than not, confusion sets in and a goal can be easily scored.

AM - 10 - Otz Lasuen - Age 18 - Echegoyan FC

The youngest member of the starting line-up, Lasuen is the team's playmaker, carefully maintaining tempo will coordinating attack. It is an enormous responsability, but he has shown to be quite capable.

LF - 11 - Gaizkine Liroz - Age 20 - Sporting Iturributa
At only 20, Liroz looks set to take over from Endira Berrioz as the leading striker for Sporting, and he does not lack the talent to do so. Despite being rather short and his dribbling not stellar, his shots are quick, powerful and unpredictable.

RF - 9 - Beremando Aldoaga - Age 20 - Blue Mountain Range
A giant of a player, Aldoaga's 1.97m make him first choice when heading of any kind needs to be done. He can tower over and power his way through any defense, though his comparative lack of pace often hinders him.

Substitutes:
GK - 13 - Astigar Barrueta - Age 21 - Ituraitz FC
The team's backup goalkeeper, Barrueta is one of Ituraitz' best young prospects. He will be going on loan soon to the promoted Ibarbe Polo Club, but in the near future he can realistically challenge for the #1 jersey.

GK - 23 - Aurken Krestia - Age 20 - Ituraitz FC
Another goalkeeper from Ituraitz, Krestia's coaches reckon he still has a few years left playing in youth ranks and reserve fixtures before he is useful. Krestia himself disagrees, and this call-up certainly signals he is ready to be playing top-flight football.

LB - 6 - Urtzi Galard - Age 17 - Royal Rumiatzi
Galard is the talk of Royal Rumiatzi. A fast, talented youngster who looks set to be both a senior national team regular and an excellent player for his club.

CB - 2 - Itziar Amiso - Age 20 - Urbizania Wanderers
Amiso is a large, strong defender with a tendency to carelessly tackle harder than he should. Red cards are his bane, which is why he will not be starting.

CB - 16 - Tartalo Maruri - Age 20 - Iturributa United
A smart defender who can anticipate what is coming with ease, he will probably be a first-team regular for Cup-winners United in the future.

RB - 18 - Enetz Lorza - Age 20 - Royal Rumiatzi

An exciting right-back, he will probably be going out on loan as his place in Royal Rumiatzi's starting line-up is already taken by someone the manager holds in higher esteem.

LM - 17 - Zuzen Barta - Age 17 - Iturributa United
Currently United's best youngster, Barta is full of energy and skill, and one can only imagine what kind of havok he and Urtzi Galard would cause down the left wing if placed together.

CM - 15 - Inguma Sapano - Age 21 - Sporting Iturributa
Often said to be Zorion Legeren's shadow, Sapano has been unable to get regular football at his club despite having much the same qualities as his rival.

RM - 22 - Lukar Mendikoa - Age 19 - Ituraitz FC
Despite being often overlooked in favor of Itzeder Unzueta, Mendikoa is a quality player, faster and with a better shot. He will have to work hard at club level, though, as his place on the right wing is taken by senior national team player Egerdi Bordato.

AM - 8 - Kepa Loyaga - Age 20 - Urbizania Wanderers
An attacking midfielder who is not so much a playmaker as much as a third forward. He is fast and his shots are accurate and strong, but unless the team is desperate for a goal the smooth passing of Otz Lasuen will be preferred.

F - 20 - Peli Echetore - Age 20 - South Factory
Though not very technically gifted, Echetore is very fast and relies on is speed to beat defenders and take a shot at goal.

F - 19 - Otzoko Landin - Age 20 - Royal Rumiatzi

Landin is a peculiar striker, because he doesn't score as many goals as he could. This is because his passing is very crisp, and he excels at beating defenders, sometimes even the goalkeeper, and then casually passing the ball for his strike partner to fire into the net.

"Hohohohoho!" The mad scientist's laughter echoed through the empty hallways.

He always thought nothing about sports but them being useful distractions or a waste of time. Yet, he caught himself watching football matches on TV at night. As any good mad scientist would do, he tried to find the answer to that contradiction.

Now he knows that he always disliked sports because he couldn't win at them. Then he immediately thought of a solution: he is too portly to play himself, but he can do the next best thing - build his own team! A team of football-playing robots that wouldn't have the limitations of silly human players should be able to win easily.

However, he found out that, while physically the robots were up to snuff, no amount of neural AI would get them good enough to win at a professional level.

Like that would stop him. He soon had another idea. Collect data about the best players around, and program the robots based on that! Then his ideas started flying even wilder. The best players of all time! Sure thing, he programmed the players based on footage and whatever resources he could dredge.

It would take a lot of time to iron all the bugs out, he found out, even using neural AI to make the robots learn with each game. However, the old Doctor isn't one to give up once he had a stroke of genius.

My team will be INVINCIBLE!

1- Y4S-H1N "Lev" (goalkeeper)
2- CAR-L05 "Roberto" (left wing-back)
3- M00-RE "Bobby μ" (central defender)
5- BCK-NBR "Franz" (central defender)
6- DJ4-LM4 "Santos"(right wing-back)
4- CHR-LTN "Bobby χ" (central midfielder)
7- D1-D1 "Mr. Football" (central midfielder, captain)
10- MR-DN "Diego" (attacking midfielder)
8- B3-ST "George" (left winger)
11- P3-L3 "Edson" (striker)
9- GRN-CH4 "Mané" (right winger)

12- Z0-FF "Dino" (reserve goalkeeper)
13 - CR1-JFF "Johan" (super-sub)
14 - R0N-LD0 "Nazario" (reserve striker)
15- M4L-DN1 "Paolo" (reserve defender)
16- MTT-HU5 "Lothar" (reserve midfielder)
17- G3R-S0N "Nunes" (reserve midfielder)

Paint job: Red with black and chrome accents. When the opponents use similar colors, the robots will be repainted metallic blue, dull silver and yellow.

When referring to this nation, please call it "Eggman Empire", thank you.

"Mobians didn't have any rights to the land and there was no reason for anyone to grant them rights which they had not conceived and were not using... What was it they were fighting for, if they opposed my industrial might? For their wish to continue a primitive existence, their 'right' to keep part of the earth untouched, unused and not even as property. As I brought civilization to this land, I had all the rights to take it."

In Newmanistanian time, only one year has passed since the last Di Bradini Cup. Emperor Michael IV thanks the organizers for expanding the tournament.

OFFICIAL NEWMANISTAN DI BRADINI CUP 17 ROSTER

Head Coach: Steve Tremblay
Age: 46
Club Team: Loudon Leopards
Bio: Steve likes offensive, attack minded football, but knows how to do it cautiously and not jeopardize the defense. He’s a likeable person, and players work hard for him. He also coaches the senior team.

Assistant Coach: Tony Allen
Age: 39
Club Team: Hampton Bulldogs
Bio: Preaches a defensive style at home, and does a great job getting the most out of the players he puts on the pitch.

Assistant Coach: Robert Palmer
Age: 44
Club Team: Dover City Mountaineers
Bio: Replaced Chris Merrill in Dover City, Palmer preaches a style of high work ethic and overall gritty and physical play.

**** STARTING LINEUP ****

Name: Danny Marshall
Position: GK
Age: 20
Jersey #: 1
Club Team: South Charlotte Condors
Bio: Looks to be a great keeper for the future. His best attribute would be his reflexes, and his ability to out-think the shooter.

Name: Chris Dayten
Position: LB
Age: 18
Jersey #: 3
Club Team: Pocono City Capitals
Bio: You don’t get signed by the Capitals as a 14-year old unless you are something special, and Chris has shown to be just that. After two seasons of playing for their “B”-League affiliate, Dayten got full-time duty in the NPL and impressed, winning the Rookie Defender of the Year award. Off the pitch, he is immune to distraction and concentrates solely on making himself better. Very impressive during WC54.

Name: Alexander Gilles
Position: LCB
Age: 21
Jersey #: 6
Club Team: North Charlotte Wildcats
Bio: A gritty and physical defender, who will make things very difficult on your forwards if they think they can just dribble on by him. He’s also known to take an occasional run on offense if an opportunity presents itself.

Name: Brett Richmond
Position: RCB
Age: 19
Jersey #: 4
Club Team: Loudon Leopards
Bio: Not as physical as Gilles, but very intelligent. A defensive defender who will rarely have his name in the paper, but does all the things you want on the field.

Name: Todd Smith
Position: CB
Age: 18
Jersey #: 5
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: They are still playing great defense out there in Centralia, and Smith is next in line to be one of their superstar defenders. He does everything well, but some say he can be outmuscled. Maybe he can, but he’s young. He’s the only member of the defense that is starting that did not also start in DBC 16.

Name: Stanley Leffler
Position: LM
Age: 20
Jersey #: 10
Club Team: Olympia Gladiators
Bio: Gritty presence on the wing, and is usually “defense-first” in his mindset. Good with longballs, though.

Name: James Burgan
Position: CAM
Age: 18
Jersey #: 8
Club Team: Pocono City Capitals
Bio: Agile play-maker. Does what you want someone in this spot on the field to do. He has a great shot, and he is very aware of his surroundings.

Name: Vinnie Prawn
Position: CDM
Age: 20
Jersey #: 14
Club Team: Plays in Queer Poco el Mono Ara
Bio: A real pain in the you know what to play against. He will try to get under the skin of your best forward, but has the skills to back up his talk. Will certainly be looked to by the team to provide information about the host nation since that is where he plays professionally.

Name: Aaron Huckabee (*** TEAM CAPTAIN ***)
Position: RM
Age: 19
Jersey #: 11
Club Team: Tundra Falls Mariners
Bio: Possesses everything you could want in a player. Deadly shot, has speed, and is very smart. He’d play up front, but he is best as a winger and used here. Look for him also to be the delivery man on set-pieces. Extremely impressive in WC54.

Name: Edward Robertson
Position: ST
Age: 18
Jersey #: 9
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Speedy and agile, Robertson is the biggest goal scoring threat on the team. After scoring a goal, instead of celebrating, he will drop to one knee and say a prayer. He dedicates all of his goals to his brother, who is autistic, and donates 10,000 gold coins for every goal he scores to charities for autism.

Name: Kevin Boyle
Position: ST
Age: 18
Jersey #: 19
Club Team: South Tier Seagulls
Bio: Boyle is a great friend of Robertson’s off the pitch and often joins in with his charitable functions since they play for geographically close club teams, and matched Robertson’s donation at the end of the season. Kevin is also speedy and agile, and just as dangerous. He just won’t pray as much.

**** SUBS ****

Name: Jorgen Andersson
Position: GK
Age: 17
Jersey #: 21
Club Team: Daytopia Racers
Bio: Good young prospect making his international debut. He is built very well, so forwards may want to think twice about getting close to him (if he plays). Relies on positioning a little more then agility.

Name: Jerome Durham
Position: CB
Age: 20
Jersey #: 7
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: A defender on the sideline that is much more difficult to beat physically. That would be Durham, a highly aggressive player.

Name: Richard Hayslett
Position: CB
Age: 16
Jersey #: 24
Club Team: Strausser- “B” League (on loan from Brighton Bulls)
Bio: Hayslett is promoted from being a reserve in the last Cup and he continues to impress coaches and scouts with his ability. The only negative on him is that he can be immature off the field.

Name: Mark Brady
Position: MID
Age: 17
Jersey #: 16
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: Offensive-minded sub, first option when team is behind.

Name: Anthony Bonacci
Position: MID
Age: 17
Jersey #: 18
Club Team: Putnam Lake Eagles
Bio: Defensive-minded sub, first option when team is ahead or tied.

Name: Justin Cooney
Position: ST
Age: 18
Jersey #: 12
Club Team: Thumbria Bay Sharks
Bio:Not quite as speedy as the starting forwards, which is why he will come off the bench, but his shot is just as dangerous.

Name: Michael Parrish
Position: ST
Age: 17
Jersey #: 15
Club Team: Olympia Gladiators
Bio: One hope he will only grow a bit. Speedy and skillful, his short size means he will lose out for headers and such pretty much all the time. He is heavily inspired though, by all of the successful elves that have played in international football. He is not an elf, but sometimes his teammates will joke that he is.
**** RESERVES ****

Name: Kris Sanford
Position: GK
Age: 18
Jersey #: 22
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: The third string keeper will make sure there is plenty of fluid on the sideline and that players coming off the field are greeted with a towel promptly. But if we have to use him, he is here on merit, and should be able to represent himself well.

Name: Brian Derrick
Position: CB
Age: 14
Jersey #: 2
Club Team: Chesterfield- “C” League (on loan from Dover City Mountaineers)
Bio: It’s not his time yet, but he possesses so much skill, he’s already going to get the feel for what international play is like by practicing against our best.

Name: William McDevitt
Position: CB/MID
Age: 15
Jersey #: 13
Club Team: South Charlotte Condors
Bio: Very smart player, he too is here mainly for the experience.

Name: Joseph Cullen
Position: MID
Age: 16
Jersey #: 17
Club Team: Dover Town- “B” League (on loan from Dover City)
Bio: If called upon, it will be more for defensive purposes.

Name: Shawn Franklin
Position: ST
Age: 14
Jersey #: 25
Club Team: Eastport - “B” League (on loan from Southport Tigers)
Bio: Possesses all the talent you want. He’s just young. You’ll see more of him in the future. Courtney Keisler’s ex-boyfriend if you were following our WC54 RP’s.

There are to be no REAL-WORLD pictures posted to any of your RP's which would have a Newmanistanian player also in the picture, in any capacity. Additionally, if we are at home, there are to be no stadium shots in any way in the background. I will publicly call you out in the discussion thread if you do. This is my biggest pet peeve on NS Sports.

Image

Roster :

GOALKEEPERS
1- Frank JACOB (Carinna Town) - THIRD CHOICE CAPTAIN
Height : 186 cm - Weight : 82 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

This young goalkeeper has shown considerable ability in blocking set-pieces and close range efforts, because of his good reaction and an almost perfect eyesight, dubbing him the nickname "The Eagle". But he is pretty weak in dealing with loose balls and lob shots.

12- DADANG Sudrajat (Hamilton F.C.)
Height : 179 cm - Weight : 79 kg - Age : 20 years old - Preferred Foot : Right
61- TONI Wibowo (Lugdina United)
Height : 181 cm - Weight : 76 kg - Age : 18 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

DEFENDERS
2- MAMAN Arman (Lokomotiv Ileum) - CB, RB
Height : 177 cm - Weight : 78 kg - Age : 20 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

He is one of the players dubbed as "Young Locomotives", Lokomotiv Ileum's promising young players. He gained some experience after loaned to PS Tanjung Mekar in Football Championship, and now is trusted to hold the defenses tight. Although he is quite short for a central defender, he makes it up with his deadly tackles and his good pace.

5- Nova AHMAD (Lokomotiv Ileum) CB, DMF
Height : 187 cm - Weight : 85 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Left

Also one of the Young Locomotives, he made a great defensive partnership with Maman and he constantly gained first team place in his club, showing his promising aerial ability and his marking prowess.

6- Charles RETTEL (Front de Regalia) L/RB, RMF
Height : 176 cm - Weight : 72 kg - Age : 19 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

He and his brother Valentin form a strong full-back partnership. He excelled at crossing, and he is an aggressive right back with his explosive pace and his tendency to go forward. Already a first team choice in Front de Regalia, he become the team's assist machine.

7- Valentin RETTEL (Hamilton United) L/RB, LMF, LW
Height : 177 cm - Weight : 77 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Left

He along with his brother Charles form a strong full-back partnership. He has an explosive pace and is good in both attacking and defending. He is actually a super-sub in his club Hamilton United and can become an extra attacker when necessary.

3- Johann FRITZ (Sant-Antoinne) CB, L/RB
Height : 185 cm - Weight : 87 kg - Age : 19 years old - Preferred Foot : Right
18- Pyotr NABOKOV (Hamilton Marmadukes) CB
Height : 190 cm - Weight : 90 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Left
22- Jan GRYTTENS (Sant-Antoinne Rhinos) LB, LMF, LW
Height : 172 cm - Weight : 69 kg - Age : 20 years old - Preferred Foot : Left
20- RIKI (Warna Langit) RB
Height : 169 cm - Weight : 66 kg - Age : 19 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

MIDFIELDERS
17- Jorge VALENTINOV (Hamilton United) - DMF, CMF - VICE CAPTAIN
Height : 189 cm - Weight : 88 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Left

This defensive midfielder's physical ability is superb, and on top of that he excels very much at defending. Although he is quite slow, he utilize his ability to be a good holding midfielder. sweeping the enemy's passes and marking a player are his special abilities.

23- PANDU Prayoga (Hamilton United) - CMF, L/RMF - CAPTAIN - Free Kick Taker, Corner Taker
Height : 179 cm - Weight : 75 kg - Age : 18 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

A prominent playmaker playing in Hamilton United, his ability exceeds his young age. His performances in Hamilton United is already exceptional, and his free-kicks can't be underestimated. He always become the center of the team's attacks, sending good, accurate passes.

14- REZA Aditya (Hamilton Tornados) - CMF, AMF
Height : 173 cm - Weight : 69 kg - Age : 18 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

This promising midfielder plays well as a playmaker or an attacking midfielder. In his team, Hamilton Tornados, he plays as a trequartista or a shadow striker making chances and going forward whenever possible. In the national team he plays as a central midfielder, sharing playmaking duties with Pandu.

77- Daud FIRMAN (Lokomotiv Ileum) - DMF, CMF
Height : 179 cm - Weight : 77 kg - Age : 19 years old - Preferred Foot : Left
13- Bert MUSTER (Hamilton F.C.) - CMF

42- Andrei LEKOV (Sant-Antoinne) - CMF, AMF, ST

STRIKERS
9- RAMZI Syamsuddin (Lugdina Nova) - AMF, ST, L/RW
Height : 175 cm - Weight : 71 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Left

This short but explosive striker is very dangerous, with his high pace and acceleration as his trump card. His dribbling skill is also good, and that further complemented his great pace. But his weakness is in his finishing, he can only shoot well from a close range.

10- ERWIN Sutopo (Hamilton United) - ST - Star Player
Height : 180 cm - Weight : 78 kg - Age : 17 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

Although he is very young and slightly lacking a good temper, he is already hailed as a wonderkid back in his home club. He is fast, has a powerful shot, and aerially able, although somewhat rash and reckless but his technical ability and his pace makes up for that.

55- Mikhail RYZHOV (Hamilton Marmadukes) - ST, RW - Penalty Taker
Height : 182 cm - Weight : 81 kg - Age : 21 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

The first captain of the U-21 team is a lethal finisher and somewhat flamboyant striker. He already become a favorite starter in his team, and his deadly strikes both long-ranged or close-ranged can be horror with his great shooting power. But he is kind of lacking in team plays, and more often than not rely on his individual skills.

11-IMAM Sukanda (Lokomotiv Ileum) - ST, L/RW
Height : 170 cm - Weight : 66 kg - Age : 19 years old - Preferred Foot : Right
19- Ian RULLY (PS Toha) - ST, LW
Height : 179 cm - Weight : 76 kg - Age : 20 years old - Preferred Foot : Left
28- Theodor NILSBACH (Lugdina Nova) ST
Height : 180 cm - Weight : 78 kg - Age : 18 years old - Preferred Foot : Right

MANAGER : Ilham Kuncoro (47 years old)
ASSISTANT MANAGER : Nizam Risdianto (39 years old)

Queer Poco el Mono Ara DBC17 Squad

Image

Coach – Ray Hodgson. Led the team to victory at DBC 16 and is hoping his crop of youngsters can retain their title on home soil. They may not be as talented as the previous squad or have the same level of camaraderie that helped the others win the championship, so he’ll be pinning most of his hopes on 8 of those who are left over from the previous team and some individual brilliance.

Squad - Starters in bold

Goalkeepers.

01. Jaap Zuiverloon. 21 years old. Racing Cruzeira. The flea, stands at a teensy 5ft 8, but his stature hasn’t stopped him becoming one of the hottest prospects in Pocoan football, capable of shifting from one post to the other in a single bound. Still second choice at Racing.
13. Eric Johnson. 19 years old. Villa Ortiz. Played a bit part in their promotion campaign last season. He needs time to develop and probably wont get many games in the Una Serie as Ortiz look to stave off relegation back to League I.
20. Pete Fahey. 18 years old. Pythons. Signed from non-league Oxcastle Wanderers. A cavalier attitude to goalkeeping sees him rush out and meet attackers head on quite often. Pretty big hands, almost comically sized that he uses to punch the ball more often than catch it.

Defence - Wingbacks

02. Dwight Holt. 20 years old. Racing Cruzeira. Another graduate of their incredible academy. A tireless worker who has proven he will chase even the most lost of causes.
03. Dietmar Puskas. 18 years old. Salaga F.C. A leftback by trade who has been shunted to the wing for his club after an injury crisis. Adaptable, quick and a great passer, should come in handy.
14. Paulo Calabrese. 19 years old. Port Los Renato. Their one beam of light in another wise poor season. He can play right across the back and is a superb defender.
15. Jamey Torrance Derby. 18 years old. Athletic Khaldoon. Has yet to make his league debut but has performed well for the reserves and during a loan spell at Rydell United.

Defence – Centre

05. Corey Le Fondre. 18 years old. New Boys Royceton. Has settled into the first team at New Boys and has international experience playing for the club in the SBCC.
06. Phil Ledger. 19 years old. Augustus. Is now a first team regular at a good Augustus side, won the Trofeo Royal last season with his club and will benefit from the jaunt in the Globe Cup.
12. Lisandro Flores. 19 years old. 1860 Flumineiro. Organized, focused, mindful, words not often used to describe the hit and miss Flores. He’s not bad most of the time, but when he is, he’s a woeful defender with terrible positioning and poor judgment.
17. Daisuke Endo. 18 years old. Old Forest. Signed from non-league Redfern and Bridges, he was set to go to University to study microbiology but opted to play professional football instead and we’re all glad. He’s a natural centreback and one who is catching admiring glances from bigger clubs.

Midfield – Wingers

07. Fabio Rochemback. 18 years old. Salaga F.C. Was quickly drafted in to play on the right for Salaga when they were hit by an influx of injuries. He’s not the fastest winger but he’s proving to be quite clever on the ball.
11. Alessandro Pelcheccia. 17 years old. Valengren Rovers. Left footed but prefers being on the right so he can cut inside, if forced to play on his right foot he occasionally makes a t*t of himself and his cross goes astray, if he works on that he could be quite the attacking force.
22. Morten Gamst Pedersen. 19 years old. MS Leighton. Pedersen is a raw talent, but he’s also a tw*t. Prone to throwing thrombies when he doesn’t get his own way or is substituted during the game, fans have claimed he’s passionate, but.. he may just be a tw*t.

Midfield - Central

04. Angel Martinez. 19 years old. Allied Motor Trade. Don’t let his name fool you, he will kick lumps out of you and leave you crumpled in a heap on the floor. A strong midfielder and one of the youngest players in the team.
08. Josh Hart. 21 years old. Barbossa. Plays behind the strikers rather than in the middle for his club, he’s developing into a quality attacking midfielder and would benefit from a move to an Una Serie club.
16. Marlon Edwards. 21 years old. Royal Khaldoon. Has become part of the 3 man midfield at Royal where he played a bit part in their championship victory. His strong, fast and a good passer, bit sloppy in the tackles though.
21. Jessie Jay. 20 years old. Valengren Kickers. Proving that the Kickers don’t just rely on the cash from Cafundeu they also have one or two promising youngsters and Jessie is one of them. An attacking midfielder who sits behind the attackers, he proved to be a big hit during his season long loan at Burley United.

Strikers

09. Danny Cavanaugh. 21 years old. Augustus. The little fella has pace to burn and will scare the more lumbering of centrebacks. Needs to work on his heading. Another member of the cup winning Augustus side who just keeps getting better.
10. Henry Onwuzuruike. 18 years old. Athletico Palampas. Big powerful centre forward and the perfect compliment to Cavanaugh. Expect him to get around the box and make a nuisance of himself.
18. Prince Saladin Hosni Bakhiri. 16 years old. Royal Khaldoon. The first member of the Pocoan royal family to play professional football, he’s made 15 appearances for the Royal Khaldoon reserves and scored twice, may have been awarded his position based on status rather than ability. But we wouldn’t want to make such suggestions about our Royal family.
19. Abel Cain. 18 years old. Racing Cruzeira. Making waves in the Cruzeira camp for being an excellent poacher, seems to be there for tap ins all the time, but he’s also got good feet and a powerful shot. Scored 30 times for the reserves last season and should be breaking into the first team for Una Serie 15.

Kernansquillec U21 get ready to kick-off Di Bradihi Cup campaign
As the Senior Kernansquillecan Side are starting preperations for the Baptisme of Fire and the World Cup, the Under-21 Side, managed by Cappell Robert, will be kicking off in the U21 World cup, now known as the "Di Bradihi Cup". Robert is confident his boys are up to the job of getting in to the knockout rounds. However in his 23 manned squad he did include one player that wasn't even expected to be called up to the U21 at all, let alone for the World Cup. 15 year old striker, Kimmo Suutari-Jääskö, has yet to earn a cap for Kernansquillec's U21 Team, and if he does come on at any stage during the tournament he will become the youngest ever player to play for the U21s. The Kernansquillec City U18 player posted on his Facebook wall that "I wasn't expecting that call. OMG! This will be fun". The U21 Squad does include quite a few familiar faces including captain Xarles Cressac who was tipped to get a first senior cap a few months ago but unfortuantly picked up an ingured a week before Harold named his 23 man squad.

All games involding the Green & Whites U21 side will be shown live on KCB 3 and we'll have exclusive interviews, match reports and many more features as the tournaments commences

Bears Armed
("The Junior Bear-Belles")

As far as BA is concerned this tournament is taking place (IC) in 2052AD, and the qualifiers for WC55 will start in 2053.

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’)
(Chairbear: Harroya ‘of the Rovers’ o Redwood [Chairbear of Merlchester Rovers S.C.; previously Captain of the Bear-Belles for some years…]

National anthem: ‘Peace’.

All of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears), except those whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’ instead. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

Manager & Chief Coach: Karra Caroline Thunder
(female Human from Clan Gunnar, daughter of ‘Arri Thunder’ [who was the Belles’ first manager], played as a Midfielder in DBC13; graduated from National University [Council Groves] with a BSc in Sports Science, and has since added an MBA to that, was hired as an Apprentice Manager shortly before ‘Oxen Cup 14’ and then promoted eight years ago; ran the team in DBC15 due to the unexpected absence of her superiors, and was appointed national Youth Manager a year later; age = 34, hair = fair, right-footed, tends to be serious most of the time but can rrreally party when she decides to let her hair down…)

Deputy Manager (Admin): Urradarra o SwanWater
(female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; formerly Deputy Manager of the Heroes’ Park Harlequins, and more recently a staff member at BAMAS [as it then was], originally appointed to this job for ‘Oxen Cup 14’; age = 43, fur = medium-brown & quite long [but fashionably so…], left-pawed).

Doctor: Mitzi von und zu Steiffen
(female Ursine, from Clan Kettar-Surra; age = officially 51 but ‘rejuvenated’ eight years ago, left-pawed, fur = light brown.)

Physio: Gerrthra o Barrdenn
(female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; age = officially 50 but ‘rejuvenated’ eight years ago, left-pawed, fur = dark brown.)

Routemaster: Lieutenant-Colonel Harron o Harrha
(male Ursine, from Clan BerryGlades and the Confederal Army’s General Staff Corps; age = officially 48 but ‘rejuvenated’ eight years ago, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & cut quite short: just appointed to the job, which involves handling all of the squad’s travelling arrangements.)

Security Chief: Urrthra MoonShadow
(female Ursine, Silver-of-Night Clan; she is a ‘shabear’...); doubles as the team’s ‘One Plus Seven’ chaplain.

“Mascot #1”: ‘The Wise Grorrfinn
(male ‘TrueBear’; age = undisclosed [but considering some of his appearances in old stories apparently somewhere over 1’500, at least...], ambidextrous, fur = medium-brown); recently revealed to be his Reality’s counterpart of the [‘Tolkienian’] elf Glorfindel

“Mascot #2”: Sarra Elizabeth Thunder
(female Human, from Clan Gunnar; age = 3¼, right-footed, hair = blonde, verrry cute… She is the daughter of the team’s manager, Karra Thunder, but her father’s identity is not yet public knowledge.) She will usually, at her own insistence, be wearing a child-sized version of the team’s kit.

Roster

Usual Starters

(#1) Marra o Mara _ Clan = BerryGlades; Home team = Heroes’ Park Harlequins, category & usual position = Goalkeeper, experience = 4 years; age = 18 years, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown. (This is her international debut.)

(#2) Urrsa o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = Barrdenn Babes [Junior League], category = Defender, usual position = Left Back, experience = 3 years; age = 15 years, left-pawed, fur = dark brown. (This is her international debut.)
(#3) Euphemia Olgarnoffna _ Clan = Ostbora; Home team = Urrvan’s Avengers, category = Defender, usual position = Right Back, experience = 4 years; age = 17 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown; Orthodox Christian. (This is her international debut.)

(#4) Urrsa MoonBlesséd _ Clan = Silver-of-Night, home team = Sun Valley Smashers, category =Defender/Midfielder, usual position = ‘Lynchpin’ (i.e ‘Defensive Centre’), Soccer experience = 5 years; age = 20, ambidextrous, fur = silver-blonde. (This is her international debut.) She is the team's Captain.

(#5) Harjabheera Mahaderera _ Tiggrarthrran (= anthropomorphic Tiger! She is similar in overall size to a typical Ursine female, but is a bit less heavily-built and a bit faster…); Clan = Tiggrarthrra, home team = Kingly City, category = Winger, usual position = Right Winger, experience = 5 years; age = 19, right-pawed, fur = orange with black stripes. (This is her international debut. She is only the second of her people, after her older sister Jaruspahty who was in the DBC16 squad [as a Winger], to represent this nation internationally at any level… but then they did only join the nation six years ago, anyhows…).
(#6) Mirrantha o Fritha _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = Holy Terrnian’s School, category = Forward, preferred position = Left Forward, experience = 3 years; age = 16 years, left -pawed, fur = blonde. (This is her international debut. She was the captain of Holy Terrnian’s team when they won the Mainland Schools Soccer Championship last year, and — however much some people might now regret the fact — a place in the national U21 squad had been promised in advance for one member [selected by their team-mates] from that competition’s victorious side…) Mirrantha is almost as good a player as she thinks she, but is decidedly more likely than any of her [current] team-mates to try knocking a member of the opposing team “accidentally” to the ground, and also more likely to “accidentally” tread [heavily] on any opponent whom she places in that position... and is cunning enough that she might not be too obvious about this. (Holy Terrnian’s School is the Bears’ equivalent of St Trinian’s…)

(#7) Grannarra Grimmr-o-Darkdale _ Clan = Thulean; Home team = AmmFahr Adventuresses, category = Forward, usual position = Left Forward, experience = 3 years; age = 17 years, left-pawed, fur = so dark a brown that (although she’s certainly of ‘Brown Bear’ ancestry) it’s almost black. (This is her international debut.)
(#10) Marra-Charra o Thunder _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = Newton Arsenal, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward (but flexible about this), experience = 6 years; age = 20, ambidextrous, fur = dark brown. (She made her international debut in DBC16, and graduated from the Junior League to the National League in the season after that.)
(#11) Heorrthra Oldwood _ Clan = Redwood; Home team = Harr Burran Heroines, category = Forward, usual position = Right Forward, experience = 5 years; age = 19 years, right-pawed, fur = dark brown. (This is her international debut.)

(#12) Beorra o Hrram _ Harr'aynau; Clan = March, home team = Wildfair Wildlings [Junior League], category = Winger or Midielder, usual position = Right Winger, experience = 6½ years; age = 20, right-footed, hair = russet; twin sister of #13, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective when working together. (She made her international debut in DBC16.)
(#13) Samarra o Hramm _ Harr'aynau; Clan = March, home team = Wildfair Wildlings [Junior League], category = Winger or Forward, usual position = Left Winger, experience = 6½ years; age = 20, left-footed, hair = russet; twin sister of #12, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective when working together. (She made her international debut in DBC16.)

(Substitutes, & perhaps some reserves as well, to follow...)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Style Modifier (if they're being used?): Offensive, modifier = +2.5… ("A good offence is the best defence"...)
Their usual formation will include a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and either a ‘Defensive Centre’ (whose starting position would be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions) or a third midfielder depending on the Manager’s decision before each match.

Usual starters = #1-7, 10-13;
Usual substitutes = #14 or #30 (alternately), #16, #17, #20, #23, #24, #26.

Opponents may _

Choose my goalscorers: Y (but the Forwards, and then the Wingers, are likeliest to fill this role...)
Godmod Scoring Events: Y

RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first.

Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

______________________________________________________

Kit: This incarnation of the country’s U21 team wears the same [latest] set of designs that ‘ediraf’ produced for the “main” team _ See "here" for details.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: Also, the number “22” has deliberately been left unassigned out of respect for its first [& only] wearer who died a heroine’s death during the year immediately following WC444…

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have slightly poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human -- as well as a very skilled one -- to tackle them successfully, which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with.
They're physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain.
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...

Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr'[/url] on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
And, as has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches...

And this time, for the first time, their travelling supporters will include not only some of the Invisible Wabbits but also a mob of girls (and ‘old girls’, as well) from Holy Terrnian’s School as well: Oh dear! You, and the police in QPAMA, have been warned…

*(cue loud ‘party’ tunes segueing into ominous music)*

(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

The Vonghurst Star
New Strategies

VONGHURST, KHALDOON – For some, the Under 21 World Cup is used as little more than a venue through which the young generation of top players are brought up and primed for success in their nations' established pedigree. For others, it is a testing ground for a new gameplan.

For this U21WC, Virabia falls into the latter category.

For years now, the VFA has been struggling to find the winning strategy. We've always had a rather talented team going to the World Cup (and other football competitions) so, in the tactics lie the problem.

Until now, the tactics used have been all over the board. The World Cup 51 qualifiers saw then manager Brett Sampson employ his famous quasi-karela. It was traditional northern football at it's best but, despite it's tradition of success, Virabia struggled to many scoreless draws and losses to teams that we should have beaten like Novikov, who was unranked at the time.

As Sampson departed to lead the newly-formed VFA, the Cafundelense manager Waldenyr Caldas was brought in to manage the team. With him he brought a moderate-attack style of play that was hailed as a revolution for a country in which all offensive strategies involved an extremely unbalanced takilan approach.

While Caldas's style worked rather well, his term at the helm of the Virabi team was cut short when, after the World Cup 52 qualifiers, the nation descended into war and the VFA was forced to suspend operations. During the hiatus, Caldas went back to Cafundéu and found a job managing a club in his domestic league.

Going into the Copa Rushmori, former Nats' defender Jeff Parker was chosen as the teams next manager. With him, he brought the extremely defensive strategy of the 6-3-1.

It was definitely something new. It saw 6 defenders placed almost in a wall. Ahead of them are three midfielders. One is in the centre and has a more attacking mindset. The other two are very far back, almost to the point where they are defensive midfielders. In the front, is a sole striker, almost a token presence near the other teams' goal.

This strategy proved to be exceptionally horrible. If they exploited the middle, opposing teams could easily get into the attacking third. There, they had a tough time getting past the wall of 8 but, if they were persistent in trying to attack they could even exploit the wall. Also, because nine of the eleven people on the field are focused on defence, the transitions to the attacking game was weak. There was just not enough men to support any strong attempt at an attack or a counter-attack.

It was clear that it was a system that would spell out many defeats for Virabia so, in response, Parker developed a new system that he will test in the upcoming Under 21 World Cups.

“It's time we needed a change,” said Parker when he also announced the squad, “I'm going with a complete overhaul.”

And what an overhaul it is.

Gone is the 6-3-1 and we are in with a 4-2-2-1-1. While we don't know the nuances of this system, we will certainly see the intricacies of a system which is billed as Quasi-Karela 2.0.

As for the squad it self, the selection of players has also seen a few changes. Only two players already have numbers (which means they've been chosen in the past). The overwhelming majority of the players are young players who have played well in domestic competition. By doing this, Parker hopes to extend the horizons of the national team, as well as provide even more players the chance to play in an elite setting.

Attached below is the standard roster form. Curiously missing are the kits. Whether this is simply the result of some oversight or a hint that the team will adopt new kits, we are not sure.

We are sure, though, that for this story and all of the others, we'll keep you posted.

Manager: Alain Montblanc

Style: +1
Formation: 4-2-3-1

#01 - GK - Damian BERENGUER	19 years old	Renneville United F.C.
#02 - LB - Gennaro CRISCITO 21 years old Rapid Hearthlands
#03 - RB - Federico AGNELLI 21 years old Violia FC
#04 - CB - Liliana SANDOVAL 21 years old Maharia United FC
#05 - CB - Conor KINSELLA 19 years old Burningham City F.C.
#06 - CM - Marvin TURNER 20 years old Burningham City F.C.
#07 - LF - Autumn PHELPS 21 years old Violia FC
#08 - CM - Alvaro INIESTA 21 years old AFC Hollybrent
#09 - ST - Olive LAWRENCE 21 years old Burningham City F.C.
#10 - AM - PEPITO 19 years old Real Jraxville
#11 - LM - Jade GROSS 19 years old AFC Hollybrent
#12 - GK - Geneva CLEVELAND 19 years old Kart Hago FC
#14 - ST - Romario ROBERTS 18 years old Greeningham City F.C.
#15 - CB - Valeria AYALA 20 years old Renneville United F.C.
#16 - CB - Michael HARRIS 17 years old Utica United F.C.
#17 - LB - Janet DUFFY 21 years old AFC Hollybrent
#18 - RM - Allie FAY 20 years old Utica United F.C.
#19 - CM - Maryann WALSH 17 years old Wellmont United FC
#20 - RF - Hamzah IBRAHIM 17 years old Hastmead Diamante CFC
#21 - RB - Nathan BROOKE 18 years old Utica United F.C.
#22 - CF - Tabatha BRAY 20 years old AFC Hollybrent
#24 - RM - Thomas BAKER 18 years old Dynapolis United F.C.
#25 - LM - Kasim SHAZAD 17 years old Trothwands Evolution
#26 - GK - Jayden ANDREWS 17 years old Greeningham City F.C.

Alain Montblanc has named a relatively older squad than in recent years, with very few returning players from last season. Only Montblanc himself knows the reasons behind this, but the notable lack of Firewood City players is a major talking point, as is the presence of only one Hastmead Diamante player. When the top two academies in the country send just one player between them to the under 21s squad, eyebrows are certain to be raised.

Damian Berenguer takes over from Marco Corradini in goal, and has a few more games experience with Renneville United in the meantime. His ability has never really been in question, but there are still doubts regarding his composure. To remedy this, Montblanc has opted to place a strong back four in front of him, two of which have full international caps.

The first choice back four is Criscito-Sandoval-Kinsella-Agnelli, which might surprise those of you who haven't watched much of the Royal League this past season. Liliana Sandoval's stock is rising rapidly, and the Maharia centre-half is certain to be on the radar for some King's League sides this summer. Conor Kinsella is being groomed as a future Burningham City defensive lynchpin and captain, under the watchful gaze of Sir George pennant and the man who currently fills that role; Tyrrinian centre-half Melvyn Shahar. Montblanc has taken notice of Kinsella's performances in the reserves and on the occasions he has been given a first team run-out, and selected him ahead of Valeria Ayala. Ayala is a more accomplished player, having been part of the Olympic gold medal winning team, and a regular for a somewhat impressive Renneville side last year, but Montblanc admires Kinsella's commitment in the tackle and willingness to throw his body on the line for the team - a trait seen often in his performances at Elishat Stadium, including last week's 0-0 draw with Stanley United, which saw Burningham City reach the TakilQuip Champions' Cup group stage.

The backups in defence are a mixed bag, with Utica duo Harris and Brooke are largely unproven, but Montblanc feels they have great potential, and this experience will set them in good stead for next year's tournament. Duffy is another member of that Olympic winning side, and a very accomplished attacking fullback. Her defensive positioning is suspect however, and Montblanc's emphasis on defensive solidity - as opposed to di Corradi's offensive dedication - means Duffy misses out on a starting berth for now.

The midfield is the most important part of any Osarian team, and this one is no different. Marvin Turner is selected to play the "destroyer" role, in a deep-lying tandem with one of AFC Hollybrent's pass-master Alvaro Iniesta, or Wellmont's breakout box-to-box starlet, Maryann Walsh. Ahead of them in the playmaker role is Real Jraxville's Pepito, whose talents have not gone unnoticed at the Dynapolis club. With the Flying Sparks set to line up in a similar system to the one he is used to, expect him to flourish.

The wings are likely to be occupied by Gross and Fay, although Montblanc's offensive side might shine through on occasion and see him field either - or both - of his wide forwards; Phelps and Ibrahim. Baker and Shazad are in the squad for similar reasons to Harris and Brooke, in that Montblanc doesn't expect to play them much, but rather hopes they will learn from the experience.

Up front, depending on the opposition, expect to see either of Romario Roberts or Olive Lawrence leading the line as a lone forward. Roberts is a bigger target, and better at holding up the ball. On the flipside, Lawrence is a pacy, predatory forward who will be more likely to get goals. The final forward slot in the squad is taken by Tabatha Bray, whose first full season at Hollybrent has seen her emerge as a potential long-term solution to the inevitable problem of Keon Tinto's retirement in a few years. She is a long way from the finished article, of course, but her intelligent movement and relatively consistent finishing have seen her gain recognition as a serious threat on the front line.

Most likely starting lineup:

Berenguer, Criscito, Sandoval, Kinsella, Agnelli, Gross, Turner, Iniesta, Pepito, Fay, Roberts
Monarch: Alexander III | First Minister: Mathieu Lupin | Population: ~125 million | Capital: Burningham, Mount Crown
Civilisation Index: 13.43 • Tier 7, Level 2, Type 5
Current Project(s): a discord scorination bot, and a football manager knock-off

Now, this is what I call fun!

The Doctor watched in glee as his robots leisurely snatched their first win.

The supporters on his side were all robots, which he took the care to paint in the team colors. He also programmed them to play the anthem of SBZ in vuvuzelas whenever the opponents got the ball, and do perfectly coreographed olas. If the crowd wasn't able to affect their own team's performance (as they're robots and don't care), they could at least put up a spectacle, right?

They didn't play even remotely close to expectations, in fact. P3-L3's missed quite a lot. C4R-L05 constantly moved forward and left his space open. MR-DN got a yellow card for slapping the ball. B3-ST and G4R-NCH were constantly tripping on themselves. It seems they were trying to do maneuvers not supported by their chassis.

There were the upsides, though. The human players on the other side got quite frustrated because the robots were very difficult to tackle, and their man-marking was so tight it looked laser-guided. Which it was.

P3-L3 got the winner in a powerful header. A loud CLANG was heard in the stadium as the ball hit the striker's metal frame.

After the match, the players immediately turned away and headed out in sync. The only one celebrating was the Doctor.

-

Well, it seems that my current team can beat some nobodies that didn't even reveal their players. The real test starts now. Let's get back to work!
When referring to this nation, please call it "Eggman Empire", thank you.

As I brought civilization to this land, I had all the rights to take it."

Astograth 3 - Mytannion 0
U-21's Strike Decisive Blow On Di Bradini Cup Debut!

A shock result was experienced today as the Olibondeka U-21's defeated Mytannion by three goals to nil and positioned themselves at the top of Group F.

The match started off very even, with both teams attacking from the go and creating good chances. A few minutes into the game, team captain Zorion Legeren rattled the post with a free-kick, and Gaizkine Liroz sent the rebound wide after striking the ball on the half-volley. Close to the twenty-minute mark, Soter Larreaga had a marvellous run cut short by the Mytanar keeper's quick reflexes, and the resulting corner-kick saw Sotil Burruchaga head it just wide of the near post.

It was an exciting to watch both teams go back and forth, but it was on the 30th minute that Astograth certified its superiority with a wonderful long-range effort from Legeren. Determined to not let their lead slip before half-time, the youngsters closed down Mytannion's subsequent attacks and scored the second after a play by Otz Lasuen left Beremando Aldoaga virtually alone.

Content with their lead, play was more relaxed in the second-half as Olibondeka sought to control possession and limit even more their opponent's chances. Shots from Legeren and Liroz were saved by the goalkeeper, while Mendizko, Aldoaga and Lasuen sent the ball over the crossbar. Soon after, Ituraitz FC player Lukar Mendikoa was brought on for Unzueta, while Mendizko left in favor of 17 year-old sensation Urtzi Galard. It didn't take long for Galard to dazzle, but his selfishness held him back and turned goals into missed opportunities.

Soter Larreaga would cap off Astograth's victory as he latched onto a very long pass by Ubelteso Adin and unexpectedly shot at the far post with his weaker foot. With barely over fifteen minutes to play the match became a series of desperate attempts from Mytannion to score, but keeper Muniya and his defenders responded well to all challenges.

The Rumiatzi Sentinel, as Astograth's only English-language news source, was on the pitch to interview the jubilant footballers.

"We're all happy for this result, it's totally unexpected! We knew Mytannion was a good team, that we had to be careful. We did just that and look what happened, I still can't quite believe it!" said captain Zorion Legeren, scorer of the first goal.

"We didn't show them respect, that was the key," said Itzeder Unzueta, "You can't go into a match respecting your opponent, because that means you've already lost. We weren't afraid to tackle and dribble today, and it showed."

At the post-match press conference, manager Xanti Tzoroza shared his thoughts.

"The boys played very well, knowing when to control the ball and when to surge forward and strike. The level of understanding they have is remarkable considering this is the first match they've had together, and the team's cohesion can only improve from here on."

When asked if he thought Astograth could win the competition, Tzoroza was clear.

"We musn't let this win gets to our heads. Winning something as big as the Di Bradini Cup requires consistency and for the moment we must be humble and take things in stride. Mytannion, for all its merits, is not the strongest team in this tournament and the next match could very well see us losing three nil if we don't focus. It's not impossible of course, but needless speculation can only be harmful."

THE KERNANSQUILLECAN TIMES: SPORTS EDITION

PERFECT START FOR THE U21

The Green & Whites were playing their hearts out last night at the Di Bradini Cup with a crushing 4-0 victory against the Bears Armed U21 side. The senior team sure could learn a few thing from their younger siblings.

Chappell Robert named the expected side of Zacharie Larivière, Hector Walker, Sam Norton, Edward Campbell, Mariano Napolitano, Kieran Bird, Arber Tessier, Xarles Cressac, Sean Iqbal, Kai Holmes and Aimé Brochu. Senior team manager Dean Harold was also in the stands as he looked at who he could add to his squad for the upcoming World Cup.

It was a great start of the Kers with Brochu firing wide after 3 minutes. It was Holmes turn afterwas on the 12th minute who headed against the crossbar after Bird flew past 2 defenders. But finaly after some great passing by Cressac and Iqbal Holmes found himself onside and one on one with the Bears Armed goalkeeper and maturly slotted the ball in to the bottom left hand corner on the 20th minute. The Bears came back in to the game a bit and called Larivière into making a couple of decent saves but found themselves suffering an over setback after a sweft counter attack. Bird found himself in some space on the right wing and sent a magical ball into the middle for Holmes to yet again slot home. 2-0 after 39 minutes.

HALF TIME: Kers U21 2 - 0 Bears U21 (HOLMES 20' 39')

At half time Robert made some changes bring on Couture for Tessier and giving 15 year old Kimmo Suutari-Jääskö his first U21 international apperance making him the youngest ever player to appear for the Kernansquillec U21. Holmes making way after a superb first half.

It was almost a maginal start of the 15 year old when he sent a 25 yard belter onto the left post which somehow came back out. But it only took an other 3 minutes for the young start to yet again get a sight on goal only to be tripped in the penalty area, earning a Bear player a yellow card. Captain Cressac stepped up to take the sport kick and sent the ball into the top right hand corner over a rather unfortunate Bears Armed goalkeeper. After that 3rd goal the game settled down, the Kers quite happy to defend their 3 goal lead. On the 76th minute the Kers manager made his final change of the evening with Rees comming on for Walker at right-back. The chance didn't do much for the game as the same pattern of possetion keeping crept back into the Green & Whites game, but a great ball over the top by the substitute Walker on the 89th minute to Suutari-Jääskö looked like it would be a goal but the keeper just got a hand to his low shot, but fortunatly Brochu had followed the action and was their to claim the tap in.

Andreass Sports TV Broadcast : Andreass U-21 vs The Araucania U-21

Pre-Match

*Background Music Playing*

Good evening, i'm Alexander Romanov as usual will broadcast to you the first match of the 17th Di Bradini Cup of Andreass U-21 against The Araucania U-21. Now beside me is Mr. Bambang Suganda. Nice to see you, Mr. Bambang.

Nice to be here, Mr. Romanov.

Okay. Before the match is started, i want to ask you about your analysis. After the failure to qualify in the 1st International Football Tournament, do you think we can bounce back to victory?

Well, Mr. Romanov, the chances are pretty high actually, especially because in the previous tournament, our team played against senior national teams. It's not a failure when our team lost, because i think the objective was to gain some experience before this big cup. And that is also why the manager, Ilham Kuncoro didn't get fired. Added by the surprise comeback victory against FSSO's senior national team, i think the boys are readier than ever.

Very good, Mr. Bambang. Now i want to ask you again about our team's strengths. What are exactly our team's strengths and weaknesses, after evaluating our team's performance in the previous tournament?

Actually, our obvious strength lies in Erwin Sutopo, the enigmatic wonderkid striker. We've all seen how his brilliant hattrick and a bicycle kick goal brought our team to a brilliant comeback victory against FSSO. He is very explosive and his techniques exceed his young age. Also, we have Pandu, our captain in the midfield. He is the heart of our team's attacks. His passes are accurate, and he commands the team pretty much.

I agree with you, Mr. Bambang, but how about our team's weaknesses?

I think it's on the defenses, actually. Our defenders, as shown on the previous matches, didn't defend very well. Especially about their composure on the field. Every time an opponent player breaks through they just lost concentration and slipped up.

Okay, Mr. Iwan. Now we can see the players of both teams are entering the field. While we wait, let's take a look on both of the teams formation.

Well, no surprise here.. now let's take a look on The Araucania's formation..

...

It seems that we have a technical mistake.. We're sorry for the inconveniences because at present The Araucania's roster and formation is not available. But now let's continue.. now the players are entering the pitch and both of the nation's national anthem will be played.

*Andreass national anthem playing*

*The Araucania national anthem playing*

Okay, now both of the captains are with the referee, deciding who will take the kick off first.. Yes, now Andreass will take the kick-off first, starting from the left side, and The Araucania will start from the right side.. The players are in their positions.. The ball is in place.. the referee blows his whistle and they're off!!!

5th Minute

It's Pandu now with the ball... he passes, to Reza.. still Reza.. with a long pass forward, Ramzi has it... Ramzi, unopposed on the left flank.. he crosses.. met by the head of Ryzhov!!! Over the bar!!! What a waste, he should have scored, heading in the front of the goal like that! Let's see the replay.

17th Minute

Valentinov nabs the ball... he passes to Reza... passes it to Pandu.. he's passing it back to Reza for a one-two... Reza immediately shoots from a long range!! Saved by the keeper!! The ball's out for a corner! Andreass are piling the pressure now, fully attacking.. Pandu is preparing to take the corner.. He kicks the ball to the penalty box.. Ryzhov with the header.. hits the post and GOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLL!!!!! Andreass now takes the lead first.. Ryzhov scores an important lead.. with an accurate header! Let's take a look on the replay.

He's certainly didn't want to repeat his failure of his previous heading attempt, and now he's done it brilliantly. Such accuracy, making use of opportunities.. and don't forget to thank Pandu too for the goal. Such a nice cross, nice corner.

31st Minute

Certainly the boys aren't satisfied with just one.. now they're attacking again.. Valentin Rettel on the left flank, dribbling.. still unopposed.. he passes it to Ramzi, and Ramzi passes it back... he reached the end of the field, he crosses... the keeper blocks it!! Erwin's there to grab the loose ball!!! He shoots! Hits the right post!!! How unlucky, he should have scored.. let's have a look on the replay.

44th Minute

Andreass piling on the pressure again as they aggressively attacks... now Erwin.. dribbling through the middle, tricking the defenders one by one... He's passed the last defender, now only him and the keeper!! He shoots!!! Just inches wide, another wasted opportunity! He's got his hands in his head!

After the First Half

Yup, after a thrilling first half, the score is now 1-0 for Andreass. Now, i want to ask you Mr. Bambang about two things : our team's attacking nature and Erwin's two missed goalscoring opportunities. What is your opinion about that?

I personally think that our team were very aggressive on the first half, with several opportunities made and most of the possession controlled.. maybe Mr. Ilham wants to secure a good first match victory to boost our team's morale, exhausted by the previous tournament. But maybe the attacks were too brave. One slip and maybe it's the end. I'm worried, pretty much worried because our team were too attacking. The formation even looked more like a 4-2-4 instead of 4-3-3, with Pandu obviously playing up front and grabbing some opportunities like a trequartista or a hole striker. Mr. Ilham needs to asses this or else this will be very risky. And now, about Erwin's failed opportunities.. he didn't show some composure in the front of the goal, just that and the luck factor.

Right, right.. nice analysis, Mr. Bambang. And now for some highlights and after that the break. Stay tuned because after the break the second half will be underway.

53rd Minute

It's a goal kick for The Araucania.. the keeper kicks the ball towards the middle of the field.. Reza takes the ball.. with a long pass to the right side, straight to Ryzhov... he quickly crosses, but his cross is wide out of the penalty box.. Pandu's there and got hold of the ball, quickly shoots a half volley!!! HE SCOOOOOORES!!!!! Andreass doubled the lead with a beautiful goal just outside of the penalty box.. Pandu Prayoga, the captain, scores for Andreass.. now it's 2-0! Let's see the replay.

67th Minute

It's Charles Rettel dribbling.. towards the middle and passes to Valentinov.. he passes back to Ahmad.. Ahmad to Maman.. Maman, with a long ball forward towards the middle of the pitch.. Reza has it, then passes it to Erwin, what a lovely through pass! Erwin's now dribbling towards the penalty box.. Just the keeper to beat.. He shoots towards the far post! IT'S IN!!! GOAAL!!! The lead is now 3-0, with Erwin Sutopo scoring once again for Andreass.. the players are all around him.. Now let's see the replay.

89th Minute

Now Pandu again, commanding the attack... he passes to Ramzi... Ramzi dribbling to the middle.. towards the penalty box.. past the defenders, now one on one.. he shoots!! Blocked by the keeper but Erwin's there!!! GOAL!!!! Erwin's second goal of the match! It's now an astonishing 4-0 for Andreass U-21!!! The crowd is cheering them.. What a match for the boys! Let's take a look on the replay.

After the Match

...And now the match is over with a comfortable victory for our side. Mr. Bambang, what is actually the defining factor for our victory?

Well, frankly saying, Mr. Romanov, we've seen that in the second half, our performance was calmer and not too rash like the first half, when the boys just wanted to make chances without actually caring about the defense. They're playing very efficiently, and just deserved to win with this kind of margin. But i'm pretty concerned myself, that on the last minutes Ramzi and Reza looked like they're very tired. Looks like they're gonna be replaced, maybe Imam will replace Ramzi and Lekov will replace Reza. And, for the last words, it's important not to get carried away by this victory and concentrate to win the second match.

Okay, very good Mr. Bambang. Now, as the match is over, unfortunately our time is up. See you next match, and Goodbye!

A 1-0 loss to a little rinky-dink country like Mangolana could be the type to demoralize a young group of players. Ok, so perhaps Mangolana is better then they want to give them credit for, but still in the Di Bradini Cup, these are games that Newmanistan doesn’t lose. Sure, they could drop a game to the likes of the former Candelaria And Marquez, or a Sorthern Northland, or Valanora. But to Mangolana? I don’t think so.

Coach Tremblay lectured the team after the game, and Vinnie Prawn attempted to be the emotional leader in the locker room. Captain Aaron Huckabee even tried the positive spin, “Sometimes losses like this can be good. They can serve as a wake up call that everything we may have done means nothing now.” You could tell that Huckabee, one of the few players on this team that also plays on the senior team was biting his tongue as he said that. But yeah, sure, maybe it will. The players dispersed, but on this night there was no desire to go out and party.

Defender Chris Dayten sat alone in his hotel room, looking for something to watch. There was nothing. Part of the problem with being in a nation in another region that doesn’t participate in much of the same sports that you do. No NSCAA coverage? Not even a score that runs along the bottom of the screen once every 15 minutes? There was plenty of football he could watch, but right now that’s not what he wanted. He began to pull out his laptop, perhaps he would get all Cassadagan and start a blog, but he eventually found something that caught his interest: Keisler Cup scores. He smiled wide. As you may or may not know, the Keisler Cup is the baseball equivalent of the Di Bradini Cup, which is being held in Newmanistan, but it wasn’t the baseball aspect of it that brought back memories of the good ol’ days: that amazing World Cup 54 run. Courtney Keisler made her debut there with the U-16 team, and he immediately thought about all her support and how close she was to playing football herself. Then there was Courtney’s supposed affair with his club teammate Myron Jackson against his sister Megan. There was indeed a lot in common.

He watched as Courtney gave up a home run in the first inning. And then settled down. Settled down enough to win the game. He now was ready to give a firey speech for the next Di Bradini Cup game, which will be against (Jacouba??). There was no reason this team couldn’t do the same thing: start slow and finish strong.

Reporting from Rushmore
by Courtney Young

Good morning everyone and welcome to the new Di Bradini Cup Blog for this competition entitled “Reporting from Rushmore”. Right now, tournaments for younger athletes are en vogue with this competition for soccer, the NSCAA tournament for basketball players, and the Keisler Cup for baseball. When combining all of them, none of them has the exciting rich history of the Di Bradini Cup, which goes back quite a ways. Customarily, it is held in Starblaydia, but we have seen a shift from the steady purpleness to a variety of hosts, and this time it is Queer Poco el Mono Ara that gets this great honor. As a player, it is very exciting because you are looking to make an impression for the senior team coaches, and whether you are an experienced side like us or a first timer trying to find their way, there is no better motivation. Not all players will be able to make it to their main national team. Some will be caught up in a numbers game where there is just no room for them, and others will be bypassed by other young players. All we can do is try our hardest, and hope for the best. I am one of the older players, so I have more of a sense of urgency and supposedly am one of the more mature ones. We have an unwritten responsibility, and that’s to keep the younger players focused. We were all 16 once, and these are 16 year old girls playing in a competition where the opponents are mostly men. Do I need to say more? Of course, us 20-year olds have to be more discreet about taking a second look at some of the guys that we will playing against.

Cassadaigua has not had a ton of success with this; usually we can make it to the playoffs and win the first round matchup, but then quietly exit. Even so, if you look at the list of the kit numbers that have been retired from the senior team all of those players were in a Di Bradini Cup at some point in their career. I’m pretty sure that most of the other countries that regularly participate can also say something to that effect. We all want to win this tournament, but it is also about growing as a player, and you can’t forget that. One game is in the books, and it was against our gridiron rivals Allamunnic States. I don’t know how many people in Queer Poco el Mono Ara are familiar with that rivalry, but I’m sure those who watched were left thinking, “There’s gotta be some history there in other sports!” Well, there is, but as is the case when we meet in gridiron, we were the victorious side; taking it by a field goal, 3-0. A nice complete effort, with two goals from Taylor Connolly, and the other from Rhiannon White.

Thanks for reading!

(Karra Thunder) “Urrgah! Nil-four!”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Ayyuh. The way the other side’s players came and went through our team’s defences, they might as well have been invisible as far as the girls were concerned… Not good enough, not good enough for true: Overconfidence?”

(Karra Thunder) “Hwell, I think that a large part of it was the ‘Baby Belles' not having quite gelled together as a team yet, bearing in mind how shortly it was before we came here that their clubs would let us actually get them all assembled to practice… but it also smelled to me as though they hrreally need to get rather more experience in against non-Ursine opponents — to get used to how those tend to be more agile than they are themselves — too. I’ve been trying to show them about that during the training sessions, but even with our Harr’aynau and Vulpine players helping me out it seems that that hasn’t been enough. Urrrh….”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Hr’rmm, so maybe we should try having the team practice against a squad from the Wabbits? They did offer, after all…”

(Karra Thunder) “So they did… and that would be a set of actually invisible opponents — except for their kit, of course — too. But you know why they made that suggestion, as well as I do, hrright? Not so much to do with wanting to help our girls get better at football, it was, more of an excuse for getting in close to them: Can’t keep their paws to themselves, our long-eared friends can’t, for true…”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Hr’rmm, I didn’t hear you complaining about that at the party after last World Cup’s final match, when that Barry MacWabbit had his paws all over you then, did I?”

(Karra Thunder) “Hmph!
“What happens at parties is one thing, but what happens out on the playing field is quite another one altogether… and bearing in mind how much some of those
‘Friends and Relatives’ have been hanging around at Wimbley during the last year I probably know how to cope with furry Romeos better than some of the girls do, by now, as well.”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Although, from what I hear here and there, probably not more than o Fritha does…”

(Karra Thunder) “And isn’t that for true? Anyhows, back to planning for the next match…”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Hokay.
“Do you still reckon to drop o Fritha? She did seem like one of our better — Hokay, or
‘least worst’ if you must — players during the last game…”

(Karra Thunder) “And twice, not just once but twice, she came verrry close to getting a red card: Not only was her behaviour definitely unbefitting any member of our country’s side anyhows but it meant that twice she came perilously close to leaving the rest of the team having to play with only ten people on the field for the rest of the match: Just imagine how much worse that would have been, against such skilful opponents? Nil-eight, even, maybeso? No, she’s out of the starting line-up, at least for a game or two.”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “So, to replace her as a starter for the next match, which of the subs are you going to promote?”

(Karra Thunder) “It’s a job for Arra-Beorra o Barrdenn, I think: She did rather well in the practice sessions before we left home, and she’s got National League playing time that neither of the other spare Midfielders whom we brought here have as well. We’ll save our ‘secret weapon’ for later in this contest…”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Hwat do you mean, ‘secret weapon’? Oh, yes, of course…
“And which nation’s team will our girls’ next game be against, anyhows?”

(Karra Thunder) “That’s a verrry good question… and the answer is that unfortunately I don’t know, because the organisers haven’t actually told us yet. Surely they’re not still sorting out the schedule? After all, it wasn’t until only a couple of watches before our previous game that they announced whom it was that we’d be facing in that….”

(Urradarra o SwanWater) “Urrgah!”
