CUP OF HARMONY 46

Welcome to the 46th Cup of Harmony, hosted in Delaclava and Virabia!

The format will be very straightforward - it will be a group stage, followed by a knockout. Although numbers aren't set yet, teams will play each other twice if there are groups of 4 or 5 and once if there are groups with more than 5 teams.

Points will be first, followed by goal differential, H2H result, and H2H goal differential, wins, and if the tie still cannot be broken, a one game playoff. If a playoff does occur, it will not be counted for KPB purposes.

Post-qualifying ranks will be used.

Vephrall's NSFS3.0.1 will be used to scorinate. Virabia will scorinate his groups at 2300-000 EST, and Delaclava will scorinate at 2100-2200 EST.

Roleplay will be graded on respect for other RPers, effort/overall quality, creativity, revealing new information (i.e. i don't want to see stuff that I can find in the scores or in the rosters), etc. RPs can earn a maximum of 2 KPB points per day, and will never degrade. Multiple RPs for one matchday will be treated as one score and will be given a grade based on the overall quality for that day. To ensure that everyone's roleplay is respected, please post the following permissions with your roster, and be as detailed in your answers as you need.

THE ROSTER

Goalkeepers:
#1: Joris Eisenberg (42) - Fortuna Njifelheim
Starting keeper for the last few years. Played an excellent world cup until an injury forced him out. This will be his latest gig, though. Eisenberg is known not to be the quickest but excels in all other areas.
#23: Tacitus Engström (38) – Jotunheim Intersports.
Experienced Goalkeeper whose strong career took a nosedive recently, losing his positions at Jotunheim Intersports and the #2 of the national team. Right now he does not have much to lose.
#12: Brent Rockwell (40) – New Ipswich Pioneers
Rather than testing an entirely new keeper or ruining the career of the young Zorin, Wildgrimson just adds his goalkeeper coach to the roster as third keeper. It’s unlikely that he is going to see play but the solution seems sensible.

Centre-Backs:
#2: Titus Goldstein (33) - Jotunheim Intersports [TEAM CAPTAIN]
A surprise nomination! Of course Goldstein has the quality to play in the national team but this cup could ruin his national career afterwards. Either he is extremely loyal to Wildgrimson or counts on his importance for the team. Either way, the tactical genius and experienced captain is a valuable addition.
#4: Roman Elfstedt (39) - Helsingsand Soccer
He didn’t really get his chance during the World Cup, his mediocre performances outshone by Beer de Shevin. In this “Senior Squad” however, he seems the sane choice for second centre-back. Good match to Goldstein since he interprets his role very defensively.
#14 mzk0r3 (21) – Homeless Kickers of Consortina
A player who is more than ready – mzk0re only narrowly failed to make the cut for the World Cup squad and he certainly is strong enough for CoH – although he still needs to curb down the youthful exuberance in his forward play. The reason why his nomination is a bit surprising is, as in other cases, the danger of him losing the goodwill of the federation after Wildgrimsons inevitable layoff. But then again, you can trust a member of the T3CHN1C community to make an odd decision or two.
#20 Bipedal Blau (26) – Joint Forces of Consortina
Wildgrimson is breaking a taboo here, lining up an active civil defense servant in his team – especially one who received experimental body augmentation. Obviously, his technical skills and finesse have suffered a bit from the artificial joints and motor cortices – but his stamina and alertness are excellent. It will be interesting to see whether his nomination sets a precedent.

Wing-Backs:
#16 Hiroaki Nawashimaru (43) - Fortuna Nijfelheim
Left Side: A star player in Consortinean soccer. His great career is drawing towards the end, as could be seen in World Cup 54 where he was often overrun by younger adversaries. Apart from becoming a bit slow for the wing, he still has the stamina to play a long tournament, though his greatest strength – the box to box play – is diminished.
#5 Ömer Gülyin (36) - Kankürüspor
Right side. Often dismissed, he used the first real chance he got for WC54 to prove his worth. Plays a very defensive part and is bad at aiming long passes but he can reliably plug his side and free other defenders for their offensive forays.
#13 Frodo Erdstetten (29) - Elsslingen Soca
Left side. Returned from the international peace corps and service in the temple of violet for World Cup 54 and convinced with strong performances. His play has become more reserved and defensive but in times of need he can still show a dashing run towards the opposing goalline.
#19 Leif Laassen (26) – Tasslefoot Canoneers
Former Jotunheim youth player who trained together with Wildgrimson for a few years. If it wasn’t for the split between Olegard and Wildgrimson he likely would never have seen play for Consortina – mainly because of his problems with stamina and proneness to injury that doesn’t mix with a long intense tournament. His technical skills are pretty good, though.

Wing-Forwards:
#8 Mary Peace (28) - Heidesand IF
Left Side. Another surprise as she still has a career to lose – though Peace is a bit notorious for rash decisions, especially during BoF41 when she got dismissed over a tussle with the referee. On the pitch, however, she plays the perfect archetype of the altruistic midfielder, covering great lengths and going into the nasty tackles to set up chances for her teammates.
#21 Jonas de Haayen (21) - Jotunheim Intersports
Right Side. And this is definitely a surprise. His career is still young and he doesn’t have a good standing with the federation yet, so he has a bit to lose. He probably follows the call of his mentor and developer Wildgrimson – and the chance to prove his worth on a new position. On the defending position, he could not get past Gülyin, let’s see what he has to offer as a forward.
#3 Cecil Bronstein (36) - Wertingen Intersports
Left Side. Second row player who never really rose to the first rank for not having any experience in higher tournaments. Got his first chance in BoF41 and wasted it. For this tournament, he is certainly good enough, though – especially since he can play any position in the midfield reliably. A bit weak in the 1 on 1, he prefers the wing nonetheless.
#17 Felicitas Horn (29) – Jotunheim Intersports
Right Side. Reserve player from Jotunheim, though he is relatively new at soccer and still developing. He will give de Haayen fierce competition. Like him, his greatest strengths are quickness and ingenuity while his tactical discipline is sometimes lacking.

Holding Midfielders:
#6 Yngfrid Reich (40) - Kirkerrick Warriors
Objectively, he may be the strongest holding midfielder Consortina has – and in a 4-3-3 for example he would be the perfect player as a lone holding midfielder. His strengths in tackling, passing, shooting and pretty much everything are outweighed by his problems to integrate in a team where he doesn’t have ultimate authority, though. This reserve squad may actually suit him.
#15 Patrick Vingthorsen (37) – Jotunheim Intersports
His greatest years are far behind him already and he is only #3 in Jotunheims holding midfield due to his reduced offensive capabilities. Still, he is a good and solid player and a good option for the player beside Reich.
#18 Dmitrios Teleplatides (24) – Braackedorf Wattworm
Wildgrimson shatters another taboo, lining up a player who has not received full immigration status in Consortina yet. Teleplatides remained – in contrast to most of the star players who were affected – rather passive in this conflict and is a good choice for setting a precedent. He plays a rather offensive holding midfielder, eager to join the forwards to create power play – a style that unfortunately conflicts with the somewhat better Ravenburg who is going to return sooner or Later.
#22 Benevolence (17) – Homeless Kickers of Consortina
The Homeless Kickers are always good for a political statement and once again, they were clear on this matter, explicitly backing Wildgrimson in the ongoing conflict. The coach repays with nominating two of their youngsters for his team. Benevolence sets another precedent, being the youngest player ever to play for the national squad. Objectively, he lacks the experience, tactical prowess and physical strength to play a world class holding midfielder. But maybe we are in for a steep learning curve.

Forwards:
#7 Ay (34) - Homeless Kickers of Consortina
Secondary Striker. Will he be able to play? Nobody can really answer the question since the medical record and healing process of Consortina’s star striker was kept secret. Conspiracy Theories have ranked around his poisoning during BoF41 and his reappearance might quell most of them. His experience and his ability to create chances for other players will be needed.
#10 Valinho (39) – Nijfelheim Irregulars
Secondary Striker. Valinho’s story may come to a happy end after all. The Courinthean striker moved to Consortina with the explicit goal of joining the squad but his form started to decline just when he was eligible for the team. The fallout between Wildgrimson and Olegard was his last chance to be nominated – His motivation should be sky-high –and his deadliness in front of the goal is as high as it ever was.
#9 Ernhold Mühlbergen (34) - Jotunheim Intersports
Striker. Despite playing not too spectacular and often being invisible on the pitch for 90% of the game, Mühlbergen is the undisputed #1 among Consortina’s strikers. He belongs to the old dogs of Jotunheim Intersports who are following their former coach on the mission that is the Cup of Harmony.
#11 Flagbard Haemmelainen (46) – Jotunheim Intersports
Striker. Also, fitness coach of the Consortinean squad for the last six years. The precarious system in the front row was solved last-minute when Haemmelainen himself offered to fill the reserve position behind the solid Mühlbergen. Admittedly, he played Holding Midfield during his active years but why not give it a shot?

With so many surprise nominations, it comes down to guessing who Wildgrimson will line up first. Probably he will prefer the experienced ones at first.
