The Road to NSCAA 3

Discussion thread
Recruiting Thread
Roster and RP thread
Scores thread

Welcome to the regular season of NSCAA 3!

For clarification: This is a college basketball regular season which will culminate with the NSCAA playoffs.

I'll be using Xcoranate as the Scorinator (as it is the only one I have that accounts for basketball). For the amount of teams joining, I don't want to put a cap on team participation, but I will set the signup time for two and half weeks, starting from now until 11:59 pm CST on February 15th. That will give ample time for anyone that is genuinely interested to sign up. Another note, every nation can now have up to 10 teams if they so choose to. This is highly encouraged, as Newmanistan and I need to fill out the conferences. Before we begin, I want to get the schedules planned out, then you can lay down some rosters and RPs. As far as scheduling goes, well that will be determined on how many people sign up. I'm thinking of putting everyone into a conference system so that at come playoff time, we can have, for example, the winners and runners up from each conference in the tournament. But once again, that all still based on total participation for how big each conference will be.

So, prefered order of business:
1. Sign up if you are interested.
2. After a week, layout of conferences, schedules, etc. will be decided upon.
3. Begin posting rosters and RPs.
4. Begin inaugural season!

So if there are any questions please feel free to TG me. I'm going to reserve the next couple of posts for conferences, schedules, etc.

Signups as of February 14th (132/132):

I'll allow Fair Haven for now, but if we need to fill out conferences and such, then I'll give you the OK to use Newcastle.

May I request some discussion on this before proceeding?

It's not to discourage... I would like to get this and the eventual NSCAA tournament (of which we have had 2; so this is not the first of its kind and the other is still considered active) more on the same page and to have a discussion about logistics and such.

I didn't get involved in the Faknan thread because it was a newbie with little direction, but here I see some good participants showing interest. There is no reason why we can't have these two work together, with one another, but we need to talk about things a little bit, first.

If you love tournament brackets, check out the previous two:

Hey Newmanistan, just curious (since I wasn't around for NSCAA 1 or 2), how did you guys determine the tournament bracket? Did you guys actually complete a season and then have the bracket? Or was the NSCAA just a tournament rather than a league?

The Concept of NSCAA Basketball:

– Each nation that participated offered a list of 8 or so schools from their nation, with a record and perhaps a sentence or two on how they did within their country. The selection committee (in other words, the host (me in NSCAA 1, Qazox in NSCAA 2) then set up the tournament bracket). When setting up the tournament, the host considered factors such as the IBC (International Basketball Championships) prestige of the nation, and their overall sports programs. The tournaments worked well; their wasn’t a ton of RP, but enough, in my opinion, when considering the small scale.

– My suggestion, and Saugeais is under no obligation to do this, is to take down his message in the signup thread. Again, you don’t have to do to this, I don’t want to be seen as a bully here or whatever; but... there will be an NSCAA 3 in March. So instead of having them run separate, I think it benefits all of us if work them together.

– If so, the question becomes how do we do this? The best idea, is to set up conferences. Not one. Not two, but many. One host can do this, or multiple hosts can work together. It’s probably too late to scorinate one game at a time, so perhaps we could do in the groups of 5 games, 10 games, or whatever. Details can be worked out.

– Ultimately, we can call this “The Road to NSCAA 3"... instead of NSCB or whatever. So again, let’s work these together... not separate.

Yep, obviously this is Saugeais's league so he can do whatever he wants, but I do like the idea of having the "road to NSCAA 3". Like I've told Saugeais, I would absolutely be cool with helping scorinate a conference. But my question is how are we going to mold these two together?

If you were willing to scorinate one (or two) that'd be great. I could do the same, so could Saugeais; and maybe someone else steps in to help. This is would be an absolute golden opportunity for someone who doesn't have hosting experience (Civil Citizenry, perhaps?) to get some if they were aspiring for bigger events. My first suggestion would be to get a handle on who would scorinate conferences, and how many. Off of that, we can figure how many conferences we have, and then figure out how many schools we put in each conference. A number like 150 can easily be attained, and worked with well if it task is divided up.

Calling the competition "The Road to NSCAA 3"could perhaps get the attention of other nations who have played in NSCAA or NSCAA 2, but perhaps haven't shown up in this thread yet (and wouldn't have), that if they want to be in NSCAA 3, they have to go through this.

At the end of the conference stage, the person who will scorinate the final tournament (and I would nominate Saugeais since he got the ball rolling here) will select the 64 teams and seed them based on how they did in the conferences.

If more than one university per nation is needed to obtain a sufficient number of signups, Ramusok Capital University Dragons could represent Cosumar as well.

Newmanistan mentioned a possible need for additional scorinators, I could take on this task if needed. I have xkoranate, but am more used to NSFS3, still getting used to xkoranate. I have hosted Beach Cup 2, and I am looking for more hosting opportunities to build up experience.

So yes, add RCu to the maybe list and know that I am willing to help out with scorination.

Added up to Cosumar's Ramusok Capital University.

I'd like to make a note that the signups end time has been extended from the 4th to the 15th. So you have plenty of time to sign up, ad it gives me plenty of time to work out the fine details.

Is there a limit of schools per nation? Or a recommended maximum?

I agree, this should be open gender. There are many potential participants that have female athletes, even some that have non-humans.
