Newmanistan troops marched to Amherst. The road there much easier then expected with the placing of the sky blue and white atop the town halls of the locations that went through met with little resistance. Were the Secristanis welcoming us? Wasn’t Cassadaigua going intervene? Where were the presence of other One Big Island nations? And no out of region nations were going to contest this? If invading and taking over another country were this easy, maybe we should be doing it more often! They could see the skyline in the distance and were ready for the pink troops.

Once in contact with the Capital City, Newmanistanian forces were greeted with.... cheers? Yes, just as the Emperor wanted. The people here knew that their former government had bailed on them, and the likely result were the rich and upper classes of Secristan gathering their riches and running somewhere a little safer and the middle or lower classes welcoming Newmanistan rule since that would not involve legal slavery or fees and auctions for every damn little thing. Not every rich Secristani had left, with one successful owner of a restuarant chain telling General Freeman that ever since the government had bailed on the nation, his restaurants were looted by the masses and stealing his food. Others echoed that concern, and were glad that the anarchy would be over. Newmanistan was cheered, and Amherst was easily falling into the hands of the Empire. Cassadagan troops were no where in sight. Where were they? After Queen Cassie’s original declaration of resistence, the nation had gone quiet. The navy, meanwhile, had control of the South Seas, and there was no report of the Cassadagan by water either. General Freeman chuckled. The historically neutral Cassadaigua was all-talk, and the troops marched towards the Capital building and that’s where things got to be a little different as rebellion forces had seemed to organize there. Now, it was time to fight.

Back in Pocono City, Emperor Michael IV was trying to catch some of the Rockets vs Rockets game as he awaited a report from General Freeman. He was as happy as anyone to see Brittany Castelli shutting down the Imitators. Oh yes, good ol’ historically inconsistent in the Classic Castelli having a big game. You will recall that she struggled in her first outing and needed to come up big here tonight as rumors have been that her starting job would be in jeopardy in future Classics. So Miss Inconsistent was sure to keep that tag relevant to her, but fortunately this time the Original Rockets were due for a great start. A complete game shutout, allowing just three hits, with one walk and ten strikeouts was exactly that. The Imitators got a good start themselves, but with Newmanistan getting a solo blast in the fourth from Meghan Butler, and then playing small ball for a 6th inning run. (One out single by Stacie Meadows and your traditional Newmanistanian steals of both second AND third and run on a sacrifice fly), the Original Rockets had enough to seal the win, and improve to 8-1 which just the Warriors of Milchama remaining on the qualifying schedule.

For the first time in several years, Quintessence of Dust are far from guaranteed progression to the playoff stage of the topsy-turvy WBC17, and any such progress is now dependent not only on the results the team achieves for itself, but also those beyond its control. "A defeat to Qazox would definitely knock us out. So we have to win - but if we do, then it depends on how Royalsoldiers do," said coach Jun Zhou while squinting at a cosine chart. "I think," he added, before ruefully rubbing his stubbled chin and swigging at a bottle.

The team kept their - faint - playoffs hope alive with a crushing defeat of Delaclava, who floundered for a second time against George Jone's pitching. Jones allowed three hits and one walk in six innings; Kalvin Burke hit a ninth inning double off Mazio Mizokuchi to drive in their only run. Meanwhile, four Quodite batters (Emily Sanderson, Sakiko Wakabayashi, Ana Justina Jurkaš and pinch hitter Ben Zimmerman) hit home runs, with Wakayabayashi (3-4) and Natalia Kivistö (2-4, 1 2B) getting multiple hits off Matt Terscera.

"We've certainly picked up in the second half of qualification," said team captain Mizokuchi, who conducted a post-game press conference while bravely fighting off the aftertaste of pickled eggs and salted peanuts. "Whatever happens after tomorrow's game, we can be happy." Momoko Koumura added, "And hammered."

The bad news, as some of you might have caught on, is that we have just lost our sixth game to fall "nine points" (can someone explain this system again, please?) behind Cathatis. The good news is that, according to the official tables, we have not yet been eliminated. If anyone could explain how we can still qualify for the playoffs, that would be excellent.
vanehawk: Zwangzug win, and Cosumar lose, by a combined margin of six runs. Cathatis lose. A bunch of teams in other groups also lose. Organizers accidentally invite the nonexistent Cathais, rather than the extant Cathatis, to the knockout stages, and understandably obtain no reply. Zwangzug invited to fill in gaps.

Playoffs coming to Lycrabon, hosts finish tournament


ST. CATHERINE -- The Lycrabon Blue Jays travel to Cassadaigua tonight to complet the group stage in the 17th World Baseball Classic. The Jays are coming home regardless of the outcome; whether the Dagan ladies come too depends on the game and others as well. The Jays are a disappointing 3-6 so far, while the One Big Island women are at 4-5 - in serious danger of not defending their title.

This has been a very strange tournament, as quite a few of the perennial contenders have, to quote one of the Delaclavian players two days ago, "sucked." Oh, sure, Newmanistan is destroying their group, as usual. Qazox is making noise at the end, and the Quodites are battling. But Zwangzug could miss the end, and the aforementioned Delaclava has yet to win, and the Nordics and Dagans (the latter of which won it all last time) are in serious danger of being eliminated, even if they win their final games.

LSPN correspondent James Markelson has deduced the current bracket going into the final set of games, and here it is:

Tarrentum Falcons Sporting News


The Falcons won their sixth game of the XVII World Baseball Classic. It was a stunning win against Cosumar and showed off the power of the Falcons roster. The Tarrentians have pulled together and have now won 7 straight games in this Classic. Yet their biggest test still remains in Zwangzug, who dropped a tough game to Mossulia yesterday.

Power has been coming from many different areas of the team. However Dessea Vallena-Favella is proving once again why she probably belongs in the WBC Hall of Fame (prerequisites be damned). Many here at TFSN have speculated who would win in skills competitions between Stacey Keisler, Momoko Komumura and Dessea Vallena-Favella. [OOC: Quod, I think that's your bigger hitter's name - right?] Most of the older beat writers think that, while Vallena-Favella would have the best defense, that Keisler would be the clear champion. Yet most of the younger generation have never saw a Keisler-led team so are jaded to almost inherently vote for The Dream. Make sure to leave your vote at the end of this article!

We know how the Newmanistani press loves to throw about their statistics and to further our own cause, TFSN has placed all WBC statistics for Tarrentum (15, 16, 17) online.

Warlocks Hanging Tough.

The Warlocks traveled to North Orus today to face off against what had been the best team in Group E throughout the whole qualification process. Not know for being an overpowering team thus far, or exceptionally good on the road, made this a very important game for the Warlocks if they were to move on.

Peihehoae got the start and from the beginning it was easy to see that the home batters had his number by hammering the first three pitches he offered up. But it was the Warlock defense that rose to the occasion as North Orus failed to get a run. It was a trend that would last for then first six innings - solid hits thwarted by exceptional defensive heroics.

The top of the third saw Zirakul take the lead with a 2 run blast from Miukuwa that easily landed in the upper deck. And the fifth would see them add two more as Aipohi and Malihao both came up with RBI singles.

North Orus would get a run in the eighth inning but it was not enough to overcome the stingy gloves of the Warlocks. 4-1 was the final score.

That makes the scenario very easy - win against Sibirsky and move on to the next round. Drop the game and take your chances with tie-breakers and other things that could send us home.

Reds Secure #3 Seed


Jose Peterson smiled as the 9th Inning ended in a huge Western Cuba lose against group rival Tocrowkia. By a score of 8 to 1. No he wasn't smiling about the lose, but lied ahead for him. In three seasons as the National Team Manager he has managed to qualify to every WBC event, and this time locking up a #3 seed for the Playoffs. The highest ever seed clinched for the Reds. However though if the Reds had won today's game they would of secured #1 in the Seeds. However though it didn't matter much as they had qualified. Jose Peterson had this to say on his team.

" Sure Game 10 against a game to admire. Losing by 7 runs isn't what I consider good. However though it doesn't matter. We secured a spot in the WBC, and are now playing in the Round of 16 and possibly favored to win it all. Our team has potential, and I look forward to the Round of 16 and what lies ahead. Possibly a championship. "

However though many people are criticizing the Western Cuban Team. Especially the Western Cuban Press and possibly even Vladimir Makarov has been rumored to disapprove of the team. Many people are complaining that the Western Cuban Reds lack pitches.

Even though Tom Novak, Evan Jackson, George Longoria has secured winning records though. There ERA is remarkably high, and people are wondering if pitchers from the U-21 Team should now step up.

Anyway onto our next match. The Western Cuban Reds face the Stuffed Taxidermists. A team just like Western Cuba did 2 WBC's ago managed to shock the International World being unranked and qualifying. However though the Papers favor the Reds with a 5 point advantage.

Now the starting pitcher for the Reds will be Tom Novak, against an T.B.A Stuffed Taxidermists pitcher, and Philip Castro will return after missing three games.

Qazox at WBC17


Leaping grab at wall saves Qazox, earns #8 seed.

With so much on the line, thanks to a Cotdelapoms defeat of Royalsoliders earlier in the day, the battle of the Q's (Qazox and Quintessence of Dust ) would determine the #2 team from group C and the playoff fates of both nations. The winner would advance, while the loser would go/stay home. QoD brought out their #1, Taiyou Morioka, again; while Qazox countered with Michael Hunter. First time out, Morioka lasted only 6 innings. This time he would last 8, and once again it would be a pitcher's duel, and the Things' bullpen once again blinked first.

Leading 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 9th, A returned Linda Werth sent in Robert Tokadden to get the save, but like the 1st game of the group stage, he struggled, and allowed 3 straight hits to open the frame. Now with runner on 1st and 3rd, and a run in, Werth asked for Charlene Iya; who hadn't pitched in over a week. She promptly got a ground ball, which was just barely a double play; and then up came Anna Alaja.

Here's the call from 1080 QFRO's (Fromburg) Dario Hass:
5-4 Qazox lead, 2 outs here in the 9th. and up steps Anna Alaja. She's already gone deep tonight and is looking to tie the game up here... 0-2 pitch, fouled off... 2-2 pitch to Alaja and it's hit deep to left center field, Flint is back, she leaps and.. SHE CAUGHT IT! SHE CAUGHT IT! OH MY JOE SHE CAUGHT IT! Emma Flint has jut sent Qazox into the playoffs! That will go down as one of the best plays in Qazox history! Flint caught it right at the top of the wall and Qazox wins 5-4!...


As the #8 seed, Qazox will face #9 Mossulia in the opening round of the playoffs. The way the brackets are set-up, Qazox has a decent chance to reach the WBC final, but more on that on our Playoff Preview tommorrow.

For the first time, Newmanistanian troops found themselves in a significant state of combat with organized Secristani loyalists looking to defend their Capital building. But still, there were no Cassadagans in sight as reports are that they have taken their guns and bats and have gone home. Perhaps their injured list, something that we have heard a rumor of via an unconfirmed source in a popular baseball discussion zone, was enough for Queen Cassie to not put up a fight, fearing more then just injuries to her troops. After all, young fit women with guns in/on tanks belong on calendar pinups instead of the battlefield. These loyalists, however, were prepared to fight and organized themselves well, but the Newmanistanian troops with all of their years of training and superior strength were able to defeat the rebels and seize control of the Capitol building. There were casualties on both sides, and we sympathize for all of those families back home in Newmanistan who lost a loved one day. Despite the sorrow, may you eventually be proud that they died while serving their country in this ambitious battle. General Freeman ordered the Newmanistanian flag to be placed on top of the building, and then for an associate to “Play the Clip”.

Every TV in Secristan had its signal set that it would play the following clip from Emperor Michael IV. Additionally, large screens around the Capitol Building were set up for those who wanted to see it while there. The Emperor was in Pocono City, but prepared this statement to be cast:

“People of the former Secristan, today is a great day for you. It is also a great day for all Newmanistanians in our traditional boundaries. December 14th is a national holiday in Newmanistan. It is the day that we celebrate the birthday of the late Empress Jessica, my beloved sister. It is fate that it is December 14th now as the date in which we have attained a great success. I know that she is looking down at us now and smiling. Today, December 14th, I declare the former Secristan now part of Newmanistan! We have taken control of the capital city, and will now move eastward. We hope there will be minimal resistence as we do so, but if anyone is planning on fighting this, they should take note that the international community supports our move. No other leader has condemned me or this mission. Queen Cassie of Cassadaigua initially did, but we have offered that nation some domestic concessions and they have quietly backed down from standing up to us. It might be hard for a Secristani to now associate themselves with Newmanistan, but this is for the best. I know that Secristan was a great nation when you had leadership, but that no longer exists, and your nation has gone deteriorated greatly. People who were once rich and successful are now struggling, and that should not be and it will be no longer. Today you are all Newmanistanians. Celebrate!”

(He pauses, and continues)

“In honor of the city Amherst becoming part of the Newmanistanian Empire on the birthday of the great Empress Jessica, I declare the new name of the city to be Jessicaville. While Pocono City will remain the Capital of the Empire, we will look to make Jessicaville as great of a city as it was when it was called Amherst. All of the names of the cities in Secristan will be Newmanistan-ized. This will take some getting used too, but it is for the best, because we must not look at the past, but rather towards the future.”

(Crowds cheer after some discussion, Sargent Hillcrest turns to General Freeman)

“By the way, did you get that score in the Milchama game?”

“6-5 Warriors, unfortunately.”

“Oh well. We must not look at the past, but towards the future. You’re next, Cathatis!”

“They’re in the city of Summersville. If we win the series, we’ll adopt that name for one of these Secristani cities and perhaps see if they want to make it a sister city in the long run.”

The Tarrentum Falcons secured their first finish at the top of a WBC Group with a thrilling 11-inning win over slumping Zwangzug. The Zebras put up a fight but the combination of tough pitching and opportune defensive plays saved the Falcons a walk through the dredges of the playoffs, where they have been the past two Classics.

The game started off with a quick double and stolen base by Ferdini Zappataro (Casslaha Highlanders) but Zebra's starting pitcher Jeffrey Garfield (Noh Weir Red-Tails) settled in after Zappa's speed show. With the Zebra's taking their hacks in the bottom of the first, Bertrando Sabre (RHP - Napole Professors) walked the first batter of the game. There followed a double and a single to bring home Janet Aleplow (FTC Crabs) before Sabre could settle himself and get to K's before the inning was over. The final dramatics for most of the game came at the top of the second when Dessea Vallena-Favella (Vladgrad City Stars - Western cuba) hit her sixth solo homerun to tie up the game.

The result of this 1 - 1 tie was so black and white it could only have been played in Zwangzug. The pitchers, Messers. Sabre and Garfield, battled against the potent batters from Tarrentum and from Zwangzug. Many Zebras fans took the time to finish up their crossword puzzles in the stands. Then there was the incident during the 7th-inning stretch when a recently-graduated Tarrentian living in Zwangzug dressed up like a lion and tracked down the Zebra's mascot. The security team had him subdued in good time but not before scaring the wits out of "Zwangy" the Zebra.

The game picked up in the 9th inning when the Falcons pushed a run across with two outs and none on. Xavier Gradoni (Riori Cannons) showed just how "clutch" he was by legging out a single to first. Valerio Utteroni (Napoliroma Legion), who was also having an anemic game with a second-inning double, hit another single through the infield to put runners on first and second, 2-out and Dessea Vallena-Favella up to the plate. The Dream smashed a double to right field to score Gradoni but Utteroni was held up at third base by 3B Coach Joe Greene (Pitching Coach - Riori Cannons). While Joe Thomas (Riverton Otters of Charlestown - Lycrabon was able to squeak a single out to load the bases, Erni Washini (Trumboi Archers) hit his pitch right back to Elizabeth Racine (LHP Zwischen Bears) to end the inning. Greene had held up Utteroni at third during Thomas' hit because, as we later found out, he was complaining of some stiffness in his calf muscle.

With the game now all but over for Zwangzug. The Zebras were able to put two men on with 1 out when Ada Throop (Weegham Rainmakers) smashed a run-scoring double into center field. Griz Franklin (LHP Florentine Diamond Kings) stayed in the game after his blown save and was able to get the next two outs. The Zebras had forced extra innings and the fans had finally put down their crossword puzzles. (10 Down was: Antidisestablishmentarianism)

The 10th inning was three up, three down for both sides. In the top of the eleventh Utteroni was able to score on a Joe Thomas outfield single to put the Falcons up 3-2. It was now all up to Ederi Sallamo (RHP Outremont Cotdelapomais - Cotdelapoms) who was a former closer himself. Sallamo did not disappoint. He struck out the first batter faced but then gave up a walk and a hit to put a runner on third. Sallamo met with Joe Greene on the mound and the words for 'Clean' Joe seemed to calm the veteran hurler. Sallamo next pitch was a sharp grounder to Vallena-Favella at short, who flipped it to Zappa for the out at second and onto Gradoni at first for the last out.

The Falcons win brought them the 5th seed in the Playoffs and a match against newcomer Telamar, the 15th seed.

Zirakul & Silver Beach to Clash For 3rd Time in WBC 17

It seems that the Warlocks from Zirakul have made a splash in the WBC 17 as the team defeated Sibirsky in its final match and gained the second qualification spot from Group E and the 11th seed in the knockout stages.

And already we will face a familiar foe as the number the 6th seeds are fellow Group E qualifiers Silver Beach. On Matchday 2, they got the better of us with a 3-2 win but on Matchday 8 we returned the favor by dropping them 6-3. Both teams are familiar with each other at this point and it should be a great game.

And with two road wins to close out the qualifiers, the Warlocks now believe they can win in traditional stadiums. Add to that the fact that it will be Naepupa taking the mound rather than Lenaweu, who started both Silver Beach games, and we could have a solid chance to move on. Lenaweu thrives on overpowering his opponents at the plate while Naepupa is a finesse pitcher with great command of his curve and change up. In addition he throws one of the most wicked knuckleballs ever seen.

Our chances are good, but can we actually pull it off and move on to face the winner of the Stuffed Taxedermists/Western Cuba game? That remains to be seen.

PLAYOFF PREVIEW and our Mid-point awards review.

Here were the mid-point awards and the Final Awards:

    Most Suprising team: (tie) Saugeais and Stuffed Taxidermists. Both teams are 4-1 and atop their groups. Can the dark horses maintain their pace, or will they fall back to the pack?- Both teams made playoffs, but most suprising team overall was Mytannion, who took the #1 seed!

    Most Dissapointing team: Delaclava. 0-5? Nobody, not even Nostrodamus saw this coming. Is it already too late for them? Seeing as they finished 0-10, I guess this award still stands.

    Most Offensive team (meaning best offense, not the other kind. We've permanently earned that title): Western cuba. Averaging 6.80 Rpg and are only unbeaten left. Are they that good, or is their group that bad? It's not the latter. Mantenwic at 5.80 RPG, but a 4-6 record? Western Cuba finished as #3 seed.

    Best Pitching Staff: Lycrabon. In a tough group, they're allowing 2.60 Rpg. And They just out-dueled Cassadaigua. Quintessence of Dust allowed 2.20 RPG, but missed the playoffs. So Saugeais at 2.40 rpg gets it here.

    Most likely Division leader to falter: Saugeais. I'm really sorry about this, but Qazox, Delaclava and QoD are better than Saugeais and in the 2nd half Saugeais will get caught. Almost came true. But Saugeais' pitching staff buckled down and earned themselves a #4 seed.

    Most likely sub .500 team to go 5-0 in 2nd half: Sarzonia. Got to give the devils their due. See what happens when we try to be nice to the Stars? They went 2-3 in the 2nd half; but Best improvement was... Tarrentum who went 5-0 to take the #5 Seed from Mossulia.

Reds Secure 1st Win of the Series, One more Win to Advance


Jose Peterson lead his Reds to another victory today. Which they now lead the series 1-0, in a win against the Stuffed Taxidermists of a score of 5 to 1. After many rumors of the Western Cuban Rotation being weak that rumor has been erased for now. A victory for the rotation itself to stay in the national team.

Tom Novak pitched a gem today. Only allowing a three-hitter, and one home run. He managed a 1.00 E.R.A, he hadn't done that once yet in the series. None of the pitchers had. It was a true victory for them.

Meanwhile Philip Castro lit up the Stuffed Taxidermists. Hitting 2 home runs. One going over the Left-Field Grandstand and the other barely going over the Center Field Fence. After being out for several games it seems Castro is back to full potential once again, and is a true threat again in the series.

Meanwhile the Reds play the Taxidermists once again in Game 2 of the Series. If the Western Cubans win this they advance to the Quarter-Finals for there first time in history.

Evan Jackson has been announced to start, and will face a T.B.A pitcher for the Stuffed Taxidermists. If they win Game 2, they go on to face Silver Beach, or Zirakul in the Quarter-Finals.

Contract Extension

Jose Peterson's contract with the National Team, which ends this year for a Three-WBC Term has been extended for another 4 WBC's, with over 40 million dollars overall being given to the manager. With 10 million dollars being given to Jose Peterson for every WBC. This is one of the biggest signings for Western Cuba in any sport. After all comparing to Western Cuban's top paid player. Evan Morales of the National Soccer Team who makes 8 million every year. This is quite amazing as Manager's are usually given low pay compared to players.

However Vladimir Makarov the Second thinks this shouldn't be true. He praises Jose Peterson saying.

" Peterson is probably one of the smartest to ever know the game of Baseball. Sure your players are good, you always need players. However though if you don't have a good coach, how are they supposed to play well? "

Now there are also rumors of the Manager of the U-21 National Team for Western Cuba to join the Reds National Team as the Assistant Coach, and for Jose Peterson to be hired as the Manager of the Vladgrad City Stars. The Best Baseball Club in Western Cuba, which lacks good players, as much of the National Team plays in International Leagues.

Qazox at WBC17


Carey goes distance, Qazox leads Mossulia 1-0.

Despite the 6 day respite between the end of the Group stage and the beginning of the playoffs; Manager Linda Werth decided to keep the rotation the same and not bump up either Jerri Werth or Michael Hunter. Instead Sean Carey took the mound and held Mossulia t just 3 hits in a complete game shut-out as Qazox took the first game of the best 2-of-3 series. Carey, who in his last 2 starts lasted only 7 innings and had a pair of no-decisions; looked sharp in his first start in 9 days. He and the Mossulian starter each had no-hitters going into the 6th, but Qazox took advantage in the bottom of the 6th and took a 3-0 lead. Carey struggled a bit in the 9th, walking the first batter and then giving up a screaming double to left with 1 out, but Werth kept Carey in and he responded by striking out the last 2 batters to complete the game.

In Game 2, Juan Diego will take the mound, looking to bcome the 1st Qazoxian pitcher to start 3-0 in a WBC since WBC 7.

Telamar - The Falcons, though pushing across 9 runners and putting up 19 hits, lost a heartbreaker to little 12th ranked Telamar. The Telamarines, who finished second in Group B with their No Name team, put up quite the fight against the mighty Marrada. The ace of the Falcons squad lasted 5.3 innings before being pulled in favor of little used Romeo Vasparian in the bottom of the sixth with 1 out and the bases loaded. Marrada was uncharacteristically inconsistent in hitting the strike zone, tallying 7 Walks throughout the game. Vasparian was impressive as always in his 1.6 innings of work, giving up a double with the bases loaded to bring in the 8th and 9th runs for Telamar. The double was Vasparian's only Hit Allowed. He would have been the best choice to stay in the game but Manager Ferdinand Cossomo put a lot of confidence in his bats - the same strategy his used effectively in the IBL with the Bolonza Atomics. So when the 9-spot came up in the top of the 8th, Vasparian was pulled in favor of LF Brenaccio Macca. Macca got the hit and helped start a 2-run inning but it was Ederi Sallamo's inability to get batters out in the bottom of that inning which finally brought the 10th and final runner across for the home team.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Falcons showed their characteristic power, hitting two home runs (Xavier Gradoni - 3; Dessea Vallena-Favella - 12) and 5 doubles. Dessea Vallena-Favella was a triple away from hitting for the cycle and after the game you could see the frustration in her eyes. "We are all competitors and when we fail to preform, whether hitting or pitching, it eats away at us. Tarrentum has never advanced past the Round of 16 in any WBC. This is our best hope and now we have to win two straight or let little pissant Telamar get into the next round." Vallena-Favella's frustration was echoed by the never bashful Erni Washini. "It's just straight ****ed up. Marrada's been our girl forever, and now we've got to win two straight? Makes me wonder if Cossomo knows what he's doing up there. We know how to win but pulling Romeo when he's striking guys out? Doesn't make sense."

While Washini's lack of confidence in his Manager is par for the course most of his teammates laid the blame on themselves for not executing when they needed to. Marrada herself was upset during the post-game press conference. When asked what was wrong she simply stated: "I didn't take it serious enough. You can watch video and prepare but I just didn't do enough. I let my teammates and Tarrentum down today."

The one bright spot was once again The Dream, Dessea Vallena-Favella. With 11 games now completed Vallena-Favella has a wOBA (where .400+ is great) of .756, this is no where close to last tournament's ending wOBA of .821, but it shows the value that someone like Vallena-Favella has on her team. The entire team itself (eligible batters) have hit a wOBA of .412 - amazing for a team and a testament to the power that could explode at any moment. The Falcons will need that power in the next game and going forward if they hope to reach the WBC Championship Game.

Qazox at WBC17


Diego injured, Qazox rallies late, wins in 10 to get to quarterfinals.

Juan Diego could have extended his personal winning streak to 3, but left in the 5th inning after a line drive hit him in the left knee. Arthur Thomas wound up getting the ball after Diego was hit ans just beat the runner to first with the throw. The injury has been offically called a "Left Knee Flexor Bruise", but reports are that the kneecap might be broken. Diego is expected to have a CAT-scan and X-rays taken in the AM.

As for the remainder of the game, the 1st player out of the bullpen, Randall Wynne; struggled allowing 3 runs in 1/3 of an inning, and Mossulia to take a 5-3 lead. But Charlene Iya bailed him out and combined with Michella Brown to hold Mossulia scoreless in 4 1/3 IP, allowing just 4 hits along the way. The big bats awoke as both Carl Holmes and Hannah Carre connected on 2-run HRs, the later tying the game up at 5 in the 8th.

Qazox now awaits the winner of the Mytannion-Royalsoliders Game 3 tommorrow. Not that we're asking for an upset, but a chance to avenge 2 bitter losses would be great.

The Reds are going to Summerville's!


The cheer of Western Cuban Players were heard, after the game winning out was recorded by the Western Cuban's in the Bottom of the Night. George Longoria threw a 1-2-3 inning. With the first out and the last out being K's. The other was a pop fly to LF caught by Harry Terravic. Then with a 1-2 count George Longoria threw a 2 Seam fastball in the inside to strike out the Stuffed Taxidermists swinging. The roar of the Western Cuban fan's were heard and many rushed out into the field to celebrate with the players, ignoring the rule not to enter the field. However there was a lack of security, though the rally was safe and no one was injured.

All of the Reds then picked up Longoria and started to throw him into the air, and then catching him. It wasn't a huge victory in the WBC however it was the first time the Red's ever advanced to the Quarter-Finals, and they were planning that nothing would stop them.

Up next the Western Cuban's is the series against Silver Beach, a worthy opponent. It is predicted that this will be the starting pitching match ups.

Western Cuba Evan Jackson v.s. Silver Beach Louis De Graza

Graza is a great knuckle ball pitcher so except the game to be a great one, now here's our sports predictions for the Series, and who's going to win.

Game 1

Silver Beach, 3 Western Cuba, 4- A great game is played by both teams however the Red's prevail in the Ninth inning. With a game winning rbi.

Game 2

Silver Beach, 5 Western Cuba 2- The players of Silver Beach surprise the Western Cuban's and come back and beat the Reds, and face a Game 3.

Game 3

Silver Beach, 0 Western Cuba, 1- Game 3 is a pitching classic with both teams, shutting out each other's players, and each team only has 1-2 hits. However in the bottom of the Ninth, the Silver Beach team makes a fatal choice by putting in a relief pitcher, and the Red's get a game winning home run.

Overall- The Series will be worthy to watch however though, except the Western Cuban's to win at the end. Great Pitching, and a good lineup help's that.

Addition- In Western Cuba the gambling tables have put down the Western Cuban game 5/1 in Western Cuba's favor. So if you like gambling a suggest today is a good time.
